  1. I can't speak for anyone else's guess and am not great at estimating base size on my own, but I really hope am torn between wanting them on 75x42 so the models are bigger and easier to admire, and wanting them on 60x35 because a reinforced unit on anything bigger would be a pain to maneuver (better with fly, at least).
  2. Realm lore tomes would be cool, as long as they were implemented in a way so as not to constrict the possibilities of the realms. But I don't see that it would be necessary to tie them to the edition.
  3. There's a few armies I'd love to see: Shadow Aelves, Chaos Duardin, Gholemkin/Reimagined Khazalid Duardin, etc. But I don't think it's the right time yet. Early next edition at the soonest, IMO.
  4. I'd be okay with either, as they are both favorites. And I think there's a compelling case for either one as well. Personally, though, I want to see a return to all realms being possible battlegrounds. Not necessarily realm rules, just less narrative focus on a single realm at a time. ...In fact, if realm rules were killed altogether, that might make me happiest after enduring all the GHB gimmicks. I love 3e, but the GHBs are the worst part of it and it's not even close IMO.
  5. Was tinkering with maybe getting back to my Bonereapers recently, but they just feel so bad without Katakros or Arkhan. From what I've seen of the meta, pretty much everyone is still building around at least one of them, and I'd really rather not. Not sure how to fix that in the current battletome, though, shortly of nerfing both of them from orbit and then dropping costs on the entire rest of the book to compensate.
  6. Man, really hoping Tyrion releases somewhat soon. Obviously he won't be soon-soon, but maybe sometime next year. I got a Cathallar from my office's Secret Santa and so my stockpile of Lumineth for futureproofing my collection grows.
  7. Please no, points per model going away is my favorite thing about list building in 10th edition 40k. I never want to go back in either game. More on topic though, the new FEC look super cool. If I wasn't already heavily invested in Soulblight with a significant backlog of other projects, I'd definitely jump on that army box. As it is, it seems like it will be too close in playstyle to justify, but allies mean I might branch out over time.
  8. 20 zombies for 150 is still reasonably cheap. They're not Clanrat cheap, but they're far from an elite-cost unit at that price. I do feel people on the other stuff, though.
  9. I think the recursion nerf is enough that Immortis are probably no longer the auto-takes for every situation, but you lists that field multiple sources of healing will still get great value out of them. It's possible we might see MSU Immortis instead of big blocks now, too--since two successful heals gives you a 4 wound Immortis back and a third would waste 2 wounds of healing if put into the same unit, I could see people trying to maximize based around that.
  10. Yeah, Hobgrots are not an option. Only Kruleboyz get the conditional battleline on them.
  11. That'd be a colossal waste, IMO. The Morghasts are among the best models of their generation in terms of holding up to newer sculpts.
  12. I had been coming closer and closer to making Big Waaagh the next army I assemble, but I think that's probably dead now, sadly. And ironically enough, the super-cool revamped Ironjawz are what killed it. I was already having a ton of trouble fitting lists together before them, and even if I don't take any of the new stuff, the change to Ardboyz removes any chance of cheap battleline. Going from an 80 point minimum in old Ardboyz to 140 point minimum with Brutes is pretty rough. Some of this is self-inflicted, because I want to include a Maw-Krusha in the list just for the model. Still it's disheartening.
  13. The errata was to the casting number. I'm pretty sure it was always mounted only.
  14. They can also have very good rend, which can be dangerous to S2D. Multiple units with 2 or even 3 rend are pretty easy if they save the command points for it.
  15. IIRC, the Mortis Engine also boosts models restored.
  16. I haven't played as Sons, so can't speak to which is the best experience in that regard. But as for the age of the book, it is less than a year old and is of the current edition. So I don't anticipate it being invalidated before (at the absolute pinnacle earliest) winter 2024-2025.
  17. Yeah, depending on the price I might be tempted even without Aggradons, and see if I can offload the Kroxis.
  18. Pretty much. RAW, Primal Dice are nonsensical. However, while RAI is rarely an unfraught beacon to guide by, I think the fact that they errata'd several spells (such as the Warsong bomb from Sylvaneth) to work off unmodified casting as of this season is a reasonably clear indicator that Beliman's theory that they are modifiers except for where they would trigger a Primal Miscast is the intended result (poor templating though that may be).
  19. Would have been tempted by 2-3 of the Seraphon vanguard if it had Aggradons instead of Kroxigors. Oh well.
  20. I can't recall for certain, but I remember the old monopose High Elf Archers being among my first. This would have been around 2000-2001, give or take. I just googled them and took a look for the first time in ages, and boy howdy...they have not aged well. At the time they were the height of coolness to me, though.
  21. The thing with on/off the charge is that you really don't want to eat a charge from any meaningful unit on Dracothian Guard, who are close to 20 points per wound even for the cheaper variants. And if you charge something with Fulminators, there is usually nothing left to fight in the next combat phase. Their +damage scales way better with their existing statline than the Desolators +attacks does, even absent the advantages of charging to begin with. Finally, I'd add that reinforcing or especially double-reinforcing Desolators actually makes their special rules worse, which is another reason they aren't relevant for the new coherency. Single reinforced units are probably fine as something that can take a mid-sized punch and deliver it back harder, but are going to be just as skill-testing to make that work as it would be to ensure the Fulminators at the same or less size get the charge they want.
  22. Just scrolled back up after making my excited post about the Vengorian Lord and actually took a look at the list. I think there's some interesting concepts there, but I have some concerns. First off, as I mentioned in my other post--I love shield Grave Guard, but I suspect this is not their season. They don't benefit from Neferata's spell well now that the FAQ killed stacking AOD/Mystic Shield with Dark Mist, and enemy Hoarfrost is an existential threat to them. Meanwhile, the Great Weapons benefit more from 1s and 2s on friendly Hoarfrost more than shields do because it can help them bypass the biggest weakness on their profile. I also don't think Palisade is good, as much as I would like it to be. It's easy to dispel before it becomes relevant even in a season without Primal Casting. With that, it's basically dead in the water. And without Palisade, I don't think the Arcane Tome is worth it--maybe try the Amulet of Screams to shut down enemy casting? That's something I'd be putting in if I wasn't running Andtorian Acolytes in my current list (and still might make the change for, given how fragile the bonus from that battalion can be). I'm honestly against running most Endless Spells this season over all, which is a real shame. There are Battle Tactics to be scored by targeting the caster of one, and Primal Magic dispelling makes removing them a breeze. Finally, I find Soulblight doesn't care as much about low drops as many armies, so Battle Regiment is basically what you toss things into after squeezing out every possible additional bonus. Especially with Neferata allowing redeploys. That means Warlord is straight up better than Command Entourage for us. My suggestions: Drop the Arcane Tome, the Shield Grave Guard and the Palisade. Replace Arcane Tome with Amulet of Screams. Replace the Shields with the same number of Great Weapon Grave Guard or a double-reinforced Skeleton block (same points either way). And then the Palisade becomes points for a Triumph--maybe Inspired, since the units that care most about the charge in your army already have rerolls covered. Alternately, take 10 Great Weapon Grave Guard and a pair of Necromancers, then replace Warlord with a 3-strong Acolytes battalion and drop the Amulet of Screams as well.
  23. 6 Dracoths with new coherency is interesting, but IMO it has to be the shooty ones. 4 Fulminators can already kill most units, even after a casualty, maybe 2 casualties. And the other melee Dracothian Guard aren't anywhere near as good as Fulminators. Maaaaaybe since they all got points cuts and Fulminators didn't? I need to check the current points gulf, but I suspect still no. But some combination of Fulminators, the shooty Dracoths, and cheaper cavalry might do work. Leaning into shooty cav also means you can clear chaff off objectives or screening positions without needing to commit your limited bodies to combat as much.
