  1. yeah i don't think the Old Ones have any Mortal Realms involvement? While I would love a nice Seraphon release, I really am dying to know more about the Hysh aelves...
  2. i'm excited to see if there will be aesthetic-divisions among the Hysh aelves either between Tyrion or Teclis, or between Teclis' experiments!! I don't necessarily regret buying into SCE for AOS, but I have always regretted not going High Elves in WHFB... so I'm so pumped to see high fantasy high elves
  3. So we've seen the Ogor hunter for Beastgrave, any news at all on the other warbands?
  4. if only elf popularity was reflected in their model variety... (especially CWE)
  5. oof, this one? https://shop.army-case.com/miniature-carrying-case/a-case-hybrid-the-kane/ I know I need some extra/new padding because my SCE are way too big for something that was supposed to fit Guard-sized minis... but these are too expensive
  6. Both armies could use something, but it does look more Ogor. I'm not a fan of having a Gargant army so I hope if it's a big model it's Ogors 😅
  7. if they're dwarf skulls it could be an Ironjaws hero shield? Since dwarves are tiny compared to brutes
  8. Let's take a look! WHFB elves: Asrai (wood), Asur (high), Druchii (dark) Are now Wanderers, Highborn, and Exiles Teclis' created/saved aelves he named Cythai ("awakened"), before they morphed into Idoneth Deepkin Morathi's created/saved aelves are called The Scathborn, but the units have -ai as names, not sure if they've got elven meanings. She also has leathanam which are "worker drones". We have beast aelves named Kurnothi after the hunting god Kurnoth, who is a combination of Kurnous and the other elven god I can't remember right now. I think the Hysh aelves will have a name that Teclis gave them, especially since his first try failed. Now my guess, is that the faction name will be an aelven word--the question is what is related to "awakened"? Maybe they'll be "The Ascended" instead, since this is Teclis' successful magic? If the aelven name is based on Hysh itself, we have some main components of the realm to go by: logic, reason, symmetry, and aetherquartz as their magical resource means geometric and crystalline aesthetics for the realm. GW may separate the faction title from the aelf term like DOK, of which I think it will have something to do with this "Lumination" that the wiki mentions. But Idoneth are both faction and race name so it's really up for grabs I guess... I'm dying over this wait y'all (inb4 they're still called Cythai)
  9. The full sprue box, or the original Start Collecting? Seems weird to take a whole kit off, but maybe the lack of sales from them being blech are showing...
  10. judging from the teaser video, I would guess yes. Even the Teclis model they silhouetted looks similar in style to his WHFB model, albeit BIGGER because God.
  11. My local store owner hadn't seen the New Year's reveals when I stopped in the day after to ask about it, but he did say releases are usually ~3mo after model reveals. Since we only got concept art........ hopefully the models are shown in February so we can get our hands on these light aelves in time for the sun's return to the Northern Hemisphere.
  12. the bulging muscle doesn't seem very human to me though looking at it a second time, I do agree the binocs look Imperial. But why redo Catachan when us Guard peeps have been asking for literally anything else besides Cadia/Catachan plastic sculpts...
  13. It will be cool to have "pointy aelves" in AOS, but I was also looking forward to weird and wild units in a high fantasy styling so hopefully this army has both??
  14. Hate to agree and I can't tell if it's because I'm reading more about playing than hobbying/painting itself, but I'm about to return the Vanguard SC box my girlfriend bought me to wait on Hysh aelves I know I've got my own painting-block hill to get over, but the dread feeling that I won't enjoy Stormcast if I ever play again makes that block a bit heavier itself.
  15. I guess I set up the warscroll builder wrong / didn't fully grasp the requirements welp... my list is still 1000 even with 2x5 sequitors
  16. I could have sworn GW said you need 2 battleline in M.E?
  17. this is exactly my concern since I really enjoy their model design, but it feels like there are many better units to buy over them.
  18. How much can you expect someone new (or young) to research before choosing though..? Because really, you should also be picking an army based on what you'd like to build and paint, and the lore that resonates with you the most--not just the capacity to win. I understand the "rule of cool" only takes you so far, but if someone abso-f!@#ing-lutely loves the idea of Steampunk dwarves, why should they be punished when they find out the cool models they made do poorly against others? More than the current meta frontrunners should be coming off the shelves, and new players shouldn't need to feel like they wasted money (which would take them out of the hobby entirely) because everything about the army is awesome aside from the table play.
  19. that's a fair breakdown; Deepkin steal souls while Vampirates want the bodies, Scourge wants (living) slaves too
  20. yeah that's part of why I feel like Vampirates would be a strange addition; why not make the Deepkin 'deeper'
  21. NICE, vanguard have such cool models
  22. Vampire Coast works decently in TWW2, but I don't think I would like them in AOS when there's so many more fantastical armies they could do; ulgu and hysh aelves, kurnothi, grungni army, scuttlers...
  23. I guess that makes sense then, I have been wondering how CoS would affect our unit rules..
