  1. You will need to get a lot out of the Grimghast unit. 30 Grim ghasts have a huge footprint so be aware that they are easily tagged and can be stuck into combats that you don't want to be. I think games where ou are able to move and get teh Grimghasts where they need to be, you will do well.
  2. What do people think about Grave guard compared to Banshess? The new horde discount for Grave Guard seem to make them a solid option. They are slow but they seem like a good option. Do people have any insight? Is there any way for Legion of Grief to increase their roll to wound?
  3. Yeah I think that the BC can also be a decent tarpit and distraction carnifex. Overall it may be like 10-20 points overcosted but it does have great movement. GW is weird with how they point movement. Some units in the game are grossly overcosted or undercosted when you take in their movement, but that being said, the BC seems good enough to fill a certain role in the army. I really think if the Hexwraiths had Reaped Like Corn they would be much more playable. I do think you want the extra CP and artefact in a Nighthaunt army so going MSU Deathriders isnt a terrible idea for MSU lists. Not OP but it gives you fast units on the board turn 1.
  4. Thanks for the insight. I think I will still try the Deathriders battalion. Although Hexwraiths are still overcosted, and for some reason don't have Reaped Like Corn, I think it's a solid battalion. It uses units that don't mind being on the board turn 1 and gets you 2 battleline and an extra artefact. Shroudguard can be super cheap which is nice, but if you go MSU the +5 shrug on the 5 man unit isn't worth much. A BC can fish for 9inch charges and it can put out some hurt in the charge phase. The Hexwraiths really need reroll to hits support to do anything other than their fly over mortals, but they cant hunt down some wizards and weaker units.
  5. Damn I played my last few games very wrong... Unless you go 2 Battalions MSU style is very heavy drops.
  6. So does it still count towards your drops? I guess you are still deploying them, just not on the table. So it most likely follows the normal rules... opps.
  7. I think Battalions are huge for NH. As dmorley noted Command points and NH artefacts are so good for the army. The other big thing is that it allows us to keep lower drops and still run MSU. Take Deathriders as an example. You get 4 units placed down for 1 drop. This then allows you to put 4 in the Underworld. It's really 8 units into 1 drop. That's huge. I also like Deathriders for this because it uses units that want to be on the board turn 1 (i.e Blackcoach and Harrow). Then it lets you protect your Bladegheists/MSU units in the Underworld. I think Hexwraiths are still too expensive but this battalion seems to fit what the MSU army lits are trying to do.
  8. Any ideas on how to cut down or reshape the old woods to mirror what the new ones are like? I'd rather they look a little weird then buy 9 new ones.
  9. IMO I don't think the Grimghast reapers are as good in MSU lists as 5xBladegheists. 10xGrimghast melt pretty easily and are 4+ to hit. I think the real benefit of Deathriders is that it allows you to kepp your drops low and to start units on the board that are fast. The big benefit is you get to increase your total MSU count by putting 4x5 Bladegheists in the underworld and without increasing your drops. That's how I plan on runnning my 2k list, without the shroudguard. Those points then free you up for Lady O or Kurdoss for another threat/magic/monster killer.
  10. With KoS dropping I think it opens up double Shroudguard lists. I actually think because the battalion is only 110 it could be the core of a competitive list. Anyone have any cool ideas on how to finish out a list starting with the below: Knight of Shrouds on Steed Knight of Shrouds on Steed 5x Bladegheist 5x Bladegheist 5x Bladegheist 5x Bladegheist 2x Chainghast 2xShroudguard 890/2000 I'd probably say Reikenor and Cogs are next.
  11. Sorry I know this was previously discussed but I'm looking into playing nighthaunt and legion of grief. Is it 100% you cant use the Nighthaunt battalions in Legion of Grief? Are there any arguements for being allowed to use them?
  12. TY! I could see him going up a few points if he is included in the Gloomspite FAQ. He is pretty damn strong at 90.
  13. Sorry, newbie here, how can we ally in Fungoid? I thought it was only Troggoths?
  14. Do you guys have any cool ideas for Meeting Engagement list? Grots seem like a good choice for the minimum unit size because they come with 20. Anyone cooking up some lists?
  15. How do people feel about Tree Revenants? I feel like 160 points for 2 batteline requirements that can teleport and somewhat reliably threaten weak casters or backfield units is great. In my head, 30 Dyrads for defense and 2x5 Tree Revenants seems good for a more defensive list, possibly with Alarielle. It gives you a strong chaff unit and then some backfield mobility/late game objective grabbers. My biggest issue is that they do not fit into a battalion. I really wish they did. I've been struggling super hard when writing lists, especially ones with Alarielle, to find a battalion that works. In the end I'm going to try going without one, but not getting the 2nd artefact seems huge. Anyone have any thoughts on Tree Revenants and the somewhat related topic of no battalion lists?
  16. That's a true. In my head I thought what Mirage said was very powerful. I was hoping to use the Gnarlroot artefact on the Wraith for summoning and then guarantee the D6 heal from the TLA who is my general, that way you're 100% guaranteed the D6 + D3 healing. Maybe something like this could be a starting point. I'd worry about body count but depending onthe game you could summon in 20 more dyrads plus fairly reliable summoning from Wraith. It uses the models i have except for the Revenants. Any CC? LEADERS Alarielle the Everqueen (660) Spirit of Durthu (340) Treelord Ancient (300) Branchwraith (80) UNITS 5 x Spite-Revenants (60) 5 x Spite-Revenants (60) 5 x Spite-Revenants (60) 20 x Dryads (200) BATTALIONS Outcasts (100) ENDLESS SPELLS / TERRAIN Chronomantic Cogs (60) Geminids of Uhl-Gysh (40) Either Worm or Tree ES (30/40)
  17. I'm looking to add my army and build out a solid 2k Alarielle list. The one problem I keep running into is getting the 2nd artefact. I want to try out Gnarlroot and I really like the idea of a TLA for support with the Vesperal Gem. Does anyone have any suggestions of what battalion fits well? Alarielle makes me want multiwound units so I was hoping to have some points for 3-6 hunters. Forest Folk seems expensive but I wasn't sure if I ran a minimum Outcasts battalion if it would be worth it. I wish there was a few more options with Battalions because it's making it hard to get that extra Artefact.
  18. Do you have a link to the Wyldwood spoilers? In the articles I've seen I haven't seen the new warscroll.
  19. I'll be interested to see if we can make the old tree models work as well. I bought a cheap army on eBay and it include the older wyldwoods. I'm crossing my fingers.
  20. As someone new to this army this is going to take a little to get to use to. So in your example, "Wyldwoods must be 1" from the center of objectives, " they are specifically refering to the actual terrain piece, not the board area that is considered to be the Wyldwood? So you can put a Wyldwood on an objective (after the 1st) as long as the 3 terrain pieces are spaced out around it?
  21. So it has been confirmed that no Woods can placed on objectives? I thought it was just the first one that had to be away from objectives.
  22. Thanks for the info. I'm new to the army in my head I was thinking it would be important to try and get some woods around objectives so it would make difficult for the Bows to shoot off enemies from objectives.
  23. With improvements to the swords and melee buffs from the Glades, do you think Bow Hunters have a place? I liked the idea of using them in a more defensive Alarielle list but it seems difficult to deal with the LoS issue. The swords also bring some MWs to the table which are always good.
  24. I think going from 5 to 7 to cast her spell is a huge nerf. natural 7 is not that reliable and the only way to buff her spellcasting is bystanding still and casting antoher spell...
