  1. Thinking about it last night, to clarify why i dislike their background so much, they took the imagery and names from Slayers and Grimnir and came out with something completely different. The Cult of Grimnir in Warhammer is almost completely different to the one in AoS aside from liking the colour orange and fighting.
  2. As an olld olllllllld school dwarf player i find the Fyreslayers abhorrent personally, their background will be spinning their ancestors in their graves so hard thats probably whats generating all the heat in the realm of fire The models are bad, mostly because there are basically only two models in the range, Fyreslayer and Fyreslayer on magmadroth which gets awfully samey, awfully quickly. Weirdly they have less variety than the old Slayer army and they had one unit and some weird special units As others mentioned, the helmets are a really bad choice, id personally ditch they entirely, bring back slayer hair and some facial features and you can start building a lot more character than just weapon combinations. I mean honestly i thought the whole current army came out of one kit... (Though admittedly i hadnt looked into them much because of my powerful dislike). I think the trousers idea above is a good one too, or clothes in general, they let units be distinct too and you can still have scantily clad minis if you want to, perhaps save the nearly naked for the elites choices? Or perhaps once you get enough Ur Gold in you you start to become more rocky, or firey? Play with the high fantasy setting a bit! Oh and Drake cavalry, and some artillery obviously .
  3. Many thanks folks Unfortunately i dont have any other photos and hes stashed away in storage somewhere +1 on the Mantic zombies, they were less than half the price at the time for good enough minis for a ravening horde, things like zombies genuinely benefit from being cheap and huge i think, which gw could do, pack a sprue solid with minis with minor posability and extra heads and cut your margins and you will sell boatloads, folks will do their own conversions and kitbashes if they are that way inclined buts its cheaper and easier for people who want literally hundreds
  4. Ive only got one, between the old Tempus fugitives forums going kaput and my losing all my photos pre 2014 unfortunately and its of a flesh titan mid building but here ya go (I kept it thumbnail to avoid derailing things!) 547116_10150965651855797_1616784672_n by Noserenda, on Flickr
  5. Yeah its kind of surprising how neglected zombies are in AoS given their pop culture appeal, the sprues were ancient even when i was building a zombie cannibal army for Tempus Fugitives event back in Warhammer that was!
  6. Teclis wasnt in the Top 10 models, because there was no top ten models. There was a top 3 and then Honourable mentions, which could mean almost anything, but i think was GW highlighting the models they felt were the best. Personally i dont hate Teclis but Eltharion takes him out back and beats him with a rubber hose
  7. Its also worth noting that sometimes Forgeworld intends to do models but then they get scrapped/delayed behind the scenes, like the rest of the Sisters of Silence and the Consuls, lord knows what else. So its not so much a glorious conversion encouraging plan as much as things not always going to plan, at least not these days! I do wish the whole community was so open minded about old models and conversions too, got some real stanky attitude over some of mine
  8. Plastic moulds are afaik pretty hard to kill, some of the ancient metals and resin ones are one bad drop away from destruction but it makes sense GW keeps the old ones archived somewhere within reason, i mean they do do made to order runs of some pretty old models. I sincerely doubt we will see new runs of the plastics though, the reasons they got retired in the first placewould still be pretty applicable.
  9. They wont get too specific because at 2 years out basically everything about the game is elastic, all we really know is itll be set in the Old World and on square bases. Kislev is probably getting models, but lord knows Forgeworld have cancelled or wildly delayed enough models and lines over the years that isnt a dead cert tbh.
  10. Ill admit im already sick of the marketing for Old World, they just pop up every 6 months or so to over-promise stuff. Ive kept an old dwarf army on squares and ive been pretty lazy moving the skaven over but its super unlikely ill buy new armies i cant use in AoS too. That said, a proper epic scaled Warhammer game, (Warmaster was good but it never felt like Warhammer) would DEFINITELY catch my attention, i mean you wouldnt even need to change the rules much from 8th and could run some awesomely apocalyptic battles. Better yet you could field the core of several armies with epic style sprues at a very reasonable price, Hell, just look at Warlord games acw stuff they just announced but give them GW production values... *drool*
  11. I did and its largely correct but Forgeworld and Specialist games as a whole is still run by Tony Cottrell and while they dont talk about him much these days (For various problematic reasons) he still puts his oar in on things, and most of the business decisions still ultimately lead back to him rather than some nebulous part of main GW.
  12. I think the main problem with FW these days is that its the last bastion of "old gw" thought being run by a dinosaur. Its apparently been in the middle of "big changes" for a year or more but not much has really changed on the surface, if anything its gone backwards more than GW over lockdown! Its still an opaque box that burps out products and bad decisions in equal measure, then goes on savage purges of slow selling lines without warning. I used to be a huge FW fan but these days... I cant understand people who still are.
  13. I think the concepts and fluff the AoS team are putting out are definitely a step ahead these days, the 40k team is doing solid work, but its just that, solid, rather than inspired, at least on that front, they are doing cool things mechanically
  14. April is clearly a lovely shade of Warpstone, meaning we finally get the gutter runners we deserve so badly *delusions intensify*
  15. I mean shes clearly HOLDING A THERMAL DETONATOR! Guess it depends which generation you hail from
  16. Stripping and repainting is a great alternative to buying new things when cash is short, as is selling them on when its reeeally short!
  17. I mean if they got someone in Settra cosplay to boot in the back door of whoever is presenting the preview, flail them out of shot and slam down a new tomb kings range i would just post GW all of my money on principle. Seems unlikely though.
  18. Battleforces usually come out end of November and only tend to leak if the xmas catalogues come out early as there is so little work involved. Id be pretty surprised if they dont appear tbh as they have always been a solid earner for GW and covid isnt crippling plastic production that badly afaik.
  19. Got to admit i hate the concept of Fyreslayers so much (For various reasons, mostly fluff) but i think they would work better as a cult of Grimnir in a larger Dwarf army, focus on that stuff rather than diluting it further. Though i wouldnt say no to models that look like real slayers again But yeah some new Dwarf force that focuses on their 3/4 gods, but could be played as mono god if you like, resurgence of the old ways maybe? Could even do it by god as Grungi is only active one currently afaik in AoS?
  20. Theres more stuff in the boxes, which is what pushes the price up more than anything (Though yeah, less discount aint great). I doubt this is some profit rinsing conspiracy, more just what a 500pt army that isnt random or awful actually costs. Which also isnt great but hey they already inflated all the points costs recently to reduce the cost of entry a bit. Y'know i think two competing philosophies is surprisingly accurate as a call
  21. I think with Warcry theyve struggled to keep the cheaper starter boxes in stock, really shouldnt be a surprise to see them go up in price unfortunately
  22. Ooof i was hoping the rumours for the giant pricing were wrong, i was half considering a couple (Because i quite like 40k knights) but thats priced me waaaaay out
  23. Eh, plenty of Hardcore Heresy players were happy to play 40k armies too, if nothing else the Heresy scene originated with Pre heresy stuff so we were doing a lot of great crusade weekenders and stuff I just wish they hadnt stuck with the worst version of 40k That flexibility is a big selling point when stepping into a new game system though, Lord knows ive probably got a dozen random armies from dead systems in boxes out in the garage and thats with selling all the ones anyone wanted, and thats not particularly uncommon either. Knowing you can always field your Kislev (or whatever) army in AoS is a solid backup plan if old world fails to take off (Overall or locally whatever) is going to be a big help to someone dropping a few hundred quid on it! Ive no idea what their sales numbers are or were for old Warhammer other than "low enough to gamble on AoS" but anecdotally i doubt theres a huge scene for rank and file games these days, though id definitely like there to be I mean there have been 2 kings of war armies in the garage of shame
  24. I dunno, i look at how fast Age of Darkness shrank once they removed crossover with 40k, that and how much better models are and can be on larger round bases but i suppose its hardly something theyd lie about. Just hope there are movement tray adaptors as mentioned by a few. That said my old dwarves are still sat on square bases as they were mid revamp when the horror of AoS 1 became apparent
  25. I think Vampire pirates fits Warcry or Underworlds a lot better than it does main AOS tbh.
