  1. So the new faq makes sense in some scenarios. If I use a spell that makes you fight last and then you use a command ability that makes you fight first, then you fight first as it was the later effect. However, if I apply a spell which makes you fight last and my warscroll states I fight first then which takes precedence? A warscroll trait isn't an applied effect, so technically its there all the time? Or does it count as being the oldest effect as it was applied at the start of the game? Likewise when does the idoneth battle trait apply? Is it at the start of the game? The start of battle round 3 or the start of the combat phase on battle round 3? Any thoughts?
  2. I just updated my app and it's still the old one.
  3. Short answer is no. The long answer is that sharks, turtles and both eidolons got fairly significant reductions. I don't think that sharks are actually worth it over 3 morsarr, having looked at it a bit. That said they are definitely usable. I would definitely take an eidolon of the storm at 360 points. I would probably not take an eidolon of the sea, but others disagree and see him as a good option even prior to the point decreases. Ultimately I don't see any real reason not to just use eels when playing idoneth still. I don't think we will see that happen until the next battletome.
  4. I wonder if the lashed together stuff is part of an idoneth endless spell which features lots of wreckage as part of a whirlpool type deal.
  5. https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/4f9a1cf2.jpg It's happening! Idoneth Endless spells!
  6. I haven't seen the wording on the new rule. I was referring to 1) the new wording on rules, such as in the slaanesh battletome that states the abilities cancel out and 2) I think the previous faq for itchy nuisance which advised that the two abilities cancel out. If they've changed it again that causes all sorts of problems. For example when is a battle trait applied? If I use a spell to make idoneth fight last does it take precedence over the trait? Or is the trait persisting? Does the trait apply the effect on set up or at the start of a phase? Or for the daemon prince warscroll. What takes precedence? The warscroll permanent trait or the ability? The two cancelling each other out had seemed to resolve this issue for good.
  7. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's a weird change if they only recently clarified this.
  8. They already said the two abilities cancel each other out.
  9. He's not really viable competitively. You have no way to get cast bonuses so your spells get shut off, plus all the lore spells have fairly ****** ranges. He also doesn't do much damage in combat and lacks any defense against mortal wounds. If you compare him to a similar cost wizard, such as a keeper of secrets or vermin lord warpseer he is terrible. That said these point changes definitely help the more casual idoneth lists a lot.
  10. Shark at 100 pts is a maybe, eidolon of the storm is also a maybe. Otherwise no.
  11. Eidolon of the storm 360 Sea 380 Shark 100 Turtle 310
  12. Thoughts on the below list? All marked nurgle Cabalites Subfaction Harbinger of Decay - Ally = 160 pts Artefact - Thermal Rider Cloak Chaos Sorceror Lord = 110 pts Spell - Mask of Darkness Chaos Sorceror Lord on Manticore = 260 pts General Trait - Mighty Ritualist Spell - Binding Damnation Chaos Sorceror Lord = 110 pts Spell: Whispers of Chaos Chaos Lord = 110 pts Daemon Prince = 210 pts Artefact - Spelleater Pendant Spell = Call to Glory Battleline Chaos Marauders 2 x 40 = 600 pts Battleline Chaos Marauders 20 = 150 pts Plaguetouched Warband = 180 pts Darkfire Daemonrift = 60 pts Extra CP = 50 pts Total 1990
  13. You can play the old world then anyway... I'm quite happy here with all the wonderful newness.
  14. Having seen the allegiance abilities I think that they are ok, but nothing which really stands out as significantly boosting the overall power of the army. There are some nice ways to buff the daemon prince, but his points went up by a lot and even fighting first in combat and fighting in the hero phase the total damage isn't that high. Especially when you compare to similar units such as GKoTG and KoS. Personally I think this battletome might prove to be a bigger boost for Khorne and Nurgle than STD themselves. Marauders seem like the most reliable unit for damage in the battletome.
  15. I'd suggest everyone take a look at two warscrolls in particular. Chaos Sorcerer Lord and Chaos Sorcerer Lord on Manticore. The vanilla sorcerer is giving a unit reroll failed saves (all the time) and reroll all hits and wounds with a cast on 6 spell. The Manticore Lord has a horde killing spell like no other, presuming I read it right. One dice for each model in the enemy unit and five up is a mortal (good but not amazing), however sixes are d3 mortal wounds. This could absolutely annihilate powerful horde units like Witch Elves and Plague Monks. Also note that Archaon now has the hedonites keyword, not just Slaanesh, meaning in a Slaanesh army he gains locus of diversion. Daemon prince of Khorne looks like a must take for BoK armies to me. Basically gives you an 18 inch defence against deepstrike and charge while always fighting first. Overall my initial thoughts would be to take lots of marauders and buff them up with rerolls and fighting twice (from vanilla lord on foot). You could even do this by taking those units in a nurgle army with the glottkin for extra fun.
  16. Pretty sure about 60% of people don't care, 10 to 20% really want GW to actively pursue diversity and 10 to 20% don't like it. Here is what sums up the issue to me. Until 2017 there were no female stormcast. In 2018 suddenly 1 in 3 are female. There was no explanation for this. It just happened. Secondly, Warhammer previously had a fairly dark fantasy vibe. Archaon for instance was born as a result of a chaos warrior raping a nord woman. Other than elves in WHFB armies were male dominated, which particularly made sense due to the fact men are biological stronger and tougher than women when it comes to warfare. This reflected and mirrored real world history to an extent. Now you have brutal chaos hordes who we are meant to think are completely barbaric and depraved, except they would never do anything bad to women, be racist or sexist. In fact they are completely happy with a woman in charge. It doesn't even come up as an issue. To me there hasn't been any real explanation as to how we got to this point. It just appeared overnight. This makes it look like its a marketing decision to be more diverse, rather than a natural part of the setting. I also have personal beliefs about the hobby as being a traditional male space for guys to bond, much like a rugby or football team. But that has been mentioned before so I won't raise it again.
  17. My issue is that GW has sort of started forcing "diversity" into both 40k and AoS in the last few years. To me it doesn't feel like it's been handled in a natural and realistic way. It can come across as their being a quota. In particular the fact that the majority of the stormcast exclusive models have been named female characters. It seems like they really want to show off their diversity. It feels like Warhammer, rather than being the sort of harder fantasy world, has beant it's own rules to ensure a certain level of gender representation. With all the culture wars stuff going on sometimes you just want fantasy to be fantasy in the traditional vein. It honestly isn't a big thing or something I think about much. It's just another thing to sort of roll my eyes about when I see these exclusive stormcast models. I have absolutely no issue with women, I love my partner, the women in my family and I respect my female colleagues. But warhammer has always been a "boys and their toys" space and it doesn't need to be liberalised or diversified. I hope you can see where I'm coming from even if you don't agree. Anyway didn't mean to go so off topic. To end I would have preferred a cool and gender neutral exclusive nighthaunt model.
  18. And another stormcast exclusive model that happens be a "badass female" trope. Oh well at least we can all try and get loads of cheap chainrasps.
  19. Remember the last two years there has been a special surprise preview on Christmas. Nurgle and Gloomspite respectively. What Angellic hymns might this year bring?
  20. I've been using 3 to 6 Morrsarr in all my games. They are very effective allies because of the significant movement boost they offer. Plus their combat effectiveness is largely built into their warscroll, so they don't lose out much by not being in an idoneth list. If you put them into the right thing, for example elite units or rendable monsters, they really blend. After the one charge though they are fairly useless if stuck in combat.
