The Painting Contract - October 2022

I've returned after a few months break from the hobby. I've sold off all of my old AoS armies before doing so, and now I'm returning back to the aelves.

I am working on a squad of Wardens to get started - so far everything is basecoats, washes, and layering of said base coats outside a few exceptions like the armor trim and the inner cloth on the High Warden's banners.

I think my goal is to get the unit to where the High Warden is by the end of the week. I will need to decide what to build on from there.

So, besides Be'lakor, I managed to fully paint another unit of Annihilators - I have also played a bit with an alternate colour scheme.

These guys are bodyguards of a Lord-Imperatant that is leading my force, so they all share the same armour (keep in mind the miniature is not fully painted yet):

The forum is back just in time! I have my Deathriders built and primed - with a test model finished. I’ve also painted the Soulmason and the Liege-Kavalos; the latter with a slightly different palette (and more work) than the rest of the army.

I was productive this month!

I finished up a unit of Freeguild Outriders and a Handgunner I kitbashed.

In my opinion, these guys still look pretty cool, although you can definitely feel the age of those sculpts. A lot of the details and boundaries between parts are really fuzzy and you need to put them in with paint. I love their vibe, though, too bad they have bad rules.

Next I finished some Immortis Guard:

For OBR I set myself up with a speed painting friendly scheme of drybrushing, contrast paints and effect paints. That's why these guys just took a day to paint, compared to the Outriders' two weeks or so.

Finally, I painted one Son of Velmorn:

Not much to say about them except that they look great. I didn't imagine the classic Grave Guard aesthetic coumd look cool, but here we are!

I will be working on the other sons in the coming month.
