  1. Edit: Ah, never mind. A bit of tech wizardry and I was able to fix the link to still download the file! I can post the link if it's not an issue with the mods, it's simply a direct download for the PDF rather than trying to view or download the file in google drive itself! Thanks for the link, I'm going to read these all again now, some great bits in there! Ah sorry, the Reddit link is fine, its the direct link that seems to be dead, I get this:
  2. Probably, but either way its a shame, it was a great novel and I can't really believe that there wasn't enough interest in the story or lack of sales, not when people were crying out for more inclusion of the standard citizens of the realms in the early days of AoS or now with the CoS seemingly being popular enough to be getting a bunch of new rules soon. I would be just as surprised if it was just a case of interests shifting- nothing they have brought since the first book is too radically different, in fact I would have though that the new Broken Realms books would have tide in nicely with the characters. Oh well. Doesn't really matter, what ever happened it won't be completed now, some of the abandoned 40k stories are getting done at last or at least stand to be finished, what with the writers still working for BL. Sadly, looks like that link is dead. Shame, this is would have been really handy. Hopefully someone archived it and its still floating about somewhere else online.
  3. I'm still pretty annoyed that they canned The Eight lamentations, I've only brought a couple of AoS books since then and even then not bothered reading them. A couple of recent ones seemed interesting enough (Lady of sorrows for example) but I just can't be bothered to buy into more AoS books knowing that they could ditch any sequels. Whilst most of the books can be read and enjoyed individually, I find it much harder to invest time in to loads of individual novels for AoS, I've far too many other things that I have to read, I'd rather be hooked on a series for a couple of years (or more!). I was happy to invest into TEL, as it allowed for exploration without having to invest in new characters each time. GW seem to have replaced it with Gotrek, which I'm just not a fan off. The first Audiodrama was ok, production wise it was great but it just felt like a reshash of another old world character that was only dropped into the setting to cash in on that nostalgia. I still think that AoS would have been better off staying as clear as it could from as many old world characters that it could after release, but I get that its a bit of cash cow for GW. I previously enjoyed the Malign portents stories (even if they only put them into print for an American event which is a massive shame as I'd love to have a print version of them) so I'm hoping that there will be a few cool stories for this new campaign. Black Library seem to be putting out more shorts for AoS than actual series, so I'm curious if it will continue this way, or this is some sort of change phase for a 3rd Ed. I suspect that we could see radical changes to the AoS lore/books as a way of separating it even more from the old world release which is getting closer (slowly!) Perhaps TEL was a tad too close to old world Empire/human adventures for them to want to repeat it in for both 'universes'.
  4. Not really. Crappy service is still crappy service and I wouldn't wish there awful service on people in other countries. They are not missing out on that much tbh. The play matt is a4 and rubbish, yes the first issue is cheap but it about evens out, you might save a bit of cash on the whole lot of models, but you are over paying for the issues that are just paint and you could save 20%+ from shopping from independent stores. I only unique thing is the one stormcast and it's not like its unique enough to that special. A slightly different sculpt of a model that is available. I really don't see why so many Americans are desperate to spend more on postage to get this issue sent to them. It's only a bargain because we can pick it up in the shops at cost. Correct. You *can* opt out, but usually they send it too you and then its too late to opt out of it. A lot of people missed the noticed about the art book with conquest and got left with a book they really didn't want for a cost they didn't agree too (as far as I can remember as well, it was never advertised on the site or part of the original sub. People got the first notice in a letter with a delivery and by then the next payment had already been taken and they couldn't opt out)
  5. I've tried but the phone number they gave (before the CS move) for Ireland didn't work at all. They were always helpful in messages when they did answer- it just never produced any results. I've brought a few copies of the first issue, as my local store gets millions sent but never sells very many. We live rural and have a couple of newsagents around. The bigger of the two newsagents refuses to push their magazines due to the supply problem and customer service problem. I won't be buying the others though. I don't see it improving, new CS team or not. I was chasing this for months last year and they switched teams in December and I'm still chasing it over a month on. I've emailed gw again, I get that they don't have a lot of input but it is their name on the sets and they are pushing these items. Its bad on their image. The internet is full of horror stories of the two 40k ones now, yet people are still going mad that this isn't available in their country- they really are not missing out on anything.
  6. I mentioned it in the other magazine thread as well, but don't be fooled by cheap plastic. If you can buy them in the shop, then great. I'll buy as many as I can get directly from stores. But I'd never take another Hachette. It's embarrassing that GW are still using them. They are a dreadful company to deal with. I'm still chasing books that I paid for last April for the 40k legends. They blamed my lost deliveries on a problem that was stopping books reaching my country but told me several times that the problem was fixed. Then at the end of the month they stopped returning messages and emails and still no sign of the books. I had to go to GW custom services directly to get them to force them to reply to me. They replied just hours after I did that, but only the once and nothing else again since, which was a month ago. Take a look at the disaster that is conquest magazine for 40k. There facebook is plague with people having to scream blue murder to get some sort of response from them. It's a massive shame, as I had a Dredd sub with them a few years ago and it was perfect, not a single issue really. But the 40k ones have been the worst thing I've ever brought. I won't risk another sub with them.
  7. 10mm for warmaster. I'd have killed for 6mm warmaster back in the day. I loved Epic and never understood why they didn't bring out a small scale WFB. Then warmaster came out at 10mm scale and I was like this is great, its just a tad too big. It's a shame warmaster never really took off as it would have been a perfect way of keeping WFB around even now. Big massed battles are amazing at small scale and its so much cheaper to collect (until you get hooked at least!) I'm far too heavily invested in 6mm fantasy now to ever go back so in a way I hope it isn't going to be a warmaster return (even if I do secretly want it to be!) I dont think they;d do that though, too many larger scale fans would be furious. No, AT is quarter 40k scale, which put its in a weird place. Its kind of 7mm scale and also what is know in the Epic community as 6mm truescale. At least you didn't say it was 8mm, that is a whole can of worms! lol Not good enough, You need to go back in time and ask this. If you refuse, then you will be required to attend every other open day you want to go to and bring us more info! Thanks for the intel though. I'm really hoping it is a HH style campaign book set. There are too many other good options for me to to switch out from them back to pure WFB models and rules now. Best thing GW can do is offer the things that you can't get else where- gorgeous campaign books and maps of the old world and a handful of really nice models for each race. I'd say a duel set of infantry, one duel set hero, one mounted set, one cannnon or troll sized monster and one duel build big kit. I still think it was a bad idea announcing it so early with nothing to show. It was clear they just want people ot not be spending so much on other ranges which are growing in popularity and probably hope those holding out for WFB will spend on AoS in the meantime. But I can see people being massively annoyed by the time we finally get some real idea of what is coming.
  8. Only another 495 emails to go! If you don't hear back then go direct to GW CS. It annoys them, you can hear it in there tone when they reply, but it does get you a response back much faster than any other way. I've spent most of the year chasing them on all their official channels (except by the phone, as the Irish CS number they gave out doesn't work). Gw will push your message on to hachette, saying they have no direct control over them, but hachette answer back within hours when going via GW. I've even seen stories of GW CS taking over the problem completely and getting it solved for people. It shouldn't be this way and I can see GW trying to put a stop to it but it's their name and products being mishandled. They have to step in if they want people to remain customers.
  9. A little while back (just after the release of Soul wars in fact) I made the decision that I would not be buying any more Editions of warhammer. I loved AoS 1st edition and would have stuck happily with that, had they not cut its life short. It was full of potential, despite people screaming blue murder that it was useless as a game (The change came at what I guess was GW wanting to go where the easier money is and I can't blame them for that) But 2nd Edition (Soul wars) came along and the new starter set was fantastic (good value, great nighthaunt minis, gorgeous core book, probably the nicest set of cheap dice in a GW set!) and along came all the new battletomes, spells & terrain, which were also really good (for the most part, there are some fantastic releases but we also got a couple of real bad stinkers, but still usable) and I said what the hell, I'd collect 2nd edition and stop there*. It wasn't so different to 1st edition but was about to get a whole host of battletomes (I've not counted, but it does feel like we have had the most updated battletomes/books compared to any other edition of fantasy) so I took the gamble that they would honour what they promised (which looking at the release scheduled for this year, they pretty much will have by summer. Even if a couple of books only score them half marks!) But now that leaves me close the point where I have no more reason to keep buying books anything. After next weeks release(s) there is only really one more book I'd want and like to see updated (please update space lizards to a gloomspite level release!) and my opponent will want the new High Pansies Pointy Aelves. But I don't want stop buying new things for a game I love(even if it has dropped out of favour with me these past couple of months). But there is just no reason for me to edition swap any more. We hardly get any games in (due to me returning to school and travelling 4-5 hours a day to attend, thankfully I have 9 month break from that now and only a year after) and nothing we've found in the rules so far that have stopped us enjoying exactly what we have been (we've been playing skirmish exclusively and just house ruled out the restrictions and points). Even if we did come across anything game/immersion breaking, house rules would fix most problems. But campaign books keep me invested. It doesn't matter what edition they are for, they can be tailored to suit any edition or ruleset, with very little work. They'll keep me buying new characters or conversion material, even after I have brought one or more of every unit I'd ever want. (I've been thinking of running WFB blood in the bad lands but set in the realms instead as we've yet to run that campaign, in either game) I had hoped that we would have seen a follow up to malign portents (to the point that I pestered GW asking for a follow up, as did many others) but it wasn't to be. (It is such a shame that most of the malign portents fiction will vanish over time, as most of it was online only and I'm sure they could have made some more money giving us a MP flavour book as the follow up but oh well) I've zero interest in the bonereapers as they are, they don't appeal to me as an army. Some of the models are nice and the ones in the feast of bones set will be donated to a not-tomb kings army I'll build for my opponent. I'm not taken by the chaos-undivided in AoS- I much prefer the more grim, northern styled chaos of WFB and love AoS take on nurgle way too much. So nothing about the new book really jumps out to me, but its the sort of content I want to see much, much more of in AoS. So I'll be ordering it in hopes that its popular enough to encourage GW to keep making them. Especially since GW have switched from making very small, unique (almost niche) style army books to the (what seems to be more popular) soup style books. Compare fyreslayers to Cities or the Skaven pestilence Vs last years 'Skaven'. I much preferred the smaller takes on more unique forces and wish they had kept the soup type tomes to the grand alliance books. But these campaign books would be the perfect place to explore smaller, unique armies. They could use them as a way to release more wild and out there ideas that don't need or can't have a full model release (Imagine a sky pirates campaign book, encouraging to convert everything from existing models or perhaps a skaven civil war book, where we might finally see the bombardier get a stand alone release) I'm hoping the new book is popular, but so far seen very little mention of it anywhere. Anyone else excited for it? Would you have rather seen a different line up for the book? How do other people feel on seeing more campaign books? How often would you buy them? * There is always the chance that GW do stick with what seemed like the plan originally- no more editions and just yearly updates, but even with all the crazy things I do believe, this is definitely not one of them! Edition change is too much of a guaranteed money maker in this hobby. We will see a 3rd edition of AoS, if not in name but in nature.
  10. This. I have zero problems with them with my Judge Dredd they did a couple of years back. They went out of their way to fix the only issue I ever had and even then that was nothing more than a delivery not being stopped from going to my old address in time. They even sent a replacement book for a book that I had no idea had an issue. However I took the 40k legends books out and they have been a nightmare to deal with. Been chasing them since last April to sort out my sub, books have not been arriving and only ever make it here when they send replacement parcels. I've not had a regular delivery since march. Kept paying for books as they kept saying that the problem was sorted (apparently the issue was books being sent to this country were being returned, yet they managed to get here fine when they sent replacements) It's gotten so bad with them (Often a month goes by with out a reply and you have to public ask they respond to PMs on their facebook wall before they actually do) that I had went directly to GW, which had them emailing me hours later (hilarious). Trouble is they (apparently) switched customer service companies and now I have to start the process all over again as the old CS obviously didn't pass my last emails to them along. I'd stopped paying for books ages ago now, but they still owe me either several books or a refund. I've seen even worse horror stories on their conquest mag facebook, where they have sent debt collectors to people that stop paying as they were not receiving books. If you can pick up copies of the mag in stores, grab as many as you want/need/can. But I'd advise anyone against taken a sub out. Take a look at the 40k conquest facebook page to get an idea of how hated Hachette are. Shame, as like I said, the Dredd book was superb and I thought they were pretty decent back then.
  11. I'm starting to wonder if the three year wait time isn't just as much to do with miniatures design, but more so with the current supported game cycles. As someone mentioned previously, LotR could be up for licensing soon, they have promised support for warcry, kill & necromunda for *various* amount of years (I'd say three years left on all of them seems pretty fair seeing how they run their games for the last 30 years) The HH is going to be in it's death throes by then (at a rate of about three books a year and there is bound to be a wait on the last couple) and AoS is going to be either due an update or just had one. I do wonder if they will pick up a chunk of WFB history which has either never been covered, or has room to expand beyond what ever novels where already set in that era. I'm trying not to read too much into the HH comparison, as it probably is only meant to have been in reference to both of them being set 'historically' to their current games, but a 50+ book series set in the WFB, I really can't tell if I'd love it or go mad trying to get through it. After all, I've been stuck on the same book of the HH for a year now and this is the 2nd time I gotten stuck trying to get through the books. I don't ever see me reaching the end of it at this point. But damn, would I buy every hardback if they did that. I'm a sucker for books! I've seen a few games offering 2d terrain in this past year. I am also not a fan. At that point I'd just not bother playing and stick with video games or something. The whole appeal to me for fantasy wargaming is the narrative spectacle. 2d terrain works for an intro game but looks dreadful for anything else. I'm hoping what ever GW do with this new version, they do what ever they need to, to be able to sell it but keep it as far away from a lot of the common ideas that populate the current run of games. 2D terrain, cards, tokens, DLC style rules might be popular but I actively dislike them.
  12. Start Collecting: Giants. It's just the current giant kit, repackaged and at a different price point. The regular kit will still be sold. The battletome will mention all sorts of giant variants, but we won't ever see a kit for any of them. 🤣As silly as I'm being, I'd actually still be totally ok with this and would have to have a small (tall) force of them for laughs!
  13. If WFB is going to tear your community apart, then any new release is going too. It is sad to see someone that sees a renewed interested in the hobby and finds it to be a kick in the gut. The more people buying from GW means they will keep all the games running longer. It's better than some of the other ways companies (including GW) are trying to increase their sales and tap into other demographics. At least old world players already have a passion for the hobby, it's not a fad for them. Whilst I get that people will be worried that WFB is going to steal some of the player base, if baffles me how you say this and still come to this conclusion. They are clearly not going to be the cause of AoS losing its community. The Three years warning here isn't a cliff edge either. And its not even like they are cancelling AoS, but at least you are weary that AoS *might* suffer as a result, as you have seen them remove games before and know what to expect. The end times is a poor example as they never made it clear that this was the end of WFB during its run. I think most people expected the setting to be reset (as they had done before after a big end of the world campaign) or that the shift in the timeline would happen and the next edition would be about the reshaped old world map and we would go back to a stand-off with chaos, but just a couple of years after the final battle. Whilst I do represent probably the absolutely smallest part of this community(I only play AoS skirmish, narratively. I've continued to paint and *not find time to* play WFB. Many of my warbands & projects are designed to play in multiple systems- including things like my post-apoc AoS/40k skaven warband, which didn't go down well in AoS or 40k groups. I only play at home. I'm still running games with the first GHB. I never play tournaments or at stores and never even bothering to keep up with FAQs and updates) I still buy almost every AoS release- currently, but I won't be once this edition is 'complete'. The last book I need is a new seraphon book and I'd be ok with also seeing a new KO book, but after that I have nothing left to buy for AoS and decided a long while back now that this would be the last edition of any warhammer game I'd buy into and so I could go into this edition and buy almost everything. I no longer see the point in chasing rules every couple of years. I don't play any where near enough to run the rules enough to boredom and there is certainly enough scope with the battletomes we currently have to never need to buy a new army and still have plenty of new things to convert, paint up and try out. I'm sure I'm not the only one that will happily continue to play (what will be) retro rules in the future. Same as many people have continued to play WFB over the last few years. At least with the old world being renewed, some of us will stay invested in GW products for a little longer. I'm already spending more money on alternative models for AoS than I am for official lines. Bringing back the old world is one of only two ways GW can keep me buying into new games and keeping an interest in what ever the current AoS edition is doing when it gets here. They have already stopped making the things I wanted to see more of for AoS and that was long before this announcement. (and even then, I'm likely to shelve any new rulebooks I end up with and stick with 6th or 8th edition) I really don't understand why so many people don't just ask their groups to play a game they like, even if it's not currently supported. I get that pick up games are harder, but if you are playing with regular people (and many of the comments of doom and gloom suggest that they do, being they say they are part of an AoS community) then surly people will be happy to play various games, as long as you offer them the same courtesy in return. If they do ditch AoS, it's simply a case of setting up one night AoS, one night WFB. If they refuse, then AoS was probably never going to be their game in the long run.
  14. Oh for sure, yes! For the most part, goblin heroes still remain great but I'd love a redone plastic Grom. I love the original model a lot but it's just so small and far too compact!! I'd love to see it redone with a chariot fit for the goblin king! The elven dragons would be another set I'd like too see redone. The dark elves plastic dragon is lovely and even that is pretty old now. I found, surprisingly, after painting 6mm exclusively for a few years, I learnt more about painting and it helped increase my skill in 28mm scale a lot more than any amount of practice I put into the larger stuff before. And my 6mm stuff was never the stuff of high legends! There are some truly mind blowing 6mm painters out there. But 6mm (and 10mm) can look just as good with a wash and a drybrush as larger scale stuff does. The amount of detail on new 6mm models is insane. I've even managed to paint eyes on some of my orcs & trolls at that scale, though it's not something I'd do all the time as it would drive you insane! But compatibility is the main issue. I'd love warmaster to come back, but I very much doubt they would, not at first at least. There would be an outcry of hatred if GW did that- I'm sure people would feel they had been led on.
  15. An Epic scale warhammer fantasy game is all I've ever wanted. But yes, AoS really would suit a small scale game. It's a shame it's unlikely to happen. Even if they did I'd presume they would go 10mm as too not push away the warmaster crowd. I already have a huge collection of 6mm fantasy and I've been really tempted to push all my other projects out of the way and finally get a lot of it painted. I'd love to run something like war of the beard or the battle for black fire pass in 6mm with some truly spectacular terrain. Godbeasts and cogforts would be amazing to see on the table in small scale. Certainly 6mm AoS is something that makes me want to get a 3D printer even more (though I'm getting close to getting one anyway for Epic)
  16. The trick is too only every buy models and games that you are happy owning and either have a use for now or will remain happy owning forever onwards. If you buy into all the new releases and expect it to still be current a year down the line, you are fooling yourself. Gw haven't worked like that for a long time. Which is exactly why I've not touched new necromunda big sets. They have been awful cash grabs. The first one was out of date in weeks and I suspect that this new one will follow the same path. But I have brought some of the gang boxsets, as the models will last me forever and had some bits in there for other games I play. I'll treat the new game the same way. Nice book with lots of lore & maps- instant buy. Great models- instant buy with the possibility of buying a 2nd set to store for adding to in the future (in case of models being removed). Rules or expensive add ons which could be out of date as quickly as the first FAQ comes out- ignore it. Add on parts or extras for models that are NEEDED for the game (like forgeworld weapon kits)- Also ignore it, scratch building and proxying is fine for me. Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression the other big sell of this set was that the models were unique to this box only and wouldn't be seen again. One of several reasons I choice to skip them and go with an alternative release. I'd actually be really curious to read a paper or documentary on this phenomenon. I don't recall it being like this 15+ years ago, but then social media wasn't so readily available back then so we didn't get to see so much of what we do now. I'd be really curious if this is just something that has come along because of the modern age or if it really is a mental condition. It is utterly bizarre. I've never understood why people are so attached to companies like blizzard or GW, yet probably buy their vacuum cleaners and toasters with as a little care as you'd might expect them too.
  17. While it never really bothered me, the old world is not as advanced as the realms, though the model lines for AoS never really did the lore justice, being that they just chucked models from the old world into the new setting with out updating them. The problem is with the lore and style, rather than a problem with the models themselves. The magic and craziness of the realms doesn't really fit the grim dark grounded in reality psudo-European setting. Almost everything can be explained away with 'a wizard did it', but it would be hard to convincingly have giant cities on the backs of worms in the old world. They would be no chance of the small villages of the empire surviving when travelling cities could squish them with out even noticing them. This again doesn't affect the model lines too much, but there are some WFB 'purists' that won't want to see some of the more over the top designs retro fitted back into the game. (Personally, I'd decided long before this announcement to happily square base my new Morathi model!) Yeap, this is where they could also shine! I love the skaven but this years AoS release was one of my least favourites, I've not even opened my battletome yet I was that disappointed. I'd definitely like to see some of the old models redone in plastic and they would work for both eras. They could even release duel kits (similar to how daemon kits work for both 40k & fantasy) with a couple of weapon or options that work for one game or the other. I will have a chuckle if they just rebox the old empire kits that just reboxed for AoS, back again for the old world. I can imagine their is some warehouse trolls questioning their will to live right about now.
  18. A little lazy I know- But I'm going to repost what I posted in the rumour thread as the rumour thread will return to rumours soon and the old world talk will continue on from here. I've slept on the announcement and what I wrote yesterday remains how I feel about the whole thing. My biggest gripe remains the unrest in the communities, which is the very last paragraph of my comment. I'm even more annoyed at GW for this (and only this) than I was yesterday. I woke up to see a torrent of abusive threads in what was meant to be hobby groups. I really dislike the Us Vs Them attitude this hobby brings. I saw it in when fantasy was canned and the fan base hated on AoS. I've seen it in the AoS community with Matched/points Vs Narrative/Creative (This is one of main reasons I disliked a lot of this years AoS). I stopped being involved with another fantasy game due to the fan base attacking anything that wasn't 'pure'. And now we have come full circle to seeing AoS fans attacking WFB and saying that the old world should stay gone. (I'm also not keen on seeing WFB fans treating the announcement as them 'winning' or having 'defeated aos', But I can understand the want for them to celebrate something they have stayed passionate for over the years and gotten back!) The only additional thing that I would have added since yesterday is this is a perfect chance for them to add the vampire coast stuff to the game! New zombie/monster models would work just as well in both systems and this would a be a good lead in product- total war really increased the vampire coasts popularity and it would be silly not to cash in on that! (give me that sweet plastic necrofex kit!) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a lot to unpack in this announcement (Which is surprising as it was just a logo!). As someone that has continued to enjoy WFB & loved the first three years of AoS (this year has been ok, but I'm not impressed with many of the releases), I'm not actually as excited over the announcement as someone who loves WFB should be (Though I'm not going to shout and rant and rage on facebook either!) but it was better than I'd actually expected it be and the announcement & tease today was far better done than yesterdays. The good- The old world is back! We might finally see the battle for blackfire pass get its release! (That book looked awesome before they canned it!) I'm still happily painting old world armies which now might see new models (and I have just enough to paint up at least 3 more models in this unit before the release! 🤣 ) More models for all the games! Hoping to see reprints/remakes of classic books/campaigns, with modern quality books & terrain! New fiction set in the old world! I'd love more WFB horror to come out! (Hell, I'd even try my hand at writing some!) Hopefully a return of old (or at least new versions of) kits they got rid off, which have no good or easy alternatives (High elves, Tomb kings) Mordheim might come back! The bad- We just don't need it. The old world lives on in plenty of other games and model ranges. WFB rules are cheap 2nd hand (or even cheaper than that!) and there was never anything stopping anyone from continuing to play it. I'd hate to see them sweep away all the fan made continuations & armies books put out since 2015. It seems a little obnoxious to announce this not long after putting out CoS, as it was a bit of a refugee camp for peoples old world collections! Announcing it three years in advance seems way off. Only reason they might be doing that is that they have (finally) noticed that others have filled the void WFB left and they want to try and stop some of that money going into those other games, possible before those games gain even more popularity (and it will be harder to get people to come back) It's going to break up communities even more than they already are. Already arguments are breaking out between people that hate/love one game or the other. Once again GW is catering to the loudest (and often most obnoxious) parts of the fan base (Or at least they appear to be, which is enough to give validation to these people. I still think they don't really care what people ask for but are happy to let them think that when they release something as it looks good on them) Backwards character placement. There will be a whole host of characters (& places) added to the old world from AoS lore. I wasn't keen on them adding so many characters from the old world into AoS, but people do seem to enjoy it & for the most part, those that did return made sense (as much as sense can be made in these universes!). But I can see it not working as well in reverse. It will be just like the good old days- Only far more expensive! Less resources pumped into AoS Less money going into AoS over the next three years (Why would I buy the fancy new AoS army next year now, knowing I might not want to use it in WFB two years down the line) If AoS is the "most successful fantasy game ever", then why are they not concentrating on that. I've been saying for the past year it sounds like no one in GW really cares for AoS and they were just making the most of what they had been left with. GW tried this before- trying to support too many games at the same time. It didn't end well and has taken them to now to bounce back from the culling of their lines. The biggest thing I take away from this announcement is that GW do everything they do for money, but don't seem to care about the ramifications on the community. As hobbyists/a community are first loyalty should always be with each other- we are after all the ones we game with, talk too, hang out and get to know. But I know full well that all hell is going to break loose over the coming weeks/months/ years. Anyone with strong opinions has it it in for the other game and it's going to make the both games unpleasant to talk about online. I think this might be the time I final ditch both forums & social media for good and continue to enjoy the hobby in my home. I already grumble quite a bit about releases and I could see myself easily getting caught up in rows over painting/bases/games and taking away time from my actual hobby.
  19. I've just started an Albion army, using warlord games models. But I'd go mad for some new plastic Albion giants! I love the old metal ones but they are just so small now!
  20. There is a lot to unpack in this announcement. WFB rules are cheap 2nd hand (or even cheaper than that!) and there was never anything stopping anyone from continue playing it. I'd hate to see them sweep away all the fan mad continuations & armies books put out since 2015. 21. Yeah, I'm not a fan of this 'tease' either. It's clearly been done to provoke a reaction and gain a bit of internet buzz, which usually means that what ever it is isn't actually any good. A good hobby product should sell it self and doesn't need this kind of sneak/tease advertising. All this aims to do is to provoke a reaction. If it's anything less than a legacy version of WFB then some people are going to be cross and feel cheated, even if they are the ones that convinced themselves that it was coming. There is going to be a lot of disappointed people, come 3pm tomorrow, and then a lot of people complaining about those people moaning the day after. It's stirring up unrest in hobby groups and it's not good for the community.
  22. I suspect that if they are returning that most, if not all the range will be redone from scratch. I'd have thought that some of the plastics would have been kept on sale otherwise and for the whole lot of go off sale, I'd be very surprised to see any of them return. I hope if it is a complete overhaul, that they keep the same aesthetic as before, as it pretty much is their main selling point. If it looses that Egyptian/desert style, I'm sure a lot of people will be really disappointed and the forums will be hell with complaints. I would love to see the old plastics return, even if it only in a start collection set for a handful of returning kits. They were one of the armies I've always kicked myself for not picking up, especially since the misses is hooked on anything with an Egyptian theme and being able to knock out a painted TK army for her would certainly ease my painting Q, even if it's not shortening it!
  23. Not really. We've already had a couple of books with both Freeguild and Elves that are on the cover. But neither have gotten new battletomes yet. It is of course possible they will come, GW have pretty much confirmed that they plan to get battletomes out for all forces that will remain in AoS. But nothing to say they won't remove any of the models before then. Gloomspite gave us a Grot battletome but we lost most of the gits, included a couple of newish models.
  24. About a year ago I caught myself painting the underneath/inside of a Epic scale Rhino which I was then about to glue to a base. I realised I had been painting like this for such a long time I wasn't even noticing that the bits were hidden. So I've been trying to stop myself doing it and will often dry fit pieces repeatedly whilst painting now to make sure I don't need to paint certain parts. I have caught myself out on my Ironclad though, as I started painted all the hidden dials and details before my realisation and have to finished it the same way or I'll notice, which is one of the reasons it still on my desk and not finished even though I brought it when it came out. There are so damn many dials and buttons on the thing! One day I'll power through the last of it!
  25. I'd suspect that would be the pre-order day and it would come out the last sat of the month then. Still in the time frame and what better way to get people to snap it up, by having everyone there share the low quality photos and talk about how OP the warband they happened to be playing on the day is! I'd not put it past GW, but having the release day the same day as people getting their first look at it seems a bit odd. If that's the release day, then we will have seen the pre-order the week before and anything else they put out on the game the week before, meaning that by the open day the news of the game would be 'old hat'. Still would be the first chance to play the game, but I think the buzz might have died off a bit if it's been on the community page all week.
