  1. Cheers 👌This is the video that helped me when I was stuck. The technique is called feathering funnily enough. There’s plenty of content out there and they only touch on it briefly here but it’s fairly straightforward. I ended up dry brushing, then edge highlighting. Then I wet blended using this feathering technique.
  2. Well it’s taken about a month with a few setbacks along the way, by he’s finished. Back into dawnrider hell lol. Trying to everything painted that need subassembly so I can get 2k ready for the table.
  3. You can only reroll a dice once, so you get the reroll bubble with the alter and with the General in this case. Just gives you the option to move away from the alter I guess. Would be handy for Dark Feast off the top of my head
  4. This actually looks solid as for a tournament list. Blood sacrifice on riptooth and Magores fiends for maximum blood tithe generation. I assume the untamed beasts are a screen out front for each unit of 9 mighty skullcrushers. Then just try and get a hero or monster kill with the units of 9 skullcrushers to get them down to a 2+ save at 45 wounds lol. I’d probably be looking to use that blood tithe for hero phase charges too I guess. Id be interested to hear a battle report for sure.
  5. Edit: This would not be a mortals list unfortunately, normally you’d use Reapers of Vengeance. You can only use the 6” pile in with daemons so it’s typical to take hounds as battleline.
  6. For the FEC matchup, the perfect counter is a tyrants list with 3-4 bloodthirsters. Skarbrand BoIR and BoUF are probably the best combination for a 3 thirster list. The key is BoUFs command ability “Rejoice in the slaughter”. You can completely negate the “fights at the start of the combat phase” by using this. Instead of charging the terrorgiest as normal, you run all of your daemon up to within 3 1/2” to 6” making sure they’re within 16” of the BoUF. At the start of the combat phase you use the command ability. The terrorgiest can’t attack at the start of the combat phase because they’re not in combat. Then use the 6” pile in and attack with Skarbrand or BoIR. If you’re worried that a single attack won’t take it out you can pile in a unit of flesh hounds first. This will force him to target them with the terrorgiest as nothing else is in combat, then pile in your bloodthirsters at your leisure and take it out. You can take a crimson crown with the BoUF which works quiet well since you’ll be using that CA consistently throughout the game. If you’re using this method you won’t really gain any benefit from tyrants of blood but it’ll keep drops down and probably come in handy once things start to break up a bit as the game progresses.
  7. For anyone else out there struggling to paint the spirit from Teclis to a standard they’re happy with(like myself lol), I’ve been forced to learn to wet blend. I thought I’d share my process here (including my failures), hopefully it’ll help someone. So initially I thought I’d use a contrast paint then dry brush it. That failed. I added edge highlights and still wasn’t happy. I found the small feathers on the front edge of the wings come up well with a shade in the recesses around each feather with a edge highlight on each feather also. Some of the detail isn’t great so this worked well for me. For the rest of the feathers I wet blended from dark to light at the tips. Something about the three tiers of feathers on the top, just didn’t look right until I blended from dark to light. I used a process called feathering which YouTube can probably explain better then me. Basically just use a brush for each colour then pull the colours together with a third damp clean brush. I also used contrast medium to dilute my highlight paint down to the same consistency as my contrast paint. Ive been stuck on this for 2 weeks and it had completely stalled my progress with the army. Hopefully this is of some use.
  8. For the daemon list you’ll want 3x5 flesh hounds for battleline (You can swap this out for gore pilgrims to get your drops down as mentioned above) They get reroll 1s to hit from the bloodthirsters and you’ll have 3-4 of those providing that buff so it’s worthwhile. They also make good units to summon because of the reroll charge on the warscroll, so you have a good chance of getting them into combat on the same turn. Get 3 bloodthirster kits plus Skarbrand and make one of each, they’re all viable apart from the exalted greater daemon of khorne. Tyrants of blood is the go to daemon battalion. Take 3-4 bloodthirsters at 2k points. It’s worth noting that you can modify the attack characteristic of Skarbrands Carnage axe to 3. If you buff him with wrathmongers and a bloodsecrator then double attack with “Leave none alive” from the Reapers of Vengeance Slaughterhost, you’ll pump out more damage then anything else in AoS When you combine tyrants of blood with reapers of vengance you can chain all 4 bloodthirster attacks back to back then double attack with the last one. Also consider Archaon for daemon lists. He can double attack with Reapers of Vengeance. He is also a mortal so you can reroll wounds with a bloodstoker. Plenty of options for variation there. I’ll be here all day at this rate so I’ll leave it at that for now. Any questions about daemons I’m happy to help.
  9. Hey guys, I’ve got a rules question I’m looking for some help with. Do you apply the mortal wounds from outrageous carnage before or after any damage from the axe? Im just imagining a scenario that will no doubt come up at some point. BoIR into morteks that are screening a harvester. Harvester is within 8”. Let’s say i roll enough 6s to drop the harvester. Would the mws be applied to the harvester first as I roll them? Or is it after the save roll and after half the damage to the morteks is negated with the harvesters heal?
  10. Nice work 👌 sounds like you’re making better progress then me lol. I’m guessing there’s no sub assembly required here? Just a bit of patience around the right arm is it? Mine are still in the box. I’m battling through Teclis and some dawnriders right now, slowly losing my mind.
  11. I think my strategy is going to be a complete paint job on the horses first. Keep moral up for as long as possible then hopefully once the sub assembly begins I’ll be close enough to the finish line to get home without losing my mind.
  12. This answers so many questions lol. Perfect, thank you 👌
  13. Just wondering what sub assembly everyone’s done on their dawnriders?
  14. Has anyone looked into movement tray options yet? I’m assuming mag trays so you can move models off easily when you want to break the shining company.
  15. Cheers for the pointers, I’ll check it out. That is beautiful 👌
  16. Just wondering if anyone has gone with a heated metal scheme for the wardens spears? A blue/purple tip like an overheated gun barrel for example. I’m tossing round the idea in my head. Just about up to the spears on my batch paint.
  17. Yea just to keep it simple. It’s not really visible. I painted the leather straps on the back of the breastplate too but you can hardly see them.
  18. I painted the inside of the armour on the main front and back sections and glued those together. Then the top of the skirt and underside of the cape before gluing that on. Came together pretty quick after that.
  19. Hey team. Love the models, I’m wanting to batch paint 2k points straight off the bat then add to the army from there. Nothing too scary in my local group, Khorne daemons, OBR(no shooting), Nighthaunt, LON. Just wondering if there’s any auto include models/battalions I should know about? Any pointers for a good core to a 2k force would be appreciated. Cheers
  20. Anyone have experience taking on OBR? One of the boys has just gotten his OBR army to table top. We had a couple of games and went 1 for 1. Seems like a decent match up for my daemon heavy lists. He’s running Nagash, morteks and Harvesters at this point. No shooting. I have about 5k of khorne to pick from, mainly deamons. I’m missing a few mortal heroes, bloodcrushers, all S2D except a daemon prince. Just wondering if there’s any tips and tricks out there for taking out harvesters. I was relying on bloodtithe movement, flying over the top, BoIR splash damage, BoUF shooting, blood boil. Anything else I’m not thinking of?
  21. Hey guys just double checking, if I run the Vanguard Auxillary Chamber does that count as a single drop? Or do I drop it in 3 for each battalion? I’m assuming that it is a single drop but I just want to double check. I’m going to be doing some pretty terrible things with those Longstrikes so I’d hate to get the drops wrong on top of that lol.
  22. Beautiful. If you have the models you should try this for sure
  23. I hadn’t considered this. I’m pretty interested in trying this out. Do you happen to have the winning list that? I’m curious what they used in conjunction.
  24. I’d definitely get the bloodstoker in there for a mortal heavy list. Bump the mighty skullcrushers up to a unit of 6 and you’ll get more bang for your buck on the initial charge. Or drop the 3 out. In the long run I’d probably look at swapping out the manticore for a daemon prince. In a gore tide a daemon prince is pretty insane with thronebreakers torc and hew the foe. Plus that command ability is nuts. Get the alter for sure, that’s a must. In terms of daemons maybe just grab 5 flesh hounds. Since you’re running a goretide you probably won’t want to summon anything else. No double attack so probably not worth it. Hounds give you an unbind and vanilla reroll charge so you can try and get them in immediately. Or hang them back for an objective
  25. I’ve never been happier to be wrong lol. Just found the faq 👌 brilliant.
