  1. I love the Sacrosant from the Lore to the Rules but the points aren't where they should be, which feels weird because I still dont feel like they make Stormcast top of tier 1. I think it's more about internal balance is where its wrong. As it stands though point for point sacrosant bas better Liberators and Paladin equivalents. Only Judicators and Dracothian Guard seem to be left as the top units for their roles.
  2. Oh yeah that hadn't even occurred to me but I will give that a shot I think against this Eidolon that's been giving me trouble thanks. I just never see them played for some reason, probably from being spoiled for choice and being able to take Judicators as battleline. I can see them being useful but as far as being OP I'm going to have to test them out in some real matches. Everything I play lately is fast and flying it seems so I dont imagine them being too effective.
  3. How do we feel about endless spells for the Stormcast? I just bought the SC specific box and it only looks like the comet is worth taking regularly and out of the generic spells the life swarm seems helpful for my Evocators and line-infantry. Obviously everyone is wild about the Cogs for good reason. Are there any other "reliable in nearly every matchup" endless spells? What do you recomend? What has thoroughly let you down for the points everytime?
  4. Sorry but which unit are you claiming is overpowered for its cost? The Stormcast schtick is one of many choices but most either clearly overpowered or underpowered for their cost and they end up falling into viable or unviable so I tend to lose track. I do hope once all chambers are opened they can get this internal balance thing figured out.
  5. Death is a hard matchup for just about everyone no matter what. In my experience Stormcast (of which I'm a player) are an intro army but not really top tier and death is definitely at the top of that list currently and you feel it. They kinda do everything you do but better and that's before you count Nagash. Imho I dont think God characters should be in the game expect as Avatars/Shards where they can be more appropriately balanced and you not have either an unkillable God or a God that can somehow be brought down in a round of shooting from 4 units.
  6. I know that, the lantern gives me +1 to my save and on a 7+ they heal 1 damage. I'm asking if that healing negates damage taken in the same combat. Like if I failed 3 saves but also got 3, 6's is it a wash or do I lose 1 liberator and heal a wound on the 1 left over?

He will be using the anti charging enclave rules and has a tanky 6 eel unit rerolling 1s on a 2+ save that is in the shadow of that turtle. These three elements of his list I am unaware of how I should deal with these issues with the tools I have at my disposal. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
  8. Concerning a Lord Castellant's warding lantern, does rolling 7+ on my save, do those rolls negate damage on saves that failed and mortals inflicted in the same combat? Sorry if this has been asked before.
  9. I have to agree, Franz was my personal favorite character that got me into the game in the first place. I don't want the Prime to be Karl Franz because part of his appeal was he was a mere human standing against the inhuman. He should either stay dead or be resurrected as a man to rule over Sigmaron while Sigmar is busy being a God.
  10. For sure give it a try but if you work out "the maths" Grandstaves are better in all non rerolling cases except 2+ saves. I'm wondering how they could even out the weapons without clearly overshadowing the other like the Grandstaves do now. Maybe on the swords when rolling a natural 6 inflict one mortal wound seems to make it fair.
  11. I'm putting together my Evocators on Dracolines and I'm a little disappointed that 1, the limit for grandstaves is 2 per 3 and not every model as designed may be chosen to have one. I already completed the model I intended to have a sword and staff but later found out he was one of the two that can be built with a grandstave. Finally, the way to have built him like one would have left him looking significantly different from the rest of the unit seeing as he would look a good deal more ornate as he needs to be built with most of the Lord Arcanum bits. In my opinion kits like this one and the Dracothian guard are harmed by forcing in the bits to make a leader out of one of the models which if you chose to build it would make your unit under strength. They should use this "spare space" to have more customization options like alternate heads or weapons imho.
  12. What is the point in switching their weapon profiles between mauls and swords? I prefer the sword look and think it makes sense they could make more attacks with the sword but harder to wound. Edit: never mind I understand you were speaking of liberators having the profiles of sequitors. My mistake.
  13. Personally I think it's too gimmicky, but you're fielding the strongest units to come out of this new book and my Evocators on foot rarely fail to delete whoever they get into combat with (I play celestial Vindicators so they're a little more blendy). I like to play in all phases even in the less powerful than before shooting phase. Good luck though I hope you get that 5+ more often than is statistically likely.
  14. I'm glad you like the Ballista but Judicators aren't a proper comparison IMHO. They fulfill different roles on the board and in your list. Battleline status cannot be ignored and neither can a 24" accurate range, snipping characters and elites vs hordes.
  15. I think most people use sports scores, in other words who was the best opponent enjoyment wise.
  16. I don't think neophyte Stormcast would make sense because they are normally experienced and skilled by the time they are chosen. Also their enhancements don't need a maturation period, they are granted a portion of the God King's power and the reforging wraps it all up. They do train in a special Coliseum but like I said they mostly come pre-trained and capable. They also already have scout-like units in the Vanguard chambers. If they want a horde unit they can ally in Freeguild.
  17. Oh it was on Reddit, I dont mean to imply it happened on TGA. Good call out on the Skullreapers too, they are one of my favorite units and a good comparison point for Retributors.
  18. Careful I was dragged for suggesting Paladins get a 3+ save for having heavier armor/being elite.
  19. Yea this has been the issue giving me pause, I've been playing a lot of "laugh at your rending" armies lately and most of those just flat out bring back dead dudes so those mortal wounds and dice saturation might have a place in my force. However if they were 18" or even as low as 15" range I wouldn't even be asking but 12" ... IS. SO. TERRIBLE for a unit that doesn't actually want to be in hand to hand.
  20. I just got my first box of Judicators and Evocators respectively. From what I've read there is one way to build these two units so that they are reasonably competitive and you're not unecessarily hamstringing your forces. Judicators=Bows Evocators=Grandstaves I'd like to hear the TGA community's take. Personally I think Evo's look great with either build but I think the Crossbows look best on the Judicators by a bit.
  21. @EMMachinehey we both paint Celestial Vindicators! can I get your steps for painting the turquoise armor?
  22. You're making a point about a wider issue i've been trying to start conversation about: the issues with first wave AoS and how they don't function in the game as smoothly or appropriately. 4" moves on paladins and Lord Relictor, 5 wounds on heroes who should obviously be a 6, units without a role or at least not strong enough in any given role. Thankfully most people will be forgiving on the spacing with prosecutors so long as you cite one model as the "anchor" and the others are just assumed to be one inch to either side.
  23. I don't know what to do with the last 140 points? What is my list missing that I could take with 140 pts? Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals - Stormhost: Celestial Vindicators Leaders Lord-Castellant (100) - General - Trait: Single-minded Fury - Artefact: Stormrage Blade Knight-Incantor (140) - Spell: Celestial Blades Battleline 10 x Liberators (200) - Warhammer & Shield - 2x Grandhammers 10 x Liberators (200) - Warblade & Shield - 2x Grandblades 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows - 1x Shockbolt Bows 5 x Judicators (160) - Skybolt Bows - 1x Shockbolt Bows Units 4 x Fulminators (480) 5 x Retributors (220) - 2x Starsoul Maces 5 x Evocators (200) - 5x Grandstaves - Lore of Invigoration: Speed of Lightning Total: 1860 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 2 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 121
  24. I've said similar things before. The thing is Stormcast isnt a tier one army, that belongs to legions of Nagash in my opinion but they are a solid tier two, maybe not even top of the tier there and that's with these "better libs and better paladins." Which is fine by me for an army but I think the two unit types left behind need buffs and not the others being debuffed. Retributors are too expensive should have 1 more attack per man and or one better save given they are a slow 4" move and pricey. Not sure what to do with the libs but im to suggestions.
  25. Same thing happened with Stormcast, everything either fair or better except the Lord Arcanum on Tauralon. It's about twice the price its should be, way out of left field.
