  1. Thanks, that's a bummer 😅 I assumed that there would be a trend like the book and 4 themed boxes to go along with it like the first one. It's all good
  2. The harbringer book mentions rules for four themed armies of renown, each with new allegiance abilities: Trugg's Troggherd, the Grunta Stampede, King Brodd's Stomp, and the Grundstok Expeditionary Force Now there's preorder for the Trugg's Troggherd. Is there any word if these other armies of renown come to preorder? Didn't all four sets come at once with the first harbringer book? 😀
  3. Hey guys, how many units of tree revenants do I realistically need? I have 10 tree revenants assembled, 32 dryads and 10 tree or spite revenants still in sprue. I was wondering should I build them also to tree revenants or build them into spite revenants. I also have Drycha but no spite revenants.
  4. Thank you AverageBoss and Django for your comments! >"What models do you like? What heroes (because there a lot of them) do you think have cool abilities?" I adore Celestant-Prime, Aventis Firestrike, Neave, Vandus, Lord-Castellant with Gryph-hound and Stardrake. Honestly, no problems in the hero department, anything goes! I try to save some money to get rank and file troops so these larger minis are mostly out of the question right now, but in the future will definitely look into them. Could you build Lord-Arcanum on dracoline from one of the Evocators on Dracolines? I'd like to play durable army that requires some strategy other than charge in and battle, maybe careful maneuvering and other tactics. I like shooting and magic but don't like if it's the main thing (ruled out Kharadron overlords earlier because of it), I like the idea of "holy warriors" against impossible odds so Sequitors do well with me. At this stage when I haven't played a game yet I'd like to leave endless spells away for now. I was wondering if in the end for example, soul wars + tempest of souls with an additional 3 sequitors from easy to build box would be a good way too? Still not sure about the Exorcism Soulstrike. EDIT: Oh geez, I just realized that if soul wars + tempest is a good choice, I could potentially get the two mentioned sets with little over what the Exorcism Soulstrike would cost and get a whole additional army or if needed, sell it away to cover half of the cost.
  5. Hello guys! Been hopping between possible armies, even started Idoneth Deepkin (passed them on in the end) and now I'm keen on starting both Sylvaneth and perhaps Stormcast Eternals. I've been digging through youtube, reddit and here for armylists and builds but still for some reason, feel kind of lost. From what I have gathered Stormcasts are in an awkward position at the moment but I think it will be a long time before I find myself in an tournament. What should I get for 1000 points to start? I like playstyles that are clever, so preferably variations in strategy so the answer is not always to dash and smash. I enjoy wide variety in an army of hammer & anvil, magic, ranged... Would Stormcast Eternals Exorcism Soulstrike -box be a good place to start? I would not like to go through the hassle of selling soul wars nighthaunt halves and the unit sizes are annoying. How about the Vanguard Start collecting?
  6. Hello people, I was thinking of collecting Sylvaneth. I've tried to scout this thread on what should I potentially buy and still don't know! I'm going to build towards 500 and 1000pts first and then maybe expand when I get those painted. Let's say I have 100-200 euros to spend, would a start collecting box + dryad box be a good core, or is another big tree man necessary/needed? How many Wyldwoods do I need? Kurnoth Hunters are so expensive to get many boxes of, so could I run one unit of three alright? I don't like the look of spite revenants so I avoid them when I can(I like tree revenants though), I don't intend to be super competitive. I've tried to read the battletome but I'm still quite lost :'D
  7. This is what I am probably doing as well. Do you use Volturnos body and replace only the head?
  8. Hello, I literally just build the mount from the kit (using Uasalls head as it is much cooler) and was going to ask the same question. After doing some research, it seems that Volturnos shines brighter with his larger range command ability, larger range re-roll ability and the weapon is also very strong. I just prefer the Akhelian King model with the helmet and perhaps spear much more. Could I get away by playing Volturnos with a helmet on if I build rest of the model like Volturnos so I can play either Volturnos or Akhelian king at times? I'd imagine that I wouldn't get away with the spear. Don't want to buy another kit just to play both.
  9. Thanks for the help guys, editing this comment as went through armies with gf and she didn't like Nurgle but loved dwarfs(so do I luckily) so I'm switching camps 😅 May we face in battle one day!
  10. Hello guys, I started an Idoneth Deepkin Army and really dig the aesthetic. I'm looking for an evil(maybe chaotic) army to counter their orderly ways. I got a Nighthaunt army but the flimsiness and quantity scared me away and I ended up selling them. I'm looking for an elite army of sorts which is fun to paint and that has nice lore and Papa Nurgle caught my eye. I've seen many 2000 point lists and saw that the model count was shockingly low so that's a plus too. I like tankiness, defensiveness and regeneration so I think Nurgle checks those boxes too. How should I start collecting Nurgle? Couldn't find many armylists in 700-1250 point range that are up to date. Are the Pusgoyles viable at the moment or are they too expensive as the consensus seems to be still. Maybe Daemons of Nurgle SC box or Maggotkin SC box? What after then? I saw a Gnarlmaw unit and looked cool, but maybe prioritize something else first? Appreciate any help ^^
  11. Thank you all for the help. Would 2x Start Collecting Boxes! Be a good start? It's not the best value compared to some boxes, but would get 2 soulrender, 6 eels and 20 thralls. Also, would people mind at tournaments, if I would hypothetically build both options of eels but mix and match those so I could play 6 more offensive or 6 more defensive or 3 + 3 when needed? I'd like the variety.
  12. Once again, thank you! I feel very good about my purchases now. I don't mind if we're not the strongest and 3/2 is plenty in my book! I expected much worse I will look into Reikenor and Olynder at later date, but I'm going to make due with Knight of Shrouds on steed and pick Bladegheists for the same money that would have went to Reikenor. All in all, Nighthaunts are easily my favorite looking faction at the moment and that should be all that matters anyway. So having 2x Soul Wars right now, I'm probably expanding with 2x Spirit Hosts boxes(6) and Bladegheist box(10). In any case, painting all these models will take eons.
  13. I probably pick up some bladegheists, they do look pretty cool and some unique color scheme will make them stand out. I do feel bummed out that Nighthaunt only - armies seem to be so underpowered, I felt so sure of them before. All of this feels so complicated. I'd rather keep things simple as I'm just starting and would not like to mix and match. Did I make a mistake with 2x Soul Wars and would I get an alright list with 2x soul wars nighthaunt core and then in addition if I'll pick 6x spirit hosts and 10x bladegheists? If there are better choices than spirit hosts or bladegheists let me know. Goal is 1000 - 1500 points. Also regarding the last bit, where Nighthaunt gets hit because of LoN, that makes me pretty frustrated. Would much prefer them to be their own thing so to say at least in this point. Sorry for many questions but all of this feels so overwhelming at the moment.
  14. Thank you, very good points. I used to craft movement trays by taking unit trays and cleaning everything, leaving only the "borders" of the tray and gluing that on a cardboard slate. Worked well by my experience and probably will do that again. Are Nighthaunt armies really in this bad shape, that they can't be competitive without being part of legions of Nagash? Troubling news. I believe I'll play the majority of time casually or for fun though. I don't like the LoN models that much except for mortis engine and mortachs. MSU means many small units(?), so I plan on fielding 2x 20 chainrasp hordes maybe with 10x reapers and probably 10x Bladegheist Revenants/Harridans along with other units. I know almost nothing about games or rules at the moment but I've been trying to catch up by reading discussions. Apparently the point drop was not enough, will look into bladegheists/more reapers.
  15. Thank you! Good thing that the second set is worth it. Might be able to pull of some conversions, like converting a couple glaivewraiths into reapers. That's the thing; I love all the models... Although I feel like Bladegheists are maybe too close in looks compared to glaivewraiths and reapers so maybe Dreadscythe Harridans or Hexwraiths? Are either of those worth it with new changes? I'd like to keep my options open and maybe attend local tournament sometime. 🤔 I was thinking of getting either Reikenor or Olynder to lead the army, then 1-2 set of Spirit Hosts and to top it all of Dreadscythe Harridans/Bladegheist Revenants/Hexwraiths. Maybe if Knight of Shrouds is enough, I could replace Reikenor or Olynder with another rank and file box. (I adore Olynder and like Reikenor though) My goal is 1000 - 1500 points at first. So far I'd have with two soul wars set: -2x Knights of Shrouds on Ethereal Steeds- 2x Lord Executioners- 2x Guardians of Souls- 2x Spirit Torments- 10 Grimghast Reapers- 8 Glaivewraith Stalkers (Maybe convert even more stalkers into Reapers, don't know about unit size though)- A 40-strong Chainrasp Horde Edit: I like the sense of impending doom and resurrecting models. Like the feel of hordes of endless undead, I also like to apply turtle tactics in rts games and like to field "evil armies" in masses usually. That's one of the reasons I like the idea of 40 chainrasps.
