  1. Well Azyr had a free part of the app (warscrolls, core rules) and then the things you paid for (list builder, battletomes). The fact that this app also has all of the FAQ in one easy to access place would make paywalling the whole thing a really silly move. So yeah GW will probably do that. On the topic of the actual app, though I'm loathe to provide them free feedback so they can sell it back to me, coalition units in a Blades of Khorne army dont have any way to select a mark leaving them ineligible for artifacts. Also the app thinks 3 beast units is somehow more than (1 in 4) of 13. Not sure what the error there is.
  2. Ninjad by my own qoute XD lol But yeah there is a chance they paywall everything else and leave the warscrolls available (so just like Azyr) so I guess that's fine if we don't expect any increase in product for their increased profits, but I refuse to buy W+ for more than I paid for the azyr app just because they couldn't be bothered to actually make their subscription service appealing to customers.
  3. From the accompanying email. This all-new app is completely free while it's in beta, so you can use it to its fullest and help us make it even better. Once the beta period comes to an end, the app will become another awesome part of Warhammer+ along with Warhammer 40,000: The App, and loads more – another fantastic reason to subscribe to the ultimate Warhammer service. I for one don't intend to cross my picketline on W+ just because they paywall something that used to be free. In fact, they're basically ALLOWING us to be unpaid beta testers before they take it away and give it to the paying customers.
  4. It could be vampires but the last thing they need is another named single character vampire lord. My first thought was stormcast, but it does lack a lot of design queues. It actually kind of makes me think of dark souls and if it's the middle ground between Vampires and Stormcast (grim gothic human knights akin to Emelda from Cursed City) I would be very very interested.
  5. I just wanted to say that I wasn't being snarky. I literally was not advocating for piracy but expressing concern that these actions will lead to more piracy. Despite how critical I seem at times of GW I don't want them to fail.
  6. As a cities player who thought "huh those are neat maybe I'll swap out some fulminators for deakeguard" I dont intend to actually be able to buy them any time soon lol
  7. I'm not advocating piracy but it feels like GW is. Pushing people to small acts of piracy ("I just need this one warscroll for an ally") just makes it easier for them to decide "well I might as well just grab the whole book since its here, just in case I want to ally another unit..." As a Cities and Khorne player, both of which have robust coalition rules spread across multiple books, I can say I'm not happy about it one bit.
  8. I really like blood sacrifice and curse for my 2 slaughters. Yes curse is pretty short ranged and basically requires the enemy to have charged you last turn but the universal bless is really nice on my bullgors or even a ghorgon every now and then so he's never got nothing to do. As others have said blood bind is also very good. One of our only options for taking an objective off a mega gargant might be having them walk away from it.
  9. Today's article pretty much confirms beyond a shadow of a doubt that they're paywalling what azyr already let you do for free. It really annoys me that it says "you can now.." just gaslighting and pretending they're giving us something rather than taking something away. You can now keep track of rules and warscrolls for every unit in the game and build army rosters using Storm Forge on most mobile devices. You can try it out for free once the beta version goes live, so keep an eye out for more details later next week.
  10. I forgot he got a book prayer. Doesnt he have to give himself the khorne mark to be coalitioned in though? Anyway I finally finished 5 of my 30 *bloodreavers* proxy gors for my skullfray army. Pics hopefully incoming. Okay had some compression issues so heres an imgur link. http://imgur.com/a/QzBkxLo
  11. But the warshrine only benefits allied S2D units like the prince and maybe a chaos lord or something.
  12. This isn't a gotcha but a genuine question. What do you feel is the difference between what they did with LRL and Slaneesh and this move that you consider to be their "right to determine their business strategy".
  13. It's pointless to argue against your stance since as others pointed out it has no substance so I just have to ask. Is there ANY hypothetical move they can make that you would criticize and if so what is the minimum level of anti consumer behaviour that would actually cause you to dissent from your seeming blind fandom? Is there even a line they could cross with you?
  14. I'm a cities player but I just so happen to have 6 dracothian guard (2 fulminators/4 unbuilt) so I'm probably well on my way to having a dragon heavy stormkeep army with the 1 in 4 cities units to fill in gaps. What changed with them? The video I saw mentioned fulminators coming in units of 1 but not being battel line?
  15. I assume certain members of the forums will come out now against this decision and admit they were wrong about them not paywalling this stuff. *I want to be @'d if they're not there just because it's the NZ pre orders and they come up with the full pre orders, both because I'd be happy to be wrong and also so I wont be a hypocrite for not eating crow.
  16. It seems the argument for painting standards in a casual setting boils down to the fact that this game is a social experience where both players share some level of responsibility for each others enjoyment of the game. The disconnect for me is that I consider shaming someone over their available hobby time/painting skill/ etc. To be much more detrimental to the collective fun than grey plastic. That said I get the sense from the responses here that those for and against are arguing for or against two very different examples. I am arguing to defend the slow painter or the guy who isn't confident enough in his skills to do justice to a model, but those on the other side are arguing against the guy who shows up with a new grey netlist every time an army comes out. So I think that's where the conflict comes from. Taking the extremes from either side (guy who vocally shames unpainted models and guy who vocally says he will never paint his army cause hes just gonna sell them with the next release). One makes me roll my eyes but the other actively drives people from the hobby.
  17. A new book, or we're squatted, or we're in slaves to darkness, or we're a destruction faction. At this rate my favorite is a local guy who suggested they're gonna open a new stormcast rumination chamber lol
  18. I'm sorry but I have to strongly disagree with you. Paraphrasing you so I apologize if I misrepresent something. "To get what's really special out of tabletop you have to do both." Well good news. YOU have! Your opponent not painting their minis doesnt keep you from getting that something special. "I didnt get into this hobby to push grey plastic around." More good news, you arent obligated to play with your opponents models, in fact most people would reccomend you not push around their grey plastic without permission. I prefer seeing painted armies fighting painted armies but every person who gets driven from the game by that kind of "standard" will never paint their army and they'll never play any games so the standards at a casual level should really be "whatever allows you and your opponent to have the most fun* *must make REASONABLE accommodations" clear proxies and the like being reasonable. Not being allowed to deny someone access to the hobby based on your personal preference is NOT an accommodation. I should add I'm fine with tournaments having paint requirements. Nobody is being kept out of the hobby by not being able to go to tournaments and by the time you've reached that level you could probably paint them or use some hobby budget for commissioning a tabletop level paintjob.
  19. Karkalord cant go anywhere because he's my only use for a converted dragon ogre shaggoth that took me a lot of effort lol But on a tactical note I really dont like the idea of trading 6 inches off the reroll range for 2 wounds (which I wouldn't really call MUCH more durability) as our auras are already super restrictive. EDIT: I might try the khorne lord on juggernaut over chaos lord on karkadrak since they're the same base size it shouldn't be a problem and it leaves enough points to take the skulls if I want to try them.
  20. This is the information I was looking for thanks.
  21. Idk the tendrils look almost one for one with maulerfiends. Not to mention the little engine looking thing between the tendrils. Way too mechanical imo. Do we have any solid basis to think Chorfs are even actually in the pipe other than us really wanting them and them being mentioned a lot in lore? I mean grottvag scuttlers still dong exist and kurnothi have actual models but no big release. Did I miss something?
