  1. I agree. I don't mind DOK having good durability but it's not being expressed properly in terms of rules; stacking save bonuses just isn't the right way to display their agility and faith-based shielding.
  2. I'm not too concerned with whether DOK should be an elite army or use huge blocks of infantry. I'm far more concerned that an army of naked knife psychos is so durable. That doesn't make any sense to me both in terms of aesthetics and gameplay. They really messed up when writing the rules for DOK.
  3. Block charges with cheap screens (Aetherwings and Liberators work well) then counterattack with your strong combat and shooting units.
  4. Change inspiring presence to reduce your battleshock roll to 0 instead of giving you an automatic pass. The test still happens, modifiers still apply.
  5. You are misunderstanding how movement works in this game. You can't end a move within 3" of an enemy model during the movement phase. If you make a move in any other phase that rule is not relevant.
  6. Is that a raven or a crow? I wonder if this has anything to do with Lethis? They are also called the Raven City and Forbidden Power goes into some detail about how they worship a death god that uses raven symbolism.
  7. You dont always jump into melee, but if you are ignoring their powerful melee attacks you're not getting the most out of sal/raz. Those Rend-2 2/D3 attacks are brutal, especially on Salamanders because they can activate It Burns in melee. Also worth noting that if you're playing Coalesced then Salamanders get an extra attack in melee (it is a Jaws attack), and if you're playing Thunderquake Templehost you can give them another attack in melee.
  8. If your army isn't very strong then it's a good time to work through your backlog of models you would never use in a matched play game
  9. I guess if you just ignore their charge phase shooting, Rend within 6", and combat phase then Salamanders are much better.... though I'm not sure why you would do something that silly It's also much easier for them to hit targets behind screens with their 18" range, even if it means you lose out on Rend-1
  10. Razordons and Salamanders were pretty close when they were both 80pt. With Salamanders going up to 110 it will be easy to swap to Razordons and keep Salamanders in the summoning pool.
  11. If there's going to be a battleplan that prohibits deep strike there should be a battleplan that prohibits summoning.
  12. I have to assume they are going to try to push 3.0 out the door in summer 2021, if for no other reasons than: a. There will be a new Stormcast release and need an excuse to release a big box of full of pushfit prototypes b. The game will move to smaller table sizes like what happened in 40k and they want to start pushing that sooner than later
  13. I agree - the issue is the rules and not the point costs. 10 points off each unit across the board doesnt do much when your melee bounces off walls. I hope they'll look at my Battletome revamp project when writing the next Stormcast battletome
  14. As long as Stormcast can't fight first or punch through hearthguard/mortek walls then a deep strike charge list will just not be good enough.
  15. The problem with Judicators before were: You are less reliably doing damage because of their lower accuracy No mortal wounds on hit6 Lower rend makes a big difference in sniping 2+/3+ monsters More bodies makes the unit difficult to pivot and move, more reliant on translocate Cant control aetherwings, but aetherwings are still necessary for this kind of castle playstyle. Bringing Hurricanes/Longstrikes alongside Judicators results in leaning too heavily in shooting You will want a 2nd priest for Bless Weapons but you dont have the points for it Maybe with the point changes these problems are alleviated?
  16. My Anvilstrike list probably cant compete with the 2020 power creep armies any more, even with ~100 points extra from this newest GHB. It was already struggling to maintain board presence against armies like Fyreslayers and Idoneth, but now with COS/Seraphon/KO/Tzeentch there are other potent shooting armies in the mix. Seraphon in particular are a hard counter, being able to teleport long range shooting units with Starborne, or reducing Longstrike damage to 1 with Coalesced, and reliably casting spells from outside Incantor void scroll range. I'm not sure how to pivot the list to make it more effective. Maybe we need to swap the Longstrikes for 20x Judicator to give them more defense against mortal wounds.
  17. Anvils 20 Judicators 5 Judicators 5 Judicators 3 Longstrikes 3 Longstrikes Relictor Incantor Azyros 12 units of Aetherwings 1980
  18. 20 Judicators is only 560 points now. I wonder if a 2x20 Jud Anvils list has some potential
  19. Since there are no nerfs to OBR (in fact they were buffed) I can only assume they will be changing the Petrifex save bonus. I am going to guess it will be "reroll save rolls of 1" instead of "+1 to save rolls".
  20. If you use Anvils you have enough CP to make all 3 units of Longstrikes shoot twice in the first turn. Thats potentially 36 shots in a single round, which would take a normal 1x9 anvils list two rounds. Very interesting.
  21. Point leaks are out. It's very close to what I was hoping for... almost every unit is cheaper.
