  1. I wouldn't mind that too much. I have a half painted Frostheart Phoenix that I was working on before End Times hit.
  2. From a uniqueness perspective, the Aelven tie to phoenixes has always been one of the faction's selling points. It will be interesting to see if they keep strong ties with the Phoenix Temples. While the article didn't really say much, I do like the hints that they've dropped that Tyrion and Teclis seem to be equally invested in this faction. I suspect that that might mean that Teclis is in charge of their more offensive armies (since he's the meddler), and Tyrion is in charge of their defenses in Hysh. Which mirrors some cryptic comments that Whitefang had dropped a little bit ago.

  4. Holy moley, I didn't realize it had been two weeks since the last article! I think we did a lot better this time around waiting for this article, compared to how we did between the first two articles.
  5. You know, I've been kind of been following this topic from time to time, and I think everyone has made a rather large assumption. Because of how info was released, every one assumed that the Seraphon Battletome would be released before the Lumineth. But nobody really knows that for sure. It would make practical sense to finish the cycle of 2nd addition books before releasing a new army. Yet, the timing and release of the Bonereapers should prove that GW does what they want with their release schedule. At this point, I think it might be taking too much for granted to assume what order things might be coming out. .....and I assure you that this is a totally unbiased point of view, uncolored by the fact that I want my Pointy Aelves naow!!!!
  6. Supposedly if the Heart of Avelorn (the pendant Alarielle gave to Tyrion for protection) ever broke, it would save Tyrion, but it would "destroy their love for all ages of the world." Well, it did break and save him. So now we have to wonder whether the Motal Realms count as a new world or just another Age of the world that was. That said, they did face the destruction of everything while holding hands. I really hope GW doesn't decide to completely scrap their relationship.
  7. They greatest weakness of AOS' story, in my humble opinion, is the way they handle Chaos vs. Sigmar. I understand that he's the hero of the setting (kinda hard to miss that since he has a whole Age named after him!), but GW goes out of their way to bludgeon you over the head with the fact that only Azyr and Sigmar stayed safe through the Age of Chaos. Tyrion, Teclis, and Malarion managed to capture one of the Chaos gods, yet the little fluff we have on Hysh talks about how the Realm of Light was still conquered by Chaos. By not really letting anyone besides Sigmar stand a chance against Chaos, they are kinda shooting themselves in the foot. That said, with Katakross establishing a foothold in the Eightpoints for Death, I am holding out some hope that they will let some of the other forces push back against the Darkness. And who better to establish another foothold for Order than Tyrion and Teclis?
  8. I could stand to have a more aggresive force. That was always one of the drawbacks of the High Elves of old, that they so rarely left Ulthuan that it made it hard to justify from a narrative perspective the battles you were fighting on the table top. To be an active force in the setting and not just reactive would be really cool.
  9. Hmm, so of that list, my top picks would be either Orruks, or STD. Orruks to continue the classic (not)Elf vs. (not)Orc rivalry. STD to perhaps continue the narrative that occured in WotE. .....unless we get a new Soulblight force for them to fight, which would tick all of my boxes.
  10. Considering we're still in the midst of the Soul Wars, does anyone think we might be fighting a Death army?
  11. I've always considered that one of the weaknesses of the 40k setting. Because the writers have very little to constrain them, they come up with all kinds of crazy things in the lore that you really can't represent on the table top. Even their poster boys, the average Space Marine, should be massacring things on the table top if they were as strong in game as they are in lore. And that's what I like about WHFB and AOS. Even though the setting has gotten wilder and crazier, AOS is still relatively believable, even during moments of epic conflict. And they seem to be doing a much better job advancing the narrarive comparitively. For example, they didn't have to have the nod to the Lumineth that they added into Wrath of the Everchosen, but placing that little tibit there is a great lead in to the new army reveal.
  12. Yep, that's totally something I could explain to the wife, no problem. "Yes dear, I swear I bought these fuzzy hancuffs to help decorate my toy soldiers...."
  13. @Acid_Nine I mean, we are talking about the character who was the greatest mage of his time, on par with Nagash and the original Caledor. From a game play perspective, he was fairly dominant in 7th and 8th edition WHFB. And after all the hype, I can't see GW not giving him some love.
  14. Woot! Somebody unearthed a shipping manifest, there's going to be Lumineth dice! I probablt shouldn't be as excited about that as I am...
  15. @Kramer That may be what I wind up doing, though I found some decently large plastic chains than I'm going to play around with this weekend to see if I can glue them into a solid position. Going by the picture in Wrath, the chains are fairly huge and made half of light and half of shadow. I'll see what I can come up with. Thanks for the advice everyone!
  16. I'm in the same boat as @LuminethMage, if my own user name isn't hint enough. I've been waiting for the AOS High Elf equivalent since the End Times. I let myself settle for the Idoneth when I decided to get back into the hobby, and I still do like them, but it really took me a while to come up with a background for them that I liked. Where as with the Lumineth, just that brief passage in Wrath of the Everchosen and brainstorming display boards with @Acid_Nine has already given me a more solid spot to make a Lumineth force that is distinctly my own, and the army is still largely a mystery. I'm here for the long haul. As for Malarion's Aelves, we'll have to wait and see. I get the sense that he doesn't really care what happens to Slaanesh, he got his tithe of souls, and so he's now pursuing his own goals. What's interesting to my mind is, for the first time, we aren't really sure what he wants or what his goals are. In the Old World he was defined by his hatred of the High Elves and his desire for the throne of Ulthuan. Now, he's more powerful than ever, has his entire own Realm, and has his own people to shape as he will. The truely scary question is: what will he do next?
  17. @JPjr Heh, yeah, this whole thing, while awesome, just about fried my brain. I'm not sure I could use actual metal chain, because I think that would actually be too hard to get it to stay upright. Also, via Wrath of the Everchosen, it took Dhorgar's bite to sever just one link, so the links would probably have to be rather large.
  18. I have a random question for everyone. While brainstorming for display boards in another thread, I hit upon an idea that lit my imagination, but I'm not sure hiw to implement it. What kinds if materials would you use to model the chains holding Slaanesh in place?
  19. @Acid_Nine Blast you for giving me complicated ideas! I was just going to do a simplely decorated board, but you had to fire up my imagination! Just had the notion to do a tower defending one the chains keeping Slaanesh locked in place. Now to figure out how to do the chain....
  20. My Fuethian Tidehost for the Idoneth is a political army. They are sent out to avenge any slights or insults (real or imagined) that the Fuethians deem need to be answered in blood and souls. This gives the army a reason to attack anyone. Further, my Tisecaster won leadership of the army through being young, ambitious, and using her connections at court, not through talent. So she has been given an Akhelian minder who is out of favor at court. He has been told that his goal is to make the Tisecaster look good, and that is his only way back into the good graces of the court. He is resentful that he diesn't receive recognition for his achievements in battle, as everything is attributed to the Tidecaster. For her part, the Tidecaster views the Ahkelian as an annoyance, constantly getting in the way of how she wishes the army to perform. My Soulscryer finds himself as the diplomat between the two, constantly reminding them of their orders from the court and keeping them moving toward their targets. Finally, there is a Soulrender who has been attached to the army for when their mission is more about harvesting souls than pure revenge. He has a rather dark humor that tends to unnerve those he interacts with.
  21. I love seeing awesome conversions like this! My hobby skills are much more painting oriented, so seeing projects like this is always amazing to me. Can't wait to see it finished!
  22. I've been thinking about theming all of my AOS armies in Hysh eventually. The over all project goal is to do one army for each Grand Alliance, with my Idoneth being the outlier force set in Aqshy. The problem is settling on armies for each of the other Alliances, since I have always been an elf player at heart. The good news with this project is it would let me explore the different terrain possible in Hysh. With the Lumineth seeming to have a very pastoral nature to their bases, I could do the crystal and desert with two of the other armies, and tie in the colors I use on the bases to bring everything together.
  23. Let me also add my congratulations! Being a parent is hands down the most rewarding thing! And when you start being able to hobby with your kids is a truely amazing moment. My daughter (age 4) shows everyone who comes to the house her Tomb Banshee she painted and says she wants to paint just like daddy!
