  1. Why not just take the battalion and it is free to retreat and charge anyway, which was already what made the stalliarch command pointless...
  2. "And henceforth a units worth shall indeed be judged by the reach of their stick" - AoS 3.0 edition core rolebook 1st amendment
  3. That is just the Stormcasts sorrounding it left one: Right one is holding a two hander sword.
  4. Of course you bring a spell portal and Teclis. Throw voice of the mountain and whatever else with Teclis. Get twinstones to 4ish stacks, cast darkness of the soul on 1 mega gargant through the portal. That 500 point model is now stuck unless it rolls 6 or less on 2d6, and that is only with voice up, even harder once it gets other debuffs. Stand your cathallar behind wardens. If another mega charges, it cant fight as you just point at it and it cant fight the wardens and cant fight the carthallar hiding behind them. Did the gargant go to the other side of the board? Just use speed of hysh and 1 CP, you can run 18" then no problem. Now you got the 2 big gargants unable to do anything, what about the small ones? well just eat 2 quartz when they go in to get a 2+ save and stay in the 5+ teclis bubble, they might lose maybe 10 dudes, you also got that bravery debuff up and if the cathallar is within 18" you can now just make them all auto run of they lost just 1 model. This is not unlikely cases, that is a rock solid reliable strategy. I played 2/5 tournament matches in the last tournament against Lumineth and my Gatebreaker mega gargant did not attack even once both games, stuck all the time. Small gargants cant attack, they just scare themselves off the board. Want them to stick around? that will be 2 CP please, every phase... yea not gonna happen. Oh and the general is stuck doing nothing as well but retreating away. You might be lucky to sit on objectives long enough before being killed, while doing nothing and waiting for 30 minutes elf hero phases. just great fun for all
  5. Please point out which rule I got wrong. Teclis auto casts can easily stack up a twinstone automatically to be bonus I mentioned. Cathallars make a unit ignore battleshock on a 2+and in addition transfer the amount they lost by to the opponents unit instead. Their spell also makes a unit unable to act in any given phase if they do not pass a bravery check, which they can easily debuff by 2-3 with voice of the mountain and transfering the aetherquartz penalty, which the cathallar also does automatically. Goading arrogance allows the general to point at a hero in the combat phase 6" away and make that enemy hero only able to target them in that phase. Not only that, Lumineth also get +1 to hit againt that hero. So many things are super powerful, I wont deny that the Tzeentch Archaon list is super meta, but at least that is a 800 model + support that actually goes and fights you. It seems your argument is simply that that combo is strong, so no reason a mandatory command trait from one of the best sub factions should not just completely invalidate any hero unit in the game. 1 Cathallar general with 10 wardens in a circle around her is impossible to ever kill by for example a maw krusha, no dice needed, just immortal, as it can't hit her and not allowed to target the circle of guards. That is just broken. At the very least that trait should only work in engagement range.
  6. I don't think any of the new rules will make Lumineth more NPE, what they got right now appears to be the peak of the worst. The big offenders are mostly related to the Cathallar, that warscroll spell alone is horrid, like an every turn Belakor, but it combos so nasty with everything else. The ability to simply ignore every negative aspect possible, so this model just not only ignores the -1 bravery from the quartz, but transfers it to the opponent, she makes the lumineth simply ignore battleshock in turn your winnings upside down. That unit you just smashed 15 out of 20 wardens is not immune and your unit looses with 15, have fun. Oh want to use inspiring presence? yea that is also 2 CP thanks to that other spell. Then we can talk about that not being 100% like to be up, but thanks to the twinstones, which is the most horribly overpowered endless spell in history, they never fail to cast anything, especially with Teclis around, that Cathallar can easily get +3-4 on that darkness of the soul spell. Now the absolute worst of the worst is the Goading Arrogance Syar command trait, never have I seen such cheesy cheese before and hope I never will again. Now the latest tournament I took part in, this was so incredibly powerful, seeing Cathallars single handledly shutting down Archaon builds just by being sad 6" away behind a wall of wardens. I also played 2/5 battles against lumineth with Sons of Behemat and that is NOT fun, yea 1 mega gargant is -3 bravery with darkness of the soul, have fun rolling 4 or less on 2d6 or do nothing with that 500 pts model. Also that other mega gargant in combat with those wardens? yea the Cathallar that was stood at the opposite side now got speed of hysh and running 18", now the mega gargant cant do anything and is +1 to be hit too! That 1 model locking down 1000 pts of army... No ill will against my opponents, they were great guys, but damn the sheer frustration to play against this army is unbearable. So back to the new units, I do not think anything they do can match the above ultra cheese, give them archers and fighters that is great... The only worry seems to be the loreseeker, that leaked rule he got I really hope turns out to be wrong or have some drawback...
  7. Did see them all and while they look strong, also somewhat interesting, I actually do not think it will make the army "worse" regarding stuff that has been discussed here lately. The positive spin here is the new wind/air temple stuff encourages a bit more movement and perhaps favors the teclis castle a bit less. The fox spirit very much seems like a Celestant prime level character, utilizing it proper is key and it will be easy to throw away. So all in all I think armies using more of the new stuff will be more interesting than walls of wardens and sentinels, however I think that will probably still be what we see in the competitive meta, but at least it gives options for anyone wanting to play lumineth.
  8. Noooo my poor wallet. The Sons of Behemat I was surely not going to get, but then got anyway already stomped it rather flat If any more "knightly" stormcast turns up it will just be a license to print money for GW... They evolved the lore well in 2.0 and now they gotta distance them a bit more again from "space marines". I wonder what is meant by Brettonia though, more ornate and "realistic" plate and possibly different helms? Or more in line of plenty of peasants? The Stormkeeps introduced the idea of the stormcast protecting a city and fighting alongside the freeguilds, that could mirror men at arms and knights... I don't know, but excited to find out!
  9. I sure hope there wont be any +1 attack command to buff these guys 😛 Their defensive capability and point cost will of course be so major a factor it is impossible to judge the bladelords right now. We do know they benefit from the usual stuff vanari gets, so that is already nice as we know, melee units also just becomes better by being in a faction with 2 activations at once in combat. They will probably be faster than stoneguard, but hard to say if they also got 2 wounds. They are both flexible and reliable though, so unlike dawnriders they are good against both hordes and elites. Having a flat 4+ ignore spells ability is not bad at all either, although I do not really like too many of these mechanics, Lumineth are already really dominant with magic, so this seems to add insult to injury to any poor sod trying to play their wizards against a lumineth player. I will say the new rules are at least somewhat inventive, unlike the recent Slaanesh and DoK which did not really add a single original idea. I dare say the current "meta" lists of Lumineth can not really get any worse to play against regarding NPE, it is just a miserable experience with some armies. "It can't get any worse" is a lot bar though
  10. We probably wont get any archers, this is the tease like Sylvaneth getting that revenant archer in their warband, which would be really darn fitting for them to have, but never was to be. I might be wrong though, I also thought why would Lumineth need more ranged power between spells and their crazy good versatile archers, but here we are, with war machines, bowmen on kangaroos and a fox sniper on the way, who could have known. Archers would be great though, I really don't like what the crawler does to the gameplay, as it is so vulnerable for marginal benefit, when it does get lucky and snipe of a support hero, it often feels more cheesy than good, despite the odds being poor, it is so swingy. The minimum range on it also asks for babysitting, which we get precious few models to do, and then you might put 10 mortek to guard it, that is also very point inefficient- Archers could be the answer to a slightly less static force, they should have mortek base stats and a bow with 2 atk 4+/4+/-1/1 a nadirite shortsword 1 attack version of the guard swords. They could have a command ability going back to the TK days, with 1 RDP to ignore all negative modifiers to hit. I seriously doubt we would get them though sadly, it would be great especially if battleline to open more varied army options for OBR.
  11. Either way he is very much attuned to the greenskins if all these broken realms short stories are anything to do by, he is also resting in Ghur, I really do not think he is order aligned. The way the story is heading is the big push for destruction, with a siege incoming, I dont think we will have a bunch of destruction facing this guy. It also makes more sense to get this new destruction character, as they sorely lack that, Gordrakk is after all just a megaboss with a headswap. We know from the rumor engines Kragnos is getting a model. My guess is the Kragnos book might have something like Big Waaagh but for all destruction factions, with him at the head. At least I find this guy the most interesting thing right now to see where they are going with that. Teclis we know is not really going anywhere against Nagash, and while cool, book 3 with Belakor will probably mostly be to establish more internal strife in the chaos camp, making room for a united destruction to really bring down the hammer on a fractured order, a besieged death and the major chaos players locked in civil war.
  12. I'd say they are all going the same place, the short story about the old brute/ardboy throwing away his armor and putting on the paint, is quite the indication of what is to come and also the destination of all the destruction forces, related to Gordrakk or not. If anything it seems the Bonesplitterz might have an even stronger connection, as they completely give themselves over to the pure waaagh energies. Lets hope Kragnos got some good stuff to say with an army of Bonesplitterz comin, they usually quite enjoy hunting godbeasts
  13. Broken Realms will provide some new rules for some factions besides the Lumineth, like the case for the Morathi book last time. The Morathi book actually had some new allegiance abilities (bad ones though) for Stormcast and Slaves to Darkness, while also new warscrolls for multiple Idoneth Deepkin units (why sharks are everywhere now). The Teclis book was announced to have something for Nurgle, Flesh Eaters, Cities and OBR besides all the new Lumineth stuff. The box sets above represent the new battalions, which was the case last time as well. As the OBR box has 10 kavalos and a liege and they are shown as Stlliarch lords both in the picture but also the new box art, it goes to show that they are the focus for whatever is for OBR in that book, and Stalliarch are frankly quite bad. We also already got a battalion with 1 liege and 2 units of kavalos in the battletome, so it seems a bit boring and odd to include this. You could do something like this: Allegiance: Ossiarch Bonereapers- Legion: NoneNagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead (880)Liege-Kavalos (200)- General- Command Trait: Ancient Knowledge- Artefact: Helm of the Ordained20 x Mortek Guard (260)- Nadirite Blade and Shield20 x Mortek Guard (260)- Nadirite Blade and Shield10 x Mortek Guard (130)- Nadirite Blade and Shield3 x Immortis Guard (180)Umbral Spellportal (70)Total: 1980 / 2000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 85 Running no legion to get the +1 RDP trait and the +1 hit 12" aura on the liege. Immortis guard to help Nagash and the Liege play aggressive and not just die instantly to an alpha either.
  14. For 1k Stalliarch I'd go something like this: Allegiance: Ossiarch Bonereapers- Legion: Stalliarch LordsLiege-Kavalos (200)- General- Command Trait: Twisted ChallengeMortisan Boneshaper (130)- Artefact: Artisan's Key- Lore of Mortisans: Arcane Command10 x Kavalos Deathriders (360)- Nadirite Blade and Shield10 x Mortek Guard (130)- Nadirite Blade and Shield3 x Necropolis Stalkers (180)Total: 1000 / 1000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 64 Got to admit I am super disappointed in the broken realms box, not the actual content, but seeing stalliarch lords and horses crushed my hopes of something new and interesting. I had hoped for a new sub faction or in some way to get the option for new battleline to mix up OBR lists a bit, as there is so little wiggle room with the expensive battlelines. Stalliarch lords at the front shoots down that hope. Stalliarch lords also sit at a silly spot, as their command allows retreat and charge, but the most useful battalion for kavalos does exactly the same, for free near the liege... so running that (to get the helm of the ordained artifact as well) you get the same benefits, and you can do that as petrifex to get the reroll 1s to save and the -1 rend command. I would much rather want reroll saves of 1 and an additional rend than just run and charge. Kavalos are fast enough anyway. Stalkers benefit the most, but still, I'd probably rather have petrifex, rend 2 on the riders and rend 1 on the horses is just so much better for their output.
  15. Yea that part was really just a final general comment and not aimed at the Nagash list above as that was without running a legion or battalion in order to get the +1 hit artifact. The Nagash version is still better though as that works against shooting, the petrifex one does not, so is entirely pointless unless you really need to save that 1 RDP and not use the Nagash command... however the reroll 1s to hit is important there too, so probably never worth it, the +1 rend command is good though but Nagash lists tend to lack RDP to use all the +move and shield walls etc you also want to do. My non legion list aimed to fix some of the issues with Nagash currently, it badly lacks a spell portal in that list though, which could be fixed by replacing the riders with 10 mortek. The Immortis are there to help Nagash play more aggressively, with his attack profile and +1 hit and reroll 1s, he will do some work in combat, with the Immortis guard protecting him and the liege from going down to alphas/archers/boats turn 1
  16. I'd say there could be a case for it especially in smaller games, not everyone plays 2k matched play all the time. For example in a 1000 point game, RDP is very limited and in that case going without a legion and taking a kavalos with ancient knowledge (+1 RDP/round) and the Helm of the Ordained (+1 hit 12" bubble) could be quite good. Normally an artifact with a 12" +1 hit bubble would be considered amazing, it is only not considered as much because most competitive builds atm use Katakros for the +1 hit command. You could also make a liege a wizard with the dark acolyte trait. Again this is probably mostly for smaller point games, but worth considering there. I would also consider this in a Nagash list, as you really need to make him count and can be RDP starved, grabbing a liege with the +1 RDP and the helm of the ordained to provide the +1 hit 12" bubble is super useful and a great buddy next to Nagash, as Nagash is 3s to hit on all his attacks and ranged shot and you dont really want to get -1 to cast by using a bone tithe shrieker with him. Something like this might be fun: Allegiance: Ossiarch Bonereapers- Legion: NoneNagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead (880)Liege-Kavalos (200)- General- Command Trait: Ancient Knowledge- Artefact: Helm of the Ordained20 x Mortek Guard (260)- Nadirite Blade and Shield20 x Mortek Guard (260)- Nadirite Blade and Shield5 x Kavalos Deathriders (180)- Nadirite Blade and Shield3 x Immortis Guard (180)Total: 1960 / 2000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 90 Petrifex is still very useful out of the box, if you want to run anything else than Katakros and Mortek Guard spam, getting those reoll 1s to save in combat is good and bludgeon for +1 rend is really powerful.
  17. Yea the new Idoneth looks really lit, here are a few more of them, pretty easy to paint too!
  18. He is for sure Stalker sized, he has the same arms (just 1 pair though!) and also the same legs. I like the idea of a monstrous hero for the bonereapers, if he got a new command ability etc that might really push the guard and stalkers forward a bit. Considering his name and size he is probably also a real fighty boy at 7-8 wound range, probably slower and without the extra RDP the liege gets, but more choppy for the points, that would be my guess at least.
  19. This guy looks like an absolute badass, he is obviously a type of Soulreaper but the design is so much more intimidating and imposing. The face and head overall just looks much more mean. His proportions are much more "heroic" as well. It really does make a large contrast to the standard reaper when you look at them both at the same time: Looks like the new guy is possibly on a 40mm base?
  20. Allegiance: Stormcast EternalsMortal Realm: ChamonLord Kroak (320)- AlliesLord-Celestant on Stardrake (500)- General- Celestine Hammer- Command Trait: Staunch Defender- Artefact: Plate of Perfect Protection- Mount Trait: Storm-wingedCelestant-Prime (300)Lord-Castellant (120)5 x Liberators (90)- Warhammer & Shield- 1x Grandhammers5 x Liberators (90)- Warhammer & Shield- 1x Grandhammers5 x Judicators (140)- Skybolt Bows- 1x Shockbolt Bows4 x Concussors (440)Total: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 320 / 400Wounds: 87 Sure there is no everblaze, but I really like the dual hammers of the drake and concussor unit, I have had opponents baffled by the damage the concussors can do and they can hammer units the drake has trouble dealing with and vice versa. This list can win against plenty of things, but is also vulnerable to some of the most nasty meta lists, Mortal wound spam in return is of course extremely dangerous, the constant influx of MW spamming archers is a real pain and last I played this was in the fall, before lumineth archer spam and now snake archers really took hold, however this list is also mobile and very long range and can quickly engage when needed. If you can eliminate the largest sources of incoming mortal wounds you are golden. Remember the concussors can always deep strike and all use their storm breath to help focus down some pesky character etc.
  21. Yea those pesky slaves to darkness chariot battalions and Liberator spam stormkeeps are absolutely wrecking the meta, I don't think the game will recover any time soon DoK already got a new book anyway, so guess it is broken realms: omg sharks
  22. Considering the development time of an entire project it is not so strange we are not seeing that much of AoS yet. It is only recently that AoS has really gained momentum and we will soon begin to see that pay of. There are titles coming like Storm Ground And also a VR title as well. We also got the underworlds game and some minor things, Stormground is the first "real" bigger title though. I got no way to back up this claim, but I do think the popularity of Total War Warhammer is "hurting" AoS a bit, by being so popular and hammering home what Warhammer is supposed to be, even for many who experience this universe for the first time. This will even continue in the upcoming 3rd game. I do hope to see more media coverage of the AoS setting, it has so much potential untapped. I'd love to see something like the new tabletop RPG brought to videogame format, as either a 3rd person game or isometric party RPG, with greater focus on the living breathing world. No doubt the total war games has been the most prominent warhammer video games to date, most other games are more like "fast food" just being reskins of other titles without much substance. The Vermintide games have been great though and with a 40k version coming, maybe we will see an AoS one as well in the future. Basically anything with a bit of substance that shows us the realms and people living there is very much welcome, be it mythological scale epics or just small stories set in a specific town, it would be great to experience.
  23. I agree, they are just a filler right now, however they get carried entirely by their command group, which might be the best in the game, giving +2 bravery banner and +2 charge ranges. Ironjawz should just go all the way and get some other new options. I would love a REAL anvil unit, some really over the top armored fanatics, addicted to punching new plates and add them to their collection.
  24. I promised myself to be economically responsible and skip out on a full sons army, But then just 1 mega mercenary, that would be ok... alright those battle reps looked surprisingly fun... ok bringing these guys to events could also probably be a laugh... damn it! Oh well only 2 little ones to go... Bonus picture for the social distance times, here is a mood picture of my TTS sons
  25. Looking at the trailer to Be'lakor I could imagine some kind of multi demon box coming out, like 10 of each demon battleline at a discount. The big man himself will probably lead some variation of the chaos ascendant army, either that specifically or just under a new name. I hope they do not entirely remove him from the Std lineup though. For the Teclis book we have heard nothing about anything but the lumineth and some of the aftermath after fighting OBR and FeC. I got no idea what they could add to FeC or put in a box as the start collect covers the entire army... OBR also already got battalions with all the units they got, I do hope they surprise us with a new allegiance that allows stalkers or immortis guard as battleline, to create some diversity from the mortek spam.
