  1. I think that the issue is thst they dont look elvish enough. They are a whole different thing, so i belive it didnt pull on Aelves fans.
  2. I think there is room for both, Gloospite is a good example of a traditional army redone. I for one love the Elven aestethics, and even tho i have a lot of models you can bet i will buy new ones, or even modern version os units i like.
  3. On the topic of creating the setting, when i decided for my Phoenix Temple army, i went Aqshy, mainly because my paint scheme was warm collors. Once i was on the middle of the way, i realized i had made grass bases.... ops... So i created a lore about this plateau on Aqshy where the Ashes of the Phoenix Volcano kept the land fertile and because of the High Ground the realm survived as a bastion against Chaos forces during the Age of Chaos. It was a lof of fun to try and squish my army into the lore!
  4. "Not sure if anyone's already talked about it, but we got a little lore tidbit about aelves of Ulgu in the second Inferno! volume. From 'At the sign of the Braven Claw Part 2' it describes aelves who retreated into the shadows and deep within mountains and are called "kuru elgi, or the grey aelves, because of the colours they wear to blend into the mists, and the magic they weave about themselves to hide."" A quote from the Rumor Thread that looks interesting regarding this conversation. Points a bit into a separation of "high" and "dark" elves in the future. Maybe a new copyright name for both areas? Who knows?
  5. I see Reavers, high warden and seaguard beeing squashed, since they are SoD units and the sprue has mixed skaven pieces mixed up on it, but i would glady accepted if they give us a Battleline unit. Blademasters would be a cool choice imo.
  6. I wish they would loose the restrictions in battlelines for the great cities. You would be restricted to GA alliance only, but use for exemple Phoenix Guard as Battlelines for a Phoenicium army. As it stands, that set of rules is kinda wasted if the purpose was to give smaller factions some viability, considering all they do is give you a small perk and restrict your selection of units. I would be a happy guy if i could do an army with Order zdraconis and Phoenix temple withou a wonky near useless battleline tax in the middle of it.
  7. It seen dark elfs were not as shattered as High ones. It is a tad easier for those players to field an army.
  8. Regarding people commenting on proxys: I am from Brazil and AoS here just started getting up and running(we now have an official gw representative bringing stuff over). Our small tournaments are all 4fun, people are super chill, TOs are great guys. In less than an year we went from 8 guys in 750pts matchs to 20 in 1250 pts and growing. It is really great! Painting isnt required, square bases are ok and if you forget about some rule, you can go back and use it. Sometimes your oponent will give you the heads up about it! We give prizes to the coolest opponent you fought, for example. That said, proxys are allowed if it make sense. For isntance my "celestar" ballista is a High Elf Bolt Thrower. I can use Sea Guard as Spearman for example. It would be ok, the Tos just ask you to tell your oponents and be on correct base size and it is alright.
  9. This is kind of a pet peeve of mine. Spire of Dawn was sold as an Age of Sigmar product. As you mention it yourself it is only 3 years old. Yes, it is a rebox of Islands of Blood, but my wife wasnt suposed to know that. I wasnt suposed to know that, actually i didnt! I started AoS specifically because it wasnt WHFB, was something new and was easier for us to grasp. My models arent suposed to be invalid after 3 years, right? To me it sounds as weired as if the models of any SC were made invalid, because well, it was sold as AoS models! I bought AoS models expecting to play AoS and rulewise they are all over the place. Dont get me wrong, if Tyrions Army catch my eyes, i will buy it. I bought into DoK as i said. But it will be a great disapointment if my current AoS guys get tossed into the garbage.
  10. First i would like to thank you for taking the time to read. Also thank you for trying to help me out on forging an army using the minis i got, even tho that wasnt my intention. I have a lot of glade guard, reavers and even some spearmen but it all still feel wonky and bloated of stuff i wont really use. When battlelines became a "tax". My intention was really just vent and see if others are on the same boat/having the same felings as i am (so i wont suffer alone lol), and how do you think GW is gona handle the factions in the future. My guess: Wanderers are gona get 2/3 kits and a book. Maybe a brand new hero on foot too. "Dark" Elves: According to the folks on another thread, the BL book Brazen Claw talks about Uglu Elves and Mistweavers. I belive Malerion portion of the Elves is gona "adopt" the remaining miniatures. "High" Elves: Same but with Tyrion Elves. What i wonder is rules about Battlelines. Wonder if we are ever going to have Phoenix Guard, Dragon Blades and Swordmasters as BL on a "Light Elves" army or if they are gona roll a new "battleline" unit for this Aelvish aliance. What still bothers me tho is the huge amount of plastics into all this factions not beeing used on any major army... and the fact that we are still on square bases while wanderers were moved to rounds, just as Dispossesed for example.
  11. To give this a little context: I started playing AoS a couple of years back with a Clan Pestilens SC. I didnt know much about the game and i always been more of a painter than a collector. When the hollydays came, my wife gifted me a Spire of Dawn set. By that time i had almost finished payinting my SC (it took a while, i am a really slow painter), and the new rat boys gave me joy, but that was when i realized the Skaven were thorn all over the place and i couldnt really group my guys into an army. That was an ice cold bucket for me, and made me quit for a while. Months later, i decided to paint something and got to those High Elf guys, and behold! there was a battlaion that would let me group then up! So i decided to go for a SwiftHawk army, since now i could use the Eldritch council budies and allies! A phoenix, a Dragon! The Sky was the limit! So i did what most players do : Bought a full collection of High Elf units. Really, i got almost 6k points of High Elf.... Then came the GHB and took my battalion away. The community around me is pretty small, and gather up in events to play, and the rule is simple : It is valid if on the GHB. I got Screwed, and kept thinking "Ok, what can i do?" Order Armies need Order Battlelines and none of the current models fit the bill other than Reavers, that i really dislike. Phoenix Temple and Order Draconis are kinda competitive but lack variety (specially with the new ally restriction). But to get to my point: When i got Spire of Dawn, i was expecting to be able to field my toy soldiers in a reasonable way, and years later those High Elf models havent event got repacked in round bases, are almost never mentioned in the lore (Hell, GW made an article Dragons of the Realm and didnt mention Order DRACONIS) and are still separated in a way that i have no idea of how will gw put then togheter. Absolute silence even in the rumors department. But what are you talking about, you might ask! We got DoK and Idoneth! 2 Elvish armies! Well... Idoneth are their own thing. They barely ressemble Elves and got a completly new design. DoK are cool, and i bought then but i am not really passionated about then. The lore mentions Tyrion and Malerion Elves and they also apears to be their own thing. With some luck High Elves will be added to Tyrion s faction, and Dark Elves to Maleryon s but who knows? Wanderers are playable but lack big units. Really hope they get some love. A DoK release would make those guys shine! Well that was it. If you had the time to read, i would love to hear your toughts.
  12. While i hope disspossesed gets some love, i wouldnt get my hopes up too much. Morathi has a dead Elf on her base and so far... nothing. Crossing fingers tho!
  13. Was there any faction removed? (after Bret and TK i mean) I am really hoping for a BT for dispossesed! Grudge dwarves are cool dwarves. It also makes me wonder about my near 6k of High Elves (from all the current factions combined). We are in a weired spot, some of our plastics are exclusive from spire of dawn set. We are gonna have new Aelves, but wonder how they are gona fit with current ones (if at all) or if we are getting our own BT. We are currently one of the few factions still packed as WHFB with square bases...
  14. It is goingon for a few weeks. Gives me hope thati will soon be able to field my high elfs in a coherent way...
  15. I wouldnt mind the raise if they actually made adjustments for overpriced units such as Witch Elves And Fyreslayers.
  16. So, if Skavens are getting a BT, now only a handfull of armies will be without one. I supose Dispossesed, Ogors, Aelfs, Free Peoples and Greenkins?
  17. I completly agree and have beeing saying this for a long time. I Started playing on AoS and bought my way into 5400 pts of High Elves, the great majority bought from GW itself. I bought DoK but isnt exactly my thing, i dislike Idoneth models. I will probably buy the next release, but what i really want is a way to place my 5400 on the table in a way that makes sense. I dream about a BT like BoC , LoN and such. Would be even better if they went all the way like they did goblins right now, but i would be happy just getting rid of the micro factions.
  18. I belive GW will publish a ton of BTs to update old factions an regroup then. I dont think the rearrangements on the store were a coincidence.
  19. I wonder if Skirmish will be playable for other factions without a SC box.
  20. It is indeed the kind of models i would expect for a Dispossessed revamp! As a player from an old armie (High Elves) myself, it would be great to see this classic Dwarf range back into the tables.
  21. I think the greatest issue with Dispossesed is the lack of centerpiece modelas and variety. They would need a DoK revamp, not just a Bt.
  22. We are into the 3rd year of AoS and people still wanna play some "old" armies. Myself included. (High Elves) Doesnt mean i didnt buy DoK or wont buy new "good" elfs. Oh i will, but to incorporate with my own. I think Beasts of Chaos was a good example of revamped armie. No new models with the exception of the Totem and spells and a book, and voila, beastmen fans are happy. I now see players around me buying this models line. If GW does this same level of comitment to Elves, Dispossesed, Skaven, Ogres, Goblins and so on, i dont see why it wouldnt sell models/books. Skaven have amazing models from all sizes. Aelves have a ton of centerpieces (Dragon, Phoenix, Skycutter, Hydra, Black Dragon) and units. Dispossesed would need a bit of work and free peoples could use some love. All in all i think give those older fans a book so they can actually play would be a smart move by gw, specially considering they wouldnt need a lot of models to make it happen.
  23. I am still confused about Firestorm army building rules regarding battlelines. I have a Phoenix Temple army. It uses Great alliance abilities since it doesnt have it own. Lets say i wanna build a hallowheart army and mix in Order Draconis. Can i use Phoenix Guard or Dragon Blades as Battlelines? Or the BL must be from Order battlelines?
  24. While i agree to a point, i dont think GW would alienate a lot of its fanbase. I will give you my example: I started AoS with Spire of Dawn. From there i went Bananas on High Aelves. I think i have about 80% of the line and about 6k points in elfs. Some of the models are still on par with current quality (Skycutter comes to mind). I bought those miniatures from their website. They got Warscrolls and are currently beeing sold officially. Heck i bought some this week! What do you think will happen to a customer like me if GW decides tomorrow to no longer suport those models? They will have a point to invalidate Reaver/High Warden (since they are exclusive to a product no longer sold and hard to produce, since it is mixed with skaven from the SoD box set). But products currently beeing sold? I doubt that. Imo they will eventually make a battletome for each of the current groups on their webstore. LoN book for Aelfs would sell well and increase the interest on Aelfs for when the new Aelf factions arrive.
