  1. Also this has probably been talked about but can we use a Linebreaker battalion with 1 Mega and 2 Mancrushers? Looks like in the new GHB it says the Mancrushers are straight up Battleline, not Behemoths. Seems like now we cannot? But if that's the case could we use the Vanguard, and the Battle Regiment? One could do a Stomper Tribe with 1 Warstomper and 3x3 Mancrushers in that for a 1 drop army, which may or may not be amazing.
  2. If the Petrifex rule says they ignore Rend-1, or something like they treat Rend-1 as Rend-, then I don't think that's the same as them having a +1 to saves for that decreasing Rend stacking effect. Unless it's FAQd? Seems like some other units with shields have that wording (some sort of Seraphon I ran into at some point).
  3. Yeah, Khorgoraths used to be monsters, then they lost it with the new tome. I also liked them in units of 3 but oh well. A duet is good for them.
  4. Glad to hear the Sons are gettin the job done right. Congratulations! Do you think the double Gateys with Loathing outweighs the Taker Tribe objective model count (which would also require using a single Gatey in 2k for 4 megas)? Reason I ask is there's a 3000 point tournie in September. I'm having difficulty deciding between Taker Tribe and Breaker Tribe. I'm also hankering to bring along Kragnos. It's between a Gatebreaker/2 Warstompers/1 Kraken-Eater/2 single Mancrushers/ Kragnos or 2 Gatebreakers/2 Warstompers/1 Kraken-Eater/3 single Mancrushers Taker Tribe will almost always win on objective counts, but even with the CAs and Titanic Duels and Finest Hours, the Gateys sure do like to hate things and hit them better naturally. Guess Breaker Tribe is best with multiple Gatebreakers. Sidenote, I noticed Warscroll Builder isn't letting me make a unit of 3 Mancrushers. Anyone else have that glitch?
  5. But dbl Gateys are AWESOME! Supersmash bros. Kraken-eater has helped about half the time, the other half the kicking hasn't made a difference. I still have to try the Warstomper one of these days.
  6. I'm wondering if you can get rid of the Gorger to upgrade the HoSH to a FLoSH? Though I suppose the Gorger can help you fill out a batallion and deepstrike to an unsuspecting objective.
  7. I think chaos warhounds are good screens. And while not marked Khorne, they sort of jive with Khorne being hounds. Their speed can get them ahead if needed or keep them back to take a charge that can wipe or nearly wipe them, allowing the Skullreapers behind to pile in when it's their turn.
  8. You mean Spider-rider bows don't cut it? 🙄 Really seems like the old Doomdivers should make a return. Those would be a good addition to the Gitz. A dedicated boulder lobbing Troggoth (like the Cygor) could be a good one too. Like with really long arms and super big hands but little teensy feet. The SquigGobba thing from Forgeworld is fun but I'm turned off by using FW units in general.
  9. We need to tinker with ways to get Bullgors into the Blades armies without going into crazy levels of drop counts. Or perhaps it doesn't even matter if one has 16 units to get 4 units of them in there?
  10. Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Bloodstoker doesn't need to do anything but unleash the Brazen Rune and whip those deadbeat mortals into fury; he's not meant to be a threat or distraction. I agree, he will never be a priority target for most. I think a Bloodsecrator with the big blob of Blood Warriors in a Vanguard detachment would be great, as the Goretide could let them run and charge plus 6" on the run, and the battalion bonus could let the Bloodsecrator run up 6" for free once to get him closer. Any banner artefact on him would be good. I'm gonna give that a try; I have 20 Gorefist BWs. All out defense on them and that's a decent tank. Heck, a Slaughterpriest could Bless them for a 6++ and they'd be super duper annoying! Enemies can be clever, but so we can we. That's the game, man!
  11. For my theoretical 2 Warlord battalion army, one of the extra artefacts will be a Brazen Rune. The mortal heroes are not the killiest so the Bloodstoker can take the Rune. Very handy for that key spell, good vs Teclis or Kroak, etc. Many people forget the Bloodsecrator's effect of having to reroll successful casting rolls within 16" of him, BEFORE any unbinding attempts. What all has to happen for a Goretide BW unit to go that fast? Bloodstoker+Goretide CA? It would be loathsome but fun to ally in a wizard like the Shaggoth or a cheapo Bray Shaman to cast levitate on 30 Bloodwarriors. But that's a tough spell to cast....especially when anywhere near all the anti-magic stuff of Khorne.
  12. Not a good reason, but he is super killy in combat, counts as 5 models. His 200 more points though, ugh, that just ruins it for me. But for the Orruks, the should-be-god-of-Centigors will make them super duper good somehow.
  13. Good point on the Grand Strategies. Not an easy task for any all around Khorne Build. Beast Master is feasible with Ghorgons, Cygors, Manticore Lord, of course Bloodthirsters, Soul Grinders. I'm liking Skullfiend Tribe now, as I have 2 Khorgoraths, and I think I want 2 more. They count as 2 models each, WOOT, and are pretty tanky and killy anyways. Plus they other decent stuff reasonably applicable to a variety of builds. But Slaughterhost isn't super necessary. No mandatory artefact and CT is sometimes nice.
  14. Here are the pertinent rules verbatim: in the FAQ : Q: Some abilities allow a unit to be set up ‘instead of making a normal move’. Does a unit set up with such an ability count as having moved? A: No, unless the ability specifically states otherwise. Then the Soulscream Bridge bit: ABILITIES Deathly Passage: Those who pass across a Soulscream Bridge travel the tides of deathly magic, bypassing physical obstructions. At the start of your movement phase, friendly units wholly within 6" of one Soulscream Bridge model from this endless spell can travel across the Soulscream Bridge. If they do so, remove that unit from the battlefield and set it up again wholly within 6" of the other Soulscream Bridge model from this endless spell, more than 9" from any enemy units. That unit cannot make a normal move that phase. Then the Leadbelcher rule: This unit's Leadbelcher Guns have an Attacks characteristic of D6 instead of D3 if this unit did not make a move in the same turn. What do people think? Seems like D6 to me.
  15. I also have never used Bloodletters except for summoning. They never seem to do the job; hopefully they'll get some love in the next book. Guess you could try with a Bloodsecrator and Wrathmongers running up behind them for extra attacks=extra MW? That's all I can think of, and not pure daemons either. Seems like a Bloodsecrator could be a decent general if he had the Amulet of Destiny, as he has good armor, but certainly not an upfront general. Other than that I'd vote for a Wrath of Khorne Thirster for general. Decent mortals army....gotta have some Skullreapers, and a Bloodstoker, and I think Blood Warriors and Korgos Khul, also possibly with a Mighty Lord of Khorne. All slowpokes but the table is a bit narrower now and they have good auras to make the regular blokes charge and hit a bit better. But how to push it over the limit, I think just maxiumum threat overload? Hoping to get some practice with them this week actually. Probably vs Ogors, so good test vs a tough enemy, full of blood. Tonight I made this list however thinking of how can I put my Bullgors in there. Can't fit all 18, but 4x3 of them is decent: 2 Bloodsecrators (1 is general, but can't decide on CT, or even if I should take a Slaughterhost for this) 2 Daemon Princes (1 sword, 1 axe) 3x5 Flesh Hounds 2x3 Bullgors w great axes 2x3 Bullgors w axe n shield 2 single Chaos Spawn 2 Mindstealer Sphiranxes (allies) 1x6 Furies (allies) Idea being that the Daemon Princes strike first anyways and can tag team something reasonably strong, whilst the cats hopefully freeze the minds of two other enemy units so the rest of the army can come in and chop them up before getting struck back. Spawn and Furies can take Unleash Hell, and the Furies (if they live) can retreat from combat when chosen as a target, thus being cowardly like Skaven and annoying everyone. Apparently they cannot take a Mark of Chaos?!? Oh well, they don't deserve the Mark of Khorne, they stink.
  16. Since units don't count as having made a normal move if they're set up instead of moving, and the Bridge not permitting a normal move after crossing, and the Leadbelchers firing D6 shots if they haven't moved yet in the turn....can they fire D6 shots after the Bridge? Or does the teleporting count as a move even though it's not a "Normal Move" ? This is where the older warsroll is sort of not caught up with the new rules. I'll vote yes though because I have 8 Leadbelchers 😛
  17. I better read the GHB. I've not heard of the Hunters in the Heartlands battalion. But I agree, a whole bunch more to think about for army construction. However with yours there I wouldn't worry as much about the bodies, perhaps focus more on the battle tactics they can achieve every turn; and on the Grand Strategy they can achieve. More than one way to win games now!
  18. With their Slavering Maw, and an extra attack with it from a Bloodsecrator, or maybe another one with Wrathmongers, I'd say they're pretty solid for their points with the new monster rules. I also like the Cygors; is 2 Cygors better than 1 Soul Grinder, or better than 1 regular Bloodthirster? Hmmmm . If you can fit 16 total units in your army, you could get 2 of each to fill out all the Behemoth slots for less than 1/3 of your points in a 2K game! Kinda cool we can make a Khorne army with using only 1/4 Blades of Khorne units. 3x5 Flesh Hounds for Battleline, and everything else Beasts and Slaves to Darkness IF we want to do that. Big IF though.
  19. I am cobbling together what I thought should be a Skarbrand from some Bloodthirster arms and legs I got cheap, and a Ghorgon torso (which I cut shorter). But is Skarbrand worth taking over an Insensate Rage Thirster who can take the Amulet of Destiny? Should I be making both? I was also considering a Soul Grinder, but the Rage Thirster isn't that much more in points.
  20. That was one of the best little stories I've read in a long long time! From the Ogor perspective too, and a horror movie type of story from who is usually the bad guy in those Wrong Turn types. Really looking forward to see the models for the new units. And to seeing what they can do together. Points will prohibitive for Gordrak, Gobsprakk, and Kragnos all in on Orruks army. But all together I bet they'll nigh unstoppable. Unless Kragnos lacks any further supportive rules.
  21. Welcome to the stomping grounds! I agree that the Taker Tribe seems to be pretty strong now and that's the one I'll be using now. Breaker Tribe is solid but there are so many ways to get +1 to hit the extra model count for objectives in Taker Tribe becomes gravy. 2 Kraken-eaters could be pretty fun for a football match; but I think I might go 2 Warstompers actually. It makes a better bid for a Triumph but also their jump up and down is twice as good as the Kraken-eater's stomp, and their Hurled Body attack is potentially amazing for causing the coherency breaks in feeble tiny model units. If you magnetize a few bits you could make one that could be either version. The Gatebreaker needs the big flail though and that's a great damage dealer to have.
  22. Mortal Wounds on all 6s to Hit on every unit in the army is very strong. And the Swampcalla Shaman is super good at buffing that on a unit to a 5+, and then a 2nd one could cast the Mist. It will be very interesting to see what buffs they get with a Big Waaagh in the next Warclans tome, plus what the heck Kragnos (their new venerated god) will do for them and all other Orruks as well. I'm guessing he'll provide plain hard battleshock immunity in either a bubble or army wide if he's the general. With the new monsters, and being a new faction they want to sell, they'll be strong enough but probably in a different way than Ironjawz.
  23. So the White Dwarf rules are still useable then?! I mean, besides the battalions..... That's excellent. For Troggoths too. I like that we will be able to take Kruleboyz too as allies. Seems like they might be able to help us out in some aspect. I wonder if their Troggoth will be able to benefit from the Troggboss at all?
  24. If the Kruelboyz are part of Orruk Warclans, they'll be able to be allies with my Spiderfang (hopefully vice versa). That's pretty fun! Love all the new swamp monsters. Really hoping that Swamp Troggoth has just the Troggoth keyword, so those can be allies for my Ogors too.
