  1. Is Be'lakor a good addition to Slaanesh or well,. is using Slaanesh and Be'lakor in the Legion of Chaos Ascendant a good option? It has been a while (who knows how long during lockdown right? haha) since I read the slaanesh options but I recall being intrigued by them.
  2. I saw that! I just didn't want your post to get ignored. I honestly just come and look directly at the threads for my army and rarely contribute or read any that are more generic. Just a timing thing at my age.
  3. I meant you have 48, see if you can find someone who will sell or give you 2 so you can run 30, 10, 10. That would do pretty good as a start as you can then with the Branchwraith play the battalion which is always handy. I would really hope Dryads are re-sculpted. The Revenant prices keep them from being sold on mass. Plus they could make them fit more with the current trend of aesthetic for Sylvaneth. I would also hate to see my 70 get moved into the Compendium/Index/Legends. Haha I have 12 Harpies. Oh man,.. just,.. it's a mix of nostalgia of buying blister packs as a kid to what's sensible now. I appreciate the bat rep is on the shorter side of time. 90+ minute bat reps are too long. Regarding the Scruby & Wells comment I think there is a noticeable bit wrong with the book that seems to hold the army back from stronger standings. There doesn't seem to be a strong magical component, Ancients lack at least a second cast,, the Treelords have poor damage output, Alarielle lacks a damage prevention roll, you have a lot tied directly into having woods (and likely dryad spamming which is the next part of a thread in that direction), which leads to specific builds. I think there are a few warscrolls with low number of attacks but a 6 does MWs in some manner (talon of Dwingling, impaling thingy? if you played 6 rounds of combat that would come up once. That kind of writing seems like such a weird inclusion. Maybe it's just me; but Drycha's MW ability was done well. @Landohammer hit it perfectly with ASF being dumb in 8th ed and also being dumb in AoS now. Particularly as it's convoluted. Warhammer Weekly wrote a 4 diagram chart of how to follow it and I still didn't get it all (granted I'm not a tournament player any longer so I don't know all the armies). I also agree with him regarding I'm wanting to play Wanderers with Sylvaneth support as a CoS army. If you look at the book and what comes after it is clear Sylvaneth had their hay-day 4 years ago, and the re-wrote, meant to bring the wording inline with AoS 2.0 has just hamstrung it. However.. the glades are mostly well done and even the other tables of weapons, items, abilities have some good stuff in there. I feel the book is 75-80% well" done but will maybe get weaker as we move forward. I don't know the fix either. With Beasts of Chaos I am fairly firm that other than Ungors and Bestigors the Warscrolls and subfactions need a re-write (why make Warherd,.. weaker? looking at you command ability). I hope Sylvaneth isn't that way. I did see some lesser popular builds show up in forums and Bat Reps. the Lords of the Clan in Gnarlroot I Think? that's what we want. More variation in our book. Also,.. I don't know where this will land but with Shadespire we saw all the warbands get armies. Beastgrave gave us a Sylvaneth half-aelf half animal warband of little Danny DEvito's from Disney's Hercules. Wade PRice flubbed on Warhammer TV that was the AoS re-imagining of Wood Aelves. A manager commented Covid changed a lot of releases but we could possibly see some form of Aelf return to Sylvaneth and the rest of the army get rounded out. God I want that so bad. They could phase out Wanderers then and I would buy a metric ton of Ungors to convert everything up haha.
  4. There was talk of a triple Durthu list in the Sylvaneth thread. I tried it and saw it's potential. YOu should post questions like this there.
  5. The +1 to cast, the +1 to hit means it can be a focal point of your defensive core. The utility a Hurricanum adds is fairly significant. I play TE with Wanderers. So a mass bulk of Sisters of The WAtch behind a block of Eternal Guard. I have a sorceress (adjutant) with 10 bleakswords behind. The Sorceress stabs and gets +3 to cast now. That's just my experience and hopefully it is clear or helps
  6. You could start with 2 x 20 Dryads or 30 and 10. I was going to say 30 Dryads and 5 Tree Revs. If your sister ever gets over the dislike of Tree Revenets they have amazing utility in the game. Before you get to 2k just have her play and try out 1000 points. She may not stick to the game and selling off 1000 points might be less a loss than 2000 points. However Drycha does well in Winterleaf as does large units of Dryads (and well,. haha so do 6 Scythe hunters ) I have 70 Dryads fully painted (though 30 was done in 2005) and the sprue is 4-man which is a leftover from 6th edition. I would never buy another one (mostly these were all amassed through editions by me when people rage left at the start of 8th). That leads to me thinking the unit may not stick around much longer. You could probably play with 20, 20, 10 for a while and it be fine. See if you can somehow scrounge up 2 more.
  7. I forgot his buff being Wanderer only and realized it last night. Maybe a flying Hurricanum then Or use her more for counter charge. Not be so impetuous with her. Drop 3 Bow Hunters and her try to snipe for a while.
  8. I've been thinking the same thing. I want to make more use of my old(er) wood elf models still. Thankfully the mtd hero makes a good Wild Rider champion I wonder how many people get too tied into DSing with the double move from shooting ability (Stalker in the Shadows? I can't remember the name). Alarielle has a 30" bow and uh 12, 14 or 16" move? I've been toying with DSing the Nomad PRince and just having her zip up a flank moving twice. +1 to hit on her attacks is noticeable when she slams into something. And you can probably want the NP being general so you can do the "can't shoot item or trait" and add a small unit of SotW to bubble wrap him. If Alarielle is that close dropping out 3 Sword Hunters isn't a terrible option, particularly objective camping. Durthu really suffers outside Sylvaneth and you have to build to him in Sylvaneth. I saw 10 Rangers with spiked dice rolls take out a Blood Thirster one turn. Granted that's the anomaly but I've been championed them as 3/3/-1 2A with a 2" reach is good. You can even have them behind a unit of SotW or something. I'm hoping they get a points drop though. Just cause. Sure, Finecast wasn't really,.. a hot seller especially for the worst army in the edition which only got 1 year of game play. I can see a back log of BWraithes. I commonly see SotW math hammered as top dmg dealers and then rarely see them in game. Mine have been brutal in game and I'm thinking, how many female GG, Waywatcher models I have that I can pass off and how good am I at flames with Green STuff
  9. The AoS warscroll for WArhawk riders isn't terrible. I bought mine in 2005 when they were $16 CAD. Time to start emailing GW at AoSFAQ@gwplc.com and asking them to bring back Skycutter chariots as support for Swifthawks and make them viable <cough cough broken> like Scourgerunners and they will sell lost. Even release them with a Novella for $6 that has a story about them. That's money for GW and they like money. Plus CoS is a good book with lots of people trying the book out. Because the Bwraith is a Juan Diaz model that has aged well and surprisingly better sculpted than I thought as I've become a much better painter. EDIT: pretty sure Shadowarriors are also Sisters of the Watch? that's just a constant money stream as both units are good and SotW may be more popular as Sons of Behemat are released. They seem a good counter.
  10. Thank you! I used a couple Cygor in a Warherd Darkwalkers list with a couple Ghorgons and the rest bulls. sure it wasn't great but it wasn't useless. It bounces the odd wound back when it unbinds which is pretty annoying turns 3-4 especially if in turns 1 or 2 you've gotten a D6 wounds to land and suddenly after a couple turns your screened enemy wizard has 1W left. And ambushing them bridges the gap in bad movement. They could still be cheaper (even 100 points I wouldn't think they are that good) but I didn't hate my experience. I struggle with forums as they often get dominated by power players who only play a list when strong, dominate the conversation, often in a negative fashion. Yeah we all want to win and be the best but sometimes people come here looking to make what they have or love better.
  11. That's good, I sent an email asking them to consider addressing the change based on having already addressed Slaanesh's so it can be done
  12. The guy I play most regularly did that. He plays um.. Anvil Guard? the "dark elf" city anyway. He takes them as Stormcast Ballistas. Just build the model up on cork so it would stand appropriate height (or he just did that anyway) While I'm a Sylvaneth player also and like that the 70 Dryads I've painted haven't been squatted (16-per box is a 6th ed legacy still in the game,.. and I worry they may get squatted next book) the Skycutter going away annoys me constantly. Just put it in TE. It was a terrible decision. IMO they could bring it back now, put the Warscroll and some starting points online and make it a hero/unit choice with a descent command ability. I was kinda hoping for some warhawk riders back in some form with the chariot. In AoS it works so much better than Fantasy.
  13. In the last league for 8th ed, I suggested not doing 2k or 2500 points but 1500 to get more younger kids in and they went 2999. so people suddenly needed about a thousand points of troops and such. O_o
  14. Those are good points as well. @Landohammer I hadn't thought of the swinginess of 1500 points. Isn't it 2+ at 1500 points for BL? maybe something to toy around with at least.
  15. shrugs. just proxy them and give it a try. local gamers shouldn't be too upset. I imagine old glade riders could be found cheaply in the current climate.
  16. This reminds me how Alarielle gets to summon 200 points of Kurnoth Hunters or 120 points of Spite Revenants. Even at 20 Spite Revenants I would usually lean towards 3 Bow Hunters (maybe the exception is Winterleaf). GW changed the Slaanesh summoning table but not ours. Something to email their plc faq? address? I cannot recall the e-mail address. The developers on their podcasts claim every email is read, multiples are paid more attention to and clear issues are "dealt with". so... maybe worth that grassroots effort.
  17. Blame Rob Symes. BC (before children) when I played in tournaments and leagues people tried methods of points jiggling to curve bent combos and also maybe lift some weaker armies that got decimated when they saw that power Lord roll them (so 6th, 7th, 8th). I found it is like comp. You just change the line where the power users find the places the game breaks. I've never been a fan of comp as I view tournaments as places for people to all have the same goal (you're going for 5-0 and all the armies are available in all GW stores in the same manner). I was the guy who played WE and Beastmen in 8th tournaments cause I loved the army knowing I wasn't going to do well. I played against say, the Nurgle Daemon army with 2 skillcannons bought from a polish commission painter. He wanted to win top dog more than I wanted to use an army other than my favourite. Sometimes I just prefer playing 1000 or 1500 point games as, well kiddos eat my time up and I know 1500 points will be set up, played, done and i'll be home from a close buddies in 2 hours. And it's a new enjoyable way to play. However I don't like to see weird restrictions brought in based on the false notion of "game balance" by internet cowboys champion whatever.
  18. One sister. And yeah there is value in the Sisters of the Thorn. they are pricey but until you take 8 wounds they can cast (so a 7W M12 caster with ranged shots). In LC if they have 3 wounds left you get that one sister back up to 2. Also mobility to cast on a Phoenix and any Endless spell. I think their spell can be descent on 30 EG particularly first turn since the EG will likely move up (I'm a Wanderers player so flipping back and forth between LC and TE) and you'll want to get their save better if you get them on an objective. Only downside is the models break before you build them, then again while you build them, then while you paint them, then again while you play your first game. I converted some old Glade Riders (female chests) an no one cares. I might try to turn the SotT models into centaurs or something more resilient.
  19. Thanks I thought so, just wanted to make sure it wasn't something weird.
  20. Hi folks, If I have Sisters of the Thorn cast Aura of Glory,.. how much of the SotT unit needs to be wholly within the 12" range? Say I am casting it on some Wild Riders or Eternal Guard in CC. Can the whole target unit be wholly within range of just one Sister or does every Sister need to somehow be within range of at least one model from the target (of the spell) unit? Okay re-reading the spell they cast it on themselves but question still stands. Thanks and I hope I explained that clearly.
  21. I have 6 Sythes, 6 Swords, 3 bows. I also have Alarielle but I'm not good at using her. I guess her thing is is multi caster. I sat around a bit after thinking the key seems to be the teleporting and possibly combining each teleport with a big guy who can navigate the realm root and maybe add a stomp. Thanks kindly.
  22. Do you take the/a maxed spite battalion for Dreadwood? What kind of list build is Dreadwood? I only have 10 Spites and 70 Dryads so I uh... heh tend to not pay much attention as I play with what I have.
  23. But the Shaggoth can cast a good movement spell from range while killing ungors for summon points or hit himself and heal himself. That's not to be ignored. granted I love Doombulls so I would take as many of them as I could also In Darkwalkers they can pop around the board with that command ability late game or just be that Gor required for any specific battalion and be an large footprint screen.
  24. Here is one avenue to play them. https://thehonestwargamer.com/aos-list-rundowns/brasswalkers/ I've played Darkwalker Bulls a few times,.. and they are weaker but I like the army so I play them. I don't play tournaments but I have played tournament players with the list. The mistakes and swingy dice punish you terribly. Luck (as in not hitting with 2 hits out of 6 guys) and a better movement-phase game makes Bullgors that much better The psychology of ambushing Bulls can be useful. I would honestly look at still having Ungor bodies and using Bullgors for the second or 3rd wave. 80-140 Ungors is just,.. so good. You would basically be looking to trade Bestigors for Bullgors as a flavour. It annoys me greatly they took Warherd and took away all the synergy that made them kinda good and made them more bland instead of making them moar better.
  25. 3 Swords are also not bad at defending an objective.
