  1. ah yeah true. I should say "units it applies to that are outside of the batallion". You are right though, that if they made it for any unit, regardless of mount, then I would be pretty excited for it.
  2. Wow, ok?? Talk about uninspired.... This may go from "garbage" to "slightly less garbage" if its for all units in the army. But I doubt it will be.
  3. If there was no shooting in combat and / or no shooting into combat AND there were good new Look out Sir rules, then I would be ok with the overwatch thing. If it still made sense that is. I am open to it at the end of the day. The extent to which reaction points will affect battletomes is dependent on if they are connected to command points or not. i.e. if you spend CP to use them, or if they're their own points currency to spend. If its the latter, then perhaps it'll be like 40k where you get x amount of points dependent on game size. If it's the former then...well all I will say is Seraphon
  4. I have a sliver of hope that Kragnos is something to do with new Dragon Ogres. In WHFB, there was Krakanrok the Black, a mountain sized Dragon Ogre that slept under the earth / in the mountains. Please please please I just want a reborn Kholek Suneater. If Sigvald can be brought back, my boy Kholek deserves it too.
  5. The last direct from GW thing I bought was the Feast of Bone box, which I split with a friend. Since then I have bought mostly from third party sites (wayland and elements are a bit harder now because of Brexit and all that), but also from classifieds and other "second hand" sites. In Germany we have something called "Ebay Kleinanzeigen", which is just a classifieds site / app that ebay run. Guess what? Its really awesome. I just have a few keywords saved and I get notifications when those keywords are in the title of newly listed items (I have "warhammer" as a keyword and get like 10 notifications a day at least) and with enough patience you get can some crazy good deals even on new things. 40k related, but I got 2 boxes of custodes praetor bikes, one box of allarus custodians and a box of custodian guard for 90€....New in the box...INCLUDING SHIPPING! I almost passed out from disbelief when I confirmed the deal with the seller. At GW that is 175€! Sure this was a very rare occasion. I also managed to snag a Katakros new in the box for 55€ including shipping. Its not that hard to get some good deals on unpainted but built stuff as well. Like I love the hobby as much as the next person, but GW just force me to be more efficient with my money and the more I look elsewhere, the more I see that GW rely heavily on the hype and the need for people to buy things instantly. Im already looking into other paint brands as well.
  6. God that OBR silhouette looks incredible! Looks like the Soulreaper's bigger (and better) brother.
  7. That and the fact that all major characters / factions must simultaneously win and lose in some way with these kinda books, so as not to make it completely one sided and anger the fans of one faction. It's basically what happened with Katakros and OBR with the Wrath of the Everchosen: - Katakros takes the gate- Win - Gets shanked by Archaon- Loss - Ah ha, but he learnt some tricks for their next fight and he's got loads more bodies for his soul to reside, so he is undefeatable!- Win - But said shanking left a wound to his soul or something even in his new body - Loss
  8. I agree its even beyond Teclis levels of idiocy. Just wanted to point out its not entirely impossible :D Regardless of Teclis's true reasons or true losses at the battle, my guess is that Nagash will either use the Hyshian Aelven bones from the battle or make use of the bones from Ulgu Katakros received from Morathi to get his revenge and take the fight to Hyish at some point in time.
  9. But also very Teclian. He basically did try to kill off an entire race he himself made let's not forget. He's not exactly winning any father of the year awards is he?
  10. I think all the points (hur hur hur) were covered by others as to why this (non) FAQ is a massive letdown and that GWs justifications just don't make sense. What really grinds my gears though is GW's community marketing speak acting completely oblivious to this fact: "Has your army changed in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar January FAQ?" - No GW, it hasn't. You know that, and you know that I know that. You literally tell me in the same article that you haven't really changed anything. Why are you pretending it has and why put this as the title of an article about how you haven't changed much? "The result? A comprehensive set of FAQs covering numerous factions, plus Broken Realms: Morathi." - Comprehensive: "including or dealing with all or nearly all elements or aspects of something.". * looks at FAQs* "Oh, only 6 armies updated..." 'nuff said here I think "We’ll have another big update – including Pitched Battle Profiles – in the next set of FAQs later on this year." - I admire the confidence GW, but you're pointing the gun at your own foot here. I get that vaccines are rolling out now across the world, but things ain't gonna be back to normal by the Summer FAQ, which means that if there are still "not enough tournaments / games / feedback" and thus "not enough data", then you've basically painted yourself into a corner. Then you either release points and show us you CAN do it without lots of feedback, or you don't and I have to watch Kroak's dumb 320point face laughing at me from the other side of the table for another 6 months. "Did you miss the 41st Millennium-flavoured FAQ earlier this month? Go take a look at the Warhammer 40,000 updates here." - Yes GW, that's it, guide me to the FAQs of the other game you make and show me all those nice points changes you managed to do, despite the reduced games due to Covid. May as well just kick me in the nuts and be done with it. Edit: Part two! "You’ve all been playing games, reading rulebooks, and submitting your questions and comments – thanks for that!" but yet "We have decided to withhold any changes to Pitched Battle profiles in this update because of the reduced number of games being played around the world and, therefore, the reduced amount of feedback and results from events that would follow them." Schrödinger's FAQ - Where enough games / feedback have simultaneously been and not been played / given. "Although a small number of events were still able to take place last year, there is not enough data for us to confidently and accurately provide points changes to the system" but yet and https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/10/22/metawatch-warhammer-age-of-sigmar-1-list-building-with-dan-street/ It boggles the mind....
  11. Im hoping that we get a little more than just a / some battallion, seeing as the last book the factions got new sub-factions and / or reworks for some of their units. I would at least expect the same here too. Does anyone know if in the book one teaser, they said something similar? Lets hope our warscroll battallions are SCE level from the Morathi book, and not StD level....
  12. I get where you are coming from, and in general I am generally not happy about leaks, as it does damage a company's ability to market its own products how it wants. But personally, this is 1000% times better than days and days of rumour engine teasers which ultimately amount to nothing within a timeframe that makes sense. By nothing I don't just mean "on the 25th they didn't reveal what those rumour engines were", which I will say is annoying in its own right. What I mean is that its a GW tried and true practice of teasing out every. last. drop of hype milk from us, the consumer cows and it just doesn't do anything for me anymore. It creates no buzz or hype in me to see a small piece of a puzzle and trying to guess which of the 5 or 6 possible factions across 2-3 (maybe more) games it could belong to. If GW had done nothing else all of December but shown a clear, crisp photo of this model, it would have Orthodontists all over the world fully booked for weeks because of all the jaws that dropped to the floor. I am not a massive fan of leaks like I said, but these leaks are far far more interesting that rumour engines, because at least they show something that is more tangible and substantial. But most importantly, it doesn't make me feel like I am being taken for a ride. Just my opinion of course. Edit: I know the counter point to what I just said is "Well, they were going to show a clear, crisp photo during the livestream" and don't get me wrong, I know that. My point is more to the frustration of these rumour engines and GW's lack of substantial teasers I do kinda like how GW are handling the Old World reveals atm. Its piecemeal, but methodical. It would be great to have this done for new AoS releases. Stretch the reveal window a bit longer but have it more thorough and going into some design philosophy of the army, instead of packing all the info in a week.
  13. How are you using the Deathglaive btw? Are you usually alpha striking with 1 / 2 or all the units in the battallion? If so are you hitting one flank or just spreading out to lock your opponent in for as long as possible whilst your battleline hold the objectives. How are you dealing with shooting or heavy magic? Do you have an example list by any chance?
  14. Hi Everyone, First time in the realm of Chaos in these forums. So I've got the chance to get my brother into the hobby and join our plastic crack addiction. We're gonna have a game over TTS soon (as we live in different countries) to give him an intro to the game. I showed him some models and he ended up liking the look of Tzeentch the most, especially the Lord of Change. I'd like to get a 1250pt list for him that sort of encompasses the magic, shooting and even the melee potential of the army. I was thinking something like this: - LoC - Gaunt Summoner on disc - Chaos Marauders x20 - Acolytes x10 - Flamers x3 - Tzangor Enlightened x6 1240 / 1250 This list is basically just from the very limited understanding of the army that I have. I wanted to include the LoC as he liked the model so much and I thought with the Gaunt Summoner, he would get to use the pink horror summon and shenanigans that come with it. Marauders are there to basically all but guarantee the charge, acolytes just for cheap battleline. Flamers and Tzangor are there for showcasing shooting and melee respectively. What do you all think? Obviously its an intro game so there doesn't have to be loads of synergy and I would actually prefer not to have lots of overlapping things to worry about. I doubt we will even play with Covens, command traits or artefacts in this first game, just to reduce the amount of mental tax needed to remember all these things. Probably just stick with the base allegiance abilities minus the Gifts of Worship ability (as again this may be too much). Anyone have any other suggestions for a list? What about changing the Tzangor x 6 to Tzangor Enlightened on disc x 3? To have something speedy? Anyone else have experience with into games using Tzeentch and did you / do you recommend just sticking to the base allegiance abilities for now? Thanks for any help!
  15. I agree with Sception, that perhaps a little low on Mortek. I guess you are worried about the crawlers being shot if you are taking the balistari battalion? If so, I think 20 mortek is quite the investment to dedicate just to protecting the crawler. Similar with the deathriders, 15 in one unit is a lot and may be quite difficult to navigate around the board. Using the Petrifec list, I would switch it up to something like this: - Liege - Helm of the ordained - Boneshaper - Could take Godbone armor - Soulmason - Could also take Godbone armor (up to you) Battleline Mortek x 20 Mortek x20 Mortek x10 Kav deathriders x 5 Kav deathriders x 5 Art. Crawler Crawler Batt. Kavalos Lance
  16. Its very similar to a list that I want to run at some point. It's basically the same but replace one Boneshaper and the Soulmason with Arkhan and the Deathriders for another 10 Mortek. Seems like it will be a fun list. If you ever get to pick the realm you fight in, be sure to always pick Ghur because the realm spell is perfect for Stalliarch Lords. Have you tried your list our yet? P.s. Just in case you didn't know already, you don't have to give the Liege Kavalos the first artefact and can instead give an artefact to the Boneshaper (as the wording says "the first Liege to get an artefact...").
  17. Haha yeah, maybe I am just used to being spoiled! I completely agree, and I do also definitely agree a change needed to happen. Despite what others are thinking, I think Rerolling 1's is a good change from my initial thought of it, as it actually hits Mortek guard more so than other units. My particular point is 100% just on the Rerolling 1's change being for melee only. I did some calculations, albeit I am sure they are all super basic and some who is better at Mathhammer can probably correct me: If you have 20 attacks, at 3+ / 3+ / -1 / 1 dmg, you get this much damage overall: Old Petrifex : 3+ save unit (e.g. Deathriders): 4.44 Damage 3+ Mortek Guard: 2.96 Damage New Petrifex: Melee 4+ Save Unit (e.g. Deathriders): 5.44 dmg (22.5% increase) 4+ Mortek Guard: 4.44 dmg (4+ RR is the same as a 3+ save - 50% Increase) - This change hits Mortek harder, because whilst other units lose the save, but get a RR1, Mortek already have a RR all, so they don't get anything "back" to replace the lost save. Shooting 4+ Save Unit (e.g. Deathriders): 5.93 dmg (33.6% increase) 4+ Mortek Guard: 5.93 dmg (33.6% increase - Because they don't get to RR anyway in shooting. I guess these calculations probably aren't giving the best picture, but I just wanted a quick look at the impact of the changes and try to quantify them really. 22.5% more damage in melee and 33.6% in shooting on average is fine of course. This particular change does hit Mortek more, which I guess were an added thing people had issues with. I'll reiterate that it's not like I am against this change. I'm just a bit perplexed as to why the extra disadvantage to shooting was added. I don't know from personal experience so much, but wasn't PE already weak to shooting? Or was it only high rend shooting? Given the immediate following battletomes, it does seem odd to add this extra weakness (not trying to say that "newer books being a counter is enough" so to speak). Edit: I'll try and answer my own question - Could it be that its to incentivise more aggressive play? So despite the lore showing a defensive army, they've decided to make PE the more aggressive hit hard faction, in combination with Stalkers and Morghast?
  18. Regarding the OBR fix: What are people's thoughts on the "Melee only" aspect of the new RR1's ability? Personally I feel its a little uncalled for. If it was just a flat RR1's (so basically a free Mystic shield for all) I would be super happy with this change, even as an OBR player. It would be a good solid nerf and still have a broad defensive buff. But the melee only does kinda gripe me for some reason. It feels a little bit unnecessary and just as a gut feeling, makes it seem as though they wanted to ensure Nagash still has some level of defensive utility with his CA in PE. Don't get me wrong, I am still pretty happy with the change, just that the "melee only" part juuuuuust tipped it into the "maybe that's just a bit too much" for me in my opinion. Especially as strong shooting is way more prevalent now. What are people's thoughts?
  19. The change was to be expected. GW was bound to do something with this much fuss being kicked up by people. As for choosing RR 1's, well if you look at the GHB and the LRL BT, you see they've been adding lots of RR1's to things as basically a fallback when they don't really know what to do, but want something quick. It's not the end of the world by far and it's nice to see only point reductions to accomodate the change. And again, we still have Mortis P. if we want the crazy save, albeit with more nuance and thought behind positioning and using Katakros, which I am all for of. Only thing I didn't expect is the "melee" only part. That kinda sucks, but it is what it is. I just hope we can finally move onto being the boogie man and I can actually take PE without being seen as some kind of monster for it.
  20. This is where I'm not sure, because the soulbound protector works "before" allocating a wound or mortal wound. The 6+ death save says "each time you allocate". So reading it in the typical sense of GW one could say you could pass it on first. Also if its the case where the hero has to do the 6+ first, then when you do the soulbound protector rule, what would happen if you get a 5+? Because the battalion essentially says " instead of passing it on, negate it instead". This would mean you fail to pass on a wound on a 1, 5 or a 6.
  21. Sure, I was mostly being sarcasting regarding the viability Still will be an interesting rules interaction for GW to sort out.
  22. The new "only one after save" rule is going to be interesting with how the Aegis Immortal battalion will work. Let's say you have Empower Nadarite Shields on the Immortis guard, or the Archai is the body guard. You can declare the soulbound protector rule before the 6+ death save on the hero, as it states "before" allocating a wound or mortal wound. On a 2-4 you pass on the wound to the Immortis or Archai and a 5+ the wound or mortal wound is negated all together. Simple so far. But with the new rule, does that mean that if I only get a 2-4, do I still get to do the Archai 5+ after save (or an Immortis Empower Nadarite Shield) on Mortal Wounds, or 6+ death save on regular wounds, because no true after save was made? Technically it's a shrug to minion ability after all. Could be a nice cheeky way around the new ruling. Aegis Immortal meta inbound!? We all laughed before at the Aegis Immortal before, but looks who's laughing now.....
  23. I think it is pretty safe to say that there will be a nerf, it's just to what extent. I do wonder if they will remove the rend rather than the save though, as the "super tough bone" is the core of what the subfaction is supposed to be, and removing the save would be counter to that fluff. A replacement to either would be fine in the end though, but my fear is they will do a half measure like "+1 save for the first round" kinda thing, which keeps the theme, but effectively does nothing in 90% of situations. As much as I know it's unlikely, I would love for some boosts to the other subfactions. Well, mostly just Ivory Host to be honest.
  24. Let's say Petrifex +1 save gets gutted and these point leaks are true, won't this just create a Katakros and Mortis Praetorian meta? What do you think? Isn't it just swapping a board wide +1 save for a slightly more fidgety one, and swapping rend for better to wound rolls / To hit rolls with the Arch-Kav and command ability? I guess there is slightly more counterplay and knocking down Katakros, which would actually be fun as an OBR player to actually have some decision making. At least if these point changes are true, the Katakrosian Deathglaive just went down by 60 points, which is pretty sweet in a Stalliarch Lords list. That is enough to take a 30 block of Mortek to a 40. Not bad at all.
