  1. Asked a buddy with the book... he is saying max 4 bases. And Ardboyz are max 20 in response to an IJ post. Here is hoping for the Rogue Idol being the same at 400 with an added BS keyword lol
  2. My hope is 2 bases for 100. Max size is 100x4 (hoping this is the 4) for 8 bases at 400 points. I think this is how it use to be. I haven’t seen the book so I’m just guessing off of reviews
  3. The following is where my head is at. I like to play symmetric armies. I would front line the 8 stabbas. 3 boar casters 6in back to be out of 30. Front line the Boss and the Prophet with 20 arrows on each flank. 30 Boyz behind the 8 stabbas. Probably strung in lines across my zone to stop deep strikers and such. 5in move half the units pre game. If my opponent deploys poor and gives t1 I think I can alpha the buffed stabbas and win most games (Probably won half of all my games this way with 2 FLs doing this back in there day). If you are playing someone good I think you have all of the tools needed to play the mission (and I would not alpha). 100 Sav boss Drakkfoot clan Artifact 120 Boar mage Breath of Gorkamorka 120 Boar mage Bone Spirit 120 Boar mage Brutal Beast Spirits 160 Prophet Drakkfoot clan Trait Mork's Boney Bitz Gorkamorka's War Cry 300 30 Sav boyz 400 8 Big Stabbas 240 20 Sav arrowz in krukk 240 20 Sav arrowz in krukk 140 Krukk Drakkfoot clan 50 CP 1990
  4. My first thought was 8 Big Stabbas for 400 points. Pre game move them 5in. Cast: Breath of Gorkamorka, Bone Spirit, Brutal Beast Spirits. Use CA: for a 6in run and the BS Waaagh. That's a very nice alpha strike imo (22in move before charge T1). I find it incredibly important that in a tournament setting you have the ability to auto win a game if your opponent deploys poorly and you get turn 1. This to me seems like it might do the trick.
  5. Has Warcry led to more, and better, scenery being used in your regular AoS games? For me, the answer is 100% Yes
  6. I have only been skimming things so I’m not sure I fully understand the general question. But hitting on 1s still requires a roll and 1s always fail. That’s a rule from the core rules. best you can ever get is a 2 up reroll. It’s a near guarantee since a fail is only 1/36?
  7. Does official mean a GW store event? We are not at a point yet where the independent tournament scene and events at GW stores use a standardized pack like say the game MTG where one can just say we are playing “standard” or “modern”. So definitely ask the TO hosting the event what the ruling will before hand. If they can’t answer then it’s not an event worth attending imo. The below is from the FHGT. A recent and large UK independent event. But again this is not standardized and just the ruling for 1 event. LVO, Acon, etc could have different rules in any given year. The only official rules regarding a question like this for AOS would be found on PG 70-71 of the GH. It says something like the model must be a GW model, it must be on the correct based, and it must be painted. LVO said last year: ”Models should be WYSIWYG. Painting is required - all models should be painted to a standard of 3 colors and be based.” Below is how I approach it. The top is how I base my army... and below is just a GW standard basing approach that I do for my endless spells and just make sure they are rimmed the same so I can plug them into any army.
  8. Since GW doesn’t really push for balance... rather semi balance and a rotation of strong units.... all I have to say is: About time destro has some filth!!! Not since the days of Battle Brew and the FL have we been a true threat!
  9. My opinion is they must use the proper base size and you should paint the rims to match your army.... Other than that do what you want imo.... I’ve always thought clear bases are totally fine as long as they are the correct measurements.
  10. Only other ones I remember are the mounted Slaanesh lord being in promotional art but not in the book. Bonesplitterz wyvern was in some art but does not have rules. The organ gun was shown this morning and I don’t think that’s in the cities book (and will probably be transitioning out of matched play next year) I would say there is definitely a disconnect with the Art, Community, Rules teams... but it’s not a huge disconnect imo. Just a frustrating one.
  11. ^ Additionally there are easy conversation options to replace the finecast.
  12. Proxy/count as the boyz as Ardboyz. That way we can all be playing the same game.
  13. “forging your much-loved collections of aelves, humans and duardin into a single, deadly force” At least we know cities will be an incredibly strong book. GW said they will be “deadly”... just like GHB ogres
  14. Yea I haven’t seen it either. And that’s the problem. Communication is poor. Most probably haven’t seen it. Maybe it is on FB. I’m not on FB much.
  15. I’m just guessing but I suspect they will discontinue old plastics like warriors and marauders. Seems a general trend to only be keeping plastics from the 2004-2006 era (and removing all finecast unless it’s a needed character) Black Orcs, Chaos Knights, Marauders on Horse, Great Swords, Sav Orcs, Hammers, Iron Breakers etc etc.
  16. People have seen the below picture yes? Clearly they are not copy and pasted TK for AOS like Gloomspite... but come on, of course they are the spiritual successor. Heck you could even use the below picture for a guide for "count as models" and it wouldn't be that confusing on what model is what.
  17. I thought the same, and they would add the nice plastics for old dark elves and high elves into this book. I still think we will see a brothers book with light and dark subfactions. Guess if we do it will be made up of new kits? Maybe it's not the worse thing if we get a new range similar in size to IDK (Which I think is a decent size for a tome).
  18. I believe you are correct on past trends. If they are re-merging BCR and Gutbusters I believe that would also be a first however (Re-merging a tome with GA units not in the tome). Since it is uncharted territory I worry for my metal cats, hunter, and yetis. I could see them getting the axe rather than replaced with plastics if they are recombined. Since this is a rumor thread I'd note that everything I am hearing is that merger is happening... this is not what I was expecting a year ago.
  19. I do not agree or support this. I also think the GW communication on these squats was awful. I for one had bought a fair few gitmob and greenskinz in the last year. That said I do not want any unsupported lines of models in Pitched Battles. And as the game is currently constructed the concept of points is a Pitched Battles thing (read the rules if you disagree). Pitched Battles are a subset of Matched Play (pg 310) Open play is for two players who know each other and legends is great there (pg 270) Narrative Play has a GM who should set up armies / rules for armies (pg 281). Legends can also fit well here. Finally you could play Matched Play without points and use wounds (pg 308). This is also legends compatible.
  20. A nice stat is that there are 101ish Order warscrolls not in a battletome, 25ish Chaos warscrolls, 18ish Destruction warscrolls, and 0 Death warscrolls. GW has been doing a good job transitioning Grand Alliance X books to battletomes over the last 3 years (the 4 chaos god books and LoN did a lot of the heavy lifting). Once we get Ogres, Slaves, and Cities most of these warscrolls will be in a tome. Safe bet the rest will die off over the next year or 2 and not make it into the GH. AOS is in a better place than 40k model wise imo. With the recent round of squatting we are left with a lot of good plastic kits and limited finecast. If you look at 40k they are releasing the new marine codex but haven't made it full primaris. It is going to suck for players in 2-4 years when they completely phase them out, yet need to buy these old models to stay competitive since they are in the book. We are in a place soon where if a friend is to buy army most models he picks will be relevent for a long time.
  21. If you ask your TO before hand I think this is 100% the best use for old models. Armies look nice. They arent even "proxies" since the models are not in production and can't be confused with there actual warscroll. I'd call them "count as". "count as" models have been legal at LVO forever and that probably wont change soon.
  22. They have moved away from that stance wiht the GH19: They did not fully commit and add it to the core rules or matched play rules. But they note their intent for events requiring rounds on pg 70. I included the bold section that also notes that TOs can do as they please.
