  1. I think the main problem with mixing armies across Grand Alliances is that some synergies would go nuclear (because they aren't limited to units of the same faction or grand alliance). I'd be reluctant to loosen allegiances other than with the Sylvaneth-style battalions which allow a constrained number of Order units. Some armies (Bonesplitterz) must never be allowed to mix in Destruction units and retain their allegiance abilities (without being hard nerfed). Bonesplitter Arrer Boyz should just have a unit cap of 20 for example or be vastly more expensive.
  2. I play this as a probable typo - it meant to say mortal wounds.
  3. As I said in person very well done to all the organisers, Duncan, Rufio, Eddie and the wider GW Events team. Great to meet some of you for the first time. The venue is very good, well located and accessible by train+walking. Good range of food and drink in the area. Perhaps add a short list of what's nearby. Another 10 minutes between games would have been great.
  4. I don't think they have much choice but to work out points on the basis of a 2,000 point game. Some things scale up really well (Nagash, Kroak, Drycha) or down really well (Arachnorok and 10 Spider Riders at 500 points) and others scale down really badly (Fyreslayers - as I found out). Wizards are definitely weak at the moment. Your amendment would help, but only by buffing what is already the main reason for bringing one cheap wizard (Mystic Shield off a Grot Shaman) Perhaps Arcane Bolt could be removed from the Rule of One - it would also buff Tzeentch - who need help. This would remove a tactical consideration of activating a unit first - purely so that it can touch base and stop the enemy from piling in, which I quite like. On the other hand piling in can chew up time. Possibly restrict shooting in combat to only the models in combat Please stop asking for this. It's such a drastic change compared to say adjusting the costs of the Huskard on Thundertusk and maybe nudging Judicators up to 170 points. The fact that Bloodbound are on the top tables (e.g. Pano at Blood & Glory on the weekend, Russ Veal obviously) is one indication that shooting isn't too bad. Clarify multiple uses of the same artefact across multiple Heroes in the same army There's no ambiguity - this could be a balance change to nerf Battlebrew. I'm leaning towards either once per game for it (matching Quicksilver potion which is also amazing - but overshadowed by the Brew); or only having the single swig option, but you take D3/D6 mortal wounds for taking that single swig at the end of your battleshock phase (once) - as opposed to the start of your next hero phase, so your opponent can at least damage it more easily after one turn of immense killy. Check the points costs of big bads for possible point reductions i.e. Archaon I'm assuming that Nagash is getting a fat spell lore - a 48 inch range -2 to hit with shooting attacks (Deluge of Bats) would be a good start. After using him at Blood & Glory - I'm lost all reservations about Gordrakk and the Megaboss on Maw Krusha coming down in cost by quite some margin (see the community points suggestions compiled by @scrubyandwells. Ardboyz also need to be inherent Battleline. Destruction are all about mixing it up with different factions and the inability of Ironjawz to do this is their biggest handicap.
  5. Awesome. I'm out of likes again!
  6. I certainly enjoy this thread and I'm sure many others do too. I've been doing my battle reports every week for some time now and it's great when you get feedback on it. Cannot wait to do the ones on Blood & Glory. At the very least, you can reread them yourself and look at the photos in a years time to rekindle the alcohol nuked memories.... That's one reason I do them. Was great to meet Nigel at Blood and Glory for the first time (I think we've been at the same events before but haven't crossed paths previously). Always good to meet a fellow member of the Unhelpfully large bases and Overcosted Centrepieces Club. His army looked sweet. Love how he is trolling people with Crom the Conquerbargain. So looking forward to the watching the Livestream while assembling the Green Bay Packmasters (shame it's not original - but at least I thought of it independently) - especially South London Legion's Max winning on the top table in the last round and beating a 14 year old genius there too.
  7. Thanks Nico! Gratz on a good performance this past weekend. Thanks so much. If you said to someone that you would be going to be facing the following armies before the event: Mourngul list (with a Bravery 4 army); Beastclaw Raiders plus Kunning Rukk; Beastclaw Raiders plus Kunning Rukk, plus Moonclan; plus Spiderfang (kudos to South London Legion clubmate Alex Clark on fitting that into 2,000 points); Nurgle Tallyband; Beastclaw Raiders plus Moonclan plus Gitmob on Take and Hold (160 Grots vs my 109); Beastclaw Raiders plus Kunning Rukk, they would probably run for the hills. In fact, every game was phenomenal - normally I find that at least one game is predictable from the outset, but all of these were cliff hangers - rested on good decisions or mistakes of opponents or me. Great opponents all of you (Craig Chester, the Godfather of Beastclaw himself Paul Whitehead, South London Legion's own Alex Clark and @Leonardas; Darran Palmer and Paul Haley)! I think you all enjoyed seeing what the Nasty Skulkers could do and how Gordrakk hits like a cabbage/pillow. Really means a lot to get compliments from better painters than me. Thank you. Your Cabbage/Army is a masterpiece. While I remember thanks to Steve Wren and Jack Armstrong for saying such nice things about the army. If like me you've only been painting since AoS came out (and are a tad clumsy), then you can get a headstart with zenithal highlighting followed by a Badger Minitaire Ghost Tint (I couldn't believe how good the Cabbage and more recently the Magmadroth looked after just those two steps), then a wash, then a drybrush, then a glaze with a lighter colour (e.g. Guilliman Blue), then another lighter Drybrush, then edge highlighting. Basically watch loads of the Hobby Cheating Videos from Vince Venturella on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgptSaRLvd1QH0SURdQNYgg We'll have to have a Cabbage-off one day - I suspect that Gordrakk will lose to your Cabbage and will definitely lose to Megaboss Krunk - I strongly doubt he killed his 700 points across all of the six games aggregated.
  8. Expect to see Stormcast players marching in the streets if you ever messed with their Starsoul Maces. Whisper it quietly, but they doubled the number of Starsoul Maces early on after the release.... Read page one of the Rules. If you cannot agree, then roll a dice and whoever wins picks the realm. This is part of the core rules that remains in matched play. @Benpointed this out to me at The Warlords. I'd forgotten about it since it so rarely matters. I know - tucked away where you would never think of looking! As far as I know, this affects Drazhoath and the Magma Dragon - it's a big deal for the latter. I agree, but would go further, I don't see any reason to buff summoning. Wizards could use some small buffs (partly this will be fixed by Lore spells, e.g. Nagash, Arkhan). Could you please explain what you mean, fix him in which way? He's actually pretty well balanced at the moment (he also has the Balewind option for an extra 100 points). It continues to surprise me that we don't see more armies that are Stormcast plus Kroak etc.. Having built some lists using these jokers, I would suggest the following: Runemaster should cost minus 40 points (yes he's literally a boon to your opponent). The Magmadroths should cost less (unless they are planning to give them seriously good offensive and defensive abilities in an Allegiance Pack). The Runesmiter could go down to 80 (or have an allegiance ability that lets them tunnel two units instead of one). Vulkites are really good if you can subdue the part of your body that wants to use Multiple Small Units. As you said, they really need an allegiance pack as the Order abilities suck (and they aren't a top tier army like Stormcast). I'll see how they fare at Blood and Glory in a few hours - yes it's finally here - woop woop.
  9. This is the worst anti-Stormfiend rant I've seen today and I've seen 3. Every single such rule I've seen has a specific cap, e.g. 4 Starsoul Maces for 10 Paladins, 1 Goreglaive for 10, with the notable exception of Moonclan Grots (a "few" is it?) - people who stuff the unit with nets can go play by themselves. The reason why this is completely irrelevant to Stormfiends is that all of their weapon choices are "special weapons" - they are notionally balanced between themselves - e.g. Ratling guns actually are better against 5+ saves at medium range. Doomflayers have -2 rend etc..
  10. There are a few units that get buffs due to the choice of Realm (and you do technically pick a Realm at the start of the game - thanks @ben. The GH is not the place to meddle with the initiative rolls anyway. I also think the current system is at the heart of the game. Magic is very weak in the GH at the moment - especially compared to pew pew. One of the few virtues of magic and getting dumped with the first turn is that you'll get to fail that game-changing roll for mystic shield without the possibility of it being unbound. Making unbinding better would literally put wizards in the bin.
  11. Surely still an unnecessary buff to special characters. Nagash with a GKoTG next to him with either the 5+ ward aura or Red Reaper plus Tomb Blade would be horrific (Nagash would cast the GKoTG's ward save spell onto the GKoTG on probably a 2 - autocast).
  12. A few more like Ardboyz could be inherent Battleline or even Spider Riders (Bloodketters are inherent Battleline). The Order allegiance pack should be the worst as they are the biggest and best Grand Alliance. That said - it's particularly bad and should be buffed a little. Battlebrew has got to be counterbalanced - suggest doubling effect of relic blade and obstinate blade or allowing mount to use or both. Master of Defence should be a 5+ ward against wounds and mortal wounds. Thundertusks with Huskards should be 60 points more. So incredibly broken. Retreating onto an objective to score is a big part of the game. Otherwise the game becomes much more about Killy; and also pew pew, which doesn't need to move off objectives, fight and then scramble back to them or around an enemy unit onto them.
  13. Please think this through - Red Reaper Spam on all the FEC monsters, Red Reaper on Nagash. +6 to hit as Destruction or Chaos.
  14. Please think this through - Red Reaper Spam on all the FEC monsters, Red Reaper on Nagash. +6 to hit as Destruction or Chaos. Please stop with the ridiculous nerfs to Sylvaneth - it's bad enough that they are a monster dependent army and they lost their cover. This is probably why Oaken Armour exists. Cover on Dryads is integral to the viability of the army. They are not an overpowered army or even a top tier army. I agree Maw Krusha probably 460. Nagash presumably fixed when he gets a Lore Spell set - he should know the entire Lote. Stormfiends aren't worth as much as Fulminators. They have average armour and bad bravery - stand outside the 26 inch effective range with Sayl and shoot them off. Even Judicators have effective range of 29. Or just use a chaff wall. Clan Skryre should be either deleted or upped to 400 points. It adds no worthwhile experiences to either player. Necropolis Knights are a lot weaker than they were pre GH. Shoot the Liche Priest, shoot the Tomb Herald and then shoot them (5+ save vs shooting). Again - chaff wall. They also cannot fly on the charge itself. Kunning Rukk should also be more expensive. To various people's suggestions - keep Battleline as it is. It rewards people for keeping allegiance. Otherwise every list will be Kunking Rukk plus Savage Orruk Arrer Boyz, a Dread Maw, 3 Thundertusks with healing and a Stonelord.
  15. This would be a disaster - it's the main reward for sticking to allegiance. More particularly Kunning Rukk with the +1 to hit from Bellowing Shout and the +1 to hit from the Bonesplitterz spell would be game over turn one - except that shooting phase would take an entire hour. Sylvaneth with Order armies would be broken with their spells. The Javelin ones are extremely strong - this would be very unfair.
  16. It might be worth mentioning that you still need a leader and 2 battleline units for the AoS 500 and the AoS 1,000 - i.e. Vanguard rules.
  17. One comment - Vanhels only works in the Death player's turn from memory. Surprised you didn't global the unit - might have been worth a double chug.
  18. Is the Blood and Glory painting document available somewhere? Apologies if I'm being inobservant.
  19. Photos are on Twitter now. AoS ones do look sweet. How much are they?
  20. Another good write up. Did you have the Talisman on the Cabbage (cannot recall if it was fixed artefacts for the whole event)? Surely time for a double down of the Battle Brew (ditto any time Sylvaneth are spotted in the distance).
  21. None of them have done sadly. Really bad for Death. It would be nice if they went through the campaign books and pointed the sensible battalions (not Brotherhood of the Great Bolts or Hammer and Anvil).
  22. The Black Orc Big Mob had a gargantuan in it, so would make sense for a new formation in the box - but would suck if it doesn't get points.
