  1. Curiously, whilst actively wanting rumours, people in this thread also hate them.
  2. The only thing I would be wary of with six Stormfiends- apart from how much less impactful they can be in combat now you have to take mixed weapons- is battleshock. A bad roll losing you one Stormvermin is bearable. Losing a six or seven wound model the same way would sting.
  3. Perhaps it will update the list builder on Saturday, when the book officially releases?
  4. I apologise for my ****** retentiveness when it comes to thread titles @5kaven5lave but thank you! Good work there @Fabint
  5. You're right about the podcasts being interesting... but @lord_blackfangwas joking 😉
  6. You can take a unit with the MASTERCLAN keyword as your general without it breaking your allegiance.
  7. I have a vague memory of them reading it out loud on Facehammer, I will relisten to see what I find. Meanwhile, there is this:
  8. Ah, I see, we're going with the old, "They've done it before, so it's right" angle. I fail to see how because one is largely ignorant of the comings and goings of a different army in a different system that this should somehow have been expected and foreseen- the only time this has happened in AoS, to the best of my knowledge, was with Kharadron Thunderers, and it happened relatively soon after their release. Stormfiends have been in AoS since the very beginning, and since that time, I have been actively encouraged (explicitly by staff, and tacitly by coverage) to convert my models. I converted my very first box of Stormfiends that got me back into the hobby (sadly now broken after my son got hold of them a while back), not because I was powergaming (which is the accusation going around) but because I thought both gauntlet options looked naff, so I cut off the extra bits and gave the guy the drills instead. Now if, during the long months of having been posting in the Skryre thread, there had been a regular chorus of, "Well, be careful, the rules are probably going to change!" then I might have considered not pursuing conversions (which, I thought, was a fundamental part of the hobby- encouraging players to make the models their own). If, when talking about it with GW staff, they had said, "hmm, maybe just stick to the builds in the box", I might have had second thoughts and this tedious argument of yours might have a leg to stand on. Neither of those things happened, and so it does not. At the end of the day, it is a fundamentally sneaky thing to do. That might be thematic, given that it's Skaven, but it is driving me mad watching the apologising for it you do.
  9. FFS man, is there something I've been unclear about? I am angry because I either have to chop up my models or buy more to have valid units, not because of some "subtle elements" or because there might be some combo that might become apparent after we have subjected the battletome to academic study.
  10. If they wanted to stop Stormfiends abusing warpfire, why not just nerf warpfire? I have written my strongly-worded email to GW, so I've largely vented all my grumpiness, but I still hate it.
  11. I can't say for certain until Thursday, just that that's the impression I've got from two different reviews. If that isn't the intent, why bother with the '100%' wording?
  12. I have no idea as to what's best yet, but if you want to go pure Skryre allegiance, you can still take Masterclan units as your general. So Warpseer, Warpgnaw and Skreech Verminking.
  13. I want to say- and nobody will be happier than me if I'm wrong- that the requirement that 100% of your army has the [clan] keyword in order to gain conditional battleline stops you taking any allies at all.
  14. SO. This shouldn't actually be that difficult. Step 1: cast More-more Warp Power on the Acolytes in question. They can now reroll missed hits and wounds. Step 2: target horde unit with more than 10 models. We are now 3+ 4+, rerolling misses. Step 3: use a warpstone spark to add +1 to the Acolytes' damage. 3+ 4+ rerolling misses, rend 2 damage d3+1. Now I'm not usually a mathhammer guy, so I may have got this wrong, but assuming 20 Acolytes, an armour save of 4+ and damage 3 (median average of d3+1), there is a 74% chance of doing between 15 and 27 damage. Whether this is worth the buffs for what would be a 240 point unit remains to be seen.
  15. To make Acolytes and Stormfiends battleline, you must be 100% Skryre (excepting the option to have a Masterclan general). As such, you cannot take any Clanrats. The alternative is to just go regular Skaventide, in which case you will need a minimum of 60 Clanrats (3x20) at 2000 points. This is extremely irritating because it invalidates some armies, ensuring a Skryre player either needs to buy more Clanrats or go without them altogether.
  16. It's also a minimum of £20 more, if you only have 40 Clanrats.
  17. It is dumb as rocks and while I'll work around it, I am not going to be reconciled to it any time soon. It should have been Clanrats as generic battleline, and then a Plague Priest (is there a higher level for Pestilens? I don't pay much attention to the sickos) unlocks Plague Monks; Arch Warlock unlocks Acolytes and/or Stormfriends; Deathrunner (RIP) unlocks Gutter Runners; Master Moulder unlocks Rat Ogors; Clawlord unlocks Stormvermin. Someone at GW has a head injury.
  18. I can still use my Warpgnaw but have to make him my general, hmm? Who in their right minds would let a Warpgnaw Verminlord be a general? They cray-cray, more than in a usual Skaven way!
  19. Their range surely isn't conducive to that? A couple of small units to stop (or more likely just delay!) deep strikers/appear-out-of-nowhere-ers around the WLCs, sure, but I'm trying to think of ways to buff them up and get them doing tremendous-great damage. A warpstone spark for sure, are there any other ways we have to stack to-hit and to-wound rolls?
  20. Trying to figure out a way to make Acolytes OP be like
  21. I guess I'm either going to have to get more Clanrats to fill minimum battleline requirements or another box of Stormfiends and build them all as grinders or ratlings and do a similar list to @5kaven5lave, but I gotta try and get Thanquol in there. He's such a beast now. ...does anyone have a Thanquol sprue? 😥
  22. The WLC has a flat save of 4+ now though, right? So it's a win overall. On-on with Acolytes. 15 so far... not sure how many more Stormvermin and Admech bits I have to make more! Need more gasmasks and backpacks and ghoul arms...
  23. This book, in a vacuum, is not a bad book. Hell, it's not even a bad book full stop- there are a lot of things I like about the rules, and there're a lot of new things I'm looking forward to trying (my painstakingly converted Jezzails finally have an excuse to get on the field, for instance). But it doesn't exist in a vacuum- it has come into a hobby environment where people have existing collections that cost a lot of money. I've got €150's worth of Stormfiends I can't use in the official rules now, my only recourse being to cut up these things I put a lot of time and effort and heart into, or buy more. It is difficult to imagine what the "good reason" for this might be, or what other option there might be. Apart from just not playing. Edit: I am extra irritated right now, having just been listening to Facehammer's episode on the book and listening to the three of them basically being smug and having a giggle about the Stormfiend changes. With a little luck I will not be so genuinely upset in the morning.
  24. The way battleline has been organised in this book is... not good. Skaven 'clan' armies were restricted in their composition before, and are even more restricted now. I can't use any of my Clanrats! I've got 40. That was a nice fodder unit I could ally in before. Completely unusable now, unless I break them into two units of 20 for a Vanguard-level battle. If I seem really unhappy it's because GW has ensured that I have to fork out another €75 to make my army functional, whilst taking things away from me, unless I rely on the goodwill of my opponent in an unofficial setting. This is absolutely not what I was hoping for when I was excited about the prospect of more Skaven.
