  1. Pretty much what @Lord Cedric has said. Shadespire seems to be designed to appeal to an audience who may not want to paint the models, which is why we may not see any AOS direct ports into the game. Plus I'm guessing it would be difficult to try and dovetail in some AOS stuff without specifically doing a lot of design work due to how the game may play.
  2. Didn't they get some sets last year around this time? Personally I think it does and the fact they are on round bases now means you can see all the lovely detail of the models! I see the AOS setting as a place of almost infinite possibilities, so I think having the Empire models as Free Guild works well.
  3. So as everybody has been getting excited about the AOS stuff off the GW site, theres a small event happening right now called Gencon. GW are there showing off something amazing and we have a release date for it. Can I ask you all to get excited about Shadespire...... 4. Just updated this as we have a release month! It's November!!!
  5. I'll just leave this here... https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/08/17/nurgle-rises-in-the-mortal-realms-aug-16gw-homepage-post-1/
  6. Yeah I'm really excited about it. I love games like this and with the amount of models and the time scale, it should be easier for me to do hobby stuff!
  7. One way is if you run a private store for your club as you will get notified about upcoming releases a few days before they go up for pre-order. If you don't fancy doing that, keeping an eye on the internet helps! Here's some of the rumoured prices from Faeit212 - http://natfka.blogspot.co.uk/2017/08/this-weeks-pre-orders-along-with-prices.html
  8. There will be events in the UK but as the US ones are big gaming conventions as well, it makes sense for GW to wave the flag and advertise things a bit more. At the end of the month, I'm hoping we will hear about a release date (I'm expecting November) and we will start seeing more information dropping out about it
  9. Updated this with news that GW are running a Shadespire Seminar at the NOVA Open! This is quite exciting as hopefully they will reveal a bit more about how they see the game being played competitively as well as what we can expect to see on sale.
  10. As my excitement for this game grows daily, I thought I would start a topic to let people know what Shadespire is as well as any news or rumours that pop up for it. I'll keep this as updated as I can. What is Shadespire? Shadespire (or to use it's full name - Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire) is a upcoming game from Games Workshop that is set in the Age of Sigmar universe. The easiest way to explain how the game works, is that it's an combination of a collectable card game and the X Wing miniature game. You control a Warband fighting out in the ruins of Shadespire, a city that once attracted the attention of Nagash and he got annoyed that the residents of the city had found a way of prolonging their lives. Not something you want to do in the Realm of Death, which is ruled over by Nagash who just happens to be the God of Death and expects every soul from the dead to be his. So he cursed the city and everybody in it and put them in a state of limbo. Anybody who finds themselves here, will be trapped forever! You will battle it out to survive and hopefully find a way of escaping this cursed city. The game has been designed to be played in a competitive manner and it is easy to pick up and learn but difficult to master. Games are designed to last around 45 minutes, which makes it ideal for Club or Tournament play. Whats in it? We don't know the exact details about what you get in it yet but we do know you will get two warbands in the core set (Stormcast vs Khorne Bloodreavers), some game boards/tiles to fight over, cards (for Unit Profiles and also Special Event Cards) and dice. Why should I be excited? Well for a start, it's a brand new game from Games Workshop which is a departure from what they have previously done! But if that doesn't float your boat, there will be loads of cool new miniatures for the various Warbands and it's a competitive type game which seems to play a bit like a cross between X Wing and Collectable Card Games. It also seems ideal for those of us who are older and have reached achievements such as getting married, having children and full time jobs (basically all that stuff that stops us from playing with our cool toys all the time). NEWS - Updated 13/09/17 New I get distracted by work and GW drop a load of cool news about Shadespire! So firstly they have confirmed that Orruks are the forth Warband for Shadespire and this was confirmed at the Nova Open a few weeks ago (https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/08/31/breaking-news-studio-preview-from-the-nova-open/). Here's a cool trailer for them if you can't be bothered clicking the link Next up a bit more about the game where we get to see models from all four factions together as well as a bit of background - https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/09/12/the-factions-of-shadespire-sneak-peekgw-homepage-post-3/ Also got this very cool bit of artwork giving us a very good idea about who is in the game and a bit of an inkling about the theme.. Also been confirmed in this article that @Ben's Blood and Glory weekend is running a couple of Shadespire events. Details are here - https://bloodandglory.baddice.co.uk/2017/09/shadespire-at-blood-and-glory-get-tickets-now/ Old GW are at Gencon 50 and showing the game off to the public!!! They have done an article for it on the community site (see here) but here are some of the pictures..... It's coming in November!!! This comes from Gencon via Domus GW have confirmed that they will be doing a seminar for Shadespire at the NOVA Open (Link) It's been confirmed that the game will be played competitively at the LVO 2018 GW have confirmed the game (see Community Site) GW have confirmed one of the additional Warbands - Sepulchral Guard (see Community Site) GW have confirmed Female Stormcast in the game (see Community Site) GW has set up a Facebook Page for the game (see here) The Dice Tower visited Warhammer World and were able to get a preview of the game (see Video on YouTube here) Bell of Lost Souls filmed a demo game at Adepticon earlier this year (see video on YouTube here) RUMOURS - Updated 14/08/17 Not a massive amount here as GW have been very, very, good at keeping this under wraps. However, the NOVA Open is happening in the US soon (31st August to 3rd September) and one of the seminars that GW are hosting hints about a new game being showcased. Could this be Shadespire or something else (LINK) - Confirmed (see above)
  11. I think that's what you would normally think but seeing how far in advance some of these sneak peaks seem to be, I wouldn't be surprised if it was something else! There have been rumours about a 'new' race so maybe it's something to do with that? Most likely it's Mortarion but hey it's a rumour thread
  12. As said on Twitter...... Krunk! Krunk! Krunk! Krunk! Krunk! Krunk! Krunk! Krunk! Looking forwards to this. Probably will end up watching on catch up but should be fun.
  13. As several people have mentioned, looks like a tire. I'll go with the Fallen
  14. I second typo or it's something they have tweaked for the Narrative game and are letting you do that
  15. erm... can we have some rumours please? Discussion such as points for upgrades should really have their own thread
  16. Same here. It was tough but I could see what was happening last year. I'm really excited and can't wait
  17. Nope. All streaming is happening this weekend due to South Coast GT. It's possible because of this, we are seeing this rumour as the guys behind the SCGT were involved in the development of the Generals Handbook.
  18. New rumour floating around is that GW are going to do some sort of Generals Handbook 2 announcement this weekend (via Faeit 212 so pinch of salt!!!!!)
  19. Nice spot @Brucimus!! Would be really cool if they did the battle mats but it's quite stiff competition at the moment with all the other mats on the market place. Be interested to see how much they compare against the other mats as well as the designs. Got me thinking about going to Warhammer Fest now!
  20. Please do. Don't mind people getting excited about the cool new toys but design aesthetics deserve a topic to themselves Back on topic. Looks like the new Shadespire Warband is seven models, so I'm guessing these will be sold in a set all together rather than individual packs. Be interesting to see if this is the case and if you can get add on models. Also I'm guessing we will see some activation shenanigans which have them somehow get round the four activations a player turn limit.
  21. It sounds like it's the name of the Warband in Shadespire. I wouldn't be surprised if they are ported into AOS but depends if there is other things coming out later this year for Death to go along with the release
  22. Another vote for Nurgle. I'm expecting it to be a Beast of Nurgle to be released alongside the Death Guard for 40K. I would then expect a Followers of Nurgle book with all the Nurgle stuff in for AOS.
  23. Trying not to sound sarcastic with reply but yes there will be at some point! Personally I think we will see something around the Shadespire release due to the background (city Nagash has corrupted to lure warriors to) but no idea what this release could be. Nice find. Looking at those prices, we probably won't be seeing a Start Collecting Set unless it's in the next wave with the Skyriggers (say Arkonaut's, Skyriggers and a Admiral).
