That said, with my most recent list, I could easily just drop my 30 Acolytes down to 25 and have enough to bring Vermintide instead...

May be worth trying next tournament at the end of the month, especially when so many local armies are pretty combat heavy and that would be a nice holdup.

So such big units of acolytes work out well?

  2. @Asamu Thanks for the pointer! Warpgale it is! My list is rather magic heavy, which is why I thought  Master of Magic was a good trait for the grey seer. But making the warpseer more durable is better you think?

The stormfiends are equiped with warpfire, shock guantlet, and warpgrinder. So I was going to burrow them, for some backfield harassment. Nice quipment outfit of the warlock. I was thinking that more more more warp power was a bit unrealiable to get of with the high casting value?
    Thanks for your help!

  3. Alright guys! I need halp! Gonna participate in my first tournament in mid may.
2k points, three rounds. A friend of mine is bringing Sylvaneth, there's gonna be som LoN, and probably Dok, FEC, and more.
I dont have a great unit selection as of yet, so I'm gonna get owned 0-3. But that's fine. I'm there for the fun!

So I have the following units:

20 clanrats, 20 stormvermin, 20 plague monks, 3 stormfiends, 1 WLC, 1 WLC/catapult, 1 warlock bombardier, 1 warpseer, 1 grey seer, 1 plague furnace, 1 doomwheel. I also have balewind vortex, WLV, vermintide, doombell.

Realm artefacts are allowed, but we're not playing with the realm rules.

What do you think about this list? Any tactical pointers will be appreciated.

My idea was to stick the grey seer on the balewind near a gnawhole. What artefacts should I get?

He probably voted for me and not the model🥴

*sniff sniff* Is that... Is that weakness I'm smelling? Has my time come? Dorsal stabbing is in the air, yes-yes?

On a more serious note, what do you guys think about stormvermin in non-maxed out units. Aren't they just overpriced clanrats without the +1+1?

  5. @GwendarÀ pleasure to read your battle report! Cool list! I suppose you would struggle against a strong magic list, like LoN? But other than that, this list seems pretty strong? How do you outfit Thanquol? And how do you fare against elite heavy armies?

Ooh then that's a new change... The nighthaunt example validates out in the app and builders just fine and I've seen it at events. Interesting... Skaven really are a race apart!

I don't think the warscroll builder filters out illegal battalion - allegiance combos, does it?

  7. @AngryPlatypus I've run a similar list in the past, with clanrats and lots of WLCs. The problem is you'll be relying on the WLCs to do most of the heavy lifting.  If they have no answers for the cannons (range damage to take them out, or MW protection) the WLCs are really great though!
I haven't really tried doomwheels all that much, so not familiar with how they perform. I would be tempted to drop them both (and pherhaps and engineer), and replace them with 1-2 units of 5 gutter runners to put pressure on objectives, and then a melee unit with some punch. Plague monks, or rat ogors pherhaps.

  8. It's so sad that the Screaming Bell is so bad. To me it's the most iconic Skaven warmachine, and thematically just so so cool!
I love the idea of swarms of Skaven rushing forward, pushing the war altar forward, getting ever bolder and more frenzied by the bells clamor.

@gronnelg I argue they are still valuable when equipped with an artifact. Vanilla stat line doesn't ever give me confidence to even take down a 5 wound hero but give it Blade of Judgement with its double blade loadout and, well have fun. Here's the thing, its impossible to run right now. A mixed skaven list or even a dedicated non-skryre list should always be using the crown of conquest artifact for battleshock immunity. Using the grand alliance stuff really pigeon-holes skaven players because we can't take a second artifact without battalions.

The assassin is fun. Dont worry about him not being able to attack first. If you tactically place him at say 4+'' inches away from a hero about to pile-in, you're safe when they activate. Then the enemy unit now puts the assassin in combat so you can pile in afterwards. Take advantage of the chaff unit they pop out of by letting clanrats or others to die off in front of the assassin giving you the free lane to pile in. Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks for your feedback. If you place the assassin outside of 4 inches, he's out of combat though, right? So your opponent is free to ignore him.

  10. @Skreech Verminking Yeah, I mean, he's good against heroes. But he doesn't have the "goes first" thing anymore.  He only has 3 attacks, so if you get super lucky, he will do ~6 wounds. I guess that's fine, so long as you only use him to supplement whatever else your attacking the enemy hero with? And the assassin is going to super die to retaliation. So is it worth making him go first, instead of whatever other units you could have chosen, for potentially 6 wounds?

  11. Aerherquartz brooch - each time you use a CP, on a 5+ you get it back. What are peoples opinions on this artefact? Across 5 rounds + 1 starting CP that's a total of 6 CP. With this artefact you would statistically end up with a total of 8 in this situation.
    Is it worth it?

  12. @Ratcliff Well done fellow rat! I'm guessing the 3 x priests were for prayers? How did they perform, and is it worth i bringing 3 of them?
What's the though process behind having several small units of monks, and then a big one. Did you need a lot of inspiring presence to keep the big unit alive?
