  1. What is the combo people are using for Skull Cannons? Just Cannons with 5x Mongers?
  2. I mean I think there are a lot of new things you can do with the Battalions that may not seem OP on paper but turn out to be better in practice. Take the Wrathmongers Battalion. That seems really interesting. I actually think Mongers are really nicely priced. I'm planning on collecting 10 more and trying two groups of 10 or one big group. They have 2 inch range as well which is great for fighting in ranks, which the Reapers have a harder time doing.
  3. It could be okay but I think the idea is to make the Chaos Lord your source of -2 or better rend since the rest of the mortals lack any really shread. But I think most options would be viable on the Gore Pilgrims Lord. The plus 1 to dmg on a guy with two weapons is awesome.
  4. I dont have my book on me. What is the Gorecleaver again? I think it's just Khorne Mortal Heros.
  5. Dimensional Blade Artefact. The rend combination with the added dmg from Gore Pilgrims seems great.
  6. It's been mention but there is some serious power in a Goretide Chaos Lord on Manticore: 250 points: (Dimensonal Blade) 4 Attacks 3+ 3+ -3 Rend d3 +1 dmg or Fail at 6 Attacks 3+ 3+ -3 Rend 2 Dmg 3 Attacks 3+ 3+ -1 Rend 4 Dmg! (on charge) 5 Jaws 4+ 2+ -1 1 Dmg (possibly rerolling hits) D6 4+ 4+ 1 Dmg He is no joke. How many heros at 250 have the possibility of two different attacks doing 4dmg? I think for 250 points, in Goretide, this is your beatstick. He is pretty easy to kill, but the good thing is Mortal Blade has a lot of chaff and also a ton of supporting heros to help him out.
  7. If you use too much of any wash it will leave that sort of shiny, glazed look to it. A thin spray of Matt Varnish would help. The biggest mistake people make with washes is they just slap on a huge paint brush load, move it around a little and call it done. If you take a little bit more time, I know I know :), thin it down a little bit, with some medium or water, apply a layer, use your brush you soak up the areas that are pooling too much and use your brush to clean off the flat surfaces, I promise you will be happier with the results. It takes no more skill just a little bit more time. Then you go back if it's not dark enough with a second layer, and maybe this time only hit the major shadowed areas. BOOM now you have multiple layers of shadows and darkness and it requires no more skill, just a little bit more time. Hell you can use a hair dryer if you don't want to wait
  8. I totally get that and that is reasonable. I just wanted to point out that it's still a great army and I cant wait to play it. Also, someone just said this but for 120 points Valkia seems awesome.
  9. Do you think it applies to the mount? I thought some FAQ said only the generals weapons not the mount.
  10. Can we talk a little bit more about the Goretide Chaos Lord on Manticore. That seems like a legit threat. +1 dmg on melee weapons. Now I think it wouldn't apply to the mount's attacks. Does anyone have any rules experience with this? Even if it doesnt, the lance would be doing 4 dmg on the charge. That's insane.
  11. I feel like that is very gloom and doom. Its funny because from an outside perspective, someone who is just starting Khorne I think the book is great.
  12. I'm pretty sure Tyrants of Blood with Reapers of Vengeance is going to be awesome. 2K: Wrath of Khorne BT -320 BT of Insenate Rage -280 BT of Insenate Rage - Gryphstrike -280 Slaughterpriest -100 Slaughterpriest -100 Bloodsecator -140 4x10 Blood Reavers -280 10x Skullreapers -360 Tyrants of Blood -140 Your Wraht of Khorne BT and one Insenate Rage BT are buddies so it can get the Wrath's buff. THe other BT you give an artifact to so it can be more independent. Your Wrath of Khorne BT hits first, using his command ability, he then goes again, then you can hit with your other two BTs before other units hit due to the battalion. At the end of combat, your BTs cause an extra D3 models to flee. You use the Reavers for screens and for Blood Tithe. Blood Tithes can get you get you extra command points, extra attacks with BTs, extra movement, and potentially Crimson Rain. Oh yeah, 10x Skullreapers are amazing at taking out light infantry or chaff walls, especial with Blood Secrator bubble wrapped inside. What are your thoughts? I feel like this combo has a chance to be very powerful. Is this a legal list? I just got the book and I'm still figuring it out.
  13. It can be very efficient if you can make them fearless. Having a semi durable, either due to save or # of wounds, fearless unit in your enemies chaff lines turn 1 is very good. It forces them to deal with it or it consumes their chaff and allows you to then out maneuver them. I haven't been playing Khorne or this exact tactic but I've played a lot of Tabletop and I can tell you that if you use this as a tool, it can win you a lot of games.
  14. I do think Goretide Reavers or Blood Warriors with a Chaos Shrine and potentially in some battalion is going to be great. The Warshrine, from what I am understanding, can do 2 prayers and give a block of Reavers or Warriors reroll all misses and immunity to battleshock. Then you can whip them before they move, now rerolling all wounds, then with Goretide bonsus turn 1 charge. Even 1 unit, fearless, will be a huge road block for your opponent. The thing about Warriors or Reavers is they are not bad at killing other chaff. So turn 1 you are getting into the enemies front line, attacking first, killing their chaff and then you yourself are fearless. I think its worth testing and on paper seems extremely valuable. I think a big block of blood warriors or even 10 could be much better than people think. Being fearless means and rerolling hits means you go Gorefists and they wont be running so you always get to fightr after they die. I'm sure others have thought about this but it's worth testing!
  15. 2 quick questions, one important one and one less important one: 1) Can Bloodreavers/Blood Warriors (32mm) and/or Skullreapers (40mm) bases fight in two rows? They clearly can't fight if they are directly behind the first row, because the base is more than inch, but in between the gaps of the first row, does that create enough space to get 2 rows into combat? 2)I'm getting my book tomorrow, could someone do me a solid and explain the Bronzed Flesh rules? Thanks in advance for helping out a new Khorne player!
  16. I think you are right and it depends. Although I do think that you have better things to buff with attacks then Bloodwarriors. So if you are like me and plan on using Blood Warriors as really fast objective grabbers/screeners then the gorefist seems better. I can see three units of 5 in the Bloodmad battalion working out well. You woulnd't use them to be your main fighting force, but they can quickly get to your enemies units holding objectives or weaker enemy support units if they are left unattended. My idea is to use the Bloodmad with a 10 man Blood Warrior unit for more of kamakazi/screening unit, and then use the 2x5 man units to hunt down weak support units/fight other small enemy units on objectives. Then you can put your offensive resources into Reapers or Reaver blocks. Just an idea. We will have to see it on the table!
  17. Good insight. I was talking more about people trying to use Bloodwarriors to really kill things. You mention No respite and Gorefists, but Reapers have Murderous to the Last and Daemonforged Weapons., arguably better. They have different uses but I think if you're looking for dmg output Reapers are probably the best mortal option.
  18. I've read the discussion about Blood Warriors taking either double axes of Glaive and I think people shouldn't be using Blood Warriors for their offensive output. The main reason is because, other than not being battleline, Skullreapers do a lot of things better than Blood Warriors. -Blood Warriors cost 10 points per wound. Reapers Cost 11..33 -Reapers have base 4 attacks at 3+ 3+ rerolling all misses if over 4 models -Reapers don't take Battle shock and do mortal wounds on the attack, not saves I think that Blood Warriors excel with the new Goretide rules and they are probably best served as a fast, intiation/tanky/chaff type of unit. It will be interesting to see how useful they can be, especially in Goretide with run of 6 and charge. But, I do think Skullreapers outclass them in all offensive capabilties.
  19. As somone with a small collection who is looking to expand, do you think Blood Warriors are better with this rulebook? I didn't see many people taking them before and I believe their points are the same. They seem pretty tough to remove from the board, but damn are they expensive. The Gorefist is the clear option right? 20 of them buffed up a little seem very hard to move off of objectives, but that's 400 points... Yikes.
  20. Thanks! So I cant just have a 40 man unit with 4 hornblowers?
  21. New to Blades of Khorne. Two quick noob questions: What weapons are better on Blood Reavers? I feel like the blades are because the Reavers arent really meant for busting heavy armor, but rather taking out other chaff and bearing people on number attacks. What's everyone else opinion, especially with the new rules? If you have a unit of 20 reavers do the hornblowers and icon bearers stack?
  22. I just bought 2 boxes of Skullreapers, still on the spurs... Here we go!
  23. Thinking about adding some movement to a standard Freepeoples list but I have 180 lefts and I don't know what to do with them. How would you finish this list? LEADERS Neave Blacktalon (120) Freeguild General on Griffon (260) Freeguild General on Griffon (260) Freeguild General (100) UNITS 3 x Vanguard-Palladors (200) 40 x Freeguild Guard (280) - Swords and Shields 30 x Freeguild Crossbowmen (300) 30 x Freeguild Crossbowmen (300) TOTAL: 1820/2000
  24. Do you use GW paints for your flesh? If so, just the normal, Bugmans glow, cadian, kislev flesh tri?
  25. I love the colorful schemes too I just wanted to go for something a little more muted. This guy in particular is the style I'm going for. I'm going to add some color on the shield and also my feathers.
