  1. Even if it's the file, the file and a 3d printer with enough resin to print loads is less than 9 Forgeworld bulls. And if you're just printing 10, you have fewer duplicates.
  2. You know, I just realised a sad thing for the beastmen: We had a new minotaur, but it's Lumineth. Now we have yet another... Head, as trophy with the anniversary model. Though the Slaangors do make up for it.
  3. If I came across as accusitory that someone likes something, I apologise for not being clearer. I may not agree with conclusion about elements from the models, but everyone has their own tastes, and even in my opinion, almost everything about the models looks very well. Not that my opinion about the models is all that important if you enjoy them.
  4. Similar to the rapid growth of humans. And dwarves. And goblins. Dwarves went from 17mm eye height (metal dwarves) to 24 (Kharadron and Gotrek), humans from 27 (90's plastic bowmen) to 32 (Excelsior Warpriest, Godsworn hunt, Eyes of the nine though that was hard to measure) as well as increasing in bulk quite a bit. All new models have increased in size. Which makes them unattractive to mix with 28mm models or even their older selves. Even Greatswords and Guards look off with 28 mm, newer ones are just nonsense. It's a deliberate choice, not just to add more detail, but also to have people replace their old models with new and double priced models, and other brands being less compatible. With a side of changing my purchases to different companies that are more consistent in scaling.
  5. UK extended full lockdown to at least mid Februari
  6. I like the more classic half of the army, the cathaller, light of eltharion, spear units (though spears are way too fragile), bow units and cavalry. Don't mind the stone mage. Don't really like the battle cattle, but the two handed hammer dudes just can't wear those helmets and use their weapons. Most offputting is price.
  7. Make the dwarves zombies or ghouls, nice and thematic.
  8. Morathi? Or is she more of an evil step mother... Snow white skin, red lips and a dress, if you paint her hair black, maybe this is a snow white? https://www.games-workshop.com/en-NL/Isabella-Von-Carstein
  9. I have put the Celestial Hurricanum models on thin 25mm Renedra bases, which I textured a bit, that also works. I though very briefly about cutting it out entirely with a 25mm circular saw drillbit that I have thinned down, but decided against that. Enabling it more is always better. I think I have enough in the cheap and cheerful models now, with some 300 unpainted to choose from for my d&d needs, so new stuff will be those centerpieces. I've put the Ironclad, Frigate and Mortis engine, as well as Katakros and Sisters procession in the cart quite often, but never actually put them through.
  10. Though I'm known for going off topic, maybe the singular combination of Kharadron that dominates (Zilfin + Khemist + WLV in a bottle) is its own topic, and not something all that relevant in AoS vs 40k attention from GW.
  11. For me, versatility is enough. If I'm not using the hypothetical Ironclad, I might have a use for the navigator without the ironclad. I know there now is a hole in it, but I can either put another dwarf there or not, but I have more versatility from the kit than I would otherwise have. For the procession similar, if I want to use a few of them separately, I'd have to build it so I cantake them from the big base. That is, if I'd be playing. My minis are mostly being used in D&D and Pathfinder, and if the miniatures work without the diorama, I don't really care about missing rules. If the minis do not work without the diorama, I have no use for them so the diorama needs quite a bit more value for money as a painting project. That value for money I won't find in GW's catalogue.
  12. That's something I also noticed. The diorama style centrepieces' individual figures are good enough that, if you're not using the model as a centrepiece and have constructed it that way, you can easily field them as separate entities. This is true for Katakros and the Triumph of st Katharine, but also for the Celestial Hurricanum with its four wizards, Couldron of Blood, Freeguild General on Griffin (with a general on foot and battlewizard on foot after minor conversion) Kharadron Frigate (navigator) and Kharadron Ironclad (both Navigator and Endrinmaster).
  13. I think he was released in Australia as a generic Knight Questor. Since it's Australia, I expect it to be about $50. I'm still salty they killed off the Excelsior Warpriest and his puppy for this generic Knight Questor.
  14. I've heard quite a few comments from 40k players being jealous of AoS because of the model quality, enough that they started playing them (Kirioth among them). There was quite a bit of "GW, just put these in 40k" at the Mortal Slaanesh reveals. And I agree with them. I may have stepped out of GW products mostly, but it seems that GW makes good use of AoS's design freedom to make designs that are really out there. Same with Blood Bowl, the Snotlings especially show that, but the whole second edition box is brilliant. For 40k, Sisters have a good aesthetic, Mechanicus gives lots of freedom, some Necrons are interesting, but that's it. Orks have received a single model, Tau not doing much better, and all the space elves haven't fared much better. The Space Stormcast did see a lot of models, but all of them look about the same. Necromunda, again, gives more freedom, and their sets are again brilliant. Even brought back Squats without just picking up Kharadron with other guns. I don't know anything about books though.
  15. It's a Heroquest-like game, but a bit more expansive in options.
  16. A new Warhammer Quest would be a good place to introduce them. Favourite Warhammer quest hero list: Female Kharadron and/or Fyreslayer Halfling Vampire hunter LuminethMage (or just a Lumineth Mage) Kroxigor (or gryph hound, if we must have a Stormcast hero) With nordic undead whalers and vampies as enemies. These have zombie orcs, dwarves, elves, lizardmen and halflings, with a few classy vampires and and undead walrus/giant lionfish/manatee/porpoise/eel/shark as bosses
  17. I suggest a march to Excelsis! Drop some Ork Flesh contrast over our heads, and cry havoc. Or just WAAAGH!
  18. Ah, that's my limited knowledge of miniatures then. My Renedra products (Renedra, Warlord, Northstar), Wizkids and Blacklist and most of my boardgame minis are all softer than modern GW (older GW, being the mid-'90's Bretonnian Bowmen, Empire Knights and Bretonnian knights are as hard as modern Renedra).
  19. I can also vaguely remember that harder plastic wears molds out quicker. GW uses very hard plastic.
  20. GW doesn't do 28mm. They do 25 mm for LOTR, and Heroic scale, which depending on the sculptor and the year of design is between 28 and 34 mm but weirldy proportioned (mostly bigger hands and heads, but generally very, very wide. Just a tad more realistic than LEGO minifigs). The square base they showed does seem to fit the shape for a 20*20 mm base (height of base is usable as a guide for base size). This indicates, to me, a heroic scale. How far that has grown by the time TOW comes out, nobody knows, but I estimate the average human to have an eye height of 34 mm by then.
  21. Look at the shields used. The Empire shield shapes fit the ones we have quite well, and are from the same historical time as the Freeguild lineup. Bretonnia also fits their 14th century knight aesthetic quite well. They could, and might, use scale creep to make old armies seem odd (and bot Freeguild Guard and Crossbowmen really want a refresh), but the current artwork indicates the broad design of the armies could well fit.
  22. Yeah. We know it's not really a 2.0 book, but it is not yet in compendium state. GW does not have a good track record in admitting something will be cut (like chaos familiars or some 30 kits and warscrolls july 2019), and communication for FW is worse than the main line.
  23. I've noticed that 1 Vorgorath is about equal to 672 infantry, 112 cavalry, 15 commanders and 18 artillery in a Perry army deal (28 mm). Together with barely existing rules in the game, and models dropping from sale without a notification, FW doesn't need recasters to be a bad option.
  24. You can easily use your historicals as basing materials, having the same scale isn't as important when they are being crushed underfoot.
  25. GW does actively market the FW Blood Bowl and Necromunda stuff, they come up often in articles and are depicted in rulebooks. For AoS, I suspect they're going to plastic or exclusion in the long run, and when a mold wears out or breaks, an offering is gone. Don't expect an announcement of that either.
