  1. I'm just building my Gutrippas from Dominion (x2) and was wondering if anyone had any ideas about converting two to musicians. The 2 banners are not so bad as you can add a flag to a spear, but instruments are a bit harder. The standard box of 10 has options for 2 musicians, but I'm not sure if you can build both options from one box, or if they use the same model. I wasn't planning on having more than 20 of them and £31.50 seems a lot for 2 musicians; and I'd still be one short anyway. Any suggestions would be great, Thanks.
  2. I think I'm just going to take a Fungoid Cave-Shaman for Mystic Shield- better defense, chance of a CP each turn, 2 spells for one turn, all for 5 points more.
  3. That's true. Also remembered you can take a Mega-Gargant as well. Not sure how viable either of them are though. The Mega-Gargant is a Hero as well, so could be worth a look. I believe it's Bundo Whalebiter, a Kraken-eater.
  4. I see what you mean. The rule inside says "the charge phase"; on the back "Enemy charge phase". If the latter, then charging in their charge phase would by-pass it. I think I'll err on the side of caution until it's either faq'd or the new Battletome turns out to no longer contain that ability. Either solution may be some time coming. More time to paint Kruleboyz, I suppose.
  5. That's a shame. That leaves Teclis or Mountain Spirits then I suppose for Monster options. We may get more in the future, but that won't be any time soon.
  6. So long as the Endless Spell warscroll itself has no restrictions on who can cast it, then the Twins can cast it. In Cities, however, they would not get the +1 bonus to cast as that is an Allegiance Ability.
  7. Sharks are monsters. I've been considering them. At 125 pts, you can take 3 (and there's less trim!).
  8. It is listed in the Charge Phase section 11.2 along with "Forward to Victory". The first sentance of this section says " You can use these Command Abilities in the Charge Phase (see 6.1).". 6.1 says "Each Command Ability will say when it can be used". So "Unleash Hell" is restricted to use in the Charge Phase only.
  9. Yes, no more gold trim for a while, that'll be a relief. When I return to Lumineth, the trim will have become a distant memory.
  10. Well, for a start, it would negate "Unleash Hell" as that can only be done in the charge phase. You could use it to charge one unit, then use the movement phase to retreat towards another unit and pile in to them - esp with pigs or MK with a longer move. It could allow you to slingshot past a screen to hit a meatier target, or to get to an objective that was otherwise out of reach. you only require one model to be within half an inch when you charge, so the others can be towards your intended target within coherency, making the rereat distance shorter. It's a way of creating extra movement in the right circumstances. It's more of a tactic than a strategy, really. You don't even have to get within 3" with your pile-in, you only have to pile-in so you finish no further away from the nearest enemy unit - depends whether you want to fight anything or not. Hope that helps.
  11. Because you charged earlier in the turn before you retreated, which means you can still pile in in the combat phase.
  12. The Roos have taken me quite a while, I have to say. I think I need to take a break from painting Aelves after them and switch to something a little less exacting - like some of my Kruelboyz waiting to join the Waaagh. Paint up some of them and then return to LRL with more motivation. I need to change it up occasionally to keep it fun.
  13. I would just like to wish you luck painting 30 Windchargers and 10 Dawnriders. I have painted 5 of each (almost finished my Roos) and that is enough for me for a while. It looks like a fun list, but I'm not the person to ask on competitiveness.
  14. I agree it's a bit annoying. I was assuming that a new Realm Battlepack would be in the each new GHB, but, thinking about it, that would take more years than this edition will probably last. Perhaps we'll get a new Realm Battlepack every month or two, until we have all 7 (8?), then they'll put them all in a single book (for £?). I expect I'll just buy the WDs.
  15. I wonder if the next WD is giving us rules and core battalions for playing in Hysh, rather than Ghur - the article does say "for the Mortal Realms" (I'm guessing Hysh as they mention maps, etc). I don't think Gargents are getting their own core battalions, only a sub-faction.
  16. That's how it worked in 2.0, but I can't find any rule in the new edition that specifically says that allied units cannot benefit from faction Allegiance Abilities. Usually abilities are keyworded to restrict use, but this one isn't. If you could point me to the text in the new core rules where it states that allies cannot benefit from allegiance abilities, I'd be grateful because I've looked and can't find it anywhere. Thanks.
  17. You mention the three limitations. In this situation, the first one hasn't been invoked as the command hasn't been issued from any of my units. The second has been invoked, which means the unit given the ability cannot be the recipient of another command. The third limitation is entirely dependent on the interpretation of the word "use". My opinion is that for a command ability to be used, it has to be issued. The core battalions allow a unit to receive the ability, but the command isn't issued and therefore, in my opinion, hasn't been used. If I have a token for a free cup of coffee, I receive the coffee but they don't ask for the token, then I haven't used the token, even though I have received the coffee: which means I could give it to someone else for their free coffee. I think we shall just have to agree to disagree and eventually GW will give a definitive answer.
  18. But the point is the Command Ability hasn't been used, only the effect - I haven't issued the Command from any of my units. It's not the Command Ability that's producing the effect; it's the ability on the Battalion Warscroll that allows the effect to be used. It specifically says that the Command Ability hasn't been issued, and therefore, not used.
  19. Surely, if a unit receives the benefit of a Command Ability but the CA hasn't been issued, then it hasn't been used, has it? You can only use each CA once per phase, but it's only been received, not "used"; nobody has used it. In the Core Battalions, for example, you receive the "Command", but not the "Command Ability". What's the point of saying the Order hasn't been issued if you can't use it again anyway.
  20. I have a question; If I have allies, can I choose them when using the "Lightning Reactions" Allegience Ability? The ability only specifies units, not Lumineth Realmlord units. I was daydreaming about Eltharion and Gotrek together and hit upon this thought. If it is allowed, it might be useful with any Idoneth allies as well. What do people think?
  21. I'm assuming that the Hag is no longer usable since there are no points for Her in the new GHB. No points for any Forgeworld models. (I'd like to be wrong).
  22. Our allies are Orruk Warclans and Kruleboyz are in the new Warclans Battletome coming out next month - so, yes. I'm looking forward to adding more Troggoths to my herd! Pipped at the post!
  23. I'm just happy to get more Orruks, I don't really care which army they go in or how great they'll be at first. You can't go wrong with more Orruks.
  24. That's true. They are 125 pts now though, so hard to fit in. It seems the Loreseeker is no longer unique, though, so you can give them an artifact (5+ward save) and take more than one. They only went up 10 points.
  25. Yea, the list I was painting towards is now well over 2000, so adjustments are needed. I'm contemplating having a block of 15 Bladelords; with 2" reach, you can still get most in range and with smaller units around their Perfect Strike seems like pretty reliable damage. They can quite easily be on +1 save and have built-in spell resistance, and allows you to send a Wizard further forward. Given the hike on Wardens, 15 looks like a decent alternative to 30 wardens. Also, happy to see my faith in Iliatha has borne fruit.
