  1. Fair, since too many points in leaders was what I mentioned for your Ymetrica list with Avalenor and Sevireth. 😅 But I was going to go with the regular Mountain Spirit so it'd be only 790 points in leaders. The Mountain Temple would be 990 points (Spirit, Mage, 2×10 Guard, Batallion), plus Teclis for 660. That's 1650 points, so just 350 left for troops. Sounds sketchy, right?
  2. Hey, thank you so much for the input. Sadly this doesn't meet the requirements for the Alarith batallion, since you need to field a Stone Mage and a Mountain Spirit / Avalenor. Meaning the 120 points for the Batallion in your list are free and could be used for something else, but you also wouldn't get to reroll the safes.
  3. Hey guys, would really love some ideas here... So, as some of you might have read, I really like Ymetrica lore- and colour-wise (though I'm switching blue for turqoise) and the whole Alarith theme, even though they might not be super competitive. I'm not planning to got to tournaments anyway. Now what I also really like is the Archmage himself, the God of Magic... Is there away to combine Teclis and an Alarith Mountain Temple battalion in a halfway decent list? Would like to run 20 Stoneguard, but how should I fill up the rest of the points?
  4. I'm sure more experienced players will have a clearer view, but to this looks a little top-heavy, meaning too many points in the Leader section while there are only 40 very slowly moving wounds to capture and hold objectives.
  5. Sorry for bumping this up again. I just wanted to clarify that there were consequences for Morathi's Anvilguard coup as stated in the new Daughters of Khaine tome (p. 17). Ven Brecht did report to Sigmar and the Godking is rather angry. He sends three armies of Hammers of Sigmar to reclaim the city. Morathi and the Daughters manage to almost defeat them together with Idoneth allies until the Prime Celestant appears. He offers negotiations; him and Morathi enter the Godess' chambers and they negotiate alone, without any of Morathi's agents present. When the talks are done the Celestant Prime orders the Hammers to retreat while Morathi gets to keep the city in exchange for some mysterious promise to Sigmar.
  6. I would agree that the faction does lack anchor points for sympathy and doesn't feature a lot of memorable characters apart from the queen b***h herself. But I quite like to imagine how it must look and feel if a sect marches onto the battlefield to rescue e.g. some Freeguild militia just when they feel those sick Hedonites will slaughter and enslave them..
  7. Hm. I'm not sure I'd agree when it comes to oversexualization. Sure the Witch Aelves don't wear a whole lot, but their faces appear fierce, not inviting, their poses are dynamic and aggressive, not submissive or overly unnatural, like in that infamous Spider Woman cover. Display of ****** or asses do not appear to be the focal points of the models. They come across as aggressive, able and dangerous, even if scantily clothed. So in my mind there is no real objectification here. Well, except if you think bikini armor automatically equals objectification and sexualization. Price per model might be an issue, but there are quite a few armies that require a higher model count. Like the aforementioned Skaven or Cities of Sigmar. And I do agree it's a little bit of a shame that the army is so low on named characters. Sure, the cult is centered around Morathi by her own design, but the sects are still more or less autonomous and have their own hierarchy.
  8. Greetings, pious zealots of the many-faced Goddess of Murder! I have pretty much settled on Daughters as my second Army, once I've managed to assemble and paint a playable Lumineth Force. And while looking through forum entries, Youtube videos and color schemes I noticed that there's a lot less ... engagement I'd say with Daughters in Khaine than with other AOS armies. Here are some examples: Google searches for Khelt Nar, Zainthar Kai or Khailebron didn't result in a lot of painted armies popping up who actually match said sects. The new short story between Malerion and Morathi seemed to spark more discussion in the Lumineth forum than in the Daughters forum. The TGA Daughters of Khaine subforum is a little quiet in general (based on the number of posts) when compared to other Order factions Cities of Sigmar, Stormcast Eternals or even Lumineth Realm-Lords, last of whom are still pretty new. This seems strange to me considering the Daughters are one of the original AOS armies (at least to my knowledge), seem to do well on tournaments, have a well-balanced Battletome that allows for different focal points without losing two much effectivity ... and is made up of bikini-clad murder babes, if you would pardon this display of sexist language. So what do you think might the reason? Is it the model range? I think everything Melusai is awesome, pretty much everyone seems to agree that Morathi (or at least The Shadow Queen) is God tier levels of greatness, and even the older models like Cauldrons and Witch Aelfs seem to still hold up pretty well (at least in my view). Is it the cost of the army money-wise? Or do people just prefer their savage murder warriors to be male and clad in Chaos armor? Thanks for reading, and I'm very much looking forward to your answers. Murder for the Murder-Queen!
  9. From what I gathered from the story Malerion seems to be more or a loner type, and more or a cunning spy and thief than a general. Sure, if he's brought in I'll think he'll come with some sneaky shadowy creatures, but I kinda don't see him bringing an army of Aelf like in the Olden Days. And DOK already dabble a bit in the shadow theme as well, in form of the Shadowstalkers, the Khailebron sect and the Lore of Shadows. And if Malerion were to join his mother together with some minions, they could just call it Umbraneth Gloom-Aelf and they'd have the perfect darker twin to the Lumineth Realm-Lords, complete with two Gods, just like their fair cousins. PS: 'One must take pleasures where one can find them, in these times of turmoil.’ ‘No doubt your bedchamber has seen its fair share of turmoil of late.’ Looks like the Goddess is still not above mortal habits...
  10. https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/j0eiD2VbfpsksyC2.pdf Here you go. Hope this helps. So.. No one's talking about this in here?
  11. Will Ymetrica still be viable if we lose the stone skin rule of the Mountain Temple batallion, as some seem to suggest? Playing the Nation just for the -2 rend protection and Stoneguard as battle line seems a little lackluster...
  12. Just cut what I said about Malerion being a part of a BR Volume, I guess ..😅
  13. Okay, now I don't know if anyone feels me, but ... what if there is no Malerion faction, and there won't be one? Up until now we didn't really get a glimpse of Shadow Aelves except maybe Khainite Shadowstalkers. Morathi and her Melusai use the Lore of Shadows. The shadowy, winged agent who freed Van Brecht turned out to be one of Be'lakor's agents. We know that Malerion wasn't too fond of his mother in the beginning, but he didn't excactly stop her though he must have been aware. What if Malerion came too admire her cunning, proactive ways once again, as he did in the World that Was? There will be a Malerion model, but I think he might come as part of a Broken Realms volume, and then be attached to Daughters of Khaine, maybe even renaming the faction to Umbraneth Shadowkin or something like that. Similar to what they did with Be'lakor in StD. He might even bring one or two units, but I don't know if there's enough for a whole new faction, considering that Order is already quite overblown.
  14. I wasn't trying to dismiss any worries about balancing and I wouldn't want to paint anyone who argues that there are balancing issues as a cry baby who needs to 'git gud'. I just think that it's a good thing that there are so many armies that seem prepared to play on a rather high level. By the way, I feel like your example is a little flawed because a) FIFA doesn't allocate players to clubs while GW does decide what every army gets and doesn't get and b) there is no minor leagues in Age of Sigmar. All armies are supposed to be played against each other without creatinc NPEs. At least I hope so.
  15. Though, to be fair, from what I've gathered there seem to be quite a lot of armies that are considered S or A tier. Far more than those that are always fighting uphill battles. For me personally it's just a shame that Sylvaneth fall into the latter category. Please correct me if I've got this wrong.
  16. Well, I'm a really new AOS player, so maybe my perspective is somewhat interesting to veterans?! When trying to decide on an army (and henceforth declaring myself ready to pour substantial amounts of money into it) I followed two principles: A) The obvious one: Rule of Cool. Which army appeals to me from a visual standpoint and seems to have a cool concept. B) After trying to tap into the community a little: which army will usually have an edge in most match-ups. While I really liked Sylvaneth aesthetically I decided against them because I kept reading that they are bad. So I went with Lumineth. GW had a chance to sell me Sylvaneth, but by shaping the faction meta in a way that made the community represent them as disadvantaged I chose another faction. Now, I would assume they still want to sell Sylvaneth, but if other new players think and act like I do, they'll less of them.
  17. So, some of you might have read the thread in which I asked for help deciding on a Great Nation. I did decide, and the vote fell to Ymetrica, though I wanted to make mine stand out a little. So I switched blue with turquoise. Do you think it's still close enough so it might be Ymetrica?
  18. Wow, thank you for the, dare I say, Lightning Reflexes on those answers. I'm not entirely sure whether I want to go full Alarith or not, albeit they are what drove me to the faction. I just wonder if Alumnia's tactical prowess with the additional movement, more magic and a teleport artifact might be more fun to play. From what you wrote I gather the normal Mountain Spirit isn't quite as viable an option? Kind of a shame, since I like the peaks on its shoulders and the weapon more than I do Avalenor's. Which heroes would you recommend? Just Avalenor and the Stone Mage for starters? How about the Lore Seeker? Is the Stone Mage a good Shrine Guardian or would I want to let him use his flight spell? What would you recommend for Alumnia? Just Wardens, Dawnriders and Sentinels? Sorry for the barrage of questions..
  19. Greetings, esteemed sages, mages and regents of the Nations of Hysh! :) I'm a brand new AOS player who used to play WHFB in the olden days (Dwarves and Dark Elves). Now, recently the almighty YouTube algorithm tried to lure me in by suggesting HeyWoah's 'Every AOS Army in 16 Minutes' ... and it worked. I was hooked and haunted and after finally deciding on the glorious Lumineth Realm-Lords I bought the Launch Box... So here we are. Haven't played a single game yet, new tome is on order but hasn't arrived yet due to supply chains to Germany being abysmal right now. Early on I wanted to go with Ymetrica, since I really love the aesthetic of the Alarith units, especially the majestic Spirits of the Mountain.. But since getting a little bit more familiar with how the games usually work I got the impression that Stoneguard units are incredibly slow and while I am not looking to be ultra competitive I also don't want to lose every game because my opponent manages to score and I don't... With the new Battletome out I heard that there's another Great Nation that seems to make better use of more defensive units like Wardens, and that's Alumnia due to their free movement...So here's where I need help, since I really want to decide on a Great Nation and paint the army accordingly before doing my first games. Do you think Ymetrica is viable? If so, what would need to accompany the Wardens and Stoneguard in order to succeed? Dawnriders? A Loreseeker? Sentinels? Or would Alumnia be just more fun to play and less a struggle to succeed with? Could Alumnia make use of Alarith units as well? How similar would an Alumnia army feel to a Melusia-heavy Khailebron army (which is my second army project for AOS, but LRL have priority)? What I own so far is this: 10 Wardens, The Light of Eltharion, 5 Dawnriders, 5 Stoneguard, a Stonemage and a Shrine Luminor. How should my purchase schedule look based on the Nations you'd recommend? Thank you for indulging me and my ramblings. I am very much looking forward to your feedback. :)
