  1. Can I just say I did not knowingly or recklessly mislead the forum on 7th February. It was my belief that a big dino was on its way, and those close to me assured me this was the case. As soon as it became clear that no big dino was, in fact, arriving, I launched an inquiry with my mate Dave, and I have come here today to set the record straight. I stand by everything I said, as those were the facts as I understood them, at a very difficult time when lots of information was still coming in...
  2. I have a theory on this! I think Saurus Knights will be the one unit that doesn't get a revamp and the skink riders will be the new cavalry. Going way back to 5th ed. the only cavalry Lizardmen had was skinks so this might be a course correction. I think RE pretty much confirms Kroxigor and Salamanders are in more need of rework (failcast, bought as singles, etc) If I had to guess, I'd say we'll see a new big dino as the new Engine of the Gods - this is one of the coolest concepts in the Seraphon and leans heavily into the Aztec vibe, but its current form is extras on the (lovely but old) Stegadon sprue. My first ever box of models was the Lizardmen/Bret starter kit and I am sooooooo excited to pick up the scalies again!
  3. Yeeees, this! How come you don't work for the GW dev team? Or were you just... never chosen??
  4. This latest rumour engine could literally be Malerion. Someone cleverer than I could put together a selection of rumour engine pics that are still unsolved, even after the latest preview and all the Death releases that still looks creepy. If Malerion's [insert creepy made-up word]eth faction come out in early 2022 as predicted, they are going to have beasties with them. Could be shadow demons, or dragons, but those dragons will have to have a very different style to distinguish them from the new Draconith models.
  5. Hi guys, On the barbarian horde side of things, I'm looking at this list for my Ravagers army: All units are marked Undivided for sweet sweet battleshock immunity. The idea is to throw the chariots out with a Khorne-marked DP to block/slow the enemy from Turn One. The 30-blob of marauders advances with a heap of buffs from the little characters and warshrine. The Warstomper holds up a flank on its own, screened by the Ungors. The cultists grab objectives, and I summon in marauder horsemen each turn for more objective grabbing. I'm thinking of embracing the idea that S2D isn't very killy and just focus on board control and playing the objective game. The only thing I'm thinking is to remove the warshrine and chieftain and throw in another 30-blob for really oppressive numbers.
  6. I'm really curious to see the size of this model and if I can replace the head with a Dire Wolf or Thunderwolf so I can have a Skin-Wolf for my Darkoath army. Proxy him as a Chaos Lord on Foot maybe...
  7. Can you imagine if GW released a hobgrot warband with a Chaos dwarf daemonsmith and a bull centaur? The Internet would implode. There'd be a great disturbance in the force... as though millions of wallets suddenly cried out...
  8. Hey guys, Didn't think it would take so long to get my first update out there! So I've bought a few kits and decided not to test a colour scheme out on the Mammoth (name pending). I really want a horde of marauders, but I wanted them to look special. So here is my test model... Photo quality is not great but apart from the shield I've just been laying down base coats and feeling my way towards a colour scheme. The shield is just about finished though! So the conversion here is obviously based off a Kairic Acolyte. I trimmed the Tzeentch bits off him (because my horde is going to be Undivided) and had my first ever attempt at using Green Stuff! First, I moulded some boots around his bare feet - they look more like socks but I'm hoping between the painting and the base they will get a little lost. I replaced the Tzeentch icon on his belt with a chain from the Marauder Horsemen sprue, and popped a Marauder Horsemen head on. Next I went back to the Green Stuff and molded a fur pelt around his shoulders and back, plus some trim for his knees and around the edges of his bracers. Fur is really easy to sculpt and I want to keep that part as easy as possible for obvious reasons! The shield and the axe are from the Gors kit - they are bigger and more primitive than the actual marauder weapons and I think the scale works nicely. Finally, I have a pile of skulls from the Citadel skull kit, so I took 2, shaved the faces off with a scalpel and embedded them into the fur trim around the knees. I'm trying to imitate the Darkoath Chieftain as much as I can but I'm just relieved all of the proportions work. I bought 4 different boxes to build this conversion but I'll end up with 20 marauders out of it and I have lots of ideas for the rest of the bitz. Finally I've started setting up a base - I have a strange obsession with scenic bases... I know the palette on the models will be quite dull so I want the base to bring in some colour. So far I've used a cork tile, some grit and a little pool of Vallejo Water Effect to set up the structure, but I'll be looking to add to this with some vegetation and snow etc. The plan is to put a test model together completely, then start working on the mammoth - I figure I'll keep churning out the marauders in little breaks between "mammoth" painting sessions (haha). So what do you think of my first conversion? A lot of work for a horde army I know, but it's a labour of love!
  9. I can't believe I'm typing this, but I am now the proud owner of an actual, unassembled FW Mammoth! I don't care if he's been moved to Legends, he's bigger than my dog and therefore deserves at least equal loyalty. I'm going to create an entirely converted Darkoath army in his honour and I'm going to keep my progress tracked on this thread, partly for my own journaling purposes but also to share some hobby love with you Darkoath fans out there. Watch this space, as it is soon going to be filled with angry Vikings.
  10. Oh man, I'd be so proud of myself if I made this, and so terrified of having to actually paint it. Congrats man.
  11. I agree with this - even in Total War II the Greenskinz armies look so rag-tag and varied, I always assumed it was part of the appeal... My brother (and arch-nemesis) collects Orruks so I can't really get into Kruleboyz but I'd be looking to make Kruleboyz the main theme and start the conversions on some Brutes, Gore-Gruntas etc. Why not shove some Savage Orruk Boarboyz onto some Flesh Hounds, slap Skareshields over any Khorne markings, use the Boarboyz profile and call it Gnashtoof cavalry?
  12. I think the Kruleboyz make sense only if you view them as an expansion of the Warclans soup. Warclans already have boar boyz and Gore-Gruntas. I personally would love to see some kit-bashes for the Gore-Gruntas as they already look swampy. On the other hand, if you look at monsters for Warclans, you have the Mawcrusha and thats' it, unless you include the Rogue Idol. I think the Kruleboyz range has given Warclans players a range of options (ranged, chaff screens, easy access to MW's) that they didn't have before. Otherwise GW would give Kruleboyz everything and the rest of the Orruk range would become obselete. Think of factions like Mawtribes or Fyreslayers whose players would kill to have an expansion pack of kits come out for their army...
  13. I could see Dawnbringer Crusades being pushed a lot - mortal auxiliaries will push more people to buy the new SCE units even if its just a couple of flavourful heroes or unit that fills a gap for SCE lists. Plus GW mention the crusades a LOT. From a lore perspective it would make sense to have Skaven in with CoS for a boxed set. All those new settlements to be infested.. Undercities of Sigmar?
  14. I heard today that the October Chaos book is Darkoath... But the voices in my head say a lot of things. And I found a FW mammoth yesterday so....
  15. Thing is, I don't think Tyrion is going to be part of LRL. Controversial, I know. But if Tyrion and his aelves (Sunnysideupeth?) roll out as their own faction, GW gets to play with a different playstyle and a different aesthetic without bloating the Lumineth range any further. Then you have the Tyrionic and Teclian aelves as one coalition, Sylvaneth and Kurnothi together, DoK and Malerion's forces together. The only one that doesn't fit is the Deepkin. Here is where I have a great idea though... What if Malerion had a similar problem to Teclis, and the shadow daemons he uses rebelled or got exiled, then the shadow daemons come out as their own faction and form a coalition with Deepkin as the outcasts? That would be immense. And people who think that is too much aelf should maybe compare it to the fact that Chaos has 4 god-specific factions, each of whom can be split into daemon or mortal... I think there's precedent.
  16. When thinking about the potential release schedule for 3rd edition, I think we need to remember something. A lot of people are pointing out how soon Malerion is going to appear with his aelves, and it does look like Chaos Duardin will show up at some point. But I still think there's going to be a third major aelf faction appearing in 3rd. Tyrion! Think about it: 1) He shows up in the lore a lot, along with mention of his armies of disciples 2) We know there are four temples in Hysh and the Lumineth have two of them. The other two will be wrapped around Tyrion. 3) One of the recent posts on Warhammer Community talked about an image of Kragnos fighting two dragons, one dark and one light. Some people might think this is the two dragons just revealed for the SCE but I think this is a false lead. I think the whole story arc of 3rd is going to involve Malerion and Tyrion (dark and light dragon) emerging (along with their factions) to meet the threat of Kragnos etc. and eventually be forced to unite in order to defeat him. If you therefore assume 3rd edition needs a major Tyrion release and a major Malerion release, I think something like a full refresh of BoC is something that GW will struggle to fit in. I'd think it more likely that BoC ends up being souped into STD if I'm honest.
  17. Hi everyone, I recently painted some Kruleboyz, and I loved the colours and basing I stumbled upon while doing them. The models were destined for my brother and his existing Waaghh but I am now hooked on the idea of some barbarians. The only models left in my pile of shame are some Hedonites I'm struggling to finish due to the dread of actually using them! Ideally I'm looking for an army with lots of conversion opportunity, with theme being more important than competitive rating. So far my ideas are: Cities of Sigmar - leaning into dwarves and kit-bashing with Fyreslayers, some of the more generic looking marauder type humans, etc. Blades of Khorne/Slaves to Darkness - going all-out on the frozen Norsemen theme Ogre Mawtribes - lots of similar textures to the Kruleboyz so might translate well, but I'm stuck on how to convert them to a theme - maybe Space Wolves bitz? Which of these sounds cooler, or is there another faction that I'm missing who fits the bill? I'm attaching the Kruleboy that gave me the idea so you can see what I'm thinking of. Take a look, then see if you can picture an army of similar-looking models... Really appreciate any help before I sacrifice my wallet to the dark Gods/Sigmar/whatever...
  18. If my brother and his massive Ironjawz army wasn't my absolute nemesis, I'd happily collect a soup of Orruks. I like the idea of having a huge collection and pulling a range of lists from there. It's what always drew me to Chaos - can't remember which edition it was in Fantasy but you could soup mortals, beasts and demons in some crazy combos. I love Cities of Sigmar in theory, but I'm a painter first and foremost and the new kits are, in my opinion, a huge leap ahead of those older kits. I would love to see more units in these soup tomes use a range of races. Warcry does this really well (Spire Tyrants for example) but I'd love to see Greatswords or Irondrakes get this treatment. I understand the tome was a way of keeping old collections relevant but I think the Dawnbringer Crusades are a great excuse to start updating those model lines and make them more visually interesting.
  19. Hi all I'd really appreciate some help with my list as I haven't played a game yet and the 3.0 points changes have thrown me off balance. I'm quite relaxed about how competitive it is, I just need it to be 2k points! I bought models I liked the look of... So far I have built: 11 Blissbarb Archers 10 Blissbarb Seekers 10 Twinsouls Glutos Sigvald Shardspeaker Converted Lord of Pain Total is 2035 points, annoyingly. I've also got a unit of Spire Tyrants wielding Myrmidesh shields who were going to be 2 blobs of chaos warriors. If things get really bad I do have Archaon on a shelf somewhere. I have a keeper and 10 daemonettes for summoning. I figured if I made the Lord of Pain a general then 2x5 twinsouls and the blissbarbs give me enough battleline. But I can't figure out what to do.. I haven't built 5 of the seekers yet so these could be slickblades, but that would be even more points, yes? Basically I'm sitting with a heap of models and a headache, and I'd be sooooo grateful for any help in tweaking the list down to a playable 2k.
  20. I don't know if we will see any cavalry for Kruleboyz now. Unless they do a show where they talk about the big bow, the mirebrute etc and unveil the cavalry as a surprise. But even if so, I can see myself converting some Savage boarboyz using some Gutrippa bitz. Having said that, by the time I have 2 of each monster kit, plus Kragnos, plus my converted mega-gargant... I may not have room left for an actual Orruk...
  21. Is it weird that I am in love with the tree stump as much as the vulture sitting on it?
  22. Thank you! Yeah, the helmets on the Boltboyz made me think of the Falmer, but then once I made the base I just went for the generic northern barbarian vibe!
  23. I have to say, I'm really enjoying 3rd edition so far. Only had a couple of games but it feels much more involved. I like the new command point system a lot, although I would like to see new battletomes unleashing some more characterful reactive abilities for specific units rather than everyone spamming all-out-attack/defence every turn. I can't find fault with the models (shamelessly reposting my Skyrim-inspired Kruleboyz) which has always been the biggest draw for me, but now I'm finding the game system more engaging, I feel busier and my heroes feel more impactful which creates some really cool narratives within battles which is something I always loved. Loving my hobby at the moment.
  24. Climbing aboard the Kruleboyz hype-train! going for a God of War theme - what fantastic models!
