TerrorPenguin
Since grind and special saves seems to be death's 'thing', how many saves is it possible to get on a unit in Death? Can anyone beat 4? Morghast Archai on it's final wound: Armour Save 4+ Ebon wrought armour 5+ Deathless minions 5+ Stood next to a wight king with infernal standard 6+ But seriously, is that all the sources of special saves in death? AlexanderHemedinger
Pretty much. You could go: Armor save. Unholy vitality from Aborghant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist. 5+.. Ruler of the night allegiance ability 5+. Wight king 6+.
AlexanderHemedinger
So basically add the Ghoul King on Terrorgheist and you get another 5+ from your list. Hope that helps.
TerrorPenguin
Ha, I think we may have just been discussing this on the Facebook group and I missed the unholy vitality save - the whole point of the initial discussion! Are there any more?

CoffeeGrunt
The Morghast wouldn't get Ebon Armour and its Armour Save, as Ebon only kicks in against Mortal Wounds, which would negate the Armour Save.
mmimzie
Necromancer (armor maybe)> deathless minion> Necromancer tranfer save> morghast mortal wound save> deathless minion save> wight king death save

CoffeeGrunt
On a Battleline unit like Skeletons or Zombies it's effectively another Deathless save, though.
Nico
Ebon Wrought armour only works on Mortal wounds though (which makes it much weaker). They would actually be useful at their painful cost (cf. Dracoth Knights, which don't die when poked by 20 Spearmen) if they had a 5+ ward against both wounds and mortal wounds.
CoffeeGrunt
We can't have our heavy hitters outdoing the poster boys though. That's like Chaos Marines getting a better unit than Space Marines.

Ugh, my bugbear is that they are basically slightly better Kurnoth Hunters for double the cost. They should be 200 points for two, if not 180. 240 is way over
Oppenheimer
Yeah, I have 4 harbingers and was thinking that I pretty much never get to field them because they are just too many points. Was considering picking up an archai before the GH came out. Not anymore.
mmimzie
i agree the morghast are definitely a bit over priced for what they do. 2x: 6 wounds 4+ save with 5+ mortal wound save, 3 attack 3+/3+ -2 rend 3 damage average 8 damage out put vs 3x: 5 wounds 4+ save, 3 attacks 3+/3+ -2 rend d3 damge average 8 damage with possible 1.5 mortal wounds really paying alot for +1 move, flying, +1 summoning, and mortal wound save vs -1.5 mortal wound and -3 wounds. Nico
Should be 200 (with Stormfiends). Varanguard should also go down to 100 per model. Kurnoth Hunters look cheap outside of the context of a Sylvaneth army, but trust me, it's hard to fit them into a Sylvaneth army without compromising elsewhere. If they go up, then Spite Revenants need to be inherent Battleline and Tree Revenants should drop to 90. They are also seriously slow outside of a Sylvaneth army (which is a relevant factor compared to Harbingers, Archai and Varanguard).
