  1. Bit of a slow week but making some progress: Boltthrower crew are done. Still need grass but should probably varnish them first. Got myself some of the GameZone elf spearmen and they are exceptionally nice sculpts- not sure how to keep my red and white scheme going without risking making them look like Father Christmas, though. Surprised I wasn't able to find pictures of these before because they really are fantastic. Probably going to use them as Eternal Guard - they fit the phalanx rule nicely. And have some mage support because an automatic unbind and a little resurrection is never bad.
  2. Just checked and yeah, there's the Reaper Bolt Thrower bold as brass. That's pretty funny. The difference between Index and Compenium is if those units were Index 40k units they would have keywords that match their army and could be dropped painlessly into a force. The Poison Wind Mortar is even included in the pictures in the Skaven Battletome but as it doesn't have the Skaventide keyword can't be used without wrecking your army - my rough riders (converted from AoS outriders and Cadians) just give me a cool looking unit.
  3. Well I've ordered one now so I'll tell you how it works out.
  4. I did in the last two surveys but as it's a feature not a bug I was almost certainly wasting my time. This isn't a one off incident- the strategy they have decided to use in AoS is to remove old models from the keyword of the main army. Look at the compendium wood elves waywatchers (which have beautful models) and compare the usability in a wanderers army (where including them would remove your allegiance putting an already weak army at a crushing disadvantage) with my index Rough Riders for my Imperial Guard in 40k (which just give me a slightly sub par unit when I use them). This isn't something they don't know about, it's the strategy the two different teams chose to pursue, the 40k team is more customer focused ('use your old stuff if you want but don't you want to buy these awesome new plastic sisters?' - spoiler: I do) and the AoS team is more sales focused (buy new stuff or lose).
  5. OK looking at the War Hydra and I'm I'mdering why they aren't seen more in Mixed Order lists- for 170 points and 1 behemoth slot you seem to get quite a bit of punch for your points and with the flat 3 wound regen in your hero phase it's going to be pretty resistant to erosion. They aren't quick enough to be a true offensive piece but for contesting mid field objectives it seems quite adequate (and great at the cost) so what am I missing? Curious what the flaw is before I drop £40 on one and never use it again.
  6. This is a while late (sorry) - sold some FEC to @Souleater and he was basically an ideal buyer.
  7. It's all fun and games until the rules force them to follow the Bad Moon across the board.
  8. Warhammer community were pushing Greenskinz less than a month before they stopped selling the Start Collecting. I got the start collecting and the Wyvern boss a month before that and kind of still want to do a combined Orruk army (do the little orruks greenskinned and the Ironjawz red skinned Warcraft III style with a Guldan style Weirdnob) but now can't get hold of the basic Orruk warriors. If basic Orruks ever come back I'll complete the army and buy the Ironjawz segment but until then It'll sit new in it's packaging gaining value for resale - I'm easy either way.
  9. Such a terrible profile without the BoJ but so great with it. Having trouble converting the model into something I like the look of, though. Not so keen on the hyper edgy look.
  10. The artillery pieces. The artillery pieces that they were still selling at the start of this year. That's the real issue for me- you can buy an item from the website and months later it's scenery - I didn't buy the goblin arty but I did buy 3 x Dawnspire boxes a couple of years ago and my Skaven can no longer use the mortar (on of the newest plastic kits in the skaven range). As a 40k customer I get treated way better than I do as an AoS customer. I'm hoping for the greenskinz thing myself just because Ironjawz don't work thematically without them- Ironjawz are bigger, tougher, orruks but without standard orruks what are they bigger and tougher than? To have a size large you need a size medium or a size small - if everybody is super then nobody is.
  11. That's what we generally do- we use matched play as the base then make whatever nudges we need to make it fit the scenario we had in mind. Also custom units - some stuff just fits the story.
  12. No idea but they appear to have been completely deleted from both the app and the ghb in the case of the warmachines etc so they seem to have been fully removed. Which is shady as all hell considering they were selling them 6 months ago.
  13. Mortars don't have the Skaventide keyword so if they use them they lose their allegiance abilities, spell lores etc. So if they bring mortars rejoice as the game just got a lot easier (yeah the units they were selling a couple of years ago in an Age of Sigmar branded box now destroy your army).
  14. Yeah taken a break from the Skaven to run (compendium Highborn based) Mixed Aelves for a slow grow (playing Skaven into a bunch of new players would not be fun for anybody) and I'm really feeling it already. The advantage the other side has is massive. Weirdly I'm having more fun than I was with my Skaven - pulled a win last night and it felt great in a way it wouldn't have as Skaven.
  15. It may be because there's no hobby aspect in card games- it's all crunch. Painting an army is a labour of love (unless it's just a 3 colour minimum, or shipped off to a commission painter) and the fluff in wargames often conflicts with the crunch (in 40k the best anti-aircraft gun I have as imperial guard is a flamethrower tank. my dedicated AA gun is terrible).
  16. Mine tend to be majority painted but I'm constantly swapping in and out units as new ideas occur to me (got to paint a Tenebreal Shard for that very reason- ran a little experiment with a Sword of Judgement on one and decided it needs further exploration).
  17. Added a strap for the shield this musician will be wearing on his back. Probably a waste of time as nobody I play against will ever notice it.
  18. Yeah I guess if you get lucky it can be a bit crazy. 50% chance for 3+ mw, 25% for 6+, 12.5% for 10+ I guess those aren't terrible odds but of course it's got a 50% chance of doing exactly 1 so you've got to love to gamble
  19. That's fantastic- will be keeping a close eye on where this goes! What sort of army are you planning to run? Gor swarm? Or something more minotaur based?
  20. Against my mixed High Elves . Move forward and either shoot or charge (depending on the focus of the unit in question) my units. As a general rule much of my stuff is rather overcosted and I don't get allegiance abilities so following that simple guide you should win the vast majority of games.
  21. Looks good to me and that caster wedge should keep the 'Nix tough. What inspired the choice of Drakeseer over Archmage on Dragon? 20 points gets you an extra cast/unbind and the bonus to unbind (although I guess it also comes with the need to rely on realm spells).
  22. Test fit for the Archmage on Dragon. Not sure how to paint the mages - may go with black robes to differentiate them. Edit: For today's addition is a quick bolt thrower- crew are undercoated but still a way off. If the High Elves had spent more on swords and less on gems to cover everything maybe their fate would have been brighter. Thinking of how to make the Tenebrael Shard look less rubbish- anybody figured out how to make it look less edgy?
  23. Ha! The reason they don't have emblems on there already is that I've been completely failing at designing/picking one.
  24. Thanks! Our armies have pretty similar themes
