  1. He typically runs 3 units of Hellstriders and all units within 6” of the banner bearer get a -1 to hit and it stacks. Chaos Knights, Hellstriders, Keeper of Secrets mostly. -1 to -2 and they hurt on the charge. Actually I know the list he used last time. He said he’s changing it some but it’s mostly been variant iterations of the same thing. Also he has a Warlord Trait on the KoS that gives him -1 to hit and usually take Gryph Feather Charm for another -1 to hit. His list is usually something along the lines of this: Allegiance: Slaanesh- Host: SeekersMortal Realm: GhurLeadersKeeper Of Secrets (260)- General- Trait: Allure of Slaanesh - Artefact: Gryph-feather Charm Keeper Of Secrets (260)Lord Of Slaanesh On Daemonic Mount(140)Herald Of Slaanesh on Exalted Seeker Chariot (160)Battleline40 x Chaos Marauders (200)- Axes & Shields40 x Chaos Marauders (200)- Axes & Shields5 x Hellstriders Of Slaanesh (100)- Claw spear & Shield5 x Hellstriders Of Slaanesh (100)- Claw spear & Shield5 x Hellstriders Of Slaanesh (100)- Claw spear & ShieldUnits1 x Chaos Warshrine (160)5 x Chaos Knights (160)- Chaos Glaives5 x Chaos Knights (160)- Chaos GlaivesTotal: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 188 I don’t know all the nitty gritty details about everything but that’s about the sum of it more or less.
  2. Does anyone know the GT list that got 12th place? I’m curious to see what it was. Edit: Also how would you go about beating Slaneesh with their high rend and multiple minus to hit sources? What sort of army would you build to counter Slaneesh? Sadly I don’t have any demons except SKARBRAND & a Bloodthirster with the 2 handed axe.
  3. OH I WILL FIND A WAY TO SQUEEZE IT IN BEST BELIEVE
  4. 1200 points isn’t stopping me.... it’s the 586$ price point.... never the less I shall save over the months and get him because at this point I am contractually required to own all things Khorne I guess.
  5. Actually my maths was off anyway. Arkhan has an innate +2 at full HP, +1 from Legion of Sacrament, +1 for Mortis Engine and +1 for Corpse Cart which means +5 for him and +3 for regular casters (VL, Necromancer). Although, I doubt I will be using a Corpse Cart. What's better for list #1, Corpse Cart or Balewind Vortex: Allegiance: Legion of Sacrament Mortal Realm: Ulgu Leaders Arkhan The Black Mortarch of Sacrament (320) - General - Lore of the Dead: Soul Harvest (Deathmages) Vampire Lord (140) - Mount: Flying Horror - Artefact: Azyrbane Standard - Lore of the Vampires: Vile Transference Necromancer (110) - Lore of the Deathmages: Decrepify Wight King with Baleful Tomb Blade (120) - Mount: Steed Battleline 40 x Skeleton Warriors (280) - Ancient Blades 10 x Skeleton Warriors (80) - Ancient Blades 10 x Skeleton Warriors (80) - Ancient Blades Units 20 x Grave Guard (320) - Great Wight Blades 10 x Black Knights (240) Battalions Deathmarch (160) Endless Spells Chronomantic Cogs (60) Balewind Vortex (40) Total: 1950 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 2 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 126 Also which list is better overall? List 1 attempts to correct the problem with Skeletons, by making them faster. List #2 is to focus down on just pure casting. Absolutely magic focused, but I've heard it has big weaknesses against some lists... Really just trying to pad out bodies with what I have to protect my magical boys so they can do the casting thing as effectively as possible. i guess my main offensive is magic, instead of attacks with this one? Allegiance: Legion of Sacrament Mortal Realm: Ulgu Leaders Arkhan The Black Mortarch of Sacrament (320) - General - Lore of the Dead: Soul Harvest (Deathmages) Vampire Lord (140) - Mount: Flying Horror - Artefact: Azyrbane Standard - Lore of the Vampires: Vile Transference Necromancer (110) - Lore of the Deathmages: Decrepify Necromancer (110) - Lore of the Deathmages: Overwhelming Dread Battleline 40 x Skeleton Warriors (280) - Ancient Blades 20 x Skeleton Warriors (160) - Ancient Blades 5 x Dire Wolves (60) 5 x Dire Wolves (60) Units 20 x Grave Guard (320) - Great Wight Blades Behemoths Mortis Engine (180) Battalions Lords of Sacrament (130) Endless Spells Purple Sun of Shyish (100) Soulsnare Shackles (20) Total: 1990 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 138
  6. So it’s always versus end result? For example: I’m Arkhan, I’m casting Curse of Years. I’m within 12” of my Mortis Engine and within 18” of my Corpse Cart. In total I have +4 to my casting. I roll a natural 9 on the dice bringing my final result to 13. Even if your unbinding roll is 10 on the dice my spell goes through? In fact, there’s literally no possible way to unbind it unless you happen to be a Dwarf Runepriest (who also have +2 to unbind) and roll a natural 12 to exceed me with a 14, correct?
  7. How does unbinding spells work? Someone told me it was dice face value vs dice face value, and pluses to casting only help increase your odds of getting the spell off if you roll low, but unbinding pluses add to your face value to help you unbind better.
  8. Well what’s the issue with a Lord Celestant on Dracoth? Just curious. Also what’s the issue with Vandus and why would I lose more often than not as opposed to this list? What’s the big difference maker? I don’t know anything about Stormcast but I like your list because it runs all the models I like (Prosecutors, Retributors, Judicators, Liberators etc...)
  9. So basically anyone can use Command ABILITIES so long as you’ve got the command POINTS to use them. Command TRAITS are the passive benefits your general gains that give usually an aura of something, or an extra attack, or a re-roll commonly. Back in AoS 1 your general was the only character, barring special exceptions, that could use a command ABILITY. So you were right. List #1 gives me free form to pick my own Command TRAIT for my general and my choice of 1 free artifact. List #2 requires me to be Hammers of Sigmar chamber (to use Vandus Hammerhand as I understand it because he’s not generic) and therefore locks me into a very specific command TRAIT as well as artifact. At the end of the day since it’s all the same modes anyway I’ll try both because they both seem fun. Except I have no idea how to win..... any games ever. Any games where the objectives are middle of the map (example being Battle for the Pass or Shifting Objectives) I for sure won’t beat my opponent there cuz I’m slow and I for sure won’t have more people than them unless I group every single dude onto 1 point. I mean most Chaos bros I fight bring 40 Bloodreavers/STD Marauders and that’s more models than my whole army plus whatever else they’ve got. How do I grab objectives with so few boys?
  10. I did both haha. Also Black Knights can get 100 attacks without Vanhel’s Danse Macabre. 2 base for lance +1 Lord of Nagashizzar, +1 Wight King, +1 Vampire Lord is 5 attacks. Taking 10 Black Knights is 50 attacks, then the same applies to Horses Hooves and Teeth. If you Vanhel’s and nobody dies because they activate elsewhere or you get lucky saves you get another 100. Or it’s 100 total (25L + 25HHT x 2 VHD) if you run 5 and nobody dies before your second activation. Granted this is like a twice a game occurrence. I start with 2 CP and go big first turn. Next turn if I’m forced to Endless Legions something I’m getting base attacks plus +1 for whoever is near my general. Then it’s a matter of stockpiling CP to do it again.
  11. 2 x 10 is 20 + 1 Vampire Lord, +1 Wight King, +1 Lord of Nagashizzar = 5 attacks each for 50 attacks. They were under the effects of Vanhel’s Danse Macbre. None of them were targeted or died due to combat priority. 50 x 2 fights = 100 attacks.
  12. Like this? Also I can’t fit Vandus and a Castellant.
  13. Is this ok for baby’s first SCE list? Just to use models I love the look of, and I already have some of the heroes due to having assembled them when I got the first starter box for the Khorne half back in AoS 1. Everyone’s explained how Retributors aren’t good and stuff but they look sweet and I’m not a tournament player. Is this ok for casual GW shop pick up games? TBH I heard it on legends of the painty men and I liked it purely because it used all the models with my favorite aesthetic and seemed competent. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due I didn’t make up this list but I wondered if it was a good list to buy towards since I only have 2 heroes so far. Allegiance: Stormcast EternalsLeadersLord-Celestant On Dracoth (220)- General- Tempestos Hammer & Thundershield- Trait: Staunch Defender - Mount Trait: Keen-clawedLord-Relictor (100)- Prayer: Bless WeaponsLord-Castellant (100)- Artefact: Mirrorshield Battleline10 x Liberators (200)- Warblade & Shield- 2x Grandblades5 x Judicators (160)- Skybolt Bows- 1x Shockbolt BowsUnits5 x Retributors (220)Total: 1000 / 1000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 63
  14. I just got my Prince Vhordrai and I can’t wait to use him alongside Neferata. I may run the same list as my other LoN list and sub Mannfred for Neferata.
  15. Sometimes I put out fishing lures of something I hope would be a thing to see if anyone has any related rumours or news regarding it. Sometimes there are some nice rumours and news, but many times not. Although I asked about BOC last year and someone said it was a toss up between STD(Darkoath) and BoC and it became BoC, so asking if anyone had news turned into rumours provided turned into real life fact.
  16. I appreciate the run down. At the end of the day, I know Retributors are over coated, but they just look insanely cool and they remind me of retribution Paladins from WoW, especially with the Ashbringer hidden weapon effect that can trigger to instantly turn a demon or undead to dust. It’s so cool. I just love the Retributors image. Basically the same holds true for Prosecutors, even if they aren’t amazing, they’re probably not absolutely worthless and look cool enough to field. Plus if all else fails they can stay in the back line and harass with crappy shooting haha. Those are a lot of hero choices! So far my eye was drawn to Lord Celestant on foot for +1 to hit rolls, which is really powerful, considering I play armies that do and don’t have it, and I always wish I did have it. Lord Castellant for +1 to save (old mystic shield yeet!) and the ability to heal on 7+ (which would be a natural roll of 6 with the +1 yes?) to make Sequitors even more Tanky when choosing to re-roll saves. Lord Arcanum on foot due to knowing magic, his -1 to hit Thunderclap ability, and the ability heal slain models to 1 HP. Lord Relictor, again for the -1 to hit Ability, prayer access (Slaugherpriests are such force multipliers I can only assume so would Stormcast priests) and the ability to heal when needed (free crimson rain! Yay!) I liked the looks of the Knight-Heraldor for the ability to run and charge which is always handy! Especially for slow units. I’m not completely familiar with the other heroes but these seemed to have a nice synergy going with buffs, debuffs, healing and so forth. I can completely hold down the front line by making my saves better, their hits worse and then boost my elite hammer units to smash face in. (Retributors? Whatever is the go-to smash them super hard units in SCE, like Skullreapers for Khorne and Brutes for Ironjawz the other armies I play) Then if anyone is hurt or dies they can come back and be healed. Allegedly. Theoretically on paper. So I guess my idea was for the Evocators to buff either themselves with their prayer or Sequitors, use Sequitors to tank punishment and absorb charges, and hit the enemy hard and fast with Retributors and Prosecutors. If Retributors are terrible, how are Decimators or Protectors? I think sword & board looks best on regular footmen, but I really enjoy mighty two handed axes or hammers overall. Probably because I’ve been playing Orcs in Warcraft for so long and World Eaters & Khorne in general who always wield chain axes and other axes but giant 2 handed hammers are also iconic from the Alliance in Warcraft, especially retribution Paladins. Decimators look and seem awesome too though.
  17. Oh it was the 1d4chan tactics page. So it’s pretty bad now I suppose? Well that’s alright. Once I get the Stormcast book I can see if anything looks nice to work from.
  18. Ah I was thinking of running something like this: Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals- Stormhost: Hallowed KnightsLeadersGavriel Sureheart (100)Lord-Arcanum (180)- GeneralLord-Celestant (100)Lord-Relictor (100)Knight-Heraldor (100)Battleline5 x Liberators (100)- Warblade & Shield5 x Liberators (100)- Warblade & Shield10 x Sequitors (240)- Tempest Blades and SoulshieldsUnits5 x Evocators (200)6 x Prosecutors with Celestial Hammers (200)5 x Retributors (220)5 x Retributors (220)BattalionsHammerstrike Force (120)Total: 1980 / 2000Extra Command Points: 1Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 123 It says you can hammerstrike any time during the movement phase so I could do it, then run and charge at the same time with the Knight-Heraldor’s ability and use Gavriel to give them +3 to charge. So I could throw my Prosecutors and Retributors forward as a hard hitting hammer and use my Sequitors and Liberators to secure objectives with hero support. Between the Arcanum guy and the Lord Relictor I can give either 2 enemy units a -1 to hit me or one unit a -2 to be able to hit me which seem pretty good. Also apparently Evocators and Sequitors work well together and buff each other. Since I don’t really play SCE and I mostly just want to collect the models I enjoy the aesthetic of and paint them, because they look fun to paint more than anything, I figured I would just try to make the best out of the models I like.
  19. The flying hammer guys and dudes with huge hammers are bad? What happened to them? Didn’t they used to be pretty good?
  20. I want to start a Stormcast army but there’s a lot of information to dig through so I thought I would ask here first. i want to build a casual, but functional, army of models that I like the look of. This list looks something like this: the guys on the giant dragon (the 140$ box or whatever) liberators with sword and shield and/or Sequitors with sword and shield. Judicators with large bows. Retributors with big hammers. Prosecutors with double hammers or big hammers. Evocators. Which heroes and Stormcast chamber best reflect these models? I guess I’m looking for the best equivalent of Black Templars from 40k, insane zealots that rush headlong into combat and super murder everything in glorious melee combat purging the Xenos, Heretic and Witch. Are the above units still good? Is there an army somewhere in those models? What would be their best playstyle? How can I turn my cool looking model collection into a moderately ok table top army that won’t lose every single game ever?
  21. It doesn’t fit the fluff at all. Have you read the Ironjawz Battletome or know anything about them? They’re a special kind of super Orruk formed from the Age of Chaos, spending eons doing nothing but fighting and getting bigga and stronga dan anyone else in da realms! Dey’s da biggest and da best! That’s why they’re an elite army. They’re literally better than all the other Orks and there aren’t that many of them comparatively. Ardboys are literally regular Orruk hanger-on wannabe’s that are regular Orks who do super crazy stuff to prove how brutal, metal and tough they are so they’ll get recognition and approval from actual Ironjawz. Regular greenskins are completely different. Ironjawz are not a Horde army fantasy, they’re the best of the best fantasy. Greenskins are Horde, Ironjawz are elite. Ironjawz are an army of all Warbosses and their warbosses are called mega bosses.
  22. I think there’s a long enough history of Orruks to completely differentiate them from being rip-off Tolkien Orcs. Not to mention Warhammer literally made up green Orcs. They’re literally iconic. Yes, Warcraft ripped it off, but it remains a fact that Warhammer Orks are pretty iconic for the way they speak, the fact they’re green, and their overall culture. I would hope there’s a safe place for Greenskinz in the company that invented greenskinz in the first place. Moonclan would be it’s own Battletome. Spiderfang Grots would be like mini BCRs but with grot flair for self harming funny shenanigans. There should remain regular green skins and Grots in a combined Battletome that’s just a soup of anything that doesn’t belong to Bonesplittaz, Ironjawz, Moonclan or Spiderfang. I think there’s something to be said for “generic” fantasy races, even if Tolkien did it first. That’s because it’s familiar and “safe.” Some people don’t want Sky Dwarves or red Mohawk naked Dwarves, they just want regular old cool Dwarves and they don’t want to play a completely different game to get that experience. Then Ironjawz and Bonesplittaz are already their own thing and they make sense too.
  23. I think Orcs and Goblins should be split into 4 Battletomes. Moonclan Grots, Spiderfang Grots like a BCR Calvary everyone is mounted style grot army, Regular Orks and Goblins as a more general faction with a little of everything, then we already have Bonesplittaz and Ironjawz. I think it would work out properly with proper model support and Battletome support.
  24. I want to like LoN but I just can’t really figure out how to use it. Most battleplans don’t seem to really make use of “The Bait” rule as the opponent has no incentive to want or need to go into your territory, and generally most battleplans have objectives in the middle. Therefore when ambushing it will be difficult to get a charge as most of the fighting will be i the center of the map (more often than not, exceptions do exist) and the units arriving will not have any buffs and will not be able to be buffed until your next hero phase. The restrictive nature of wholly within 6” of a board edge and more than 9” from an enemy, plus the typical objective placement, plus nobody ever really needing to go into your territory the majority of the time always leaves me feeling like I would be better off playing LoS of GHoN for the more universally beneficial battle traits. I do, however, have at least 2 LoN lists I hope to practice with but they seem better off just charging turn 1 up the board than ambushing or anything. I also have the same problem with summoning from the grave.
