  1. Hello everyone! On Chaosbunker.de we've been thinking about a little army building project in the 4Generals style and have actually decided to go for it. I already had a little project running here with my Ironjawz, but I kind of didn't continue to play AoS anymore, when the second edition came out. My hope is, that with WarCry, it'll breathe new motivation into me to paint up the rest of my Ardboys as well. Three more warbands will join, contributed by the other participants of the project. I will post all articles here this topic, so you won't have to visit the blog if you don't wat to, but a click or a like on Facebook is a welcome feedback and motivator for us. This first post will also serve as index for all the articles, so you can find a particular one quickly, if you're searching for something. 1: Warhammer Age of Sigmar WarCry - Part 1 2: Warhammer Age of Sigmar WarCry - Part 2 3: Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Azyrite Townscape 4: Warhammer Ager of Sigmar - Sigmarite Dais 5: Lords of WarCry - Da Redfists, Part 1 6: Lords of WarCry - Da Redfists, Part 2 7: Lords of WarCry - Untamed Beasts, Part 1 8: Lords of WarCry - Da Redfists, Part 3 9: Lords of WarCry - Da Redfists, Part 4 10: WarCry Ravaged Lands - Shattered Stormvault Review 11: Coming soon 12: Coming soon 13: Coming soon 14: Coming soon
  2. You can play the game and pretty much creat a board and terrain without a problem, if you own only the rulebook. The starterbox comes with a lot of helpful gimmicks though, as you do need quite a lot of woundmarkers, activation markers and objective markers to keep track of the game. It might get better over time utilising other tools, but in the beginning it is a lot more comfortable. I have to say that I haven't looked at these yet, but I like charge as a cheap ability a lot. Waaagh is of course of the essence, as we have such a slow movement rate, and many scenarios include objective goals. Shieldbash is the big loser on those abilities from my point of view. With a high roll it can be good, but it requires an extra roll before that. Yeah, that's right, I forgot about that when I wrote my little summary. I was so much in a rush to not forget how the games went, that I actually did forget, that we noticed that during the game too and put one of the Ardboys back on the field. I wanted to play an all out Ardboy list, as I simply feel these guys don't get enough love, but in order to mix up a bit what I paint I'll try the following list next: Brute Boss (not the one with the claw), a Brute with two choppaz, two Ardboys with big choppaz, two with two choppaz and one Ardboy with a shield. That guy I'll probably only use to wander of and take some objectives, ad he is a bit more durable than the other boyz.
  3. So, I had two games today. I play an all out Ardboys warband. The boss, two guys with shields, three guys with two choppaz and three guys with a really big choppa. Game 1 The first game was against Vanguard Stormcats. Four Vanguards, a Gryphhound and two Eagles, or whatever they are called. Gotta say, that's a tough match for Ardboys. Vanguard cannot only take a hit, their shootiness is pretty good too. We played a scenario where victory points are scored at the end of the turn for each model that is 3" above the ground. Whil I tried to duff em Goldies up good, I quickly had to realise, that they won't outlast a Stormcat in a straight up fight. The real killer though was the Gryphhound. Damn thing took down two of my boys with ease and it took quite some effort to kill that damn thing. On our troops I'm split - two choppaz is good, but I think the big choppa is better. Shieldboyz proved to be effective when it came down to durability. At first I thought these guys can't keep up with the other boys, but when it's about holding an objective, they are outstanding. I think I'll keep it the way I played today, one of them in the Dagger and one of them in the Hammer group. I squeezed out a narrow victory by climbing a building with the last movement of the game. Game 2 I played against Gitz, with one Hoppaboss, one Hoppa with lance, two squigs and one herder. Opposed to what I thought an elite Hoppa warband actually does very good, my opponent had a bit of bad luck when we drew the victory conditions. I was the attacker and had to destroy at least four mission markers, while he could place six in total and had to keep three of them intact at least. One of our crews (Shield) arrived in the second round. Again, I was lucky, as I got a tripple and was able to move faster, so I had basically won at the beginning of round two. We decided to go on to see what our armies can do, and I think that Gitz can be pretty dangerous for us. As our Boyz have only 15HP they can die rather quickly and he had a skill with which he could jump over my boys and dealed an automatic 5 damage at everything in range where the Hoppa landed. Yeah, I managed to kill him, but I drew some boys towards him, which temted him to split his attacks. So one boy survived and finished the already injured Hoppaboss off. Now Hoppas are extremely fast and our speed is a problem. We have a numerical adavantage but have to a)know our enemy and b) use our manouvering ability really, really smart, as we can easyly get diversed from mission goals. If I would've played the previous scenario with him I wouldn't have stood a chance. So much from the front at the Varanspire for now. The Redfists have been victorious in their first two battles, let's see how many more we'll face in the future.
  4. Yes, it's a shield. I don't see the various options covered for the boss, but I don't see this to be a problem, as long as he is distinguishable from the other Orruks.
  5. I think I'll try to play an all out Ardboy list. At 1000 points it looks like this: Boss, 2xShields, 3xGreataxe, 3xChoppaz/Bashaz Though I'm not sure if that loadout can keep up with the other warbands. The Ardboys don't have that many healthpoints compared to the Brutes, and their speed an lack of range weapons will likely make them hard to play. Gives "Ardboys" a whole new meaning...
  6. ...err...it isn't to me....what do you mean? I'm doing that in order to finish an old project. I have some Brutes here and might throw them in the mix later. Their numbers make seem pretty much like beasts on the field. The biss with one choppa and the guy with the gorehacka seem to make a good core. Some Ardboys with two hackaz can then fill up the ranks. But I'm not the stats guy, that's just a feeling. I'll be going with an Ardboy boss, two guys with shields, three guys with big choppaz and three guys with hackaz and bashaz. That's a bit more numbers on the field at 1000 points.
  7. Allright, it's gonna be all out Ardboys then. The Redfists are coming back...
  8. Wishlisting, hunh? Well...we have most chaosgods covered with the warbands - but no Skaven on the horizon. I'd like to see a warband mainly made up of stormvermin. I think they are good lookin models an would fit the narrative. The Horned Rat has claimed it's rightful spot in the pantheon of chaosgods and doesn't like to see some wannabe demigod gathering strength. Time for some sabotage...thinking of that...why not release a new clan Eshin warband box, just for that?
  9. And what is a proper book? Something that adjusts point values for competitive game requirements? To me the day one warscrolls were already "proper". Who actually has a problem with releases most of the time? Why is there mainly adjustments in paperworks and not in models? I somehow always get back to the same, mostly competitive, causation. EDIT: Just to make this clear, this emphasizes a factor of the upcoming releases - this is part of the rumours. I'm not trying to make this a discussion about the community, but the community does impact production and release strategy. It's very much connected.
  10. You know, I once had a girl who bought a backpack, because it was on sale for a lower price. I told her to bring it back. We had quite an argument, but she did. After already owning four other backpacks I just couldn't help but to think "This wasn't money you saved, but money you've spent additionally.". And buying something expensive and justifiying it with it being less expensive than insanely expensive is reason enough for me to trigger my common sense (yes, even in THIS hobby) - it just doesn't work for me as an argument.
  11. Judging by the graphic from @zamerion I believe it's retail prices.
  12. Oof...okay...that's to pricey for my taste...
  13. How does this guy...or girl...or whatever hides beneath that cloth, go to the toilet, eat, drink, or do anything else? Seems pretty dependet on others 😅 @Moldek I had a similiar thought, some of the designs remind me of Conan Exiles a lot. Though I`m not a fan of the super grim dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark stuff. The hobby triggered me maily visualy and that was, because it was colorful. I can't understand most people's fascination for super dark settings, as to me that seems pretty depressive. Making it gritty and giving it a belivable feel though is something else.
  14. To be honest, that is the reason why I DON'T go to watch some movies anymore. Examples: Lord of the Rings left some scenes from the teaser out, didn't go on to watch the hobbit. Rogue One left the scene out where the Tie Fighter appears hovering over Jyn Erso, didn't watch Episode 8 or Han Solo. The list could go on, but you get the point. It is not okay to fool the customer with false product information. In Germany there is even a law against it. It's called "misleading advertisement" roughly translated...
  15. @EMMachine I don't know if it's like that in the UK too, but in my region "Narrative Play" has nearly died out since the introduction of the GHB. Skirmish went the same fate with the release of the WD rules. If it's smaller scale it usually means, it's rather a boxed game than AoS. But I'd be happy to see pointless games with smaller sizes make a return. I actually really liked the Skirmish supplement too. It worked, with what was in there. That's why I wrote "almost". Though the smaller the unit gets, the more the trend leans toward a "monstrous" unit. Something that is modelwise big and pricewise costs the same as a unit with more small minis. There is still some great boxes out there though - I believe the Rockgut Troggoths are awesome for a multitude of systems beyond AoS. I use them for Blood Bowl for example, as you can make three from the box.
  16. Prices are going up in Germany too. Info is in the newsletter for retailers. If this regards the trees I don't know, so far I know that some of the 40 tanks and the Blood Bowl stuff is getting an almost 25% price increase. Now, I don't have an intention to start talk about the prices again - everybody who's been watching with open eyes can see, that we're almost back at 8th edition with the market behaivement. Thanks to GHB armies grow in sizes (30+ regiments) and people think it's a must with certain point values. Bigger armies = more revenue and the same goes for a higher price tag on more effective units. Pretty simple pay to win principle...if that is what is important to you. Alright, I'm getting ready for the stones people are gonna throw at me 😉
  17. Not a good PR move? Does that really matter? They`ve been marketing well since 2016. there`s an army of acolytes constantly waiting for new products every week. This can`t harm the company at the moment.
  18. Aaaah....page long discussions about points. Feels almost like two years ago. Next thing we need to do is discuss about how bad and unbalanced the rules are. I missed that SO MUCH. Not. 🙃 Anything new about the exciting stuff? WarCry for example? Is it going to replace the Skirmish ruleset? I guess so...that one died down too with the latest GHB.
  19. So they`re actually just living underneath a kind of glas dome? Hunh....that`s interesting....so, other factions cana ctually try to get access without "equiping everone with a breathing device".
  20. You get the point 😉 All I was curious about was, why Idoneth have noses instead of gills or something like that. Didn`t know they didn`t live in the seas right from the beginning.
  21. Why do Idoneth have noses, when they live under water?
  22. After waiting a bit and testing in a couple of games, my player group decided to go back to the original Skirmish rules and the 1st ed. AoS rules, as they work fairly well together. I have to admit, I was a bit sour with the rules update at the beginning. Not because I think they are bad rules, that isn`t the case, it`s the same reason why I actually didn`t like the AoS 2 ruleset that much - it kind of took away the two big strengths of the game: simplicity and small army/warband sizes. The size of 250 points for example almost doubled the size of my mixed destruction warband. What has been: - Savage Big Boss - Morrboy Boss, Morrboy - Gitmob Grot Boss, Gitmob Grot is now: - Savage Big Boss - Morrboy Boss, Morrboy Musician, Morrboy, Morrboy, Morrboy - Gitmob Grot Boss, Gitmob Grot Musician, Gitmob Grot, Gitmob Grot, Ironguts Grot, Spiderfang Spider Rider I basically just filled up to meet the minimum requirement of 250 points. It`s the same with my Ironjawz warband, where a Warchanter and two Ardboys all of a sudden became a Warchanter and ten Ardboys. Basically the minimum size that we usually played, around 30 renown, has risen to approximately 60 renown. Now don`t get me wrong, that is still fun, it just doesn`t carry the strengths I mentioned anymore. Especially at 30 renown you can be sure that a game will last one hour max (we actually had the feeling, that the amount of renown rougly equaled the amount of playtime in minutes per match). What will definitely follow over time, is a rules PDF where we combine both into one file, the AoS1 rules and Skirmish1. This way we can also leave out what is replaced in the Skirmish book for AoS1 anyway.
  23. Um...sorry, I`m not a native speaker and am just wondering...what does this mean? ❔
