  1. I honestly do not get the constant complaint about "we deserve new models" from some fireslayers players here. Not only is it quite an entiteled statement to make in general and for any hobbyist, it is also not like GW tricked anyone into believing there were more models to come ( remember when Armybooks had rules for units that didnt exist?) Some of the FS players i know actually started their project because of the small scope. "its just two Start Collecting and a few blisters". Now dont get me wrong: we are all in need of a new plastic fix. But at least give some pretend reason why your things are more releveant: "the army sure would look more interesting with an axthrower artillery", "those clanrats sure are old and it Shows", "make Brettonia a faction again".
  2. Well, as has been mentioned, the size of the tt game/Community ( even though it is not THAT big compared to some others) means any game can prosper in one area while failing in others. I DO have to say that AoS 3 / 40K 9th have been desastrous in my area. Which i DO blame at least in part on the rules Changes. But then: corona and people having children/mortages It does feel like tournament gaming is on the rise, though - which makes sense considering the direction of the rules writing. I guess the sales can hardly be bad - lots of stuff sold out in their own shop and considering the low cost of machine time there is hardly any reason for them to not restock asap.
  3. Chastruction. I must say the timing of @KingBrodd going full aggro about 40k to AoS ratio and an "this HAS to be AoS related" pic going up is just perfect. XD Keep on the good work, man!
  4. Now i am equally unsure of Archies final Powerlevel. BUT his one use i can absolutely See is when you need a beatstick that can not be easily screend or baited. I mean 16" and fly? Sure he has a big base but that is still a lot of space covered... Varanguard on the other hand are a lot slower and less flexible. But hit like a truck. Sounds fair
  5. Well, Tzeentch is the most frickle god of trickery. So his gift being mostly useless but high cornercase potential sounds about right. You can always use Warroirs/Knights in a DoT list. They lack heavy troops. 3 out of 5 marks powerful is certainly better balance than we are used to. Now one of them will be the go-to for top lists, obviously ( my money is on nurgle with a lower chance for slaanesh). But to feel like you can basically do whatever you fancy in a friendly game and at least not be totally useless. That is a great Battletome.
  6. 1.) That is defying the idea of an "early" release in a battlebox, isnt it? 2.) As the offspring of a teacher with an impecable eye for spelling errors i can tell you that no text was ever released without a surprising amount of errors. This is why there are reworked Reprints (Editions) for books. And yes, newer Editions regularly have new errors. C'est la vie. 3.) Since i already own a StD army i can certainly pay using the Battletome right now. Care to elaborate? 4.) Let us be honest. That was more of an 0 Day errata/balancesheet than fixing spelling errors.
  7. Well, the points increases were fair. I still hope for more decreaes on (un)gors, to bring us back as a horde army in an anti-horde meta, but i will not miss those DOgors/Cockatrice spam lists.
  8. Well i for one still fondly remember the old WHF times when Orcs'n Gobbos were the absolute clowns in an already funny world. Mushroom eating gobbos,Snotlings (!). Hillarious! But along came the success of 40k and now everything is grimm dark... fantasy. *Swings around cane while muttering weird words into non existing beard* Anyways: Anyone else getting old Keeper of Secrets vibes from the new thundertusk monstrous rampage? I mean it is less flexible but man, big, fast guys handing out ASL is NASTY!
  9. Yeah, that is obviously a wrong wording. Right now it will (on average) destroy any unit of 2wound and less models. (2/3*3,5 = 2,33 Mortal wounds per model in the unit). It was probably meant to be per model in the unit the GBCharriot moved over.
  10. Well considering most 5/0 or 4/1 Tournament lists seem to Spam either cockatrice or dragon ogors... those two units are probably going to be quite bad soon enough.
  11. Well to be honest you could just open a new thread. I dare say the rumour thread being about rumours is kindof expected. I must agree on the rather rational/friendly discussion, though: tga is my only fan forum where i have not yet had to put people on my ignore list... Btw: have we got any rumours about the bew slaves to darkness RULES? I only remember a lot of spoilered new model pictures.
  12. Its the old problem. You can not realistically write fun and balanced rules without iteration. Now where and when that Iteration happens is the interesting question. If you "test it before release untill its perfect" you end up with great rules...that never get released ( how many factions still wait for their Battletome?) If you release suboptimal rules and constantly fix problems that might accur asap you have people complain about the bad product quality and their rules being invalidated. Realistically you will always end up with a mix of both. I honestly like the "try to make the warscroll solid, points can be changed" approach we have seen lately. It neans less "crazy fun" rules, though, so there is still something to complain about
  13. Fate Dice are so much fun, i absolutely hope they are the main thing for tzeentch ( i said it before but secret agendae sound great and fluffy but its rules were actually a total desaster). The AoS1 BT had a lot of rules support for Fate Dice ( although most of these rules sucked) , AoS2 basically none. Would love more and interesting ways to "Play with fate".
  14. Uuuh, i so love that lords of the silver towers ability. Not from a gameplay perspective (probably not relevant most of the time and might make them too expensive... we shall see) but it is soooo tzeentch: "Are you SURE you want to hurt me?" mindplay incoming
  15. 40k has Armour saves (As in AoS can be modified) , invulnerable saves ( which can not be modified and are either or with normal saves) AND ward saves ( which work exactly as in AoS) Also there are more and more abilities allowing to ignore wards and or invulnerable saves. Because of this demons now have armour saves that can not be modified ( which would be the Definition of invulnerable saves and they used to have those but with the increase in counters to that they needed a different wording....) It is a mess!
  16. Man, i sure would love a way to convincingly play a horde of barbarians (as opposed to the well armed and organised legions of Archaon/Belakor). Maybe instead of "Marks" have units bound to their "hero" on setup, as it was in the old realm of chaos book?
  17. Yes it was. They cleaned up the datasheets and abities big time. While they do not have the highest amount of different units you will see most of them do well even in competative metas. AoS1 ( plus ) Nurgle was a weird list with a few outlier abilities and tons of rules added into it later on to make other things viable. AoS3 Maggotkin has great internal balance and few to no useless or OP abilities (aka any issues could be fixed just with points changes. Now look at Slaangors). It also has a clearly distinct playstyle that harmonises well with every unit. IMHO they could do with less army wide special rules ( circle of corruption is rather irrelevant most of the time - and when it isnt its random luck) but compared to Hedonites every one of them feels better, more fluffy and more integral into their playstyle. In short they are the current gold-standard for AoS3 Battletome Design.
  18. For those of us with a resin printer: Bestarium Miniatures have a release inspired by our favorite AoS faction this month ( Second Part in November). Not going to lie: those minotaurus are going into my herd. Never liked the "do you even lift, bro" GW Bullgors.
  19. Without wanting to sound too negative: i honestly do not see a new hedonites BT in the near future. We are nicely fleshed out ( pun intended) with models and the current one is not too old. I would not be surprised if we have to wait for 4.0 for a new one.
  20. I am okay with Kairics loosing their spell. While it was fluffy it also was a lot of unneccessary dice rolling. They are already a ranged Battleline ( so potentially lots of them and active in two phases), it is okay if they skip a phase New Enlightened read boring. I sure hope they do not end up playing that way. What i really want to see is is the secret agenda mechanic either removed or severely changed and covens fixed so they no longer just buff a certain unit type - or also removed but who am i kidding, rules bloat is inevitable.
  21. We are getting OT and i might overreact but i get a bit cranky when this kind of jealousy/entitelment is brought Up. Be happy when some other army gets new stuff, there is always SOME hobbyist looking forward for their new Toys. Instead point out the interesting design space still open in your faction. Be Sure: GW will happily sell you plastic crack if they can be convinced it will both sell well and not harm their IP in the long Run. As for skaven they feel like Cities/old Empire: all over the place. So here is me hoping they pick a subfaction and give it a full redesign. Not likely, though.
  22. No matter the reason: releasing the updated datasheets online / free is a mighty move by GW. I might find myself buying the compendium just to "vote with my wallet".
  23. And no Aeronautica. Even though i never played any of them i honestly hoped they could reach the bloodbowl Level of success (1 new Team per quarter. No more, No less xD). While i am at it: anyone got some guesses about the Bloodbowl team? We are in the realm of "could be anything, really". Hoping for Amazons or Vampires but could live with something never seen... Like Slaanesh or a troll team.
  24. Reactions are just command abilities. And AoS has anti - deepstrike/setup 9" away abilities. Just not available to everyone. If everyone had it the "legit fluff" deepstrike armies would curse everyone. I think the alternating activations in AoS are a nice compromise between easy gameplay and tactical challenge ( who do i pick first?). Simultanious combat is really a lot more bookkeeping than people think ( the sadly quite forgotten WH40k 8th Ed Apocalypse had it). And Initiative is basically like some armies having always strikes first - NPE waiting to happen. Most complaints happen when it is NOT alternating activations: shooting ( just the active Player), strike first (remember the double-tapping you -strike-last super-fast Keeper of Secrets? ) or simply killing everything with one activation. And we seem to always find new, fluffy reasons for these extreme rules...
