Just had a thought. If these Hobgoblin rumors are true could it be that we’ll see a proper Chaos Dwarf release? With proper big hats, black orcs, and hobgoblin gits? I’ve always said they should be part of destruction instead of Chaos.

In AOS we at least have 2\3 origin stories about chaos worshipping Dwarves(Furnace Kings, that runeson inscribing pillars with praise to the father of darkness and Zharr Vyxa in Ulgu) and also Hashut lore bits here and there.
Still Chaos darves symbolizes the evils of industrialization like pollution and other bad sides of society so they are a complex civilization.
Considering Hashut was and his a Chaos god i don't think they'll go anywhere but in the Chaos GA, still they could have Hobgoblin troops\slaves as in the old world.

Honestly I feel like that particular angle of hardcore suicide troops - dwarf slayers, Death Company, flagellants, Sisters Repentia, Medusan Immortals - is a little overdone in GW games buuuut imagining how they'd sculpt a skeleton/armature of lightning with floating plates of sigmarite barely holding it together in a coherent human-shaped form is really appealing.

Well, technically space marine Dreadnought are'nt suicide style troops so i'd say it's a different niche.

Still as barely holding themsleves golems could be appealing too.

Or even a shock attack gun style artillery piece that shoots lightning gheists XD.

Could be, though the third Subgroup of Grots in the fluff that where name where Grotbag Scuttlers which are Sky grots.

Granted they did hinted that there where other Subgroups too, one that went deep into the Marsh and other went under the Waves

Yes, that's what i'm thinking, still i did'nt remember they specified a marsh subgroup.
Gloomspite already got two grots subspecies, why this new army can't do a mirror version of them with evil sun worship and other things?
Grotbag are named many times already, and going by the naming style they got, GW is already hinting to have them in the future (Kharadron were at first called Steamheads for example while Slayers were hinted by the name redlayers).
They could even subvert the idea and putting the third subgroup as the marsh ones as a Dank and shadow hating species forced to live in marshes and searching the Evil sun to warm them up (maybe cursed by the bad moon?).
But also the Gnoblars\Boglars idea is tempting, as a full fledged faction they could finally shine.
Still, as some already said,Fimir could be just some units added here and there like other monster sized infantry (as Troggoths and Minotaurs).

I hope we will be seeing a model for little grom when The Old World comes about.

IIRC TOW should be too early for him (timeline should be set between 1360 IC and Magnus the Pious).

Seeing the trailer though it seems a little bit different this iteration of Kislev, while bear riders and ice witches already existed in the lore the cannon sled seems a bit too much, the same for too much bears in some regards (like the space wolves using a wolf cavalry and so on).
I hope they'll not exaggerate the concepts for TOW, the wilder ideas are for Aos and still the old world had also wilder ideas that could be capitalized without changing too much.

  5. @VasshpitThey could use the Gorkamorka split state in Gork and Mork to have a civil war between "Gorkers" and "Morkers" XD.
Or Evil sunz worshipper against Bad moon ones, with the two celestial object fighting and colliding.
Still i really want to see the new army that's coming, the ideas that are rumored are great....by Grungni, even the "hypothesised\wishlisted" ones like Boglars and so on.

As for the second faction of AoS 3.0 starter I think GW must go safe. They are taking Stormcasts and Space Marines for every starter  for a reason. They need to aim for the most wide tastes. I doubt we will get something other than some kind of Greenskinz.

And in Whfb at least the were 2 starter boxes with orcs and goblin so it will give that classic feel having some greenskins.

About the "think wide" i'd love a not-dreadnought still maybe@Whitefang meant "wide army" so stormcast with Human auxiliaries ? XD

If they are in an AoS story, it's a bit harder, but still, I don't have issues with retconning stuff like this away. They retconned female space marines out of the lore, they can retcon females (of any species) being only breeding machines out of the lore. Rats still had quite a bit of time to evolve, and evolution due to warpstone would be quick if GW spent any modeler time on Skaven.

Considering skaven are a grotesque and evil Parody of modern society, sexism make sense in a sort of way.

Also i think  is a joke about lab-rats reprdouction but idk.

They are Fantasy canon. Not AoS canon.

I don't think they'd be losing much by changing End Times canon anyway. I'm not a fan of AoS novels, but that period was absolutely unreadable.

Absolutely agree that we need female dwarves though.

Kharadron (represented in books), Fyreslayers (represented in FIERCE art), Disposessed (though GW has forgotten them) and Chaos Dwarves (even though they only have two models left, I still want that). Plus a Valaya faction.

As far i remember in a story of Fyreslayers Broodmothers were mentioned, giving birth also to some monsters (perhaps Moulder clan?).
Still Skaven society directly poured from old world into the new realms so i'd say they're not changed much.

  9. @silverstuConsidering that the article mentions also monsters maybe the "gimmick" of this edition will be roaming monsters instead of endless spells (or both).
Still the new gods could just mean Morathi and Kragnos (that's a demigod technically)...hoping for Valaya though, maybe the BR Teclis event could help in the return of the mother of the Dwarves.

  10. If they'll do TOW with the same process of HH modelwise (majority of models in resin) i think it will hurt the game.
FW fantasy part always sold less than 40k\30k, still i'd love the detail of the HH books for Tow ones.

As cool as I think that could be, (I'm thinking the big Zandalari golems from Warcraft), I'd rather save that space entirely for a duardin army. I'd really like Grungni to stop working for Sigmar and forge his own path. While I'd really like a new destruction race, I'll happily settle for a Duardin vs. Greenskins narrative in 3.0.

I agree on that though i'm a bit more optimistic.
We know Grungni was working for the Dwarf people in Chamon as the "stormcast new armor" is a recent development not thought before the Bel'akor thing.
In Soulbound they described him building reclamation engines for the dwarf to reclaim their holds and the Fyreslayer tomes says also that he's working on various possible things.
Still the alliance betwen Grungni and Sigmar is a staple that should'nt be forgotten as Ghal Maraz itself is a symbol to that alliance between dwarves and men (unlike fickle elves).
Still I'd say something for Grungni is definitely coming, with a third faction, hoping they'll be playing the classic point of dwarves: karaks, grudges and tradition.
I'd love some things like Valaya Shieldmaiden\Valkyries, rune weapons and other traditional\spiritual things (contrasting the Atheistic Kharadron and the warrior-brotherhood feeling of the Fyreslayers).
Perhaps they could throw in some Gholemkind auxiliary as they are mentioned in various books as being of Chamon.
The possibilities are endless if GW does apply, and Gromthi attack on Bel'akor renew my hopes.
After all Greenskins can be stopped only by the sons of Grungni.

  12. I know that for someone may seems obnoxious but as SCE being similar to space marines i'd give them some lighting gheist construct like the dreadnought.
Unable to be reforged anymore they'd get encased in a Sigmarite golem that fulfill some heavy assault role.
Also we need a lord commander miniature.

"The bog-grot tribes that had harassed their stockades were driven back by crackling war machines, the swamp waters were drained in days and the land was baked into hardened clay. Walls and towers increased in size as the region's resources were plundered to build the fast growth of the city".

    Pg 54 Core Rulebook

Maybe this is the new breed...Driven out of the swamps from humans building cities of order?

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else

It could be a clue, nice find.
I'd love the expansion of some lesser greenskin sub-species of old, those two Goblins and Gnoblars WD armylists were interesting and also gave a nice overview about the greenskins adaptability.
Still 19 days to go before knowing what it's inside the box or at least seems so...
I hope they'll give us some hint\images about the destruction part before though.

  14. @KingBroddProbably the reveal will be about soulblight new rules, monday model could be anything but i think 40k.
Still surely before the end of the month they'll show something i think about the box, even just another teaser like the "Bad Moon speaking" one.

@Grim Beastiesthe hand rumor engine was seen in an artwork of Cursed City so i think is something from death?
The Gargant head on a flag makes me think about Grotbag Scuttlers but i would'nt get my hopes too up.
Still i'd say at least the first 4 and 6th-7th images are from destruction models.

@JackStreicherMortek guard increments are made with 10 models but are sold in 20 men boxes so perhaps Skeletons and Zombies will be the same.

I followed the instructions they said in the article:

"Sign up for our newsletter today, and we’ll send you an exclusive hint at the mysterious threat terrorising the swamps of Ghur."

And I received the next image:

    unnamed.jpg.032ed8c1911bdac362ce530de468ccab.jpg

It is clearly a Destruction army similar to the LOTR/The Hobbit Orcs and Goblins. The image resembles a lot with Peter Jackson's Gothmog or the Mordor's Uruk-Hai

I'd say these icon are more similar to the whfb\GW greenskins classic ones.
Still what does these mean though? They're sort of "tribute" to the evil sun, *idk* and Bad moon?

  16. I agree with @KriticalKhan, Fimir like most of the old "forgotten pieces" should not be left in the bin.
Even as a little gorup of units like trolls or as support for some other forces.
Also the bronze age vibe is still unexplored in the realms (partially Kragnos though) so there's room for them in some way.

I like them much more than destruction centaurs.

Silly pony boy. Im still so very curious how Gordrakk reacts to him.

I hope Headbutting him very hard like the Old Grimgor against Archaon 😂😂.

  18. I'd say at least a proper first or second wave for all the new 1st edition Aos armies left in shambles (Ironjawz,Fyreslayers and so on) and the legacy armies with too much finecast (like Skaven).
If we're talking about brand new armies and or ideas going by GA:
Order: Faithful of Sigmar reinforcement for Cities and\or Grungni-Valaya brand new classic-dwarves (perhaps absorbing old dispossessed).
Death: Deadwalker own army, some meat monsters and zombie nobilty like in the lore.
Chaos: Chaos duardin, is the only possible new angle still not explored in chaos forces (not counting FW models that got unfortunately canned).
Destruction: Evil Sun worshipper or something like that mixing Grotbag  air Grots and Gitmob wolf-riding grots, the first updating the old "contraptions" of goblins in whfb.

  19. Fimir, like skaven and zoat, are ones of the "most original" Gw concepts of old though, if they want to get them back they could just cut off the bad lorepieces (that also beastmen had partially).
Still i'd cast my lot with the new greenskin type.
Ironically enough in whfb there were in some white dwarf armylists sea and swamp grots: the Troglagobs (goblin sea cousins) and Goblars/Boglars (swamp Gnoblars).
