  1. I dunno man. I have a vivid memory of a mate in the early 00s showing me his brand new colour inkjet desktop printer. He told me that Magic the Gathering would be a dead game by the end of the decade. I think MtG made a billion dollars or something last year. What is the difference between 3D printing for warhammer and Inkjet printing for card games?
  2. That privateer press mark 4 thing isn't them selling the STLs for people to print, they are just 3D printing them in house themselves instead of casting them in house. Even with saving on shipping costs by printing them in the country they are to be sold in they are still really expensive to produce on 3d printers however due to at scale engineering though. The cost of that means that their model pricing is pretty much the same as them casting. Also, STLs aren't lucrative. You can't support a big studio on that income. It would be fine if GW werent a dividend company and reinvested their profits more. It's really frustrating seeing all that money that could have been spent on making an ARCANE style tv show for Warhammer instead going to shareholders. I'm seriously considering trying some social engineering and emailing the major shareholders to make a case that there is more money to be made by re-investing more of the profit back into the IP.
  3. Warhammer Plus launched on the 25th of August 2021, so it's 22 days left until year 2 of Warhammer Plus. It would be nice if we could see some stuff for year 2, for example, a trailer for BlackTalon would be sweet. Also some footage of Astartes 2 plz. They show stuff about warhammer plus on wednesdays apparently, but maybe its too much to hope we'll get something today.
  4. Well, if they weren't motivated to do some stuff in plastic then they probably are now that the Horus Heresy has blown up and become their third pillar. I can definitely see them trying to hype up a big box set trying to emulate the Horus Heresy's success. I wouldnt be at all surprised if we got something like this trailer either:
  5. I have to admit I am pretty burned out on the witch hunting. It's just too exhausting to try push back. The vilification and demonization of Rowling has been pretty rough to watch. Just grotesque. Not to mention the death threats and stalking she has gotten. Seeing people post books about how to make home made bombs along with her address is the least of it. There are some truly disgusting people out there. but apparently she "deserves" this.
  6. I do feel like they could do some more headline minis and terrain, something set in Greywater Fastness would be very cool for example. What does this have to do with Rowling?
  7. It's probably the same as the old one, that is it differs on a store to store basis. I've heard some stores will let you just walk in the door and walk out with it, some expect you to assemble it at a table, some have it pre-assembled and expect you to paint it at a table
  8. Does the Warhammer Community site do a specific thing for each day of the week? I know that preorder articles are for Sunday, and Horus Heresy is for Thursday, is there a specific day for other things like killteam, warcry, AoS etc?
  9. We only got a third party trade revenue figure and that does not include sales direct from the BL website so at minimum that number is not included. The revenue numbers for the BL site or likely online affiliates like audible and ebook stuff doesnt seem to be in the report because it's included with their general online sales numbers which isn't broken down. "Online: this includes sales through the Group’s global web stores, our online subscription service (Warhammer+) and digital sales through external affiliates." The third party trade revenue number was 2.3/2.4 million pound for 2021, 2020, 2019 which is more revenue than all previous years, and definitely not "gone significantly down over the years" Global supply disruption damaged the physical book side of BL and especially it seems with large volume sales to third party trade. But this can't really be used to say BL is writing things people don't like, or that BL is doomed, because digital sales have grown. "After a record performance last year, Black Library, our novel publishing division, struggled in the face of global supply disruption with many key new releases arriving later than planned. Underlying sales continue to grow, especially in the digital space." So in the scenario without this global supply disruption BL would probably have improved on last years sales as the physical side of things would not be dragging the overall number down. Someone on reddit made a poor analysis of the report and now half the community thinks BL is crashing and burning and no one wants to read their stuff anymore lol
  10. By the sounds of the Nexon game you can play as multiple characters, which is like Genshin Impact. You unlock more characters to play as you play the game and they add them in over time. Which probably eventually means more or less playing a character from any faction. It's also supposedly multiplayer like genshin, and can be played on PC, console, and mobile like Genshin. Sounds like theres a chance it might be a lot like your best AoS game tbh
  11. Speaking of AoS games: That's Nexon with a potential Genshin Impact style Age of Sigmar game. I, uh, hope GW weren't silly enough to do a flat fee instead of a percent on that license. Genshin Impact made 2 Billion dollars in 2021. It would be amusingly painful if they only got a flat fee and then this nexon game made pentuple GW's entire yearly revenue. 7.5 mil is a huge chunk of change so it sounds like nexon are pretty serious about doing a big popular AoS game.
  12. Games workshop's financial report for the year came in today.
  13. Mmm, as much as there are people like Klatz out there doing a lot to show people that the lore is pretty good it's never going to have the audience reach. Even SoulBound is quite limited as it is a niche within a niche, and the books are quite difficult to get people into as reading books isn't for everyone. It circles back around to the idea that what AoS needs most of all right now is a good video game. A game that is good not just as an AoS game, but a good video game in general that you can point curious people toward. They get a complete experience from that game and get a full and fleshed out grasp of the feel of AoS universe and become fans of Age of Sigmar for life. (probably) It seems like we'll probably be waiting for that game for a long while unfortunately. But maybe BlackTalon could help a bit in the meantime if it is more of a long form show. Will be interesting to see how it portrays AoS. Hopefully its not all empty vistas and some of the mechanics of the setting are shown.
  14. Shame, it seems like that game might have done ok-ish in terms of profitability. Frontier with their RTS and Nexon with their genshin impact style MMO will have to save the AoS video game scene.
  15. One nice advantage of Warhammer plus is that they could simply direct Hammer and Bolter to make an entire sick ass episode just on Angron if they wanted. That would be a hundred times better than the mortarion and magnus trailers. An episode as dope as Plague Song but for Angron would be *chefs kiss*
  16. If they went with more generic dwarf there would be people laughing at them and calling them derivative design and bad and lazy so I don't think they can win this battle. For what its worth the design ethos they seem to be going for is to make the run of the mill soldier less obviously dwarfy, and then make units more dwarfy as they rise in importance, so maybe when we get our first named character or the tank train they will be quite dwarfy. Its kind of like the run of the mill imperial guard only having a few imperial things on them whereas a commisar is dripping in them There's also that they may be trying to make them a bit like the Eldar, in which they have their own design language that stands out from their cliche trope. The Eldar really aren't that elvish imo, especially when they have helmets on and you cant see their faces. They have found their own style which is a few steps removed from generic elves. I think that is probably worth trying to replicate with dwarves, but we will have to see if they can pull it off.
  17. This fan art got the pauldrons wrong to be completely fair, that is not what terran marines normally look like.
  18. I hear from 40k players pretty often that they are hoping some things from AoS 3.0 make it over to 40K 10th edition. They think AoS 3.0 is the bees knees. ....As an aside the warhammer fandom as a whole desperately needs more positivity. I'm so burned out with reading and seeing over the top negativity online, it really does get tiresome and comes across as so grotesquely entitled a lot of the time. Spoilt rotten children are more pleasant than many of the grown adults I see in the fandom, and at times I think the warhammer fandom has become more toxic than the Undertale fandom at its peak awfulness, which is a truly dire thing to admit and terribly sad. GW has had a very very good few years imo and are regularly knocking it out of the park. If they can truly deliver on all the warhammer potential that seems to be coalescing, with models, and games, and animation, and live action, it will be the most impressive growth I have ever seen for an IP I like. I hope nothing derails it, because good lord is the future looking good.
  19. I just want to see if this if the Squats Land Train is going to be a thing. I cant imagine how crazy it will look if it is a thing, hopefully they go with tank tracks and not hover plates like the trike
  20. More godbeasts would be cool, and there are so many of them an they are all epic and pretty interesting conceptually. The more I read about AoS lore the more I think it would make a truly epic MMO. Perhaps Nexon will make the good game that AoS needs to help people get into it. I don't really know much about Nexon, but I hope they don't blow the opportunity and half ass it. I kinda wish a studio like amazon game studios had gotten it, New World was very good, and it seems like they could do AoS justice.
  21. I recognise the space marine 3d model from their logo ident. I recognise the titan model from the Horus heresy trailer. I recognise the Eternals stuff from the AoS trailer. But where is the Robuit Guilliman 3d model from?
  22. GW actually kicked ass with their contrast paint series, genuinely innovated and changed the painting game. Kind of excited for something as interesting as that. Perhaps a cheap chrome mirror paint range? Good quality chrome mirror paint is expensive as ***, just a cheap version they were able to invent with in-house chemistry stuff that their competition hasn't managed would be very cool. A full metallic range as high quality as chrome mirror paint and at a reasonable price would actually be friggin amazing. But it will probably just be something like dropper bottles lol 😂
  23. imo Sylvaneth are more than elf enough to include. Their queen is one of the elfiest elves in AoS. Mountain. Ocean. Edgelord. Forest. Desert elves are probably next. Someone in the studio must just really like elves.
  24. What seems most likely is that there is a human centric faction being created that is separate from CoS because AoS has too many bloody elves and too few humans. I suspect a possible new human faction could live in the cities, and may have a scattering of other races in its ranks, perhaps for specific things like siege or magic, but is mostly human, humans who like the dawnbringer crusade judging by the heavy emphasis on that on the community page. I don't see the CoS faction being squatted or turned all human, although probably restructured. The CoS might even gain more races/units if the Old World is anything like the Horus Heresy where some units can be taken across to 40k. CoS would be good for getting suitable playable Old World units that don't fit into any other AoS factions. I'm fine with a new grimdark religious zealot crusading/colonising human faction. Grimbright is fine, but that doesnt mean every human faction has to be that way, and no it doesnt "ruin" everything ever, or mean that every faction is going to become grimdark. That said, I don't think that's what we will be getting. My guess is that they will be non-grimdark explorers and colonists, it says "building a sanctuary against the darkness" on the video on that community page which is quite heroic, and perhaps they will be partially themed like spanish conquistadors. Pretty normal medieval earth human stuff with the exception that they are facing powerful monsters in the wild. The "unlike anything you've seen before!" stuff I think might be referring to the caravan vehicle part of the dawnbringer crusades, meaning they get large vehicles, like Kharadron airship sized, but on land, basically large vehicles that units can stand on. Giant caravans/land ships as their set piece unit would be a really tempting choice if I was designing an army related to the dawn bringer crusades, so that's what I bet is coming. 😁
