  1. Grabbed a Knight Questor from a guy in town. Put it together, got it mostly painted. Just because it seems fun. Really considering making an effort to get my hands on an Errant Questor...
  2. Hahahahaha I've to date never rolled the damage for the Venator's super arrow. Fired it 3 times on Saturday. 1 to hit, then 1 to wound, then 6 to save. Failed it three different ways. LOL
  3. Don't mind me, I'm just putting this scrollbuilder link here from my phone so I can refer to it later from my PC. http://bit.ly/2b94yjL
  4. For GH Matched Play comp, I'd add "Battleline units that are good enough that you'd be taking them anyway". So, for Stormcasts for instance, you'd probably be taking Judicators whether they were Battleline or not. But for Dispossessed, without the requirement for Battleline you'd probably take Ironbreakers or Hammerers over Warriors or Longbeards. So there's an inherent advantage to Stormcasts in the comparison.
  5. Well. Turns out that out of all the vast selection of models and armies I have, I only have two armies I can field in bog-standard Matched Play. Minimum-unit-size Moonclan (ie. with three 20-model units of Grots - simultaneously too many and not enough, if you follow me), or Stormcasts. So in the short term while I work on painting Bonesplitterz and maybe re-basing some Dwarf warriors, it looks like Stormcast are about it for the short term. So here's what I'll be using at a local 1000pt random partner doubles event in a few weeks. ( I also haven't yet done a lot of formation research on Stormcasts yet, to know which ones I want to buy piecemeal in the app, so no formations.) HEROES Knight Heraldor (120) Knight Venator (120) UNITS Liberators x 15 (300) - Warhammer & Shield - Grandhammers : 3 Judicators x 5 (160) - Skybolt Bows - Shockbolt Bow : 1 Paladin Retributors x 5 (220) - Starsoul Maces : 2 Prosecutors with Stormcall Javelins x 3 (80) WOUNDS: 71 TOTAL POINTS: 1000
  6. I've been looking at using a Orc Warboss on Wyvern with my Savage Orcs, and so the self-buffing traits seem the most attractive. But it's a lot of eggs in one basket, especially with more limited Mystic Shields.
  7. Dunno. I didn't have to buy the Razorwings, since I've had them in my bits for years. Anyway, finished off my Stormcast Air Force. 10 Liberators almost done on my painting table - that will get me to a legal army with minimum-sized 1 Judicator and 2 Liberator units. Still feels a bit short of boots on the ground to me, but we'll see.
  8. Managed to resubmit an entirely new list before the deadline. Sad to not use my new toys, but this will be better for everyone.
  9. I've made a terrible mistake. I'm not going to win a single game at our event this month. It's blindingly obvious to me now, but it completely escaped me at the time. There's nothing in there to fight with. It's all shooting and gimmicks. Needs one more "boots on the ground" unit at least, and fewer Stormcast characters. The problem ultimately is one that I accept - I really want to use some expensive models that I've got painted in a way that i like. The Steam Tank, Celestial Hurricanum, and Irondrakes end up being well over 50 pools all on their own, and they are the bits that I like the best. But then to try to cram a useful Stormcast fragement in there in the remaining 40-ish pools is just too hard. In hindsight, if I wanted to use those three units, I probably should have just taken the Celestant-Prime and more Dwarfs. Trying for a 50/50 blend of two distinct armies doesn't cut it, but going like 85/15 I think would be great.
  10. Also, it seems likely that I should have had this thread in Blogs rather than Painting and Modelling. Oh well. LOL
  11. Pretty happy with that for a 125 SCGT army. I suspect that, Battleplan dependent of course, the Prime and Gyros will be on the sidelines most games at 100 pools. And probably 5 of the Drakes. That gets me down to 99. But in mobility/get across the board scenarios, the Drakes will draw the short straw probably.
  12. The big question, now that I'm done everything (pics tonight maybe - I'm pretty much done with a very simple display board)... What do I do for the purpose of Battleline units? There's just one in my 125 SCGT order list (5 Judicators). Options include: Do some Liberators (zzzzzz snore booooring) Rebase some Quarrellers that are very old and I don't like the paint job, but they are done Paint some new Quarrellers - not a project I'm really interested in. Find some other Order Battleline units to paint - booo, I was hoping to move on to something else. I suppose Liberators is the easiest way to get something that looks OK and matches the rest of the army. But then I can move on to other projects. Too bad Prosecutors aren't Battleline units, I've got 6 of those on my table in progress already...
  13. Making some great progress. I made matching bases for a big pile of previously painted Order stuff. Gonna touch up that stuff a bit to make it match, ie. gemstone paints lol. Hoping to have a bunch of Stormcast done this weekend. (I'm also giving my 5 year old a bunch of Orc Arrer Boyz. See what she can do with them tomorrow. Not too worried since I have like 150 of them...)
  14. Only the faithful!

  15. In theory I agree. In practice, though, some of the very best armies are already single-faction (thinking of things like Stormcasts, Seraphon, etc.) and so they only get better, while some of the others are only functional in combination. Many "traditional" armies are several keyword factions joined together already - you can make a balanced Seraphon army that plays well in every phase of the game out of a single keyword, but you really struggle to do a Dispossessed one, and it's practically impossible to do one out of former Empire or Dark Elf warscrolls. Sort of like how in previous editions, in theory objective-based scenarios were supposed to be a great leveller, but in practice it was the armies that were already very good that ended up also being the most suited to objective-based scenarios. Anyway, this isn't some great mystery, so hopefully its all taken into account.
  16. Here's my list (125 SCGT) 40 Moonclan Grots - 14 9 Grot Fanatics - 15 1 Mangler Squig - 10 2 Grot Warbosses on Great Cave Squig - 8 3 Grot Shamans - 9 5 Grot Squig Hoppers - 4 9 Sourbreath Troggoths - 30 6 Leadbelchers - 14 1 Tyrant - 6 1 Thundertusk - 15 Just to give me something to work on, I need to finish off the Leadbelchers and Tyrant, and re-base the Thundertusk.
  17. Event Title: Warhammer'd - Calgary Event Author: amysrevenge Calendar: Events Canada Event Date: 07/23/2016 12:00 AM to 07/24/2016 12:00 AM Its that time of year again, Warhammer'd will once again make its Glorious Return, July 23rd and 24th , in Calgary Alberta, at Glamorgan Community Center. But this year things are a bit different, It will be AGE OF SIGMAR! Warhammer'd at first glance looks a lot like a tournament, however it is first and foremost a community building event. The idea is for players to play in something unlike the rest of the events that Ultimate Gamers runs throughout the year. It will be a casual setting with an emphasize on community, hobbying, and of course gaming. NOTE: At this time the event is SOLD OUT, but if you're interested, drop me a line anyway. NOTE 2: I'm not the TO, but he's not super active on this forum like I am. Warhammer'd - Calgary

  19. Getting some great progress going. Very close to done the first set of models. Still need to do a wash to get some more details out - the photo of the Venator doesn't do it justice, as the colours seem all flattened out. In real life the armour has more shade to it.
  20. I'm hoping that if there is a tax, it won't be that onerous of a tax. If they divide models into Hero, Monster, War Machine, and [everything else] for instance, and then require a minimum amount of [everything else] then it's not the worst. But mostly I hope for almost no restrictions beyond points. Even SCGT is a bit too limited for me regarding things like maximum duplicate warscrolls.
  21. Not handy no. It's of similar height to the GW one but broader of chest.
