  1. I agree but I'm not sure why do we all keep talking about an initial release? I can't think of a single AoS army that got released in waves apart from Stormcast. And if that was the model for updating an army, why have we not seen 2nd wave release for Idoneth, or DoK or Fyreslayers etc? I worry that GW has accidentally over-promised with all their teasers and drip-feeding and that a lot of players (including myself) will just feel deflated if that picture is indeed the entire roster in the battletome.
  2. As cool is it sounds to imagine there are 4 fleshed out subcultures within Hysh, I'm wondering if we really will see much more than what has been shown. I'm only basing this on Ossiarch Bonereapers, but they gave us 6 characters and 4 units, not including the dual-kit variants. They also gave us 2 large single model kits, then they folded the Morghast, Arkhan and Nagash into the range as it appears on the webstore. The same rough number count holds true for the Idoneth Deepkin in terms of their model range. So far for Lumineth, GW have given us 4 units and 4 characters (including the veiled lady) plus one large single model kit (classing Teclis as a character for the purposes of this). If we assume there's a couple of dual kits in what we have seen so far, we are looking at possibly 1 more large single model, and one or two more characters. They might fold Phoenix Temple into the faction similar to how the Morghast etc. can be in LoN or OBR. That gives us a nice range, comparable to other AOS factions, but leaves very little room to flesh out 3 more subcultures. It also means they can comfortably tease the last of the range of April 4th as they had scheduled. I'm a little "meh" when it comes to endless spells and scenery, but we might get that too. Also, to those speculating that Tyrion etc. will be a future release, they would have to be their own distinct faction going by GW's previous logic. I think the Tyrionic and Teclian factions will have a close relationship but be distinct factions, in a similar relationship that the Chaos armies have with Slaves to Darkness. Then if you have Malerion's army branch out into a similar relationship with a revamped Daughters of Khaine, you get the kind of symmetry that GW loves.
  3. I think one of the problem I am having is this: I'm totally fine with them giving HE an AOS update, and I have loved the reimagined factions so far. But they have painted the Lumineth in a classic Ulthuan colour scheme. To me the Mountain Aspect warriors give off a Tibetan vibe - I bet if the colour scheme leaned into that warrior-monk vibe the models would look much more appealing. But if you are going to push these guys in a new direction, push with the painting as well as the aesthetic. I've done a full 180 on this range. Imagine the Stoneguard with Buddhist-ish orange and burgundy robes. Swap out some of the gold for bronze. Switch the pearl gemstones for jade. I think this would give a much more appealing vibe personally. I can see the Yak-Spirit looking like a walking temple, and I'd paint Celennar as a snow leopard. I'd probably keep all the helms as I don't have the skill to convert, but one thing I might try for my elites or even just a hero would be a Namarti head with a green-stuff blindfold on for the old "blind master" meme. Overall feeling much more positive once I stop anticipating what they might look like and start playing with what they actually look like - hope others start to feel the same way.
  4. I don't know about anyone else, but I've been following the teasers since the first announcement and saving money for the eventual release, but it's been a strange process. It goes like this: Step 1) I get all hyped imagining what the models will look like Step 2) The release is shown and it is nothing like I imagined Step 3) I go to bed that night thinking "well I'm not collecting those" Step 4) I wake up the next day, look at the models again and think "Actually these guys look fantastic!" Is anyone else going through this process or am I developing schizophrenia??
  5. Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'll stick with the 3 units and keep one back for objective-grabbing. The other two will be charge blockers for Drycha and TLA allowing them an extra shooting/magic assault. I'll do a battle report when I first face the Ironjawz, although they will have their new rules by then so I'll probably just be cradling a bunch of snapped twigs like Rocket at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy I...
  6. Hi guys, I've just started building a Sylvaneth 2k army primarily because of the beautiful models and me being an avid painter. I do have a problem however... I love Tree Revenants - those models are amazing. Spite-revenants, much less so. Dryads, much, much, MUCH, less so. But from my reading of the rules in terms of battleline choices, this looks like the reverse order of usefulness. I've currently got 20 dryads, and 15 revenants (unassembled). I'm accepting that I'll need the dryads for my Branchwraith to churn out, but is there a clear-cut winner for battleline? My main opponent will be Ironjawz so I'm thinking 3x5 Tree Revs will be able to hang back then drop onto objectives in enemy territory late-game, but I'm sure they will die as soon as they get into combat. Is my only alternative big blocks of wood-hugging Dryads? Can't figure out how to get the most value out of the battleline tax... I do intend to run TLA general and Drycha (because I own them!) and my rule-of-cool won't let me skip Alarielle… These plus a Kurnoth deathstar pretty much fills out a 2k list. Sorry to ramble, my actual question is: Is 3x5 Tree Revs a viable battleline selection for 2k? Thanks!
  7. Ohhhhh yes, that was what was in my brain! What did you use for your purple on shrine/altar? I was thinking of a Thundertusk conversion for a war mammoth but it might be too small I guess
  8. Thanks a lot, I’ll definitely follow your advice and post some more pics when I’ve done a few
  9. Hi guys Im hoping to start a Khorne army but I’m not a fan of the red colour. I know that probably upsets Khorne but I’ve tried a test model with this icy theme and I wanted some feedback before I start painting 100 bloodreavers! Its worth mentioning that I’ll be making a mortal army, I love the Norse marauder theme!
  10. Hi guys, I'd really appreciate your opinion on my Gloomspite List. I don't want to be tabled by everyone I meet, but I'm also following the rule of cool and building a list based on a variety of kits I want to paint. The plan is for an initial 1000 points, expanding to 2000 points later on: Loonboss on Mangler Squig - 280 5 Boingrot Bounders - 100 5 Squig Hoppers - 90 Fungoid Cave Shaman - 90 20 Stabbas - 130 5 Loonsmasha Fanatics - 140 Squig Gobba - 160 Total - 990 points I figure this has a mix of everything to compete in all phases of the game. Expanding to 2000 I'd be looking to bring in a Colossal Squig, some Troggoths and double up on the Hoppers and Bounders. Is this list a complete disaster? Thanks in advance
  11. It's personal taste I guess. I did say the sculpts are amazing, even if they aren't my idea of fun. I think I'll try Gloomspite based on the responses and the amount of creativity the army seems to allow. Plus the random nature of the army might hide the fact that I'm an awful player...
  12. Trying to claw it back to rumours, what do we think the next new model range will be? It's nice of GW to tinker with existing ranges and release terrain/endless spells etc. but I'm itching for a new army release. The sculpts GW produce keep getting better and better, and for a hobbyist who really values the painting side of the hobby, I would love to hand over a bucket of cash for some gorgeous models. I had all my hopes pinned on Deepkin when I first heard hints of them, but when I saw the models I just heard Sebastian the crab singing in my ear. Then I saw Nighthaunt and decided against an army full of animated bedsheets... Yes I'm picky, but I'd love an army that was new sculpts, a range of unit types, and a variety of textures/details for a painting challenge. I think I got unlucky that the Deepkin aesthetic was such a turn-off but now I'm scared that the army of my dreams won't materialise... So what do you guys think? Should I A) hold my nerve with a new army just around the corner or B) settle on an existing new range i.e. Gloomspite Gitz?
  13. Hi, Noob SCE player here trying to craft a 2k point list and hoping for some community wisdom. My question is this: I hear quite a lot about how Stormcast lack cheap screening/chaff units. Is it worth piling in 400 points worth of cheap allied infantry? I'm thinking 40 corsairs at 240 points for instance. Or a wall of Eternal Guard with Fortress of Boughs protecting a gunline. Waves of skinks? The little voice in my head tells me I could have 2 KO frigates now too - imagine them guarding a gunline that can shoot through them! But that little voice is rarely correct.. Or is it better to spend those 400 points on more Stormcast?
  14. Good point! I was referring to the one before that with the harness and the studded skin...
  15. This is Ogor - 100%. The last rumour engine was also Ogor. My guess is either a Shadespire release, probably 3 models that double up as Maneaters, or a single hero to go with a new battletome.
  16. As someone who has been holding out for a darkoath release since Malign Portents, this is a little worrying. Can someone please talk to the dark whisperings in my head that GW might tease out Warcry releases for a few months then have a Xmas release for darkoath? If I don’t get my hands on new models soon I’m going to have to start painting landscapes...
