  1. I dont see it that way, I see the rule being fundamentally broken its just tempered by dropping liberators who aren't much good. If that battalion included other units like evocators or was given to another team that was better it could actually be unplayable. With all that said I do think this battalion has uses just not the impossible magic drop 30 libs and win strat. I like the idea of dropping 10ish libs and 9 raptors onto a key objective and using gryphhounds as a screen for them. With the raptors further up the board than normal you can pick off key pieces that wouldn't normally be in range. Than try to translocate another block of libs onto an objective. Then bring some evos from the rear with more targeted shooting on the enemy, make them pick their targets, do they clear off the objectives and take hits from shooting and any hammer units or do they remove your threats while the libs sit back and score points?
  2. I might be missing a trick here but how would you get gavriel wholly within 12 of the unit? He can't be redeployed with the battalion and stormkeep means no scions, he isn't fast enough to run to them. Vexillor for a guaranteed teleport? But now on top of minimum 950 for the battalion your up to 1180 with gav and a vex just to charge 30 +1 libs? Seems more efficient to just play old stormcast and drop gav with 1k of evocators.
  3. 950 is the cheapest you can do (30 libs + another 5 libs) but you're right half your army has to sit within 12 of one squishy hero, if someone did this to my ogors I'd be ecstatic
  4. The more I think about the use of this battalion the more I think it's bad because IMO it's not going to be able to compete in a competitive setting, having so many points invested in a couple of units that can so easily be taken off the board in 1-2 rounds of combat by most good competitive lists doesn't compensate for the 1 round of board dominance you get. However in a casual setting I can't see this being anything but oppressive, like how aggrivated would you be if you turned up with a fun list just to have 30 liberators jammed in your first before the game starts completely ruining your chance to actually play out your armies rules and play out a normal game?
  5. Heroes are neave blacktalon (helmet or no helmet) Astreia Solbright (really cool kit) Knight incantor (both Soukstrike and mortal realms figs are female, no helmet) Units: Sequitors (helmetless options, unit leader is female in standard box) Etb sequitors (female leader, helmet less option) Sequitors from soulstrike (only 1 female fig, monopose, helmet only) Castigators (1 female fig, helmet) Soukstrike castigators (female leader, monopose, helmet only) Evocators (2 of 5 female, leader can be female, one of the coolest female figs in the game, helmetless options) Evocators on dracoline (female leader option, 1 of 3 female, helmetless option) Ballista (no helmet on female fig) Think that's all the options, good luck
  6. I painted up murgoth from the BOC underworlds warbands, boy is thicc
  7. From what I read here taking storm keeps means you don't get scions.
  8. Video here I'm excited for being able to add Cos units in, it won't be meta but for casual games extra options are always fun.
  9. Seraphon are exactly who I'm thinking of, when I said warrior chamber I don't meant to lock the units only to that chamber, just that the allegiance majorly benefits those units in much the way seraphon allegiances will keyword slann, skink, saurus or monster I'd like our allegiances to do the same thing. You can still bring your sacrosanct wizards but if you want a heavy spellcasting list then you want to be sacrosanct allegiance, if you want lots of libs and paladins then you want warrior etc.
  10. Its not even 3 new rules, it says 3 SETS of abilities so hopefully this creates avenues for different styles of play to be viable, not just shoot cast. Vince venturella had a stream centered on fixing stormcast and pretty much everything he wants in it is how I'd like to see the rules applied. 3 separate allegiances maybe attached to Chambers warrior/extremis, vanguard and sacrosanct and then rules within them to play those units and make them play the way you want. E. G. Warrior chamber abilities could be simple things like all units automatically have staunch defender, +1 attack when charged, +1 to bravery. Now you can build a classic stormcast army of libs, juds and paladins, maybe stick it in celestial vindicator and you have an army that's still unlikely to win any tournaments but allows much better value from those units, makes them play the way you feel they should and (especially if any decent relevant battalions are added) be competitive in most games.
  11. Battalions are nice but unlikely to fix the army, hopefully there's some that are good enough we have more options to reduce our drops. The 3 sets of allegiance abilities however could be huge, hopefully this means we are getting a setup like seraphon where we pick a set of allegiance abilities then a storm host and the abilities that come with. Of this is the case it could give a big boost to the army, big.
  12. Iv seen speculation they could replace battleforces this year as limited edition SC boxes but that's purely speculation
  13. Oh I think you missed what I was saying, it's easy enough to create teams under 500 points, I almost posted the exact same sacrosanct list as an example of what an actual themed box would look like and cost. The problem is the current ogors start collecting box costs £55/€70 and the SCE box is the same. The BCR box contains £75/105€ of models while the SCE box is harder to judge as they have monopose models not available outside of the box. With these armies you would get less in the box with a 500point cap for an additional £30 cost. Of course this may be why they don't have points caps on starter boxes in the first place
  14. If they do go this route I'm curious how they create value for the more elite teams and still stick under 500 points. Teams like stormcast and ogres would have to reduce how much is in the starter box for an additional £25 cost to stay under 500 points. I tried working out the most expensive team I can (in £) and it came to about £120 but is completely awful (LA on tauralon, 5 liberators, 5 prosecutors, 4 aetherwings) and multiple models already exist in cheaper forms then the GW box prices. I like the idea of 500 point starter sets just not sure how it works for some teams outside of releasing new kits with inflated prices to go in the box
  15. GW don't want to be gentle, just look at their recent prices.
  16. I just saw the price, even purchasing from Independants its looking to cost about $280. I'm moving back home just before it launches so I'll miss the £90ish price I'd get it for in the UK and would have to settle for roughly £155., ouch. My wife really wanted us to get into warcry but this has basically ended that dream.
  17. True but there are options, cogs, Knight heraldor for run and charge, simply running them up the field? If the army is shooting based they are unlikely to want to engage so the game plan may be to castle up, hold objectives and slowly work your way up the board using the protectors to neuter the strength of shooting, maybe using some other units to deep strike or take objectives? The biggest issue is there aren't any battalions that would work that I can think of leaving a high drop army
  18. In a shooting meta is there any play in protectors? - 1 to hit vs shooting, units behind count as in cover. Evocators or sequitors in cover vs ranged with a 3+ save rerolling 1s, 2+ with a Lord castellant
  19. I would think our ability to deep strike and simply zone out/screen the gargant from objectives is the strongest play, the gargant biggest weakness is their board presence, they are a low model count army. Yes each model counts as multiple but that's not useful if they can't get to the objective, longshanks is a fairly useless ability and if you zone the gargant out correctly I could see them easily being kept off important objectives.
  20. On that it's worth noting I bought a mantic giant for £25 in the UK and out of curiosity was checking how much it cost back at home (Oz) and the first place I found it was selling it for $45 or roughly £25. So why can a little company like Mantic sell for the same price internationally but GW need to add an extra 50%?
  21. I'll probably just proxy him for all of them, he's only going to be an ally, I may change his weapon or change up bits iin the future to align more with a specific gargant if I buy another and start building a SOB army.
  22. I've started work on my mantic giant, way happier with how he looks now and all for £25. (please ignore mess I'm in the process of moving)
  23. I mean the question of how to beat a gargant surely depends on whether its an ally right? If its just an ally I imagine the best move is to ignore it, 500 points for one body on an objective can live while you take out the actual threats. In a Sob army? Lots of shooting and deepstriking for board presence and surely a kitty bomb has some legs? 6 evos on cats, LA on cat, tempest Lords and maybe even a seraphon wizard for extra cp generation. 6 cats with the LA buff 3 times for 3 extra draco attacks generate 38 wounds vs 4+ save on average and if you ally in a starseer at minimum on average you'll have command points to use the CA every round. Or just the 6 cats in celestial vindicator which should create a whopping 44 wounds on the charge on average although CP is harder to come by for the CA.
  24. Honestly I think the best thing you can do is play with the army you have now as that's the quickest way to work out what you're missing. I think you'll find the thunderhead battalion does very little and the raptors may be better served being in units of 6, assuming you are playing anvils to get the most out of your shooting.
