  1. Zombie Dragon conversion has plateaued whilst I wait for a load of bits to arrive - have been struggling to blend the chair into the dragon body, so basically ordered a load of bones to try some ideas out 🤣 Am also pilfering the wall, steps and tree from Yndrasta which I think should provide the extra support on the base I need. What this does mean though is that I've made a start painting the unit of skeletons from Cursed City! Only at the base colour and wash stage on this five, I'll get the other five up to this level and then do all the edge highlights in one hit. Pretty happy with the colours as I didn't have a clue what I'd do until I started. I'm going to try and incorporate the purple into the armour of the dragon and vampire elements too, though will be shading it with blacks so that it's a slightly different hue.
  2. They're not moving the web apps on WarCom to Warhammer+, so warscroll builder will still be available for all to use. As far as I'm aware no existing freely available content will be moving to Warhammer+. I actually sit somewhere between HollowHills and Overread. I think it's natural for us to compare subscription services, however Warhammer+ isn't purely a streaming service so to compare it to other streaming services isn't a like for like comparison. In truth we're better off comparing Warhammer+ to other hobby subscriptions like Duncan Rhodes' Painting Academy, or the plethora of content creators on Patreon - although that's still not a like for like comparison. Ultimately how we gauge value for money is going to be a personal opinion and factor in what content we individually wish to consume - if you're only interested in one part of Warhammer+ then it's likely you won't perceive the subscription as great value.

    FYI

Being a bit mean your response is from a member of GW's customer service team, for them to say it's an official answer is them overstepping it a bit. The only official answers would be from the main studio ideally via an FAQ.
  4. Think it's important to remember that everybody is going to have their own views and opinions on this that we need to respect that rather than try and brow beat people to follow our own views. Personally I will be signing up. There's content that they're going to be putting up that I would like to watch/read and the miniature and voucher makes it pretty reasonable - certainly less than I spent on Patreon and Twitch each month. It does help that having been in the hobby some 30 odd years and playing/collecting multiple systems with an interest in all of the GW system backgrounds. One point that I do think is worth making is that masterclass, loremaster, out of print content etc, would never have been available without GW doing Warhammer+. From what they've said they're still going to be producing YouTube painting videos and streaming on Twitch. Warhammer+ content is extra content on top of that. Yes there is an argument that you can access battle reports and painting videos for free* on YouTube, but I've easily watched as many awful painting videos as I have good ones. * aka stuffed with adverts

    FYI

I read this bit as talking about sub factions like some of the Stormcast ones that go "if you're playing as this chamber then you must take the stick of wafflesnaggle". Could well have been me applying logic that isn't there though 🤣
  6. I don't think we'll see soulwars appearing as a SC set as Grimghasts are a min unit of 10 and GW received a huge amount of criticism on those unit sizes 3 years ago. I think we're more likely to see a box containing Harridans, a banshee and perhaps a mortis engine or similar (though black coach would be amazing!)
  7. I'm thinking the voucher is a really clever bit of promotion and financial money shifting. From our perspective, we get two months free (or a year for £40), making it almost a no-brainer to try out. From GW's perspective it minimises risk by quite a bit. The sign up should be higher and they get the money up front - vouchers don't go out until October, so that "outlay" get's deferred - plus a £10 is likely worth under half that price if they remove any form of product mark up. Most of us will also chuck in another tenner to get free postage when we spend it (and let's be honest we'll count it twice and go "I'm getting £20 of stuff for £10 - woohoo!" as well as "I'm getting two months free!")
  8. +++ MOD HAT +++ Last warning. Please can we get back onto rumours & discussions about rumours. If there aren't any rumours to talk about then it's completely fine not to post anything in this thread - there are plenty of hobby threads to contribute to throughout the forum after all. I'm not particularly impressed with this being the third mod post in as many pages trying to get people to move on. We do our best to be hands off and just nudge conversations on when they go a bit off track, however if members continue to ignore those nudges we're quite happy to issue warnings and bans. It's not a difficult concept, follow the rules and do as you've been asked to do and you'll be fine and dandy.
  9. Out of curiosity, was your impression that the games you played had around about the same number of models per side as the previous version?
  10. +++ MOD HAT +++ Any chance of a bit less bitterness because GW have previewed something that isn't AoS? Appreciate everyone is after new books and models to drop, but some of the comments don't really show us off in a great light. I'll agree that those Necro models will make awesome freeguild characters 😉
  11. Thought it was a little while since I posted an update! The past couple of weeks have largely seen me working on my Zombie Dragon conversion - I'm still not 100% ready to reveal it to the world as there's still quite a lot left to sort including things like finding the "perfect" sized piece of scenery to prop the flipping thing up with (which needs to be 55 ~ 60mm tall 🤦‍♂️) However, here is the rider - broadly it's a simple kitbash, but underneath I've flatted off the base of the chair a bit and drilled out holes for pins.
  12. +++ MOD HAT +++ Any chance of reducing some of the GW business talk within the thread please folks.
  13. +++ MOD HAT +++ A bit less aggressiveness and negativity please folks!
  14. The way I improved my dice counting was to have my dice in distinct sets of ten - so ten blue, ten red, ten green etc. I've probably a dozen "sets" of dice like that, which means I can quickly pick up 23 dice because I just need two sets and three odd. Rolling in a dice tray also helps to contain dice you're rolling - easier for your opponent to see the results and means you've less chance to lose a dice under a piece of scenery.
  15. I think this is going to be highlighted as an issue as we see more events being played. I personally found 3 hours for AoS 2 could be tight in some situations - armies with lots of models tended to require a lot longer to play and some armies were notorious for requiring longer turns. With even more to think about, I also think it's important to not underplay how mentally challenging playing three games in a day actually is - it wasn't uncommon for the last game to take longer if both players were a bit frazzled. I do think AoS 3's heavier monster/hero leaning could help to reduce the time a bit - though arguably there's more things for them to do, so it's possible that won't help much. Smaller game sizes should reduce the game duration, but we're in a really weird situation. 2k was largely the army size that people/events automatically defaulted to when points arrived with AoS. Because of that, many battletomes have been written around the thinking that this is the "normal" game size and we have some armies that don't scale very well to different game sizes. I suppose the real test is going to be when a TO has a gamble and runs a 1500 point event.
  16. You can indeed have more than 4 because they're not counted as behemoth's any more 😉
  17. One item I will add is that you only have 3 units with the monster keyword in your army, so you're not going to get a massive amount of benefit from the Avengorii abilities. Pretty sure that's an oversight on Warscroll Builder. Torgillius is a named character so you'll only be able to put one in your army.
  18. It was Adam Troke who got GW to change their decision and invest in it again. Basically many months worth of badgering and lots of evidence that there was a thriving demand and community behind it.
  19. In an effort not to be outshone by @Overread, I gathered together the models I have assembled so far and took a bad photo for everyone to look at! The vampire from the Underworld warband will be my Zombie Dragon rider Edit: it's 505 points assembled and 1095 if I include the VLoZD & Vargheists 😉
  20. +++ MOD HAT +++ Last warning here. Can we stop the conversation on ethics & philosophy please. If there's nothing left to add to the original topic we'll lock the thread.
  21. +++ MOD HAT +++ Ahem, just a gentle nudge back onto some semblance of the discussion please folks
  22. I think some of this is going to be true by default. We already know they're going to be behind (pandemic) and it was going to be similar to Age of Darkness (plastic & resin, lots of lore based books). I think it becoming a core game isn't true unless it's no longer being handled by Specialist Games (core games are all produced by the main studio which has it's own management structure - specialist games is outside this structure). I do think it'll be given the same or better support that we saw when the first black books were released. The 8 sculptors could simply be them pulling resources from different teams to catch up - it's been done for Bloodbowl & Necromunda in the past. Timescale wise, they quoted 3 to 5 years in the seminar I attended at the New Year Open Day in 2020, so nobody was even considering release the end of this year as possible.
  23. Not really. The point where some people felt they could make money out of GW's IP without repercussions was the start of the "conflict". GW's IP rules have always had a clause in it saying you can't profit from GW's IP - this isn't new. Most of the people who created fan films for free have been contacted by GW and asked to work on stuff for Warhammer+ - not exactly the sign of a machiavellian plot by GW to do over people who made animations in the past. In the case of Sodaz the fact that he got so much flak from the community is awful and anyone who hassled him should be ashamed of themselves.
  24. I'm not necessarily sure that this is correct. Alan's remit was the Heresy/Age of Darkness so to say that it all went awry when he passed away is doing a disservice to the people who have continued to work within that side of the business. They've continued to produce some stunning miniatures in that time - just not 40k and AoS due to decisions outside of FW. My own take (and this has been the case for a few years now) is that Forge World is basically going to turn into the manufacturing/sales brand of Specialist Games. In truth we're almost at that point now.
  25. Thought what I'm about to type was common knowledge, but will put it down here just in case. Probably about 4 years ago, two new teams were created within FW to handle AoS and 40k. Those teams would be responsible for all AoS and 40k offerings from FW - that included new miniatures & rules. I had a really good chat with the chap heading AoS up at a WHFest and they had a whole host of ideas for things like monsters (cross-factional keywords amongst them!). Around 9 months later GW made the decision that they wanted the main studio to be responsible for all content for their main games and the two teams were disbanded, the staff reallocated into other areas and FW rules were handed over to the main studio design teams. So, the situation we currently have is that FW don't have any resources to create new miniatures. Anything that was likely to come out has now come out and the rules & points are the responsibility of the appropriate main studios. The casting part of FW is still producing some miniatures because they're still popular. In my eyes, FW AoS miniatures have basically been pushed to the back of the shelf and left to gather dust. It's a shame as some of them are amazing. What happens longer term - who knows. They may simply be forgotten or we may get the odd points update. I can certainly see the miniatures that are no longer produced being confined to legacy at some point.
