  1. More proof that Ogors are the Goldilocks of Destruction armies 🤩
  2. I am going out on a limb and guessing new Lumineth. Tyrion and his Aelves are a lot lazier than Teclis' Aelves when it comes to weapon forging. But in reality I saw it and immediately thought either Gargant or Ogor and since Gargants just got their release I am thinking Ogors. Icebrow hunter would nice but with the Underworlds kit there is a good model already to use. Unless it is a new model/unit I would personally like Maneaters to get a plastic kit with lots of optional builds. Obviously Butcher's desperately need a plastic kit at this point but it doesn't seem like a tool of their trade.
  3. Thank you @plavski and @michu I will wait to see more about the content. I am actually really excited about this campaign and very interested in this book but considering that there are a number of other books to follow I am slightly more hesitant. I am interested in picking up that box of chariots as it seems like it can help me make a really fun alt build for my army.
  4. So as a Slaves to Darkness player, does purchasing this book make sense? I am getting maybe 2 pages of content and it looks to be battalions? Also will this likely be the only update Slaves to darkness will see in this ongoing campaign series? Sorry, I am a little lost as I have never picked up one of these campaign supplements. I know I should have gotten Wrath of the Everchosen, but since I mostly play Undivided and do not have Varanguard very little of the content seemed applicable to my army.
  5. That is really dope! Conceptually that idea makes me think of old Playmates TMNT figures: being a strange blend of body horror and also clever fun.
  6. You have completely destroyed my thesis because that is infinitely better than what I had hoped for.
  7. I think this is the funny thing about this hobby in general. The most fun army is the one that doesn't exist... yet. I love the idea of sky grots as an army of mercenary pirates with tri-corner hats, cutlasses and blunderbusses. They may have that aesthetic or not... they may be released... or not. But it is fun to imagine. I really want Choas Dwarves but I can't decide if I want them to be Mesopotamian dwarves with hobgoblin and centaurs or as a part of the Slaves to Darkness army bringing in some much needed artillery. As a Slaves to Darkness player obviously the latter but as a Duardin fan the former... but it is exciting to speculate on both and it will be sad to not be able speculate to anymore. I feel they wont be either and what we end up with will be amazing but I will still be sad that it isn't what I have been hoping for. You Lumineth folk are lucky as you can keep speculating and hoping for Tyrion's sword wielding river elves with horse hats (my personal hope for his soliders).
  8. Nothing to add to the discussion (typical of my posts), but I am excitedly joining the (maw)tribe! Long story short: I traded IDK for SCE which I then traded for Beastclaw Raiders. They were my favourite army from the start as they are clearly the natural evolution of Bretonnians. I did not collect them when I re-entered the hobby as they always seemed like a good army to sway my friends with. When I learned my friends had no taste, I regretted not playing them and now I have rectified my poor decisions and have traded up in the world from a battle force to a complete 2000 point army (depending on how I build things). I also really wanted a good guy army to contrast my Chaos army and nothing is more good than some folks looking for a nice tasty meal.
  9. That is why I love the models. I really want to paint and model some heroes after the Dashavatara. I feel like the Lumineth are outside of my price range but I am tempted at buying some legacy high elves off of a friend and using them as the base for a Lumineth force.
  10. Full discretion: I have not delved into the army or its lore in great depth but I really do like Lumineth and the ongoing development of Aelves in AOS. I am curious why these posts complaining about armies are posted in general when there are dedicated forums to these specific armies and it seems much simpler to discuss in their dedicated threads. My personal take on Lumineth is similar to my take on all other new armies but to a greater extent. Which is to say, I feel like Lumineth are simply a starting point that will continue to be expanded upon. However, unlike many of the other armies (Idoneth, Kharadron, Ossiarchs), I feel like the direction that Lumineth will grow feels much more apparent. I think that the motifs and themes of the army will become stronger upon further releases and Lumineth will be a much loved army. I am a huge fan of the animistic worship of nature, embodied by animalistic spirits. It is something that exists in real world faiths and one that makes sense in the lore itself. The rules of the army are very strong but also they have some notable weaknesses and I do suspect that the Broken Realms and the eventual new edition will bring the rest of the armies in line with the Lumineth in terms of viability (not necessarily competitively). I have no personal experience with aethergold/quartz management, but in batreps it seems like a fun gimmick which permits extra resource management. I do not believe such rules should be applied to every army but it seems like a really fun strategic element to armies that do make use of it.
  11. Oh man this is really exciting... but also conflicts with my inherent cheapness. For those of you who played 40k and used the psychic awakening books what are the contents I should expect? Will this supplement or replace current books and does it contain all new unit profiles or simply just introduce new battalions/items/units/battle traits etc? I am looking forward to having a hero mounted in a chariot for chaos but I am not into it if there is a tax of two more chariots. I have always felt chariots made an amazing mount for heroes but I feel units of them make them feel less special and unique as a heroic mount.
  12. It is funny that I always envision Sigmar looking like the Celestant Prime and I find most art of Sigmar less impressive than his angelic second in command.
  13. Hey everyone, I was reading about the price point for the new 40k sets as well as mulling over the Getting Priced Out page and wondered how some of you have saved money with your army? I have yet to really try my hand with magnets but they seem like a great way at saving money on alternate builds. Obviously the secondary market is a great way to save some money as well. I am hoping to make this a constructive topic and a good place for people interested in starting an army to get tips on saving some money. I am returning to the hobby after a long hiatus so lack any great tips of my own but I am including some of my ideas as well. My very unoriginal idea was to run my Gorebeast as a chaos spawn it is practical and wastes less plastic. I have also considered kitbashing the Celestant Prime with some of my Demon Prince Bitz to make an undivided greater demon. I kind of want to do this more as a hobby project but I am also running an undivided army and don't have much use for a Greater Demon... maybe I can proxy it for Archaon? I am also starting an Ogor army and I am considering buying the Ogor Bloodbowl set and running them as Maneaters (2 boxes would let me run two units of Maneaters and a full unit of gnoblars). I am also thinking of converting a Ogor rider into an Icebrow Hunter.
  14. I can say that Liberators and Chaos Warroirs need some re-evaluation in terms of points but I often find many people's complaints translate more broadly into them not knowing/liking how they play. Liberators are made somewhat redundant by the copious amounts of SCE units but Chaos warriors have a place in their army and the meta.
  15. As someone that plays STD and Warcry, I really don't mind the warbands in AOS at all but I hate that they are completely overshadowed by marauders. I think the issue lies less with the Warbands and more with how much better marauders are in every feasible way. Not a single Warcry warband is worth taking over a unit of marauders. I personally do not run marauders and I only use my warcry warbands for Rally the Tribes as it is sadly their only useful option providing summons for extra bodies.
  16. I will say that the Raptoryx's and Furies were absolutely the selling point for me the first go around. Such cool models I just wish that Raptoryx's had the demonic keyword.
  17. Clearly the inflated cost is due to the set containing Daughters of Khaine. I was really set on getting this set and the upcoming Slaanesh/DoK set but opted to get a cheaper army second hand army instead and I am really thankful I took that approach.
  18. Oh wow, that is really fantastic to hear. I never would have guessed that my silly posts on this forum could have a positive real world impact. 😇 I really look forward to sharing my thoughts and hearing the thoughts of this community on all of the news that comes out. COVID has been really rough particularly as we are all invested in a social hobby. So it is nice to have a friendly medium in which we can commiserate and share. Returning to rumours, were any rumour engine images uncovered by any of todays reveals?
  19. Very true this forum is by far the most open and community oriented warhammer group I have seen online. As a matter of fact, it is probably one of the best online communities I have encountered period.
  20. Hahaha, No worries your positive energy and excitement has made this community a better place. I feel like this whole thread is @KingBrodd fan thread. I think it is sometimes tough with this hobby due to prohibitive costs and occasional toxicity but to see someone genuinely excited about it reminds me of why I love this hobby.
  21. And this news trumps the entire preview! 😮
  22. I feel fairly indifferent to the majority of news this go around. None of it was bad news just simply no updates that spoke to my interests in the game. Only one system that I play is getting anything at all and it is just a complied resource for rules. I am happy for the fans of the games that did get news and I think there were some really neat models. Blood Bowl: Awesome models and as someone with no interest in American Football this game is slowly wearing down my mettle. Warcry: I am glad that they are moving away from cards into books and I will probably pick up the Chaos book but this was a sadly underwhelming reveal. Underworlds: I love that Slaangor, everything else is pretty cool but pretty much non-existent in my mind. I really want the god specific gors to all get updates now. Beyond that I do not play underworlds nor the two factions in the set and even if my opponents do, I will probably not see these models getting play except as proxies. Animation/Media: I am a massive animation fan and it was a major part of my university studies. However, I am just not overly invested into the grimdark setting of 40k. I will check them out due to my love of animation and its relationship to my hobby but I would be more excited for an AOS or Old World series... maybe blood bowl. But truth be told I have always had a strange relationship to the lore where I enjoy learning it and using it as a source of inspiration, but I prefer to develop my armies to have their own lore which is often not immediately tied to the greater narratives of GW's licences. Kill team: Despite not loving 40k I really enjoy watching Kill Team batreps. So this is pleasant news although more things that I am not personally invested in.
  23. I mean if the rumours are true we might get a vampire themed army and some new Xenos. That is pretty exciting but yeah as far as Underworlds goes it will likely just be some models that we already know about.
  24. Somehow that makes it an even more guess realistic.
