  1. I think the rule of thumb for Troggs is Fellwaters in 3s, and Rockguts at 6 or more. Fellwaters get little benefit from bigger squads, and by smaller squads of 3 you can stop damage spillover. The only reason I didn't have two squads of rockguts at 6 is because I wanted to leave space for flex pick in my list, in case they wanted an ally, some shamans, some spear grots, spiders, or something else.
  2. You can use the Troggoth Hag for now, but I would wait until the new Battletome comes out before you buy her. GW seems to discontinue FW stuff around their related battletome releases. You can get a pseudo-hag with the Dankhold Troggboss with the Arcane Tome generic artifact. It makes the Troggboss a caster, and then he can summon the cauldron endless spell to function similar to a weaker Hag. Cast Flaming Weapon on himself for a giggle. For a 1000 point list. I would probably bring; • Troggboss (General) • Fellwater Troggs (x3) • Rockgut Troggs (x6) • Rockgut Troggs (x3) That leaves you at 810 points. From there you could reinforce either squad of rockguts to make them hit harder or add another fellwater squad. If you aren't militant about being Troggs only, you could add in a Madcap or Fungoid for magical support and 5 spider riders to be a meat shield or screen for your troggs.
  3. Counterpoint; they updated Skeletons but not Grave Guard.
  4. 6 wounds, then armor and Look Out Sir from his toadies, 3+ to put those wounds on his court instead, and each member of his toadies is 2 wounds. He's a remarkably durable little guy.
  5. I'll be honest, one of my (very unlikely) hopes for the new Battletome is that Mollog becomes a hero. And I mean a real named hero, not his current profile. Make him like a named Troggboss with a unique command ability and special weapon. Maybe keep his wounds at 9 with the squig sacrifices so he can still benefit from Look Out Sir. Of all the Underworlds kits I feel like you could re-release him and be fine, since he's his own solo thing. He's just one hero. His squigs are just tokens in AoS.
  6. Ah, I misunderstood Underworlds Warband with Warcry Warband. Whoops.
  7. Arenai sounds like a Daughters of Khaine warband name. It would fit with the naming schemes of them so far. Let's look at the 3 names they had announced; Sundered Fate: Tzeentch vs Seraphon. Very Tzeentch-y name, so it fits. Bloodhunt: Arenai vs ???. Since we are doing god-aligned warbands now, and it's all about blood, most likely Khornate marauders/berserkers. I think that's a really safe bet, but it could also be Beastmen hunting in these Ghurish bloodgrounds. Nightmare Quest. No hints so far, but "Quest" gives me knightly vibes. To go down the list of knights with a 'nightmare' theme; We could have some vainglorious Slaanesh themed knights/squires, we could see Flesheater Courts as a warcry warband (like questing "knights"), we could have skeleton/zombie knights supporting one lesser vampire/wight, we could see more grot knights like the Underworlds Warbands.
  8. I heard way back it was because GW was experimenting with new 3d design processes for models when they made Fyreslayers, or maybe new 3d modeling software that they look so same-y. You can definitely see it on their early heroes. The newest one from the Idoneth box is pretty distinct, but if you go back to the first batch they reuse assets everywhere, which makes them blend in among the chaff. When you can count the amount of clothes/armor they wear on one hand, any duplicates become very obvious. The Battlesmith shares a helmet and axe with the regular vulkite berserkers, his only unique thing being his banner. The Doomseeker is just a vulkite with a few more runes in his skin and a slightly different helmet. The Runemaster has the same helmet as a Hearthguard, but he shaved his mustache. The Runeson has a unique helmet, bur his weapon choice looks like a vulkite who pulled the throwing hatchets off his belt. Only the Runesmiter and Runefather really look very distinct.
  9. Excluding Spiderfang is excluding half of the grots in Gloomspite. There's just Moonclan and Spiderfang. In WHFB, there were 3 main tribes/subspecies of goblins; the normal ones who dress up like Mongolians, ride wolves, chariots, and build siege equipment; The Forest Goblins, who live in deep dark forests and dress up as Native Americans and ride spiders; and the Night Goblins, the cave tribe who put on wizard robes, breed squigs, and do drugs. All three were kind of equal and played together in lore and goblin themed lists. Both Grom and Skarsnik were known to have all 3 types in their Waaaghs. Jump to AoS, Night Goblins were the most popular of the 3 subfactions and the most aesthetically unique, so they became the face of Gloomspite. They got split into 3 subfactions, Moonclan on Foot, Moonclan on Squig, and their cave trolls became the Rockguts and Dankholds. The Forest Goblins were left as a 4th subfaction, Spiderfang, and normal goblins (Gitmob) got Squatted. Now they are bringing back the normal goblins to the goblin faction like the old days. It's still probably going to be Moonclan focused, but it's nice to get Wolf Riders back. Gloomspite should be a union of goblins and their beasts, not just Moonclan (even if Moonclan is my favorite of the subspecies).
  10. Eh, I would be happy with just Gitmob stuff. Snarlfang Hero, Snarlfang Cavalry, then something like a Chariot or Snotling Pump Wagon to be their "heavy" unit. Maybe a Shaman, but that might be asking for too much. I wouldn't snub more models, I would love siege weapons like the Doom Diver or a plastic Squig Gobba, new spider riders and spider hero, a third Trogg variant that's ranged, etc. But to keep it reasonable, I expect a hero, cavalry, and some centerpiece heavy thing.
  11. We Gitz bottle and sell copium, we take what we can get. Mushroom-fueled desperation. It is really weird that there's leaked new instructions when Rippa and friends are getting discontinued. Maybe some of the older underworlds warbands are going to be popping up in other products, like those magazines that come with sprues or a Barnes&Noble specific game.
  12. My guess; Centaurion - Chaos Dwarf Hero, probably Bull Centaur. Chaos Legionaries - Chaos Dwarf line troops, in a slightly Roman style. Horns of Hashut - either Bull Centaurs or Warcry Warband. A smaller supplemental force to Chaos, like Spiderfang is to Gloomspite.
  13. At least locally, there were a lot of dormant Ironjawz players in 2nd edition. People liked the models but felt restricted in using them because of a low amount of unit options. Kind of like that joke from 40k where everyone is a Space Marine player, even if it isn't there main faction.
  14. That terrain is freaking amazing. I really hope it doesn't get shut down before all the STLs are released.
  15. Predictions: Combined Duardin book announced, with Grungi or Grombrindal getting a tease. Kharadron hero or named character Nighthaunt battletome announced, with a single new hero type. Chaos Dwarf team for Blood Bowl Wishlist; Beasts of Chaos battletome announcement, with obligatory plastic hero (Beastlord?) Something grot related (please?)
  16. My prediction for Gloomspite Gitz is a battletome late in the year with a single obligatory hero to come with it. This will either be; A remake of an existing resin kit; probably the Loonboss with Great Cave Squig or Spiderfang Boss on Great Cave Spider. Something bigger that makes a marketable centerpiece. A new twist on an existing unit, like the Warlock Bombardier was for the Skaven. Maybe a Dankhold Hag or Squig-mounted Shaman. They will finally make the Shaman council box useful, the Dankholds will get the Monster Keyword, and Spiderfang will be forgotten.
  17. The bottom pattern looks like how they do hover vehicles in 40k. But also it looks extremely grungy and poorly managed, so I would say maybe something for GSC or Chaos?
  18. Malerion has been being "rumored" since 1st edition, any mention of him in any rumor schedule needs a heavy pinch of salt. And I don't see how Silent People would somehow be Death unless its a bunch of zombie bug carcasses.
  19. Bounderz are the best, but to fulfill the battleline requirements you will need Hoppers or Herds. I would personally say Bounderz now since they are awesome, and then have your next box be Herd or Hoppers to start filling out your battleline.
  20. I don't know if the Arcane Tome is OP, but I certainly like it for my faction. Make any Troggboss a discount Troggoth Hag and give them the flaming sword generic spell to make them good in melee. Need a faster Shaman? Arcane Tome on the Loonboss Riding Squig, and due to keyword shenanigans he can take spells from Lore of Moonclans. It's just incredibly versatile. My experience is limited to my own faction though, I don't think anyone else near me uses it.
  21. Coming from 40k, making a basic unit such good value that you bring it even without requirement can be a slippery slope. I remember in early 8th edition common wisdom for Orks was "bring boys." Point-for-point, Boyz were the most efficient unit in the army for basically any purpose, and you would bring ~100. Specialists like Nobz, Flash Gits, or Burnaz? Cheaper to bring more Boyz for more attacks. Eventually they were tuned and other units improved, but I remember the days of only Boyz and Mek Gunz.
  22. It doesn't help that Fyreslayers were designed at a point they were still experimenting with CAD, so there's some duplicated elements across infantry and hero models including weapons and helmets that adds to the confusion. The only different between a Doomseeker hero and Vulkite is that a Doomseeker has more runes in their skin, the helmet and axe are in the vulkite kit (I think the war pick might be unique?). The battlesmith has the same two dragon helmet as one of the vulkite heads and I think the Grimwrath has a Hearthguard helmet iirc. So the duplicated elements and everything being 32mm in a similar pose and outfit really doesn't help glance value.
  23. I mean, I would stop complaining if they got 4 new units. I would stop complaining if they got one new (non-hero) unit. My complaint is that, like some other early AoS armies such as Ironjawz, GW hasn't expanded on them except for heroes and spells. Unlike Ironjawz, they can't make up for their lack of options by using other Orruks. Fyreslayers have 12 hero options (not counting Fjul-Grimnir or Gotrek) and only 3 unit options (all infantry with the same silhouette, armor, and similar weapons). Adding some small drakes, golem, cannon, or anything would help break up the sea of 32mm bases of nudist dwarves with the same head and loincloth.
  24. If I remember correctly one of the novels has the next Heir of a major lodge be a woman since all the male heirs died or were incompetent. I think it was Bael-Grimnir's daughter who is next in line in succession? It's been forever since I read it though. It's portrayed as a really big deal because succession in Fyreslayer culture is almost always patrilinial, and it's breaking tradition to choose her. Meanwhile the KO think that's stupid and anyone dwarf can captain a ship or serve in government. Seriously GW, release one female dwarf model so KO and Fyreslayers can convert their own characters. I don't care if it's a Chaos Dwarf I own files and greenstuff. Edit: As far as I can tell, the last female dwarf model GW has made is Helgar Longplaints back in 1996.
  25. Most of the changes I think aren't a big deal and won't fix anything, but I think the Dankhold Troggoth price reduction is pretty nice. It brings them closer to rockguts in cost and makes it a bit more of a choice; do I want the better Rockguts whose effectiveness degrades as models are removed, or the Dankhold who doesn't degrade when injured. I think the Rockguts are still better, but the gap has closed a bit. The Troggboss getting 10 points off isn't going to do much I feel.
