  1. I believe @Heijoshin is referring to Ben Savva's lists from the Essex GT and the recent Rage of Sigmar event. Both can be found here: https://thehonestwargamer.com/aos-list-rundowns/benjamin-savva-legion-of-grief-rage-of-sigmar-2nd-place/ https://thehonestwargamer.com/aos-list-rundowns/ben-savva-legion-of-grief/
  2. Yes, deploying to the Underworlds still counts as a drop
  3. @daviseford Hmm yeah you might have the old battletome, Khorne got a new one back in March. As examples, I noticed Korghos Khul is missing, as well as the Slaughterhost traits and the Exalted Deathbringer information is using his old warscroll
  4. Yay! Thanks @daviseford, was waiting for this one 😄
  5. Oh yeah, the logical side of my brain agrees with you. Its just that little skeptical voice in the back of my head saying "wait a minute...". Regardless, I still think it's bad optics, but what can you do.
  6. To be fair, I don't think anyone in this thread planned on actually paying for Acolytes at this point lol. I also don't think this is a revelation to anyone in this thread/hobby. But just speaking for myself, I wouldn't have chimed in to this thread at all if they had done what they did with the SC and paint price hike. You just feel more respected as a customer y'know? Helps obfuscate the truth of the relationship a bit. Similarly, I'm not one for conspiracy theories but the Bloodthirster price hike and corresponding points drop is also a bad look. Certainly encourages looking at buying elsewhere, if just on principle, which personally I wouldn't have considered if there was a heads up message.
  7. Sorry, I was referring to this article: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/01/04/a-quick-heads-up/ , not the more recent leak to LGS'.
  8. My thing is about the communication, it's a negative experience when stuff like this just pops up with no warning. Especially since they actually gave a heads up for a price increase not too long ago.
  9. Yeah in general I agree, the NH battalions just feel so soft sometimes. I think I'm learning that my personal play style is more suited for a LoN grind/attrition strategy versus how NH is developing. The kind of NH list I would want to play would be something like: Allegiance: NighthauntMortal Realm: HyshDreadblade Harrow (90)- General- Trait: Ruler of the Spirit Hosts Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140)- Artefact: Midnight Tome - Lore of the Underworlds: Soul CageKnight of Shrouds (100)Reikenor the Grimhailer (170)- Lore of the Underworlds: LifestealerSpirit Torment (120)- Artefact: Pendant of the Fell Wind 10 x Chainrasp Horde (80)10 x Chainrasp Horde (80)20 x Grimghast Reapers (320)20 x Grimghast Reapers (320)5 x Bladegheist Revenants (90)5 x Bladegheist Revenants (90)2 x Chainghasts (70)Shroudguard (110)Chronomantic Cogs (80)Soulsnare Shackles (40)Purple Sun of Shyish (50)Total: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 2Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 101 But I feel that it just doesn't hold up in this meta.
  10. Just finished catching up on the Honest Wargamer faction reactions and July FAQ breakdown and trying to suss out where to go next with Nighthaunt. AKA making the best of a blah situation haha. They really drilled in that FEC, Slaanesh, IDK, and Skaven will beat almost anything they face in combat, and I don't disagree. Grimghasts get dismantled easily by -1 to hit and being forced to fight last and I don't think anything we have can really stand up to them. Since we can't stand toe to toe in the combat phase, what strategies should we be looking at to win games? The Nighthaunt faction reaction with Ash went over how we can lean in to MSUs, mobility, and Wave of Terror with the Deathriders battalion. With that in mind, would a list that incorporates these aspects look something like this? Is the strategy to "hit and run" while trying to capture objectives all over the board? Full disclosure I haven't really gone over the new battleplans and how their changes will impact our playstyle. Allegiance: NighthauntMortal Realm: UlguDreadblade Harrow (90)- General- Trait: Ruler of the Spirit Hosts - Artefact: Pendant of the Fell Wind Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140)- Lore of the Underworlds: Soul Cage- Infernal Lantern (Artefact): Wychlight LanternReikenor the Grimhailer (170)Knight of Shrouds (100)- Artefact: Sword of Judgement 10 x Grimghast Reapers (160)10 x Grimghast Reapers (160)5 x Hexwraiths (140)5 x Hexwraiths (140)5 x Bladegheist Revenants (90)5 x Bladegheist Revenants (90)2 x Chainghasts (70)Black Coach (260)Deathriders (130)Shroudguard (110)Chronomantic Cogs (80)Purple Sun of Shyish (50)Suffocating Gravetide (20)Total: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 2Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 88 I feel like this list tries to incorporate the best of MSUs and mobility. My issue is it just looks so flimsy on paper, but I could be wrong. Random thoughts: Soul Cage is the only real way we can hang in the activation game, and even though it pales in comparison to what the other armies are bringing, the +1 cast artefact at least improves its reliability. Gravetide and Purple Sun were just tossed in to fill the points, could easily take Malevolent Malestrom or another CP. One thing about Purple Sun and Suffocating Gravetide is they have a huge footprint and could be used more as obstacles instead of their actual effects. Another alternative would be to swap the Chainghasts and 50 points of Endless Spells to bring a Spirit Torment. Both Chainghasts and Spirit Torment would be supporting the Bladegheists. Dreadblade Harrow hangs with the Hexwraiths with high movement, Knight of Shrouds hangs with the Bladegheists and Spirit Torment/Chainghasts (likely deployed in the underworld), Guardian of Souls hangs with the Grimghasts, Reikenor and Black Coach roam individually. Sword of Judgment on the KoS is just a cheeky thing I threw in to maybe do some damage to a GKoTG or Keeper of Secrets, but I doubt that's worth it and would be interested to here other suggestions.
  11. Uhhhhh *looks at Bloodreavers, Blood Warriors, Mighty Bloodcrushers, Mighty Lord of Khorne (mounted and foot), Bloodsecrator, 3 flavours of Deathbringers, Slaughterpriest, Skullgrinder, Bloodstoker, Skullreapers, Wrathmongers, Skarr Bloodwrath, Valkia the Bloody, Curseling, Magister, Fatemaster, Ogroid Thaumaturge, Kairic Acolytes, Blightkings, Glottkin, Orghotts Daemonspew, Bloab Rotspawned, Morbidex Twiceborn, Lord of Afflictions, Festus the Leechlord, Harbinger of Decay, Sorcerer, Lord of Blights, Gutrot Spume, Lord of Plagues, Pusgoyle Blightlords*
  12. Toss my hat in the pile of "super bummed Slaanesh didn't get its own mortals". Such a great design space left empty. For rumors, did anyone else notice this? Why do they specify CHAOS Slaanesh models? I don't think the other Chaos god tomes ever make that distinction (correct me if I'm wrong!). A hint at the next elf release having ORDER Slaanesh?
  13. That's sadly incorrect and was clarified in the Malign Sorcery FAQ from December 2018: Edit: This is largely why Purple Sun isn't considered competitively viable, each model only has a 16.67% chance of being slain or taking damage.
  14. Purple Sun only goes off if you roll a 6 for the unit affected. If I'm reading this right you threw the Purple Sun at Morathi, Cauldron, and another hero and rolled a 6 for each of them? That's some bonkers luck!
  15. Would be nice if they just made it "...if any enemy models were slain by this unit's attacks in that phase...". Removes the chance of misinterpretation! You know what they say about assumptions Likewise! Korghos Khul's Command Ability is technically useless until they update his warscroll.
  16. Blades of Khorne Battletome, Page 70, Slaughterhosts: "...If you choose one from the below, all units with that keyword benefit from the extra abilities listed for that Slaughterhost on the page indicated." Core Rules, Page 3, Command Abilities: "If you have any HEROES in your army, you can use command abilities" Hope that explains it!
  17. Yup, the run and charge command ability granted by the Goretide Slaughterhost is given to all heroes in your army.
  18. Yeah, so Khul doesn't receive the special Command Trait (Hew the Foe: +1 Damage to general's melee weapons) from being the general of a Goretide Slaughterhost army. The trade off is that if he is your general, you're allowed to use his Warscroll Command Ability (Lord of the Goretide: Re-roll hit rolls of 1 for GORETIDE units wholly within 16").
  19. @Louzi Oh no, I'm saying it's well worth it to use Khul in a Goretide Slaughterhost, you just need to make sure he's your general to use his Warscroll Command Ability (Lord of the Goretide). The typo I'm referring to is that Lord of the Goretide says you have to use it at the start of the charge phase, but it gives re-roll hits of 1 for that phase only. And Khorne doesn't fight in the charge phase. I believe GW copy and pasted the command ability from the Mighty Lord of Khorne (Gorelord), which does work in the charge phase.
  20. Keep in mind that Khul's warscroll command ability requires him being your general (and has a typo!)
  21. There's something deliciously Slaanesh-y about them specifically previewing the Idoneth urns on a Slaanesh terrain piece when they knew we'd argue that it'd be Idoneth endless spells.
  22. Gotta say I'm a big fan of army specific terrain pieces. I always feel like I have to prioritize getting models first before terrain, just so I can actually play with an army. Having faction specific terrain kills two birds with one stone by giving me more rules and filling up my table. I really wish Nighthaunt/LON had one, at first I thought the skeleton bridge from Forbidden Powers would be it! From a narrative perspective, I firmly believe there's always a way to make these pieces fit the story too. Is it such a stretch that 80 ghouls cobbled together a throne quickly before a fight? The Khorne battletome gives an awesome excerpt of how a Slaughterpriest summons the Skull Altar in the heat of a battle. The only limit is your imagination! To stay on topic, this is my first time being in the hobby for Adepticon, will there be more announcements coming out? Not complaining about what we've got already, just wondering if I should give my F5 key a break.
  23. Correct, Core Rules say you can't re-roll a re-roll.
  24. Competitively I think you wind up sticking to one or the other, just to exploit as many synergies as possible. Pretty much every daemon hero looks to help daemon units across all the Chaos gods. Daemon battleline usually have a "Locus of X" ability that triggers off of having a nearby Daemon hero. I don't play any of these armies but at a high level, Nurgle tends to have mortal battleline with Daemon heroes (Blightkings and GUOs), Slaanesh doesn't really have mortals outside of marked StD units, and Tzeentch is probably the one that mixes and matches the most. Tzaangors aren't daemons but are often included with horrors and Lords of Change. I think people aren't fans of Kairic Acolytes these days but someone more familiar with the army can probably speak to that more.
