  1. I’m fairly sure at this point that Whitefang is an Old One. We are all mere Slanns and Skinks compared to him trying to divine the Great Rumors from his distant signs.
  2. I'm definitely interested to try these changes. I agree that some of the increases seem like too much (coupled with the herdstone nerf), but I can also see this book working decently well in many other respects. Certainly not EVERY unit is overcosted, so we may just not be playing with all our scrolls till points fixes come in. Being able to ambush with the entire army is also pretty cool in the sense that you can overload 1 side after seeing your opponent deploy to minimize how much of their list can actually participate in the 1st round or two. Obviously, that might make objectives a little hard, but if you overwhelm early enough maybe that doesn't matter. I don't know, it will be fun to try!
  3. Exciting! Bummed I’ll have to wait for my BoC warcsrolls though
  4. I think the lack on transparency here is a problem though. Imagine if when gitmobs were squatted they said, "but don't worry, in coming years we'll have more on this group of plains-roaming gitz!", then we'd be a lot less worried. On the other hand you have stuff like Swifthawk Agents that are still mentioned in lore from time to time and yet were bretton'd and we have no clues as to whether they'll come back. I agree with the thrust of what you're saying, but it's hard to be positive without the transparency for many folks. Myself, again, I'm not too worried. I love my CoS, but I have so many armies that losing part of one won't be a crippling blow to my enjoyment of the game. For others, however, that will feel very different.
  5. Models getting replaced with newer sculpts is not something I think anyone fears. It's models losing warscrolls with no replacements that people dislike.
  6. I also feel like, while the mixed race vibe of the cities is cool, it’s narratively going away a bit. Having recently read dominion, they made it clear that the vast majority of duardin aren’t occupying the same positions in society that humans are, same for aelves. I predict that long term (10 years or so), this will eventually become a human faction with neat coalition rules and the occasional non-human, unless they start pushing mixed-race squads (which would be awesome, but they haven’t seemed willing to do it so far). The other races will move to other factions (possibly even new ones) or be squatted. Just my prediction
  7. I mostly agree with this assessment and i say this as someone who plays cos, and specifically owns 20 phoenix guard, 2 phoenixes, 20 eternal guard, 1 nomad prince, 20 sisters of the watch, 5 sisters of the thorn plus a lot more that isn’t on the squat list! And the majority of this is painted too! I’ll be genuinely sad to lose most of this, but we really do need a more modern look for cos that just doesn’t exist today. I wish the update was going to bring more non-human models and i wish all the models not getting resculpts would stay , but i also think that most non-elite freeguild models today look like ****** and never bought any. Needless to say, I’ll at least be consoling myself with cool new humans, though i might be slightly annoyed if i end up needing to paint a new version of demigryphs all over again (not annoyed enough to stop me doing it though) I also wouldn’t really mind seeing the non-humans of the book get integrated into other factions at some point (especially with new sculpts). I still hold hope for a true dispossed faction and i think wanderers could be wonderful in sylvaneth or on their own
  8. I think you misunderstood what I was responding to (or else I wasn't clear). I was asking what good faction update pace would be if they don't count books/"infantry heroes". It seems like actual updates (currently) outside of that happen for the average faction every 4-5 years, with that average being pulled down by stormcast a bit. EDIT: Battletome updates are one of my favorite parts of this game. I guess I'd prefer they be free digital updates in an app instead of a physical book, but beyond that I love them. It's a bit hard for me to understand those who are only in it for the hobby side of things, but I respect you guys!
  9. That’s fine, but how often would you reasonably expect each faction to be updated then? Seems like most armies would average to once every 4-5 years
  10. I don’t actually have any issues with the 1 hero plus book approach. Especially because they so often use it to bring us plastic versions of resin heroes. The fact that we’ve had several decent sized Army updates already in this edition (sylvaneth, nighthaunt, slaves, stormcast, kruleboyz, sons of behemat), I’m actually feeling good about what we’ve gotten since third edition. I mean, i wouldn’t mind having more, but I’m really not sad about this at all. Yes, there are armies that still could use updates, but I’m confident most if not all those updates will come in time.
  11. Regarding Ironjawz "not needing more models". First off, agreed. They don't NeEeEeD more models, but they could have them and they could be AWESOME! Second, acknowledge that each of the orruk tribes/warclans has the a "thing" that they do in the lore (and to a degree in their rules). Bonesplitterz are basically magic/waaagh. Ironjawz are brutality/beefiness. Kruleboyz are cunning/manipulation. However, they all borrow from each other. Ironjawz have magic and waaagh energy. Kruleboyz have big brutal monsters. Bonesplitterz love to be brutish and hack things apart. They each have their "thing", but they build off that do kind of do other things too. So where does that leave Ironjawz? Let's dive in: New warmachine: Bashin' Ead The Bashin' Ead initially brings to mind a Bonesplitterz Big Stabba. However, it's larger, like a giant battering ram. Orruk'd by 3 brutes, two near the front by the "Ead" and one at the back helping push. This puts it on a relatively large base. The "Ead" of this ram is "fashioned" in the likeness of Gork. As with more ironjawz manufacture, it is made of beaten iron in the shape of Gork's head. Within the head, there are magical bones and rocks which channel the energy of the waaagh. Because of this and despite the fact that this model is not a monster, it can use monstrous rampages as it it were. It has a high damage attack profile (3 or 4) with generous rend (-2 or -3) with only a small number of attacks, balance to taste. It helps in the role of high rend, and due to it's non-monster status be a fair monster killer, being able to titanic duel without a matching reprisal. New elite infantry: Steel Crushas Most Brutes consider the over-armored nature of the 'Ardboyz to signify weakness. They themselves only wearing minimal armor due to their large frames and their desire for greater range of movement. Steel Crushas have no such reservations. They armor fully and eschew weaponry in favor of wielding two large slabs of pig iron that somewhat approximate shields. Mechanically, the have only a 3" move and cannot run, but when accompanied by sufficient numbers of nearby Orruks, the waaagh energy swells within them and these limitations are lessened. They don't have much rend (maybe 1), but they have some charge damage on them and count as more models on an objective. They also have a baseline 2+ save and gain a small mortal wound ward when empowered by the waaagh. The theme here is tankiness and objective capture. New hero: Mega-boss on Gore-grunta Not a lot to say here, but now you can do a somewhat smaller (but still mobile) mounted hero. Endless Spells: I've posted about these before, but we NEEEEEEED foot of gork. Can share with other warclans. You could do more of course. These are just examples
  12. I get that it’s a joke (and a good one at that!), but Lumineth WERE one of those smaller armies until they had their second wave. The only anomaly for them was that their second wave came very quickly. It’s weird that we keep picking on them when really we’d just love to have a 2nd wave of fyreslaers/ko/ironjawz/idoneth/bonesplitterz, etc EDIT: What is that about Financial Education Compensation?
  13. I mean, stormcast really are just smooth chaos warriors
  14. I think you mean WWE super slam gargants!! “It’s King Brodd!!! With a steel chair!!!!” ” He’s throwing him like a ragdoll!!!” ” Invisible John Cena noises “
  15. So that’s what people meant about them being a toxic army! (It’s a joke, I’m actually painting LRL today)
  16. I feel like the face-damage is too extensive for that thing to be alive. You make a fair point though!
  17. Khorne Warband for warcry? Posted on the AoS FB page.
  18. Dude if they soup gargants and ogors that will be so sucky! The orruk soup has been mostly awful so far and the goblin "soup" also doesn't work. If they do soup them, then they need to actually synergize together instead of being multiple factions in 1 book for no discernible reason.
  19. This would unironically be more exciting to me than a new gargant! No shade to the gargants (I love them), but I just want Orruk Endless Spells THAT BADLY!!!
  20. Reading through the lore of the new Warcry set, you learn that Ven Talax was an explorer who first discovered the ruins in the Gnarlwood. He tells everyone about it and leads another expedition which never emerges again. Others have found many corpses from this second expedition, and journals from Ven Talax depicting a descent into desperation and madness, but they never find his corpse. Seems decently possible to me that he could be leading the tattered remnants of his second expedition as a CoS warband or maybe even more likely an FEC warband.
  21. Ah, guess I missed the whitefang hint on that one... still they've yet to break this pattern with white dwarf updates and battletomes, but it would hardly be the first time they've broken a pattern in a disappointing way, lol. *Grumbles about orruks never getting endless spells or terrain*
  22. Those were for the previous edition, not the 3rd edition updates with battle tactics and grand strategies. Those were all overridden by the Broken Realms: Kragnos update to Gitz anyway.
