  1. I dunno man. I have a vivid memory of a mate in the early 00s showing me his brand new colour inkjet desktop printer. He told me that Magic the Gathering would be a dead game by the end of the decade. I think MtG made a billion dollars or something last year. What is the difference between 3D printing for warhammer and Inkjet printing for card games?
  2. That privateer press mark 4 thing isn't them selling the STLs for people to print, they are just 3D printing them in house themselves instead of casting them in house. Even with saving on shipping costs by printing them in the country they are to be sold in they are still really expensive to produce on 3d printers however due to at scale engineering though. The cost of that means that their model pricing is pretty much the same as them casting. Also, STLs aren't lucrative. You can't support a big studio on that income. It would be fine if GW werent a dividend company and reinvested their profits more. It's really frustrating seeing all that money that could have been spent on making an ARCANE style tv show for Warhammer instead going to shareholders. I'm seriously considering trying some social engineering and emailing the major shareholders to make a case that there is more money to be made by re-investing more of the profit back into the IP.
  3. Warhammer Plus launched on the 25th of August 2021, so it's 22 days left until year 2 of Warhammer Plus. It would be nice if we could see some stuff for year 2, for example, a trailer for BlackTalon would be sweet. Also some footage of Astartes 2 plz. They show stuff about warhammer plus on wednesdays apparently, but maybe its too much to hope we'll get something today.
  4. Well, if they weren't motivated to do some stuff in plastic then they probably are now that the Horus Heresy has blown up and become their third pillar. I can definitely see them trying to hype up a big box set trying to emulate the Horus Heresy's success. I wouldnt be at all surprised if we got something like this trailer either:
  5. I have to admit I am pretty burned out on the witch hunting. It's just too exhausting to try push back. The vilification and demonization of Rowling has been pretty rough to watch. Just grotesque. Not to mention the death threats and stalking she has gotten. Seeing people post books about how to make home made bombs along with her address is the least of it. There are some truly disgusting people out there. but apparently she "deserves" this.
  6. I do feel like they could do some more headline minis and terrain, something set in Greywater Fastness would be very cool for example. What does this have to do with Rowling?
  7. It's probably the same as the old one, that is it differs on a store to store basis. I've heard some stores will let you just walk in the door and walk out with it, some expect you to assemble it at a table, some have it pre-assembled and expect you to paint it at a table
  8. Does the Warhammer Community site do a specific thing for each day of the week? I know that preorder articles are for Sunday, and Horus Heresy is for Thursday, is there a specific day for other things like killteam, warcry, AoS etc?
  9. We only got a third party trade revenue figure and that does not include sales direct from the BL website so at minimum that number is not included. The revenue numbers for the BL site or likely online affiliates like audible and ebook stuff doesnt seem to be in the report because it's included with their general online sales numbers which isn't broken down. "Online: this includes sales through the Group’s global web stores, our online subscription service (Warhammer+) and digital sales through external affiliates." The third party trade revenue number was 2.3/2.4 million pound for 2021, 2020, 2019 which is more revenue than all previous years, and definitely not "gone significantly down over the years" Global supply disruption damaged the physical book side of BL and especially it seems with large volume sales to third party trade. But this can't really be used to say BL is writing things people don't like, or that BL is doomed, because digital sales have grown. "After a record performance last year, Black Library, our novel publishing division, struggled in the face of global supply disruption with many key new releases arriving later than planned. Underlying sales continue to grow, especially in the digital space." So in the scenario without this global supply disruption BL would probably have improved on last years sales as the physical side of things would not be dragging the overall number down. Someone on reddit made a poor analysis of the report and now half the community thinks BL is crashing and burning and no one wants to read their stuff anymore lol
  10. By the sounds of the Nexon game you can play as multiple characters, which is like Genshin Impact. You unlock more characters to play as you play the game and they add them in over time. Which probably eventually means more or less playing a character from any faction. It's also supposedly multiplayer like genshin, and can be played on PC, console, and mobile like Genshin. Sounds like theres a chance it might be a lot like your best AoS game tbh
  11. Speaking of AoS games: That's Nexon with a potential Genshin Impact style Age of Sigmar game. I, uh, hope GW weren't silly enough to do a flat fee instead of a percent on that license. Genshin Impact made 2 Billion dollars in 2021. It would be amusingly painful if they only got a flat fee and then this nexon game made pentuple GW's entire yearly revenue. 7.5 mil is a huge chunk of change so it sounds like nexon are pretty serious about doing a big popular AoS game.
  12. Games workshop's financial report for the year came in today.
  13. Mmm, as much as there are people like Klatz out there doing a lot to show people that the lore is pretty good it's never going to have the audience reach. Even SoulBound is quite limited as it is a niche within a niche, and the books are quite difficult to get people into as reading books isn't for everyone. It circles back around to the idea that what AoS needs most of all right now is a good video game. A game that is good not just as an AoS game, but a good video game in general that you can point curious people toward. They get a complete experience from that game and get a full and fleshed out grasp of the feel of AoS universe and become fans of Age of Sigmar for life. (probably) It seems like we'll probably be waiting for that game for a long while unfortunately. But maybe BlackTalon could help a bit in the meantime if it is more of a long form show. Will be interesting to see how it portrays AoS. Hopefully its not all empty vistas and some of the mechanics of the setting are shown.
  14. Shame, it seems like that game might have done ok-ish in terms of profitability. Frontier with their RTS and Nexon with their genshin impact style MMO will have to save the AoS video game scene.
