  1. Did you do Nagash's will and vote against Tomb Kings? :-P
  2. Agreed. You can also stack up bravery debuffs and effects that rely on bravery. If Oakenbrow Sylvaneth can still take an Order wizard, I'll bring an Amethyst wizard and exploit horrorghast + spite-revenants to maximum effect!
  3. I preordered mine at my FLGS. I feel very lucky to have it!
  4. 1) The rules are very short - it's one of the draws of the game. The big hardback rulebook also includes rules for playing in different realms, having your army be from different realms, etc. etc. 2) I don't remember exactly, but the basics are always new battleplans, optional rules, and updated points values. 3) No. 4) Someone else is going to have to chime in on this. Stormcast have already got their 2nd edition book. Daughters of Khaine were pretty late in 1st edition, so they might be up to date? And yes, you're allowed to like Stormcast. They're awesome. I'm selling mine off, but only because I fell in love with Sylvaneth (and I'm probably keeping some of my favorite Stormcast models, anyway). Also, re: the models in Soul Wars, something we all have to get used to is that GW is not assuming that everyone is playing with points and points-scaled units all the time. Nowadays that's just one of three ways to play.
  5. I'm really excited to get this game when it's available!
  6. Were you also surprised to discover that the arch-revenant in the box is a lady? Or am I just dense?
  7. Yeah, that's what sold me on buying the box. I'm going to have to sell some stuff...
  8. I think Mordheim is actually a pretty good model for Warcry. They both have robust storylines that you can't necessarily shoehorn every faction into. I think Warcry is going to be even more focused, for good or for ill.
  9. I don't think Warcry is AoS kill team. It's already been made clear that it is a very specific setting and point in history. I think it's more likely that we see rules for assembling games for other factions so you can still play Warcry even if you don't want to collect Chaos, but they won't truly be part of the game.
  10. @Fyrm don't discount the possibility that the tree is a support or contingency piece. With a name like "vengeful skullroot" I could see it debuffing or spitting out mortal wounds in response to nearby Sylvaneth dying.
  11. If the minis are versatile enough, that could be a nice way to do it - use the old StD models as generic Chaos barbarians and the Warcry models as the elite of each tribe.
  12. Just like how Sylvaneth are angry at all the oxygen breathers for showing up and ****** up their plant-based world... I dig it.
  13. I doubt that. We'd have only one priest in the army! Maybe, just maybe, we'll see multiple models turn into priests, like the branchwraith and the treelord ancient/spirit of durthu? That said, the article mentioned that those "versed in life magic" can summon and direct spites, so this is unlikely, or if it does happen, it's likely not tied to the new endless spells.
  14. I wonder what happened to turn the plants and the fungi against each other... in real life they are close allies, frequently symbiotic. /scienceteacher
  15. And my wife and I are now trying to have kids, so it's going to get worse before it gets better.
  16. It's good to be back! I had a terrible year and wasn't doing a lot of gaming. Now I'm still not doing a lot of gaming, but I'm doing more hobbying and talking about gaming, so that's an improvement!
  17. 10/10 would play deathy mortals and vampire overlords please and thank you.
  18. I find it hard to imagine what they could add whole-cloth to Death that would still feel Death-y. And if anyone mentions werewolves, I'm going to eat my own ass, because as cool as a werewolf army might look there is no reason whatsoever outside of 30s horror films to associate werewolves with the dead/undead.
  19. I have two reasons to believe that they won't work exactly like typical endless spells. First, GW is calling them spites. In no cases so far have faction specific endless spells been called something else and then worked exactly like standard endless spells. Second, there's no evidence that spites respond positively to anyone who isn't Sylvaneth, so I'm not sure why it would make sense for the other player to ever be able to control how a predatory spite/spell moves. I mean, the vengeful skullroot has a freaking lamentiri hung inside it! Why should a Nurgle sorcerer be able to boss it around the way he can a spell that is just a spell, like the purple sun or a burning head or whatever? I have three theories right now: 1) They will operate like endless spells in as much as your vector for summoning them is a wizard and they can be dispelled or interacted with my warscrolls that specifically do things to endless spells (ie. eaten by banshees, moved around by spellportals), but the ones that move won't be "predatory" - they'll have some unique rule. 2) They will operate exactly like endless spells, including your opponent being able to direct them by taking second turn, but all of their positive effects will be Sylvaneth only and their negative effects will exclude Sylvaneth. So they're fickle and not very bright, but they'll never attack Sylvaneth or aid invaders. 3) They will be summoned by wizards but will be units rather than spells - ie. we know that spites are entities, so being that these are big-ass spites, they'll have wounds and stats like every other entity in the game.
  20. Good guess, but Deathrattle is also a serious possibility. As I wrote above, one of the only characters who Nagash called an ally for any length of time was Krell, who is a wight king. Of course, Vlad is another possibility and could serve as the nucleus of a new Soulblight army.
  21. Have we had any vigorous and baseless speculation about how spites will work (are they the same as endless spells? Are they more like invocations? Something entirely new?) and what our particular spites will do yet?
