  1. Yeah, I was to-ing and fro-ing about this but I'm doing the same. The guaranteed mortals on units of 10+ for the Thunderbolt is nothing to sniff at, but quite situational (in a battalion that already has quite situational Paladins) and is a mere ping on a true horde unit. The range and 2+ to Hit on the Prime (for 1d6 hits) from the Shockbolt is just too reliable and versatile to ignore...
  2. That's great. I was trying to come up with a Slayers list last night and just couldn't make it work. Gonna have to steal this and give it a go. Love the extra CPs for the Celestant assassination.
  3. Make him your Goretide general (for "Hew the Foe"), and give him the Sword of Judgement. Then you have: 4 3 3 -2 d3+1 3 3 3 0 3 If you've got heaps of attacks buffs in your army (which is half the point of Khorne lol), you put the Sword on his claws, then he's still an all-rounder who can butcher anyone. But with a Killing Frenzy, against Heroes and Monsters, he'll do 1d6MW for every 4+ to Hit. Alternatively, just put Runic Blade or Dimensional Blade on his claws for -3 Rend on that second weapon that's pumping out 3 Damage per wound.
  4. Well, Skullreapers never had rend on their normal weapons, just the unit superweapon and the champ's Vicious Mutation. And we still have the latter. Were you facing both the Mawkrusha and Brutes at the same time? Coz they'll chew through Skullreapers quite happily, as they should, together. And did you mention the Mawkrusha had particularly good luck with saves?
  5. I'm really disappointed that they changed their Murderous Charge AGAIN. They would have been absolutely fine at 140pts with the Wrath and Rapture version of the ability (1d6MW on 2+ vs 10+ models), and it would have given them a specific use and differentiated them nicely from Skullcrushers.
  6. Haha, awesome. I need to be able to make a Chaos Lord on Manticore my Goretide general. On the charge, with Dimensional Blade: Daemon blade 4 3 3 -3 dmg1d3+1 Lance 3 3 3 -1 dmg4 (on the charge) Jaws 5 4 2 -2 dmg2 Tail d6 4 4 0 dmg2 And all those weapon profiles can be buffed out the wazoo with Mongers, Secrators and Deathbringers. Not a bad combat package for 250pts. He can be my Mortal Thirster. ;-) (Imagine if, around GHB time, they fix his Mark ability to be a true 6" pile-in too. That would be insane.)
  7. Hey, do the Mortal Slaughterhosts only require Khorne Mortal generals or do they specify Bloodbound?
  8. Khorne has changed significantly mate, including the basic role of some units. Not even Khorne players quite know what they're doing yet. EDIT: Trying to be more helpful: What I know so far is that, in terms of reach, Mortals players will likely use Goretide and Bloodstokers to fling Reavers or Blood Warriors across the board much like the old Bloodletter bomb. They'll buff their catapulted units with a Stoker, who now has very limited range, so you'll see this coming a mile off. Daemons players have a similar "fast" sub-faction, but not to the same extent (eg: the WoK Thirster's run-and- charge command is gone). Skullcrushers are quite deadly on the charge in units of 6 or more, so killing the first one in 6 is a priority. They'll likely have a 2+ save in this scenario, so mortal wounds to ping that first one are ideal. Wrathmongers have changed completely from being anti-huge monsters and characters, and are now buffing units that can fight. This is great for any Stardrake players.
  9. I really apologise if this has been asked and answered multiple times, but search failed me big time. Does deployment in Azyr for Skyborne Slayers somehow circumvent the 1 for 1 restrictions of deployment in Azyr for Scions of the Storm? eg: the Slayers can deploy in Azyr, and then the REST of the army is subject to the 1-on-the-ground and 1-in-Azyr restrictions?
  10. Hey guys, what's the cost of the Bloodmad Warband? (Better question: has anyone compiled the Battalion costs somewhere other than a 30min YouTube vid?) Is that the one that came down to 120? Good composition for Goretide methinks...
  11. There's no way they let us have 2 Slaughterhosts in the same same list. We just get one and, unlike Stormcast or other factions, they only benefit half our roster, pushing usage to pure Mortals/Daemons. I have to admit, it's getting a little harder for me to stay psyched about this book other than just repeating a vague mantra about re-learning, testing and adapting. So I guess I'll do that. You guys are all very inspiring though. TGA Khorne players are pretty remarkable in that respect IMHO. We may whine a bit, but then we generally get on with the job. Not gonna get into Skillcannons and their Wrathmonger engineers though lol. Errata page 1.
  12. The Wrath and Rapture rule meant that 1 small 140pt unit could act as shock cavalry delivering 1d6MWs against the right units, potentially crippling screens etc. As a mixed Mortals and Daemons player this would have been much more flexible and useful to me rather than forcing me to take big units of Bloodcrushers (which we will need to do with their Mortal counterparts).
  13. That is hilariously bad. It's like a cruel joke.
  14. It should be noted that the Altar doesn't grant rerolls of Blessings, just Prayers and Judgements.
  15. I agree. I've been going light-on with magic lately, and am having a lot of fun with this double Heraldors list. Soooo many drops, but heaps of wounds too, and the double Heraldors threat really messes with the opponent's deployment... 16. Locus of Fury is straight up amazing if it's a passive always-on aura. Slaughter Triumphant looks like it will be really good combined with my usual huge swarm (170+ wounds) of cheap maniacs with lots of attacks. If Dark Feast survives the new Tome, it may be worth another look... We will still need some decent movement shenanigans though... bit nervous about this.
  17. It's the rest of it that makes it bad IMHO though. Wholly within 12" is rough. Bloodletters only (as opposed to Khorne, or even just Daemons). 1 unit only (as opposed to 4 units for the Juggerlord or Mighty Lord for example). If all of those those restrictions were for a scary buff, I certainly wouldn't be whining. But hey, he didn't even have a command before so... it's something.
  18. Super excited about the Tome and associated releases, but Skulltaker's command ability must be one of the worst ever. Apparently it's thus: "You can use this command ability at the start of the combat phase. If you do so, pick 1 friendly BLOODLETTERS unit wholly within 12" of a friendly model with this command ability. Until the end of that phase, you can re-roll wound rolls of 1 for attacks made by that unit." Everyone laughed at Mazarall's command, but this seems... so much worse. :-/
  19. Definitely a good Stormhost for 4 ballistae + Ordinator in the current meta IMO. The big centrepiece models just get pasted...
  20. I suspect there are a LOT of Khorne players counting on this tome being a bit more than a "tidy-up" of janky rules and 10 pages of errata. It'll be really interesting to see where they go with an army that's so been historically (necessarily) reliant on stacking buffs onto 6+'s. There's also the issue of being almost purely melee, and how many viable movement shenanigan options GW will offer up to support this.
  21. Dude, that's incredible. I'm about to start a small Brets force, and that's some awesome inspiration. Stunning.
  22. Yep. The only requirement for Khorne allegiance is the Khorne keyword. So you can have a Brass Despoilers battalion nested inside a Khorne army, because the Beasts in that battalion gain the keyword.
  23. 1 in 4 games I tend to play double Secrators and no battalions. Those lists tend to be 160 wounds+ minimum. You really miss the Priest rerolls, but I tend to win anyway just due to the volume of unbreakable wounds running around...
