  1. Oh, it just updated to in stock, so I've (hopefully) secured a pack. If anyone else wants to grab them they are (or were) in stock in the UK webstore.
  2. Yep. I'm not going to post scalper prices for these cards because I don't want them enough, buy if I did I'd be much less likely to if I know I could get them eventually at retail price. I don't need them now, I just weeks life to own them for completions sake.
  3. Sigh. I set up email reminders for the magic items and lores of magic cards ages ago, and yesterday I got the email saying the were back in stock. I rushed to the computer to order them, but they weren't on the website. Phoned GW and was told that they'd probably appear in due course and to mash F5. Today, they finally appear, and I manage to bad the magic items. Lores of magic are already sold out. Why can't GW do these things as made to order.
  4. Just listened to it myself. I think the truly broken way to run the army is not one that appeals to me, or works with my theme (double Mortis Engine). Resurrecting Blood Knights does make them much more appealing than Chaos and Grail Knights though (the two other super elite normal cavalry) as it goes a fair way to mitigating their main weakness (ultimately they are only one wound, and you can lose a lot of points and combat effectiveness to bad luck).
  5. Which is annoying, as I kinda like Black Knights horses for non-Blood Knight can in this army. So the easiest choice is zombifying Ionus Cryptborn's dragon (I've seen it done a couple of times and it looks good). More thematically, perhaps trying to make a zombified Hippogryph from Karl Franz's mini plus a suitable horse rear end might be cool. Obviously Hippogryphs don't have breath attacks, but who says zombified ones can't 😄 Yeah, the loss of archers is a shame. I guess you can argue that undead archers lose their ability to use bows (but somehow Tomb Kings retain it though). Having Bretonnian Blood Knights in lance formation would look amazing, but it's not the end of the world that they can't. Yup, my thinking is a Blood Dragon who sets himself up in Mousillon and declares himself Duke. Obviously this gives good lore reasons to fight Bretonnians, but he's also a Blood Dragon so he'll likely want to go on expeditions to fight suitable foes as well. Not the most original idea, but it works well in the lore. The one thing I'm debating is how to handle heraldry for the Blood Knights. The non-Blood Knights will be painted in standard Bret style heraldry, but faded and worn due to being dead, but I wonder whether the Blood Knights should have a unified heraldry with their lord, or if they should retain individual heraldry. My concern is if I do retain individual heraldry they end up looking too much like Bretonnians and not be obviously undead enough.
  6. So I've resurrected (rather in theme given the faction) an idea for an army I had in 6th edition*, namely Bretonnian Vampire Counts (i.e. covered from Bretonnian minis). My thinking at the moment is as follows: Characters will become Vampire Characters (Blood Dragon themed) Damsels Will become Necromancers (fallen Damsels?) Grail Knights will become Blood Knights (red grail). Knights of the Realm will become Black Knights. Knights of the Realm on Foot will become Grave Guard (this is the big one for me, as this was the area 6th edition Brets were lacking). Peasants will become Skeletons. Zombies included as they are (AoS minis). Various creatures like Dire Wolves, Bats etc. included as they are. I think, will enough use of the Warhammer Skulls pack, bus and pieces of existing undead minis and some suitable paint work, this can be made to look good. Thoughts? Suggestions? *I don't claim this idea was even vaguely original.
  7. On the topic of homebrew stuff, I'm thinking the community needs to write rules for Grombrindal. Honestly, shouldn't be too difficult, his rules were never that complex, part of me wants to return to the days when he had a 5+ save... on 2d6, but I doubt anyone wants to slow roll his saves.
  8. I was surprised when I couldn't see a Tomb Kings thread yesterday. You must have read my mind @Sception 😄 Brilliant first post. I'm thinking about building a TK army myself. Some if their newer kits (as in the 2010-13 ones) are really nice, and I think they have an interesting play style.
  9. I think it could be D6 still. They're charge isn't going to be that amazing even with an extra D6, and an extra D3 doesn't make much difference at all.
  10. Yup, I wish they weren't a one and done made to order, and we're an ongoing thing where you order them and get them when they have capacity to cast them. The pressure to buy them now or miss them it's not fun.
  11. Also combat against a worthy for, so a save of some sort against weak enemies (maybe anything with a strength less than or equal to the Slayer's toughness) wouldn't go amiss. It would be a huge shame for Slayers to die to goblins when there are Trolls, Giants, Dragons or Daemons waiting just round the corner eh.
  12. Yeah I think whatever protection they get, it needs to be done carefully. You can't really have Slayers being too tanky, as that kinda goes against their entire concept. At the same time, if you have an entire army of them you need something.
  13. Things I'd like the see with Slayers in their Arcane Journal: Some sort of Talismatic Tattoo style rule. Perhaps something like the Blessing of the Lady, where it gives a better Ward vs. higher strength attacks, or maybe monsters. Swiftstride access for Slayers somehow. Ideally Daemon and Dragon Slayers should get the Monster Slaying rule which, to be honest, they always should have had. Youngrim should be brilliant!
  14. I would hope the answer is yes, because otherwise the rule is kinda meh. That said, I could see an interpretation where "the model" isn't making that To Wound roll, since the Deathblow role doesn't say "the model makes a Strength 3 hit with AP -1 that automatically hits". As an aside, I really wish this rule scaled. For basic Troll Slayers it's okay, but why aren't Giant Slayers hitting at Strength 4, and why don't Dragon and Daemon Slayers hit more than once. I'd have preferred a Fight on Death rule.
  15. I suspect there might be an element of spacing out the fancier new releases so as to ensure there's some exciting stuff being released semi-regularly. Keep up momentum and all that. You don't want to end up like Legions Imperialis, where people keep forgetting you exist because you only get a release every couple of months or so.
  16. I mean, Leviathan, Indomitus, Dominion... I don't expect anything particularly creative.
  17. So two things to consider: (i) generally bigger bases are a disadvantage over smaller ones and (ii) it'll make the most difference fur things which expect to need to manoeuvre and fight in combat. Given that I really don't thing it'll make much difference to the game if your bombard is on a larger base, and what difference it does make will likely be too your (minor) disadvantage. So if day go for it. Obviously this might be an issue in tournaments, but in casual play I'd hope no one would object.
  18. Yeah, just to be clear I think there are huge benefits to 3D printing, I'm glad it exists and I'm very happy for people who are able to make use of it. I just sometimes get the feeling people who are 3D printing converts can be a bit dismissive of the barriers (to be clear, I haven't seen that in this thread: people have been very reasonable).
  19. The NMM definitely sells @Goatforce! Overall of very nicely painted mini.
  20. Even test prints aren't that reliable. I ordered the same mini twice at different scales from the same person in Etsy (to get an idea of which scale I preferred) and it came in two different resins. Nether were particularly good prints, but there was a noticeable difference between them to. So my test concluded that I could rely on said printer to be consistent. Honestly it's live to have the room to have my own 3d printing setup. But if it ever happens it'll be a long time in the future.
  21. Well said. I think some 3D printing fans are to quick to ignore the difficulties of getting set up with 3D printing, and getting to a stage where you end product is good. I would love to be able to do it at home, but it's just not an option for me in my current situation, and because of my particular psychology I don't think it would be unless I could have a dedicated room for it (so, realistically, it never will be). I've also been disappointed by the couple of 3D prints I bought from Etsy. I don't think this is a sign that 3D printing itself is bad: just that it's too easy for someone to set themselves up seeking on Etsy as a side income without necessarily producing great quality products.
  22. I find myself in a similar place to you. I haven't quite given up on AoS yet, but it's definitely a distant second in my focus. I completely understand the appeal of a crunchy game. There's just someone I love about a big complex ruleset with lots of options to sink my teeth into.
  23. I think Irondrakes stand out as a very good unit, generally taken in 5s with a Champion with a Trollhammer Torpedo. Cannons are much finished from older editions of WHFB, but a BS 5 mini cannon for 36 points is pretty good (and it's not like his four mates with Drakeguns are bad). Irondrakes are also nasty enough in combat that a lot of skirmishers, fast cav and other traditional weak target hunters might not be able to reliable near them. Cinderblast Bombs on the Champ help here, since they can be used to Stand and Shoot and D6+1 Strength 5 AP -1 attacks (plus the 4 Drakeguns Attacks) will likely put a fair dent of Combat Res into the event before the fighting Even really begins). Gyrocopters seem almost necessary as the only fast thing Dwarfs get. Don't be afraid to charge line wizards with them D3 Impact Hits, 2 Strength 4 attacks and Toughness 5 with a 4+ Save makes you pretty likely to win combat against most mages (be careful of Chaos Sorcerers, Bray Shamans etc., who are no joke on combat). At the very least you'll tie up their ability to cast and dispel to some extent.
  24. Yeah, I wouldn't expect AoS 4th to monopolise releases for more than a month. It'll dominate for Summer, but GW will still fit in other games.
  25. Bretonnian and Tomb Kings Arcane Journals are (at a few moments before writing this) back in stock in the UK webstore, if anyone wants to try to grab them before they disincorporate.
