  1. I think what the maths doesn't show you as well is that if something comes in and kills 10-20 mortek, you can still hit back a lot harder with the swords. Personally I'll be taking swords in every circumstance (I'm using 2x40 swords atm) which is a shame.
  2. Yea certainly initial indications point that way. The stats show on honest Wargamer has then at a 69% win rate atm which whilst early days indicates they're pretty powerful. I've had 4 games atm with a few different lists so only a small sample size but they've performed exceptionally well for me and I'm inclined to agree they are very good. My concern is the mortek guard that are supposed to be tanky and do a great job on a 3+rerollable, but are also very, very punchy as well. (I charged and just took off gordrak before he attacked last week) I do think people will learn to play against them and the meta will shift to adjust, but my impression is that they're fantastic and I've not come close to losing yet (I don't think this is my ability, although I know how to play a little) I've run 3 lists so far and all seem very good, I think you'd struggle to write a poor list: nagash with 2x10 Deathriders, 20 mortek, boneshaper. Katakros with 2x10 Deathriders, soul Mason, 40 mortek guard, crawler. Katakros with Soulmason, 2x40 guard, 10 guard, crawler, mortek shield corps, carrion. Interested to hear what people are struggling against, I think maybe missions like 3 places of power or ones with 4+objectives? Rich

  4. I could hate on that pretty easily. We're playing an army that is currently seen as the new slaanesh. I don't see anything wrong at all in making sure he can compete and make it an enjoyable game. Sounds like you're already playing with cheat codes on if you're playing OBR 😙 Rich
  5. I've run 2x10 but not 15, I think you'd struggle to get value but interested to hear if prime have used them that way with success
  6. Good shout I'd not considered the wound roll counted for the crawlers as well. In that case Zandtos goes up in value compared to what I had rated him at. RE: mortek guard not dying anyway I completely agree. I'm looking at null myriad as an option for the same reason, if they're not going to die whether a 3+ or a 4+ then it opens up options for protecting against magic, or run and charge etc. That other legions offer. Is more the rend ability that I like from the petrefex than the save, the two together just make them great. (took Gordrak off on Wednesday before he attacked by charging with mortek guard at 2s to hit, Re-rolling 1s, with 5+ giving 2 hits, and at - 2 rend. They're tanky anyway, but they hit so hard as well when buffed!
  7. Yea maybe mate if its zandtos you're using, that was the one benefit I said was worth it for if you Re-read. I see a lot of purple saying use katakros in praetorian which isn't any better than he is in petrefex sadly! I still think though that zandtos isn't worth it vs having +1 save on everything and perhaps more importantly +1 rend. You'd have to protect him very well and in the mirror he does nothing more than a liege whilst having no access to an artefact or command point.
  8. I don't understand the argument sorry. Why not just run katakros in petrefex? There's no advantage at all to him in praetorians. Am I missing something? The only legion specific thing I can see is Zandtos ability. (the bits you miss from katakros neither your petrefex units nor him miss out on. Rich

  11. Is it that much different to the benefit others get from their faction terrain though? I can see me using one of these each game as our equivalent to dacron terrain.

Hi guys, Not seen this mentioned but with the new matched play rules, from what I can see we can basically now play with 7 gravesites as both players choose 3 primary pieces of terrain and the new sigmarite mausoleum counts as an extra gravesite. That seems pretty solid... Am I missing something here, I'm surprised a bigger deal isn't being made of it? Rich
  13. Yea good shout that. I like the artefact I've used it in combination with walking death and swift strikes in blood to good effect but I normally prefer something defensive. From command abilities I like mist form most from Soulblight and I think with the Lance ghyrstrike seems great as it'll ensure you get those hits through. Depends how the list plays for you! Is a very aggressive list my worry is you can only really hit one thing a turn as without any always strikes first type effects of you hit with 2 units one will be decimated before it attacks. (generally a concern I have with glass cannon type lists in aos despite loving blood knights)
  14. Looks cool although I always feel its difficult to go Soulblight rather than blood sadly due to the +1 attack for all your vampires in blood. Is worth checking but I don't think mannfred can take any spells from the lore of the dead in Soulblight as all wizards have to take from lore of the vampires. Those points aside let us know how it goes! I'm very interested in seeing how others get value out of the blood knights and I need to justify a remortgage so I can buy my third unit! Rich
  15. Wait what am I missing here, how are the blood knights hitting at - 3 rend? Most of my issue with them is that they tend to bounce off things with their - 1 rend.
  16. You could easily fit in a 4-500pt model then a couple 200ish units.it helps that the behemoths are generally very fast so can get into the game
  17. I'd love for the blood knights to get a points drop...
