  1. I wasn't active in old fantasy nor was I keeping up with AoS 1 really so I don't doubt the vitriol people accuse some Oldhammer players of spreading when AoS was young, but the whole "I'm glad your entire army/money/painting/time is going down the drain because it better fits my idea of what AoS SHOULD look like!" (Exaggerated for effect) seems like exactly the kind of gatekeeping attitude that is so derided of Oldhammer fans. Then someone mentioned how beasts of chaos COULD get trash canned as well (no offense to the individual) and if GW thinks I'm going to be a good little consumer and buy buy buy the latest shiny new toy after they invalidate BOTH my armies than they can [insert something that would definitely break community guidelines] where the sun don't shine. Okay. I'm done venting on this topic. Back to positive TGA.
  2. On the topic of "at least it means they're likely to get new models." I spent my money already. I'm not looking to buy new overpriced models now and I can't get excited that I'm being told by GW that I have to. Guess I'll be happy for the people who are in better financial position to reap the benefits of "updated kits" but I'm sure GW will make sure that IF/when they replace them with kurnothi sculpts down the line like they did with lumineth they will ensure they do not have easy 1 for 1 proxies. If I'm not mistaken I found the removed wood elf line makes a decent line up of SBGL proxies so I can maybe play my dead models as dead models.
  3. Hard to feel like this move is "super wow pro player cool guy GW!" When my army is entirely models that are getting removed. They'll be fine proxies I suppose but I started this army when every army was getting their rules in the GHB and if they really were pro player they would have told us then which armies weren't actually going to be supported since they already knew...
  4. I don't understand at all. They raised the points on beasts of chaos spawn by 15 points, but nobody is taking spawn unless they're spamming the morghurite chaos spawn who are not the same thing and have their own separate points cost... I thought they gave up on 5 point changes because they knew they were pointless and yet that's most all of what beasts got? And most of them point increases to a faction that really isn't showing up competitively except to absolutely spam ungor raiders. Cockatrice points nerf after they already errata'd it to be unspammable means you're paying 120 points for a literal 50/50 chance at a debuff? Seems pointless but we always knew it'd get nerfed for the sin of being allied to better factions. All in all a very disheartening change for beasts. Goonhammer said it pretty well imo. Guess I like coherency and look out sir changes but with no fight in two ranks 32mm units are still severely hamstrung.
  5. Magic to make a skeleton horn make noise is much easier to understand than magic that somehow effects the position of 2 objects on a fixed axis relative to the rest of the world hah. Doooooooooooo.....
  6. Yeah but look where the weight is? The difference between that and WAAAAAAY up above him is a big one. I'm alone in thinking this is even stupider than the cow head helmets of the lumineth guys. Imagine you have to animate/write that thing fighting. Your options are: The ogor barely moves his body, and I mean barely, no waist movement what so ever which just does not mesh with ... well fighting. Or the man up top is just being flung around with all the grace and care of one of those little door stopper spring things you see on walls. It's not just "warhammer wacky" imo. It requires the same level of "idk magic" as skeletons moving without ligaments except that even if its magic anti grav wood it STILL would mean the guy at the top is getting shaken like a cat toy. It's just dumb to me.
  7. I'm sure if I were a more diehard skaven collector I'd have a stronger opinion about neglecting the other clans but as for Skryre there are also neat skaven in powersuit harnesses that are programmed to make them more strong/skilled in combat and prevent fleeing that Ikit Klaw made in the Hamilcar books that would make perfect AoS sculpts. In fact in the same book Ikit "Skavenified" the reforging process of stormcast while also being described as quite terrifying. Basically shrugging at the fact he was pissing off gods. He'd be an excellent cawl type model update imo.
  8. Man I wanna see the khorne builds doing so well. Every battle report I see for them looks... average at best. Edit: This wasn't a rhetorical statement. I meant I'd actually like to see the lists if anyone has them lol.
  9. Finally a wargame for me!* *and only me lol
  10. I thought the issue with the cart was that it could be taken over it's starting size by the heroic action but since the cart doesnt have "summonable" it's no longer a valid target for the effect.
  11. I'm cautiously and stupidly optimistic that beasts of chaos can be the bridge faction for TOW the way chaos daemons is between AoS/40k/HH but that's because I'm so desperate for any beast releases.
  12. I thought unreasonable battlefield grooming standards was a distinctly british officer speciality lol
  13. Face 10 Hair 0 Who designed those do's? The relic envoy is maybe blowing in the wind but the white guy marshal's head looks like he just rolled out of bed after slathering on a ton of pig grease the night before* *not a personal anecdote.
  14. Quick question about Arkhan the blacks spell range buff. Does it turn soul release into an 18" bubble of no deepstrike?
  15. Seems pretty safe to say that anyone who gets a new model can expect they're in the front half of the queue for a new book. Just because they sure do like to consolidate their warscrolls. I hope I'm wrong though because Beasts of Chaos could really use any new models and they definitely won't be getting a new book any time soon for obvious reasons.
  16. Hopefully a beasts of chaos team because they often provide wonderful conversion fodder but I don't know if bloodbowl even has specific beasts teams or not.
  17. @Dolomedes Thanks for the write up and congratulations on what sounds like some good games. Happy to hear enlightened + beastlord worked for you as I'm very eager to try mine. Sad to hear that about the bulls though. Have you considered dropping one group of spawn for something else? Tuskgor chariots are a nice 7 wound 4+ save screen (with their big bases) that also does suprising damage on the charge against 1-2 wound models. Can help with screens themselves.
  18. Even King Brodd forgot us between one post and the next and it was a double post! (This is a joke everyone)
  19. All the "chaos has enough warbands time to move on!" Just reminds beasts of chaos how forgotten we are T_T
  20. The particularly astute among you may have noticed it has been more than 4 days but I can finally present my battle ready painting contract! (only one month late hah). The doombull and a few gor as well as half of grashrak who's filling in as a third bray shaman were already painted. Maybe the cockatrice? Either way enjoy the photo dump!
  21. I'll definitely be paying attention to whether my axe bulls are over killing their targets and try it out. I appreciate the long and thought out replies. Edit: Just wanted to shamelessly plug my finally battle ready skullfray! https://www.tga.community/forums/topic/34704-the-painting-contract-april-2023/?do=findComment&comment=617330
  22. @Dolomedes I do get what you're saying and I certainly do want to try them but I wonder what I'm entering wrong because when I look at thekr averages in statshammer I am not getting the same averages. I can test out a few real world roll scenarios but that feels less scientific. If you're running them competitively then I have to trust they are working for you (I'm also on the 9 bulls train btw, I like the better potential for killing something on the charge combined with a doombull to charge again because they really need all the help they can get making their points back).
  23. I promise I don't just come here to poo poo on other peoples ideas like it seems lol Idk, the damage difference between shields and great axes is 7-9 wounds depending on the enemy save and that's not a negligible number. I'm really tempted to try shields and probably will because I'd love to have a 3+ save. Ultimately I dont feel they're strong enough to give up any killing power because for their cost in both points and list building they NEED to remove what they hit when they hit it. The real deciding factor for me is that my list already has enlightened who really need all out attack and Gor who really need all out attack (if you want to deal damage) so bullgor having the option to hit on 3's is worth more than just being +1 to hit imo. More and more I want to try to fit Grashrak into my lists for his spell. I might have to test it and get back.
  24. I haven't tested them so maybe its just a case of "mathhammer versus actual" but the damage output from 230 points of ungor raiders on average won't wipe a screen of 10 wounds with even a 6+ save with their hero phase shooting unless you also dedicate a warping curse and roll high enough. Yes they can shoot again in the shooting phase but by then the screen has already pushed out your ambushers. It feels like the blood taunt is "almost" always going to open the gap better without costing over 200 points. But again, maybe people in their games are just rolling better than averages.
