  1. @daviseford I spoke to you briefly. I was the guy who mentioned toggling the rule's effect on/off to have a more compact layout. Glad you had a good time. You were talked about on the latest episode of the Wide World of Wargaming podcast as well! I will certainly be utilizing your awesome site in the future! See you at next years NOVA!
  2. James O brien ran the 6th place list. He is in my gaming orbit. Played against him a couple times. He is a REALLY skilled player. The 7th place list I played against in the thursday NOVA aos RTT before the GT, and it is a NASTY list. potential generate 16 cp per turn!! then clawlord buffs the stormvermin with +bajillion attacks. Lucky for me, he failed some key rolls, and my chaos marauders tore apart the stormvermin with mortal wounds before he was able to buff them up.
  3. I played against this list in the thursday RTT (which I won :D) before the GT. It really isnt boring at all, IMO. And I play against Nighthaunt regularly as my buddy plays them as a main. Its really cool how he is able to retreat and charge in all the time, constantly shifting and counter chargin new threats. Made it very difficult to pin down. LUCKILY for me I caught him on total commitment because had he been able to bring up from the grave, I would have been in serious trouble!
  4. I am the Nurgle player that played William round one at NOVA. It was a great game. Something he didnt mention was that he had 100+ depravity points by round 3 LOL!! because my list was 30 blightkings. My only real chance at winning that game was to make the charge on the flank with 10 blightkings and gutrot. With a 4+ roll, gutrot can really neuter a large character by taking away a weapon profile. But I didn't get the charge. His army looks flippin amazing. Each keeper is completely converted. His list is killer. I play against a slaanesh player semi-regularly but William is incredibly skilled at piloting his list. Was a GREAT game! My nurgle list included a contorted epitome as an ally. Since we were playing in aqshy (which has inferno blades and stoke rage) I decided a double caster/unbind with RRs was worth 200 points! Anyway here is the epitome I converted up using the greasus goldtooth model combined with the mirror from the bloodwrack shrine, and rouge trader era nurglings. The coins I individually cut from greenstuff! I this as a symbol of excess of wealth and vanity (note the reflection in the mirror), that also touched on nurgle as a symbol of stagnation.
  5. If you subscribe to BCP you can see every army list in the world for any event that uses BCP to run the event. Which is a lot. I subscribe and can look at the most competitive lists for any event. Its awesome!
  6. Well everyone, I tried my best. Ran into some REALLY stiff competition, as expected and didnt do as well as I wanted. I went 3-2 (no minor wins/losses), coming in 18th overall, 22nd in battle points. I got nominated for Best Painted army, so coming in top ten there. My five opponents were Slaanesh (3 keeper godseekers - the eventual winner of the event for both overall and battle points), KO/ballista/Hurricanum build, Ironjaws, Changehost, and Legion of Azghor. William Soehailli was my first opponent. What can I do against Slaanesh 3 keeper list on Knife to the Heart? Try my best but I straight up got smashed. He out dropped me and gave me first turn, as expected. I tried to stall the inevitable face beating as long as possible. Ran my 40 marauders up onto a piece of mystical terrain (so a 5+/5++/6++/6++) and charged the screen (hellstriders) of two of the keepers. I thought with a combination of 3 DPRs and RR 6s to hit I could keep them locked for maybe 2 turns while I got into a better position. I also tried to get the third keeper in combat with gutrot and 10 kings. Gutrot and the kings both failed the 8" charges. He only killed 6 marauders in that first combat phase. But he got the double turn, double piled in with a bunch of stuff, including charging the marauders with demonettes, crippled the slime fleet, and eventually started slaughtering blightkings. He got priority on turn three, retreated the keeper with thermal rider cloak behind my lines and summoned demonettes onto my objective after I had nothing left. Game. Not much I can do when he had 90+ depravity on turn 3. Second game against a KO/Hurricanum/Ballista build on Total Conquest. He turtled on one objective and left 10 arkanaut compant on the other. After feeling a bit burned from the first game, I tried to go for the throat right from top of turn one. I buffed the EFF out of the marauders and went for it. Stoke rage, inferno blades and blades of putrefaction all on maruaders. Got a good run roll of 6, so they moved 13"/24" seperation. So only needed a 9" charge (+2" charge from musician and stoke rage). Would have been cool to see how much damage they could do. (perfect storm would have been them hitting on 3s RR1s, wounding on 2s, doing mortals on 5s and 2 damage per attack LOL) but I failed the charge. He double turned me. and focused his entire army into the marauders. Battleshock brought them down to only a handful+ and then started whittling the blightkings. My kings FINALLY made it across the board (a VERY timely double turn for me) and started smashing with 20 or so blightkings. Major win. REALLY wanted to end the day 2-1. Got paired up against possibly the nicest human being on the planet, Correy Reece from Tennessee and his Ironjaws army. Mission was Shifting objectives. He had an Ironfist and Ironsunz build. Maw Crushers, 20 ardboys, 15 brutes, 6 gore gruntas, chanta, and shaman. He took first turn, hand of gorked his ardboyz in my face. everything moved to the center of the board and took all the objectives. I buffed everything up, charged everything, had GREAT positioning. Marauders with blades, sliced up the aard boys. They battleshocked off. But failed to take any objectives. He "WAAGGHH bombed" gave everything +5 attacks!!! I was able to survive the insane amount of damage. He was RR6s to hit/wound, and multiple DPRs. The maw crusha and brutes (I boxed them out with terrain well) only took out 5 blightkings. WELL HOLY DICE ROLLS, those 5 kings (buffed with RR wounds, +1 to wound, and inferno blades) took out a full health maw krusha in one round. LOTS of 6s off 15 dice, put about 20ish wounds into him, he saved all but like 7 or 8 but they were 2 damage a piece. BOOM. I doubled him and we called it. I still had not scored any VPs LOL but it was clear I would have just sat on objectives as most of his army was gone Day two first game was against Change Host on Focal Points. He did was change host does and sent purple sun, pendulum, gnashing jaws, gravetide, maelstrom, and palisade right in my face. Locked my army down in my own deployment zone, summoned a ****** ton of blue horrors and just outplayed me. I had the LoC on one wound for two turns!!! but he was -1/-2 to hit in combat and couldn't plunk that last wound off. I also forgot a HUGE charge because we were rushing to fit in a round, started the first combat, and after my hit rolls asked if I could charge in ten kings that MIGHT have been able to win me the game.. but he wouldn't allow me to. Very frustrating game for me. Change Host is great and picking where and when the fights happen. And I just couldn't ever get into good position. Fun game... just that build is stifling to play against. Last game was against....Legion of azgorh? Wow. All second edition models. Super cool dude. Duality of death. I was going to outdrop him. So my plan was to grab both, but focus on one for the game. I sent 40 marauders and warshrine after one. And EVERYTHING else for the other. He sent 3 skullcracker war engines after the marauders. Luckily gutrot and 10 kings got the charge off and stalled two of them in combat for a few turns. So the marauders one objective for 1/2 turns or so. 20 kings, epitome, harbinger had to survive 12 bull centaurs, drazzgoth, then bull taurox general. The epitome was rolling hot and making them all strike LAST. 20 kings, did work and slashed their way through them. but more importantly survived and RACKED UP the points. He wiped the marauders off the board and started charging in the war engines, but I just threw up summoned demon roadblocks and he couldn't get to me. Had an amazing time. GREAT game. 18th overall/22nd battle wasnt where I REALLY wanted to be. 3-2 was my "benchmark" but winnign the RTT on thursday was a thrill. Sorry for the long post! Looking ahead to LVO!
  7. IF I were to drop 5 kings, I would also drop festus and the balewind an entirely and take a GUO. Im very weird and obsessive compulsive about NOT taking minimum sized units. I dont know why. Perhaps is more about taking only 5 blightkings because taking 20 marauders for 120 points, or 10 plaguebois for 120 points isnt as unappealing.
  8. Epitome was good. I don’t think the strike last mechanic is as strong for nurgle armies because of so many forms of resiliency. Whether that’s through a unit with butt loads of wounds (blightkings) or DPR (harbinger, demons), or debuffs (plaguebearers). I needed something that can at least put up a fight in the magic phase against Gitz, seraphon, Lon, etc.. So I really value the casting aspect of the warscroll. Unfortunately light and shade on realms aren’t particularly strong but I still utilized some of those spells. LOVED the light of battle spell (inspiring presence in spell form) on my marauders!! Two weaknesses in my list. No dedicated home guard unit. And no extra CP..mainly for inspiring presence. Not sure how to fix that other then swapping festus and balewind for 10 chaos warriors (which I’m not going to do now because blades has such a game changing potential!! Especially in shyish where the command ability is +1 attack for a unit!!!!!) but I’ll just have to make those choices as best I can. And it depends on really who my opponent is for sure!
  9. OK! Well that was completely unexpected. I participated in the 36 player RTT at NOVA yesterday. Ended up going 3-0, coming in 1st overall and winning the damn thing! Came in 4th for battle points. Top four for battle points were: Daughters of Khaine, Slaanesh, Slaanesh, Nurgle (me), and FEC (feast day). My games were great. First was against Matt Obringer from BWG group in PA. VERY competitive group. Mission was scorched earth. He played a skaven list, with like this CP generating farm using Thaanquol's command (that gives three heros the ability to use the generic commands for free), and then the verminus allegiance ability to get a cp back on a 5+, the brooch, and the master manipulator trait. So every time Thaanqoul would use his command, he could potentially get 16 CP generated!! Then the clawlord goes nuts with his command giving +1 attack using all those CP (because its uncapped). Luckily for me his rolls were poo and he left the stormvermin unscreened. Marauders with blades crashed into them and took them out. I took the lead and just summoned to zone out and didnt yield any ground. Second game was against a DOPE nighthaunt list. The type of list I would play if I played nighthaunt. LOTS of bladegeist revenants. 30 of them. 30 grimghasts, some chain rasps, shroud guard battalion, reikenor, dreadblade harrows, and knight of shrouds. On total commitment so I lucked out there. I butt rushed him with the marauders on an objective guarded by chain rasps. He attacked my weak flank with the 30 grimghasts. I left only 10 unsupported kings (hubris) and they murdered them. I countered with 10 fully buffed kings and took them out in one go. Rolling 11 6's on 30 attacks will do that o_O. He had a hail mary at the end with 5 bladegiests on a 9" charge on festus guarding my home objective but rolled an 8 for the charge with no cp. Last game on table 1 was against a thunderquake star host seraphon list on Three places of power. OOOOF tough matchup. Two bastillions ran up and parked in front of the objective, flanked by terrain. Engine of the gods and Slaan moved behind them onto the objectives. I thought the game was over then and there. I took the third objective, and tried my damndest to best those bastiladon to death and break through. COULDN'T. Tried outflanking with gutrot and charging the slaan. Finally hacked through the skink wall, made it to the slaan, started working on him.. until the rippers swooped in and got him. Ended up finishing off the Slaan with stage 6 cycle. Festus dispelled his balewind and ran over there. Took a bastiladon solar beam to the face. survived. managed to SOMEHOW claw my way back to tie him on VP's. And since the only unit he killed was gutrot (one blightking of ten had ONE wound left HAH) I took the minor win. Looking forward to the GT on Saturday.
  10. Oh absolutely! Especially with realm spells a full go! No extra command points makes me nervous the most. But I’ll work around it best I can. 11. I would only use glotts command when the situation warrants it. Suppose you got blades off on the plaguebois, and it didn’t get unbound..that’s when you use it! But otherwise.. while an extra 7-10 attacks on blightkings sounds awesome it would probably equate to 5-7 damage. Perhaps if you whole army is in combat you can pop it..but that 5++ save is so critical to keeping your stuff alive and keeping key components of your opponents force locked in place. Don’t drop the harbinger for a demon prince 😁 (from a competitive standpoint) @Dreadmund Didn’t know you lived across the pond! I live about 10 mins from the NOVA venue ahah. I’ll be sure to post up some pictures. And updates. Doing the RTT tomorrow as a warm up and gt on Saturday/sun!
  12. @Percivael I forgot to mention that while the harbinger’s command doesn’t apply to the plaguebearers, he is a NURGLE DEMON HERO and DOES ACTIVATE the locus of fecundity for them to RR saves one 1. So as long as Hatbinger is within 7” of SOMETHING he will help. And the 12” witherstave range will further add to defensive measures. Anyone going to NOVA??? I’ll be doing the RTT tomorrow and the GT on the weekend! @Dreadmund ?
  13. I feel you on the spume conversion! I converted him to be my rotbringer sorcerer. Then when the battletome came out and he is auto include (for me.. I think he is that good) I had to re-convert him back to spume. pretty funny. I would NOT drop the harbinger for the demon prince. The DP will always disappoint, in my experience. He simply isn't killy enough to warrant removing the witherstave (which is simply to good not to include.) He also will get tossed around by any melee focused character.
  14. I think 30/10/10 plaguebearers and more endless spells and a LoB could be good to. But you would be pinning almost all your hopes of objective capping on one unit of Plaguebearers. Granted they would be -4 to shoot and -2 to hit.. but still. @Percivael Amazing models! They look beautiful. I hope you do well at Facehammer GT. As for competitively analyzing your list.. 20 man blocks of blightkings rarely do well. I have tried. Most people will point to the huge footprint or that you cant get them all into combat but for me it was just that it is a single unit that needs a single debuff to render nearly 600 point completely ineffective. This is unlike most other armies large blocks of big boys (hearthguard berzerkers for example). I Would suggest splitting the 20 man unti into 2x 10 man blightkings (+60 points), dropping the 5 man unit entirely (-160 = +100) and add in that gorebeast chariot. Its not the most competitive choice, but it does add a bit of speed to the list which is moving 4" a turn. In a game that's one by moving and capturing objectives.. you need some unit that can move quickly and contest, capture,or threaten an objective. Make sure you target horde style units with its charge! If you are looking for more competetive play in the future, seriosuly consider adding gutrot spume to your list with this many blightkings!! As well as a nurgle warshrine. Also While the thought of 3 abilities which rain mortal wounds from the sky (rotigus, squall, and the cycle stage 6) I think blades of putrefaction is a better spell for glott. IF it goes off and IF it isnt unbound, thats when you pop his command ability. Make the plaguebearers do 2 attacks a piece doing mortals on 6s! but otherwise, I would save the command point for a RR charge, inspiring presence etc when needed! If you had a regular GUO He could use his command and have the plaguebearers 3 attacks a piece! Anyway, I like your list. I hope you have a great time! Report back your experience here.
  15. Add in a Bray shaman for the +3" of movement! Well worth the 100 points right there! You could also buy the wildfire taurus for 80 points (lol). Since endless spells dont count towards the ally cap, you would be right at 400 points. Also, they dont need the tree to run and charge so no need to buy the pestilent throng battalion. In my experience using them (was only a few weeks, then decided on the contorted epitome...mainly because of the conversion opportunity!!) They were insanely good! The only issue was that I could never get all thirty into combat. But 20 at 240 (vs 30 at 300) wasnt as efficient. So you NEED to have a CP in your pocket for inspiring presence. Also keep in mind that Centigors are like a nurgle missile! 14" base move, add three from bray shaman, run and charge. 5 centigors is 80 points! 10 wounds. 4+ save in combat. Best part is they have 4 attacks a piece and can CHOOSE to have an automatic +1 to hit (any target..not just 10+ models like besties). So 20 attacks that do mortals on 5s, move move 14-17", d6+1 run and charge for 80 points. 4+ save in combat to! I think Ill be experimenting with more beasts of chaos, possibly even a pestilent throng after NOVA. Perhaps maybe after LVO for the new ITC season (as Im a total SUCKER for ladder rankings and such..My goal is #1 nurgle for ITC this year)
  16. GUO, 2x poxbringer, 2x 30- plaguebearers, blightkings, 6 drones. Thats a dope start dude. Thats 1780 points. bilepiper and scrivener are so bad in sigmar is comical. unlike 40k where scriveners are amazing. Plague monks are good, but they shine in skaven armies with a plethora of battleshock ignoring rules. If you want to do the demon thing, a lot of people run the thricefold befoulment battalion thats 3x GUO. Lots of magic. fun army to play. One of the more competetive nurgle build ATM. only downside is it requires 3 GUOs lol. One of the most fun aspects of sigmar over 40k IMO, are the endless spells. Dont be afraid to incorporate some of those into your army! Some might be a bit tricky to use or see the value in (spell portal being a prime example) but if you get the hang of them they are a lot of fun and powerful!
  17. AoS rules must be read to the WORD. The words used are VERY purposeful. At one point, the rules for nets in grot units was literally "a few models in this unit may be netters." You may be unfamiliar but the literal definition of a few is precisely three.. even though colloquially its used as an unspecified number. MWG has amazing battle reports and the style, and production are great. But they are notorious for getting rules wrong. So it bothers me when they go on "rants" about problems with the game without having an expert level knowledge on the rules. Its irresponsible. Edit: I certainly didn't mean for that to be a GTFO message. Just that any gaming is better then no gaming. You should make the leap into the mortal realms! Its a great game and even the competitive scene is filled with chill people. Hope I didn't come across as rude @Zplash! Was not my intention. 50% win rate for EVERY faction means the game is "perfectly balanced. " As close to a 50% win rate on any faction is what be be strived for. Plus or minus a few points probably a function of dice rolls and player skill. Nurgle is not underpowered, or overpowered. A few units have higher then expected points costs, but nothing holding them back from winning. Nothing pushing them to the top tabled either. I will see what I can do about upping that 47.7% at NOVA next week!!!! of course, my homeboi's in this thread will be the first to know
  18. @Kociboss Ahh yes. Mini Wargaming. Battle reports and rules critiques from people who don't understand the rules. The point in the video you are talking about starts at 11m45s for anyone who wants to back me up. They claim for every banner they have in the unit, they get +1 save against shooting. However reading comprehension will win the day. The rule states (emphasis mine): So even if they had 1000 icon bearers, they would only get +1 to save. So you are correct.. you are entirely wrong. Have fun playing 40k! Glad you are sticking with it!
  19. Well you could still take the grandfathers blessing trait for a one time re-set or push forward. And still.. is one caster with no bonus worth those points in a 1kish game? I'd say not. Sigmar is not as reduced a game in terms of builds as 40k is. Nurgle isnt "bad." They have a 47.7% win ratio on honest wargamer. Not sure where you heard this. And I have no clue what 2+ save goblin spam is. If you are referring to Gloomspite Gitz faction, I dont know of any 2+ save spam, nor do I know of how you could possibly have 2+ save grots. But Nurgle is a fun army to play, with strong build options depending on your meta. Plaguebearers and drones make up the core of nurgle demons list.
  20. How about: Allegiance: NurgleLeadersHarbinger of Decay (160)Gutrot Spume (140)Battleline10 x Putrid Blightkings (320)10 x Putrid Blightkings (320)Units3 x Plague Drones (200)1 x Beasts of Nurgle (80)Total: 1220 / 1250Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 116 Good shot at a triumph. Could split one of the units of kings into 2x 5 in order to cover more objectives. Take the unit of ten with gutrot. Harbinger can trigger the drones locus, if you are able to be nearby. Allegiance: NurgleLeadersHarbinger of Decay (160)Lord of Afflictions (200)Battleline10 x Putrid Blightkings (320)10 x Putrid Blightkings (320)Units3 x Plague Drones (200)Total: 1250 / 1250Extra Command Points: 1Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 110 This list starts with a command point. Nice for botched charges. Or nice realm commands (if playing with realm rules) or even the new commands (RR 1s on the drones buffed by the locus is reallllly nice!) Could make the list fighty by making the LoA the general and giving him the Virulent contagion trait ("adds" one rend to all his weapons, including that of the fly.) The fly's bell would be rend 3, his spike would be 3/3+/3+/-2/d3 damage! and the mouthparts would get rend to. Rustfang artefact would be even more deadly. Obviously the witherstave is the best artefact in the entire book. The LoA also activates the locus on the drones, and allows nearby (7"... NOT wholly within) rr1s to hit. A bit more fighty. I happy to help if you dont like either of these. Have any models you want to use in particular? How do you feel about no magic?
  21. Thanks so much guys!! I’m glad I changed the position of the chain from around his neck to around his arm/mace with the other chain. Looks so much realistic. Appreciate the kind words 🥰 Quite pleases with how it turned out!! follow me on Instagram: @alexandria_arborist
  22. Ummm yeah. If scoring was based off wounds this list would be so much more effective. Instead of counting as ten, they would count as 41!!! And a unit of 40 marauders with fleshy abundance (not in this list obviously..) wouldn’t count as 80!!! My list can tank an incredible amount of damage. Between making opponents RR 6s to hit and/or wound, the multiple DPR (damage prevention rolls), the massive amount of wounds in the blightkings units, healing.. also making units strike last in combat is added protection.
  23. Well Im wrong.. in a sense and your post helped me. I thought the poster was referring to like a buff, not a warscroll ability. Maruaders are one, Centigors can give themselves +1 to hit automatically but are also +1 to BE hit (because they are so drunk LOL), Bestigors get +1 to hit if attacking units with 10+ models. I have 180 points in my list I'm uncertain what to do with FOR NOVA GT. My three realistic choices are: Festus (with blades of putrefaction) on a balewind (2 casts, great native spell, massive damage spike potential with blades) Great Bray shaman with the wildfire taurus (for more strike last options, and Devolve can be and amazing spell for pulling off an objective, kiting Hearthguard..) 10 chaos warriors for guarding home objectives (especially in knife to the heart, total conquest, focal points ) Rest of my list (which I've posted before) is Harbinger, Spume, Contorted Epitome, 10 kings, 10 kings, 10 kings, 40 marauders, chaos warshrine. I think Festus and the balewind is the best option.. but I want to use my Wall Street Bull so much!! What are your opinions?
